Rubbish. Misleading. Will get people into trouble.

If your kidneys are not working, there are certain times when dialysis is the only way out.

People will start to seek some magical cure in garden egg leaves and wouldn't go to the hospital until it is almost too late.

And then they will blame health workers or hospitals for their predicament.

Instead of this, promote topics that teach people how not to damage their kidneys and not phoney claims to a cure!!!

In short, get this thing off the front page.

Tough one. What would you recommend? Jail her, only to be released in a few years by a merciful judge or governor, or in a jailbreak, etc; while the parents of the deceased keep wallowing in anguish?

Like you said, no easy fix, or maybe no fix at all.

The parents of the deceased will wallow in anguish regardless of what is done.

And that is because nothing will ever bring their girl back. Also, they will be burdened by the guilt of their action of sending her to live with the murderer. And that will be their burden for life.

Punishment should be to prevent recurrence of the crime.

So the beautician should be kept away so that she will never have access to any child forever. So that our children are protected from harm. The judicial system will need to determine the degree of her guilt and how severe that punishment should be.

However, the more important thing is that punishment should be a deterrent for others who could potentially commit the same crime. This type of thing happens daily in our communities. And unfortunately, a lot of people don't see anything wrong with it.

And one of the reasons for this is that crime mostly goes unpunished. If other guardians of children know that they will be punished for doing wrong to minors, the crime will decrease.

Justice is for the benefit of the living, not the dead. After death, the next thing is judgement. Jailing a murderer does not in any way affect the fate of the deceased, it only brings relief & a sense of closure to the living loved ones.

Ok. So, using your logic, where is the justice for the innocent newborn who you say should be given to a family who would probably hate him/her because of the crime of her mother?

The newborn will be alive, so he/she deserves justice too? In an ideal world.

After marriage, everything is jointly owned by the couple.

And if they can't agree on how to "share" a vehicle, then the marriage was headed towards divorce anyway.

NB - Share does not always mean 50-50

No need to arrest her. In an ideal setting, you just wait for her to deliver and then take away her baby and give to the maid's parents.

Just curious...

How is this justice for the dead child?

Isn't this putting the newborn at risk for the same fate?

I'm sure the newborn would be hated for what her parents did. If she also gets killed by the maid's parents, I guess that's an eye for an eye.

But is that justice?

What would you propose be done to parents who kill their own children?

Abacha's wife once said that "No Matter What Happened She(Abacha's family) can't be poor as Dangote. Nobody disturbed their peace and she's still enjoying her husband's loot

Atiku's wife also told us how a pastor she trusted duped her N918m. Can anybody tell us how she got the said money, what business was she into to have garnered such amount of money. Remember, EFCC didn't disturb her(Atiku's) peace. But,

EFCC started working they very day assumed as president. Lastly, the day EFCC will start fighting corruption we will all know & feel it, as for now, they are just fighting Buhari's enemies.

Well, EFCC has been in existence for a while. Why didn't they fight GEJ's enemies.

Corruption is killing Nigerians - specifically, the common man. Whether GEJ's enemies, Buhari's enemies or Obasanjo's enemies... Corruption na corruption.

And these ethnocentric sentiments will never get us anywhere.

Cancer is a bad disease.

I don't know all the details, but it looked pretty advanced.

At that stage, even with the best care, there is unfortunately no reliable cure. (You either surfer the burden of the disease or complications of its treatment) But sometimes, health professionals all over the world unfortunately give false hopes and expectations.

He suffered through his disease but maybe the suffering could have been reduced especially since the end result would have been the same regardless.

One of the reasons why we should not abandon our heritage... The oyinbos always trip for our culture and tradition but we, the owner of tradition detest it so much.. That's why we have abandoned almost everything we possess and embrace theirs.

God help us. Beyonce recently held her baby shower and it was African themed. Meanwhile, We are here running around to buy Brazilian hair and whitenicious cream so that we can be like oyinbo.

Life truly is upside down. Oni, keep doing the Yoruba Nation and Nigeria at large proud...

I agree with you. We should promote our culture and improve it. We do NOT have to keep up with the negative aspects of our culture.

We should be proud of our things and not look to Oyinbo to accept the aspects of our culture that uplifts every African.

About the issue of Oyinbos tripping for our culture... Don't let that fool you. They pick and choose what aspects they trip for. The beautiful and fashionable things, they will do. Like our beautiful clothes, Fashion, some of our food. But the same Oyinbo man/woman who doesn't understand other aspects of our culture will be quick to put down the things we do and call us names.

it is only in nigeria that an untrained person would administer something like drugs that can kill as much as it can save, without anybody doing anything about it. Even in ghana they are enlightened enough to know the dangers of drug administration by quacks. what a country!!!

Every medication you take can cause a lot of harm.

Some drug reactions are very common while some are rare and life threatening.

A nurse is trained and licensed to administer medications.

In advanced societies, Medical doctors prescribe medications. Pharmacists and some nurses with advanced training are also licensed to prescribe with certain limitations that are determined by the need of the society.

One of the big problems with Nigeria is that everybody has become a "Doctor" and you can walk into a pharmacy and buy whatever medicine you think you need - Very dangerous and sometimes can be fatal.

injection can never do someone like dat, it looks like a second degree burn from fire

Stevens Johnson syndrome looks like burns and it is definitely a medication reaction. It involves the skin on the outside as well as inside e.g mouth, eyes, nose, lungs.

That is why it is so dangerous. There is no way to predict it and it is treated like burns.

It can be fatal depending on how much skin is involved.

Hope the child pulls through.

[This is a drug reaction which can happen to anybody. It doesn't mean that the wrong medication was administered rather the student in question reacts adversely to the medication given to him. Most people don't know that they reacts to some drugs eg not everybody reacts to chloroquine or sulphur etc. Some may have mild reaction while in rare cases it maybe life threatening like in this kid.

i concur
my body reacts to sulphur
so it can happen to anyone

You are absolutely right.

The kid looks like he had stevens johnson syndrome which can be caused by a lot of medicines.

I wonder how Sahara and the investigators concluded that the kid got the wrong medication.

SJS is life threatening. Thank goodness he is alive.

Not all Americans are intelligent.

And actually, you will be surprised at their level of ignorance for things outside their culture.

Also, most Americans are open minded but some are un-apologetically racist. I think he is mostly attention seeking and we shouldn't give him the satisfaction of giving him any more attention than he already has.

Also, truthfully, we as Nigerians need to improve our moral standing.

Our culture, style of leadership and systemic corruption makes this an uphill task but we, Africans are stronger than people I have met in other parts of the world (This is my personal opinion based on my personal experience)
