Car Talk › Re: Car Guruz.. Please Help Interprete These Data.. by ZIMDRILL(m): 7:25am On Nov 02, 2017 |
you are being lazy to do simple analysis
most are self explanatory
eg throttle position was 10% measurement goes to last digit which 100%
revs you should know if you dont stop driving coolant/water temperature
etc
those measurement are useless are you are comparing them with manufactures data or data from part manufacturer
as for 02 sensor number no two cars can have the same exact readings even when the part is working fine
why are you comparing your friends reading and yours ? |

Deprofessional: When climbing a slope, is it normal for a car to roll backwards when the gear is in D (drive) without pressing the trottle and the break?
This question might sound silly. But Please forgive my ignorance and explain.
My thought is with the gear in drive, the car shouldnt roll backwards. There are two scenarios to answer your question 1 the car shouldnt slide backwards if your gearbox is not slipping 2 if the car looses traction on all wheels yes the car can role backwads as they wont be traction between the tyres and the road |

Well, i installed it in the car but there's no improvement in the shifting as the transmission still goes into limp mode and only the first two gears work and the car won't go above 45mph. Is there anyone here who can program it for me? Please send me whatsapp on this number 09099642894. eagleeye2: I know a lot of car owners have had their car stopped and after all searchable, the NPF office on duty will comment "Your engine number is not correct " and argument and counter argument will follow. My experience; Police stopped me and asked for papers and after a while, the next thing was your engine number is not correct let's go to the station. On reaching their station, they were like 1MZ was not added to the engine number. I tried in vain to tell them that the 1MZ is a type of engine and not really part of the engine number. The guy showed me one particulars with the 1MZ written together with the engine number. When I continued with my explanation it came to a point where I was asked to write statement. I no fit shout, the matter ended with me parting with some amount of money. My question, is 1MZ really part of the engine number or is this another of their tactics to extort money from the road users? Gazzuz Siena and other car gurus, please help out here. just to educate a bit engine number is not necessary in vehicle documentation is especially for a used car eg a 4 year old and above the reason being engine can be charged in life time of a car, there before it would mean that every part you change that has engine number has to re-registered each time works are done on the engine. Which is waste of time and unnecessary up and down the relevent office to change such details, what matters to officials allover the world is the VIN number that one doesnt change no matter what you change, modification you do and which country you import and export to the VIN number remains the same if a car is stolen, locally you report, reg number aka number plate, colour, make, model and VIN number and at border post etc the main thing you look for is the correct VIN number for the car why becoz number plate and colour can be changed so can be VIN number but VIN number plates can be checked if they have been tampered with not engine number so this is what you teach your police officers on the road |

amliftedhigher: Good morning wonderful nairalanders.
I Am having a very delicate family issues now. I am an only son of my family and 5 sisters all married, since I brought my wife to be to them they all love her with passion and they keep telling me to take good care of the girl, they keep warning me not to treat her bad.
My sister love my Wife with passion including my aged mother but my wife to be in return hates them openly to me.
She doesn't like me mention them before her or discuss any thing with them. But she adores her family so much. We have finished traditional marriage remaining church wedding which is next two weeks from today.
During our preparations my family has noticed her long mute with them in issues of our wedding arrangement, they ask me but I told them that my wife is a shy type that doesn't talk too much but I was lying.
N/B they have not done anything evil to her and they will not think about it because they all fear me but my confusion Now is why my wife hates them? One of my sister lives in the same city with my wife but she hardly visits her.
My fellow comrades please what do I do? I can't hate my sisters because they and their husbands train me in the university . I came from a poor home but seeing the love I have for education all My sisters and their husbands swear that I must attend university . My God's grace I am working in one of the best organization in the country now am comfortable. Do I chase my family away now because of a woman I am getting married to? Help am confused.
Thanks in anticipation 1 Naturally you feel that you owe your sisters and the husbands thats fine as long you dont take it too far in compromising your own relationship/marriage 2 As the only boy and them putting you through school it kept them very close to you and that also can affect your relationship with a woman its takes time to let go i.e sisters treating you as if he still young when actually just got married. Which is what has happened to you, your sisters cant switched off just like that, they will soon realise that you are now your own man with a wife. Newly weds always have problems with relatives and relatives from both sides are always in your face becoz thats what their are used too, it takes time for them to realise that s/he is now married nolonger needs protection all the time from family but from his/her partner So what your see as hate from your wife it might just that she sees your sisters being in your business all the time, remember every married woman wants to be her own woman, not her thing being run of influenced by another woman in your case your sisters, yourself you might be too blind to see it becoz their are your sisters and thats the routine you are used to and you dont see the wrong in it BUT the wife sees it the other way All you need right now is to ask the wife what she really hates about them dont let her just brush off the issues let her say what she feels it will help you to understand were she is coming from then you take it from there you clearly said "She doesn't like me mention them before her or discuss any thing with them" meaning you run decision through them nothing wrong with that for the time being becoz thats what you were used too and them their were used to that also. So it time to make decision as couple you and her NOT THEM you are now married |
Car Talk › Re: Micra Taxis In Ibadan: Necessity Or Menace? by ZIMDRILL(m): 2:21pm On Sep 13, 2017 |
froz: Almost every Nigerian city is synonymous with a slogan or a particular feature that dot its landscape, which has more or less become a mainstay in the city and has always defined it.
Each city has its own distinctive feature and mode of transportation which it is reputed for. Lagos for instance is reputed for its hustle and bustle as well as its yellow and black painted buses also known as “faragon”. Osun and Ekiti state are known for their “Korope” buses. Ibadan on its path was/is still reputed for its brown roofs, and the ubiquitous Micra taxis which are easily noticeable to visitors and inhabitants regardless of the route they tread to make their way into the city.
One is often left to wonder how the micra car, a mid-priced student vehicle in Europe found its way into Oyo state and has succeeded in becoming the official taxi of the state. The car got into the consciousness of Nigerians in late 2005 as it was brought it by the Motor Dealers Association (M.D.A). it began to gain ground with more demand as reviews from users shows that its fuel consumption is economical and its easy to maintain. This buoyed motor drivers to tilt towards owning a micra vehicle in order o reduce maintenance cost and increase profit.
Hence, this made the car to be leased out on hire purchase and it gradually became the “official” taxi of Oyo state which is witnessing a glut of Micra taxis.
There is no doubt that Micra taxis have come to stay in Ibadan and it has become apart of day to day life. Thus, the need to access its impact on the way of life of everyone in and around Oyo state.
From the foregoing, one can deduce that the micra taxi is a necessity for commuters who do not own a personal vehicle but need mobility from one point to another.
On the otherhand however, one can consider the Micra taxis to be a menace as the activities of some of the drivers of this vehicle leave much to desire as they tend to flout every known traffic law and often pose dangers to themselves and other road user as they manoeuvre into tiny spaces which more often than not are spots where they shouldn’t be ordinarily. They are the ‘kings’ of the road in Ibadan as private vehicle owners often cede the way to them in order to avoid collision.
Some dwellers of Ibadan have also recognized other menace beyond traffic offences as it has been claimed that kidnappings and robbery operations are carried out using the Micra vehicle as it can easily meander its way out of trouble in the event that the criminals using the vehicle need to make an escape from law enforcement officers. Based on this, some people have advocated for the car to be banned.
It is however pertinent to note that the proponents of such bans have only resorted to taking a drastic cosmetic approach to an even deeper societal issue. The crux of the matter is that there is a lacuna (crime) which must be addressed as the Micra car itself would not embark on a crime by itself but its only a tool been employed by some unscrupulous elements in the society. So banning the Micra car as been advocated by some folks wont automatically translate to an end in crime.
Conclusively, Micra taxis have become a part of day to day life in Ibadan and their menace(s) can be curbed with strict guidelines and punishment to serve as deterrence to potential offenders.
SOURCE: https://brandspurng.com/micra-taxis-in-ibadan-necessity-or-menace/ we have the same problem in zimbabwe, harare those micra are being used as taxis, the worse part is that there are not registered taxis but illegal one my general understanding is that people prefare them becoz of the small engine size, vary from 1.0L - 1.5L |

Are you saying if an alternative belt is cut, the car battery would still be charging normally/properly? What caused the problem I mentioned in my earlier post was 'the stiff compressor' but without the voltage monitor I probably wouldn't have known. I saw continuous low battery warning (on the battery monitor), checked under the hood and saw that the belt had cut, simple! What I observed, I observed and what happened happened. I don't have to cook up stories to sell my products (you may want to check people's profile before commenting!). I sell several other stuffs and also own an automobile blog (www.mymoto.com.ng), this is A FIRST OF USING A PERSONAL EXPERIENCE (don't think that's wrong/inappropriate)!!! a cut on the belt will never cause a voltage drop, though its a sign that it needs changing i think you are cooking up a story to sell the product |

gwng: While I drove out of my home, the reading on this gadget (SHOWN BELOW) was constantly at 11.X which indicates 'LOW VOLTAGE'. At first I thought my car battery was bad. On opening the front-hood, I discovered the belt powering the alternator had cut (due to a stiff compressor)which I have since resolved.
Why this device is great: as I drive daily, I see my car battery voltage on the device. When I start the car its usually around 14V (which is an indicator that the alternator is working well) then as I drive about, the voltage reading fluctuates between 12.X and 13.X. This is an intelligent way of monitoring YOUR CAR'S CHARGING SYSTEM and you will easily know WHEN YOUR ALTERNATOR IS FAULTY or ANY OTHER BASIC PROBLEM WITH THE CHARGING SYSTEM.

Drinkwater07: In a dilemma right now, please those experienced in these kind of issues should help me.
I lost my Job at the Nigerian Breweries Last year, While I was working I made up my mind to marry my girlfriend of about 4 years now, this December. Both of us are 30 already, we are so much in love, but my job lost really hampered our marriage plans, because she is just engaged in the Npower scheme now and my cash that I saved have long almost finished right now. The reason I did not go into business with the little money I have at that time about 400k was that My elder brother in Canada promised to send me to Canada to join there. So far he have helped me secure admission for MSc. and payed my full tuition fee and even credited my account for the maintenance which the visa officers will see in my account. He also has the plans of sponsoring me through PHD also in Canada or the UK if I want. Now as I await my Visa, there is a really big issue I am fighting right now to manage.
My brother warned me to forget about any girl I have here in Nigeria, that most of them are fair weather friends, gold diggers and desperados, and that if I have anybody here in Nigeria waiting for me while I am away, that it will be a huge distraction for me. He told me he is speaking out of experience and won't want anybody to distract me while studying and hustling abroad. My girl is definitely none of what he described, she is a very good person and is never after money, She just love so much. I told him that I don't have anybody, This is to avoid him withdrawing his financial support for me or may be doubting my seriousness to succeed.
I was planning to come back and get married to my baby after my MSc, but I don't know how my brother will see it. He will be so disappointed with me, I hold my brother in so much high regard, and right from when I was a child he usually protects me so well and doesn't want anything to hamper my success, I love my girl so much, she is everything you will want in any woman. If I don't marry her I don't think I will be happy with anyone else. None of them is aware of what is bothering. How will I solve this issue. the situation is very easy marry after your Msc thats if you happen to get the visa which was your plan by then a many things would have tested the love between the two of you and also by then your brother might have been proven wrong on how he thinks of your girl. Marrying her before leaving will put stress on you while you study becoz automically you become responsible for you wife. And you have to balance between studying and working to provide for her and also your living expenses. Am in UK to took me aleast 3 years to master to really hustle and be stable financially, when i say hustle i dont mean what you think but i mean getting to know the system and getting a better working paying and working condition job the moment before you leave you are fuked as wife will demand things and money, and there this thing that she will want to show to people that husband is abroad and her standards change which mean you pump out more money. More money means more working hours for you but remember your visa has conditions (UK wise) Dont marry now marry after |

Former Ghana international Nii Odartey, has won his lawsuit in which his wife was seeking to gain 50% of all his wealth. An Accra High Court ruled on Wednesday ruled that, Gloria Appiah, his former wife, committed ‘adultery’ when she conceived three children out of wedlock and subsequently quashed her motion to be awarded half of the property of the former footballer. Justice Cecilia Don-Chebe Agbevey, who presided over the matter, also ordered the estranged wife to vacate the footballer’s plush 7-bedroom apartment in East Legon within 30 days. She was however allocated a small property at Dome, a suburb of Accra, as compensation, leaving the player with the clearance to keep the majority of his hard-earned wealth. you are missing the the point she got something and also it clearly say the kids were not his meaning eg if she had 4 kids 3 being not his means there was high chance she would lose the 7 bedroom and she did becoz she had no grounds for her to have such a big house but the bottom line is every chance is different as facts and etc are shown to the judge (it wont be dealt in a culture traditional way) but i according civil laws |

Just get a good lawyer, show proof of Infidelity and deception. you got it wrong whatever they aquired while married is shared thats the law the problem with many african and asian countries is that half of the time people use traditonal social laws which half of the time were always against a woman hence you find that most women wanna days women want a civil wedding meaning the protected from tradition were brothers or relatives would take property etc in death situation, in this case she is protected by civil law to get what the bought together even if one was working |

AutoJoshNG: If you intend to buy a car for showoff, I bet, a Toyota Hilux is the last that would come to your mind. But with this Toyota Hilux Tonka, the reverse is the case because you'll definitely love it.
With ground clearance of over 150mm combined with a high-riding axle, heavy-duty suspension and 35-inch diameter tyres, and a SR5 double cab with a powerful 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, The new Toyota Hilux Tonka Concept will take you anywhere on Nigerian roads
"We have taken Tonka out of the sand pit and reinvented Hilux from top to bottom and from nose to tail, inspired by the Tonka trucks that kids play with in their backyards, the Hilux Tonka Concept goes way beyond the already hugely capable abilities of Hilux to traverse rocks and other rugged terrain. The Hilux Tonka Concept is dramatic evidence that our local team loves to have fun, we're keen to explore new ideas and we're always looking to push the boundaries of what's possible". said the Product design chief Nicolas Hogios.
Other features of this 'monster-truck' are; High-performance off-road LED lighting in the bar of the roof for excellent night-vision, tubular side rails protect the body and chassis, a rugged bash plate made from 6mm-thick alloy to protect delicate components, among others.
Toyota designed this concept to celebrate both Tonka's 70th anniversary and their 80th anniversary.
Although the Toyota Hilux Tonka Concept might not be put up for sale, lovers of Toyota and Tonka can see the vehicles in expos and exhibitions.

cruchenuti: So I have this question that caused controversy today while I was hanging out with some female friends from church. About 8 of us. 2 Guys, 6 ladies.
So I said jokingly that I would never marry a lady that has never cooked for me OR that I have never eating her food. If a lady says she can cook and I have never eaten her food, How do I then believe that she can actually do what she says ?
O boy, come and see how these ladies reacted angrily. Saying stuff like Oh, So you want marry a servant that would just be cooking for you, Women are not your servants oh, blah blah blah.
Their main point was: If a lady says she can cook, A man should take her for her word. She can decide to cook out of her own will, she can also decide she will never cook while courting
I had to just calm the ladies down with jokes & pet them, make dem no come break my head.
And I'm wondering, Does this even make any sense ? by sort of nature those are the qualities men look for in a woman an average cook etc so during dating most women would try show those qualities yourself as man you would wonder if she doesnt cook anything during dating so what would make you marry her if you had not seen one the things men want from a woman |
