arumen: what do people mean when they say that a car has been upgraded from one model year to another? e.g 2010 camry upgraded to 2012. I see it a lot in the car sales section. My thought is that once a car is manufactured, the model year sticks. Can any one make things clearer, cos I dont understand the idea.
upgrade is the wrong word
but
face lift
as explained before its simply a "non manufacturer" making the old model look like the newer model
ochukoccna: Repalce ke? The component still dey deliver Just need to mod it for better performance Morning Zimdrill and those with insight I need it to attach a heatsink to a computer mainboard/motherboard The heatsink goes unto the mosfets (those black flat thingys in the second picture) which can get really HOT
we once had Chrysler PT Cruiser after doing headgasket, waterpump thermostat etc the would still overheat, went online and we found that it was common problem on this model of Chrysler more like the common problem of rover 75 and freelander
dancok: Am new to auto world, when can i add water to my new car radiator? Just curious about it, though is temperature is normal no overheating, i just wanted to know before it needed, the car is just 2 wewks and half, a new tokunbo Golf 4 variant. Car specialist, pls respond.
it depends
let me teach you few things
radiator must be filled with coolant/anti freeze, coolant/freeze (concentrate) is a liquid chemical that should be mixed with water on 50:50 ratio
though some coolant/antifreeze come already mixed so when buying it depends whether you bought the ready mixed or concentrate
this coolant/antifreeze differs in colour based on the car manufacturer some are reddish/pink/orange and some are green, so if the colour in your coolant/antifreeze is becoming my lighter in colour you add coolant/antifreeze if its more dark you add water
finally most african people we go poor maintaince culture we use water instead of the coolant/antifreeze
back your question when should you add water(coolant/antifreeze) into the radiator, you only add it if it is below the minimum mark, it should between minimum and maximum
ayenny02: The timing chain was noisy and we changed it, later it noisy again the mechanic said the oil pump is faulty and we changed it but the oil pump was not working, we need to change the oil pump for the second time and I told him to open it and do it quickly and he said the engine must cool before he can open it. That's what cause my question.
Its only health and safety, he will burn him/her if he strips the engine while hot, yes it has to cool down, its not a job that you pull up and say do it now
ochukoccna: Hello gurus in the house, I'm in need of suggestions regarding adhesive which i can use to attach some some electrical components together Such adhesive mustn't be electrically conductive i.e. it must be electrically neutral else it would short circuit my components if its not Preferably such a product should/would be a composite of aluminum oxide and boron nitride (both tolerate high temperature ranges and are electrically neutral) Any suggestions? Thank you
I think its much easy if you tell the part you want to fix and also why not replace the part
Originalsly: Name just one city in the entire where stop and go traffic is close... close to Lagos. Here you would not be given the space to fully release the clutch. No leg fatigue since they wouldn't have to be doing nearly as much footwork.
Originalsly: It depends on where you would be doing most of your driving and how you would use the car. If you live in the city... in heavy stop and go traffic... automatic is the way to go. Stop and go traffic is never good for manual... burnt clutch would make you be leaking naira by the thousands plus leg fatigue. If not in the city.... in a hilly area... or if you intend hauling heavy loads.... then choose manual... otherwise... automatic.
mayor2013: Your check engine light flashing means you have a serious misfire on all cylinders of your cars. There are many things that can cause a random cylinder misfire, I would advice you stop driving that car for now as a misfire Is hazardous to your engine. A proper diagnosis needs to be carried out to rule out the problem. If you are in lagos call multiautolab on 08156087872 or 08165520837 to get a solution
I wouldnt say its misfire but flashing means an error code meaning the car needs to be hooked to a diagnostic machine and pull out the code and you start working with pulled out code
Wld do anything to av an american spec 1997 manual gear golf....2.0 mpfi.
That ride is loaded
Op,ur parameters in the opening statement makes it hard to choose
While i was used to seeing MB,opel, peugeots,vw,Volvos in the house while growing up,the turn of the millennium saw Asian cars take over...and we av been making do with those
If I see a car dat I like/want,so be it
Origin doesn't really matter
i.e
Next car loading....only if I can go to France to choose my choice
different taste as individuals but that renault scenic 4x4 is ugly
good for those who want to know the basic but there is important information missing i.e jacking points "she didnt mention anything about jacking points she simply said "move the jack underneath the car " surely those who dont know will the jack underneath and start jacking, without the knowledge of the jacking points one will end up making a whole underneath the car
redcliff: If i had an asian car i would be the sole and only mechanic of the car. To be honest, i love european cars alot especially German. I have never driven an Asian car in my life. Maybe thats one of the reasons i dont like them. But then again, i have not driven them and its safe to stick with what i know. These are my reasons i would pick an european car over asian cars
1. Durability 2. Ruggedness 3. Not following the nigerian bandwagon effect 4. Easy access to these brands of automobiles 5. Designs way ahead of their time (audi a4 2002 model is still relevant today. Golf 3 is still relevant today)
Although it may cost more to maintain, but good parts lasts really long. If i need an everyday rugged ride, i would rather pick a golf2 or 3
from what i see, these car are almost the same when it come to technology but there is one key factor when africans buy cars from japan they buy old cars that are less electronic that the present one
your comparison should be of the same of manufacturer
blunt2dcore: I drive a 2004 toyota rav4.last serviced on Sep. 2016 wt Mobil1. I observed recently that the oil pressure indicator flickers whenever engine is driven for abt 2-3hrs during breaking. I have changed the oil switch & oil filter as advised by mechanic but to no avail. I'm so worried now. Experts in the house pls come to my aid!!!
shullamite: Hello house, please I want to know the documents needed wen buying a nigerian used car. should I request for the original papers of purchase? Should I demand for the custom papers? Etc. Pls advice.
its not what you need but what you ask from the seller
mu2sa2: Going by this eye-witness account, the policeman ought to be dismissed from service and charged with culpable homicide punishable with death. He was on duty at Zenith bank in Zaria and said to be intoxicated . He had a misunderstanding with a soldier and started shooting. He shot dead a fellow policeman and this young man who had gone to use the atm. The hausa poster advises the authorities to be selective about the policemen assigned to do public duty while bearing arms. RIP to the dead.
only to someone who is dead can we say RIP no need to say :RIP to the dead:
RIP applies to being dead only, its like saying the deceased is dead the word deceased applies to someone dead
unless in nigeria you say RIP to other scenario including someone dead
rxgodwin: OMG, this post reminds me of the immediate cause of the accident I had in 2015.
I was driving on the highway, going at 140kmph and I was trying to wear my sunshade. So I only had my left hand on the steering wheel at 7 o' clock position, at the same time I approached a sharp bend, very sharp bend almost a "U" kind of bend.
Slowed as soon as I could, suddenly there was a highlander in front of me,
I tried returning to my lane and gboosa dts when I lost control and somersaulted..
My point is assuming I had both hands on the wheel and in the right position, I wont have lost my 406.
Wish I saw this post earlier
seems like you bought your licence if you got one
also experience teaches, you should straight that is a long straight line which is clear of traffic
cjfbn: I travelled for the weekend, came back to my base(enugu),low and behold, I had a flat battery. What caused it, I still can't tell. a colleague brought his battery started and car and put back my battery. Mine was not fully charged and I switched off the ignition. I started the car again, of course it wouldn't start, I called the guy again and this time, he rubbed his battery against mine(jump starting), the car refused to start. My super story started. Got an electrician who succeeded in starting the car but observed that it was not firing well. We took the car to my mechanic.. He serviced the injector noozles, changed plugs AND changed coil. This was happening in a space Of three Days and still no progress. The clown of a mechanic now told me that he wanted to bring down the TOP. I shouted in French, told him to couple my car. I now enquired for another mechanic, I was advised by my colleague to take it to Toyota Place. I never knew they were in Enugu. I quickly did, though they said that they are closing tomorrow and will treat my case in January. I quickly agreed.
Though the car has not been checked with their system, the engineer was talking about catalyst converter Or something Being blocked. I just thank God that the mechanic no kill me. My people, what is catalyst converter or did I not hear well. Gurus in the house should educate me.
sometimes you are better off testing driving the car yourself
its sounds like all he wanted was to milk you
if you battery run flat its either 3 things
1 battery has reach its life span it aint holding charge anymore (usually the way you described it, the signs to say the battery is starting to die) 2 something was left being on eg radio or interior lights even sidelights 3 if alternator is not charging the battery sign should turn on by the dash unless if it was removed
sultaan: I am still waiting for the reason why you have to wait so long for things to cool down.
If transmission fluid normally run at 200F and you open it up at 100 the axle is riding on a seal I don't really see anything bad with warm system
you can say that again
waiting 12hrs for CV joint removal they said it allover internet but i have found anything from around the world except link to nigerian websites talking about it
