OkwaIfugo: Got this Toyota Siena from someone who happened to be the third owner. It came with only the key.
So I went and bought the normal remote went online read about programming did all my best but couldn't programme it.
The remote is good and am far from where I bought it. But they said I should be sure if the car have used a remote before as some do not have receivers.
So I ask.....
1. Do all 1999/2000 Siena use remote. 2. Who can guide me on how to get the remote programmed?
I'm in the eastern part of Nigeria
lets separate issues here
are you not confusing key coding and remote programing ?
do you want the central locking to work ? did you buy the exact fob for your car ? eg same year and serial numbers and frequence these are hard to match if you dont have the original fob eg if you had the old fob that got damaged it would be easy to get details like serial number and frequence etc ?
laivwire: Well the road in front was clear for me, she dove in at the last possible second and the site of impact was to her rear left end. Honestly I feel she was clearly at fault as no superman could stop my vehicle within a split second as such. I guess gender quality issues played a role there too though but lesson learned nonetheless.
i might be wrong becoz i cant clearly get the picture in my how the situation was
but having a clear road ahead still doesnt mean you had the right to overtake what if there was danger from the left or right during overtaking though the road ahead is clear
in UK they introduced what is called hazard perception
many people here they would fail, it test you to dangers that might in the road even when you have the right of way and when your still driving normal its about about anticipating dangers and making right decision to avoid them in time
nurey: Haba Bros, just like that. It's a two Lane carriage, I at the left land cruiser by the right. I maintained left because there are several corners/junctions by the right and I know most Lagos drivers are psychiatric patients bursting out from corner without thought of safety for other road users.
Besides when has overtaking another vehicle at recommended speed a crime?
not a crime but violation of the highway code hence you get fined
speeding is not the only violation you can do while driving
there is dangerous driving without due car to other road users
here driving slowly in certain situations can be
it might be wrong but you sound like those guy who never read to went to driving skol to learn to drive
corruption and automatic cars are killing me, one learns to drive within a day but doesnt know road rules and gets money to buy a licence
nurey: Seems so people miss read books or law just suit themselves, hitting a Car from behind doesn't justify you are at fault.
I was heading to V. I one day and was doing around 40km/h at Osborne road just after the street light a 2014 land cruiser was by my right and I was speeding to over take when an slowpoke driving a Lexus just cut out from corner, the carina e in front of the land cruiser dodge but the land cruiser driver continue his speed suddenly the Lexus slowed down to enter another corner the land cruiser just swayed directly into my front. I suddenly depress the brake, car didn't brake early, released and depress again, but I kissed the land cruiser Sha. The madam just said driver should go out and look whether I damaged the car or not, I was like wtf u just burst into my front like that, he Apologized Sha saying it's not his fault.
So now tell me, if someone suddenly comes into your front, and you hit their car just like my situation are you saying I am still at fault?
you were at faulty before i even explain being hit from an side angle
how can you overtake close to right or left turn ?
laivwire: I had an early morning trip about a month ago so I set out of the house around 6am. It was still a little dark and there were light showers. I eased out of my area into the highway and cruised t about 60kmph on the fast lane.
Scene of accident A woman wanted to turn off from the slow lane into a roadside church but was obstructed by a taxi man who made an abrupt turn into the road after picking a passenger. Through instinct or whatever, the lady swiftly turned back and right into the fast lane which was a clear road from where I was coming from. I slammed o. The brakes but the short time difference, distance and slippery road just had my truck screeching until I Emmys her from behind. I was driving a Hilux and both headlamps and fender got smashed on impact while her Honda had no boot again. She came out apologizing for her error but 30 mins later the story had changed to me be being guilty cos I hit her from behind. These allegations were by new passers by who didn't witness the incident. Eventually I had to part with 30k to fix her car and walk away with my damages.
Which rule states that as long as you hit from behind you're guilty no matter the circumstances? I need clarity please
yes along you from hit someone from behind you are 95% wrong based on the distance rule of the car in front of you
but there are situation whereby yourself you have been hit from behind by a another and your car is forced into the car in front of you
but on what i read here it seems most people buy licences with even knowing and understanding the "highway code book" i wouldnt know what it is called in nigeria
EEA1: Hello, I bought a 2002 Renault Scenic about 3 weeks ago. Drove it home in the rain and then through a somewhat flooded road around Maicon bus stop Egbeda. I feared the height of the water on the road will be bad for the car but then, I didn't see water vapor from the bonnet or tyre areas suggesting the water didn't really touch the bottom side of my engine. The car was OK and I did a service, planned to change the transmission oil too. This morning I stared the car, pulled out and removed the the sun shield with the illuminated mirrors and cut the wires leading to the bulbs in the mirrors (one of them sparked very little) because they were hanging low and troubling my head and I doubt it can be fixed well. After that I noticed the audio display and AC display didn't light up again and the AC fan wouldn't come on. But the car still started and drove around. Then about 2 days after the car wouldn't start at all till today. Two electricians (and a mechanic who didn't do much but change the "starting sensor" have come to check, the last one with his diagnostic kit and all. They find it hard to tell what exactly is wrong with the car. The engine rolls with a good battery, the "starting sensor" has been changed. The last electrician said the plugs weren't "bringing light" and he had to by pass the ECU or so for the fuel pump to bring in fuel, so his conclusion was that the ECU may be faulty but that's not confirmed. He has identified two relays and a fuse that need replacement and that's all and he doesn't even have time to return to complete diagnosis. The car was not handled roughly by any of the people above, no wires were pulled and disconnected etc. as I watched and asked and gave them my own suggestions of what I read online. The security light goes off once the key is inserted, no error light lights up on the dash, not even the ECU light. Any experienced person with this car can kindly contact me on the number below, your advice will also be appreciated. Thank you.

Theoritical: Pls, I need help and urgent response. I noticed a funny sound from the legs of my toyata highlander' 05 model . took it to mechanic' he said my under front beam is dead and need replacement. Which is about 25k' guys, for this recession, 25k is almost a million to me. Pls, is there other alternative or should I just keep using the car ? & pls, what's the effect of under beam to cars' I really need to be sure b4 I enter one chance. I am base in Benin
when did cars start to have legs ? wheel
anyway run away there is nothing called front beam on aka wheels aka legs
you need to specify which wheels
and when the noise occurs eg if you hit a bump or turning
Allwility: Lol, am I confused on this? Not at all. I never said you should cross wires like +ve to -ve...You can go through my posts fa.
What we are discussing is why you must not connect the negative terminal of the good battery to the negative terminal of the dead battery. If there's a spark, it can lead to explosion of the battery.
a spark is always there whether you connect correctly or the wrong way but there is a difference in the loudness and spark size
negative of a good battery to negative of dead battery never explode unless if there something wrong with the dead battery especially in africa we dont want to replace things straight away we fiddle with dead thing until it either kills us or finally surrender that the part is dead
the reason we use the metal body is very simple, the body has a better earth contacts than the battery terminal and also your negative cable might be short to reach the battery terminals so you can attacth it to the manifold engine hooks etc
a normal dead battery would not explode if a negative from a good battery is connected to it
esimple4u: nice info bro.. Pls my question is... Should I leave the connection wire that runs from my battery to my car or should I disconnect it while performing this operation... Thanks
the terminals on your battery to you car remain connected
Allwility: That you didn't fry your car on those attempts were all near misses if you know what I mean. Acid batteries produce hydrogen when charged. If you do -ve to -ve connection there are chances of producing a spark which might ignite the hydrogen and explode the battery. The resultant effect might be acid being poured on you or your car's microprocessors being fried.
i think you are being confused
when jump starting or even charging a battery the connection is always positive to positive and negative to negative
then you are jumping from a standalone battery that battery will only discharge 12volts
then if you are jump starting from an running or whether idling or being raved you will only get the regulated current from the running car roughly 14volts which then gets reduce when current get to the dead battery as the dead battery would suck up some volts most likely 2 volts there the remaining 12 volts starts up the car
so tell us when you jump start a car you put positive to negative and then negative to positive no wonder you fry the ECU
qwertygeni: Hello house, l need to know where to buy adhesive used in attaching the rear view mirror to the windscreen cos my mirror just got detached and dropped on me while driving. Also, other possible and workable solutions are welcome.
This is URGENT, please.

Nixon55: For most folks betting their life on manual transmission cars you might want to read the article below because those manual cars are really going into extinction on luxury cars.
Years ago, it was easy to find a wide range of luxury cars with manual transmissions, as they were offered by virtually every manufacturer -- from BMW and Audi to Lexus and Mercedes-Benz. But that's no longer the case: If you're interested in buying a luxury car with a stick shift, you've probably already figured out that there aren't many options left. In fact, you might be wondering if there are any at all. We did a little research, and here's what we discovered.
No More Manuals
A few high-end car brands are out of the manual transmission game entirely. Such brands include Acura, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lexus, Lincoln and Volvo. If you want three pedals in your next luxury car, you'll want to forego visiting one of those brands' dealerships.
Down to One
A few luxury automakers are down to just one stick shift model in their entire product lineup. In the world of Mercedes-Benz, for instance, you can only get a stick shift in the base-level SLK250 roadster. To get an Infiniti with a manual transmission, you have to opt for the Q60S Coupe -- and there's some chance that model won't retain its manual when it's redesigned next year. Finally, Cadillac's sole manual transmission is offered in the ATS, while Buick only offers a stick shift in front-wheel-drive versions of its sporty Regal GS.
The Last Stick Shifts Standing
Fortunately for drivers who like to row their own gears, a few other luxury brands still offer a wider variety of manual transmission models.
Despite Porsche's lightning-quick dual-clutch PDK automatic, for instance, the famed German sports car manufacturer still offers three pedals in each of its sports cars: the Boxster, the Cayman and the 911. Manual transmissions are also still widely available in the BMW lineup, as the sporty luxury brand offers the feature in most versions of its Z4 roadster, 2 Series, 3 Series sedan and 4 Series coupe -- including the high-performance M3 and M4. It's the same story over at MINI, where you can get a stick shift with nearly all the automaker's premium hatchbacks. And Audi still offers three pedals in the A4 and A5, along with their sporty S4 and S5 counterparts.
Our Take
These days, "luxury car" seems synonymous with "automatic transmission" -- and given the level of refinement (and quick-shifting capabilities) of today's automatic gearboxes, it's easy to see why.
Still, if you're one of the few drivers out there looking for three pedals in your next luxury car, there are still a few available options to choose from.
Our only advice: Be prepared for a slightly lower resale value, as luxury cars with automatic transmissions tend to be in higher demand than stick-shift models.
nigerians and americans you think the world evolves around american made things nope
europe has 740 million people and america has 318 million
Manual transmissions are the most common type outside North America and Australia. They are cheaper, lighter, usually give better performance, but the newest automatic transmissions, and CVTs give better fuel economy.[5][6] It is customary for new drivers to learn, and be tested, on a car with a manual gear change. In Malaysia and Denmark all cars used for testing (and because of that, virtually all those used for instruction as well) have a manual transmission. In Japan, the Philippines, Germany, Poland, Italy, Israel, the Netherlands, Belgium, New Zealand, Austria, Bulgaria, the UK,[7] Ireland, Sweden, Norway, Estonia, France, Spain, Switzerland, the Australian states of Victoria,[8] Western Australia and Queensland, Finland, Latvia,[9] Lithuania and the Czech Republic, a test pass using an automatic car does not entitle the driver to use a manual car on the public road; a test with a manual car is required.[citation needed] Manual transmissions are much more common than automatic transmissions in Asia, Africa, South America and Europe.
i agree on part the information said some high end car have only automatic transmission eg a range rover vouge has only automatic transmission but it doesnt mean the whole world is going towards automatic no
you are used to automatic becoz 1 your driving side is like a americans hence you import from america 2 your law requires the steering to be on left side like americans 3 importing from america makes life easy no this conversion like UK imported car
so you got blinkers a race horse you only see america with automatic transmission
NEROSKY: To stop it or reduce it from excessive consumption of fuel, I told my mechanic he said it's likely the injector
someone said it already
give us the figures eg how many litre you fill up and the mileage it gives you
also driving conditions eg speed and driving patterns
a common thing nigerians do is compare two different models of cars when the car are total different in engine size eg comparing a 1.8 litre engine with 3.2litre engine
also gives the information from what the manufacturer has about mpgs of your car
moyo1993: All i can say is, there are cars with both transmissions. Yes i mean automatic and at the same time manual shifts. So just buy one and you can always enjoy both transmission at the same time. That car was bought recently by a friend and i can say it was a great experience driving a car with both the automatic and manual transmission.
remember manual shift of an automatic and of manual car are totally different
shifting of a manual you depress the clutch and shift into the gear you want
the with semi automatic you just push the lever into next gear more like sequential gear box you cant jump from 1 to 3 you follow the sequence 12345 whereas with a manual i can jump from 1 to 3
LadyMercedes: We aren't fighting, sweetie. Everyone is entitled to their opinions.
To each, his own.
never said your opinion is wrong
was just pointing out, the other side you dont see
i.e the rest of europe is manual drive and of cause we find congestation but it never makes people change from manual to automatic
we even have an option when taking a licence, having an automatic car licence or a manual
having a manual means i can drive a automatic with 2 minutes of learning whereas with automatic i have to go back to learn and tested then get the manual licence
First of all, driving in Lagos traffic can be a b*tch! I can't imagine driving a manual car... with the clutching, and braking, and shifting of gear. Life's too short for dislocated shoulders and muscle pulls.
Secondly, I don't know when to shift. Gear one, after 5 seconds, I move to two, and I stay there till the car starts making weird noises, then I shift to three... in that manner.
After driving a car with Automatic transmission, nothing would make me drive manual.
Which would you rather drive, and why? A car with a manual transmission, or one with automatic transmission?
you are all blinded by cars from america
the rest of europe drives manual cars
and this thing of saying traffic and shifting is nonsense
GREATP1: Please I need the experts in the house to enlighten me on the fuel consumption RATIO of SIX PLUGS engine compare to FOUR PLUGS engine. I want to buy RX 300 and I am a bit concern about the fuel consumption. E.g, if FOUR PLUGS consumption 50 litres of fuel in a journey, how many litres will SIX PLUGS likely consume? Thanks
in very simple terms engine configuration has nothing to with mpg
the only comparison you can do if the engine size are the same eg a 3litre lexus vrs 3 litre bwm
GAZZUZZ: he wants direct answers from users based on their experience on "nigerian" roads with nigerian market prices for parts, availability of parts and technical know how to fix vehicle when faulty.
the thread has two questions
1 what is the difference ML 350 and ML 280 CDI both 4matic
HuangXueming: I don't even know what a thermostat is or looks like. It's my first car.
If it is your 1st car then how did you come to conclusion thats it is consuming too much fuel?
How do people by a car without thinking of engine size and fuel consumption ?
Am thinking of getting a range rover next around this time and i know the engine size i want 3litre diesel and i have already checked the mpgs and i know thatni can afford to run it
24hourNigeriane: Dublin-based Edo Nigerian woman who goes by the name Naomi took to Instagram to share her testimony. "Lord we're forever grateful. After 5 years of waiting, we're finally a parents" she wrote.

"I'm so excited. I just can't hide what God has done for us 5 years of waiting on God hmmm.... Nor be joke oh . Lord we will be forever grateful."
honmusa: Seems you need to refresh on this formulae: distance =(speed * time duration of speed) Cars running at same speed might not cover the same distance because it is not practicable they will be able to sustain that same speed through out that duration of travel .
in simple terms 100 miles in bugatti is the same as in a mini cooper but
then the other equation is
how fast a car can accelerate to certian speed eg on top gear they measure to 60 miles per hour hence the phrase 3secs 0 to 60miles per hour, so how fast can the car reach its top speed
they finally can the car maintain that claimed top speed
