maestro2000: According to people who were there and if you listen to the video attentively you will understand the guy broke a law by not paying the train fare, and when the police approached him, he should have obeyed and lay on the ground so he can be cuffed which is standard procedure instead he resisted being cuffed and offered to follow them , did he actually think he is still in nigeria?
The British transport police asked him to lay down so he can be cuffed but he resisted and by not being cuffed he posed a threat to them and himself thereby resulting to the video we just saw. Nigerians need to realise that each country has its own law even here in naija you no fit do that to a police officer, it's either you lose a body part or you lose your life. you nailed it he failed to follow orders, no police officer would want a suspect that is not in his/her control, suspect pose risk to the public and the officer hence police would put you in handcuffs the guy was resisting arrest and unfortunately he met a police officer who was quick to use the baton being in handcuffs doesnt mean you are a criminal, it is all safety procedure for the officer |

JEMMYP: This really gets me wondering, my colleagues were arguing on the issue one day and the guys and amlost of them were on the opinion that when they are ready to settle down they will just select from their two or three girl friends, the one that they feels is well behaved that suits what they want in a woman and marry her. that love sets in afterwards. So i am asking, Do men really marry these day for love? i think you should address the question to women not men why ? traditionally in all races women married men to two reason security for food, shelter status etc then so called love hence the 1st question most african women ask from a guy is can you look after me (aka food security, shelter &status in society) |

FTBOY: hello, guys, i have a problem that i'd need you to help me solve. i recently bought a solara coupe v6 from a colleague coz i got tired of my maxima (i have a mania for v6 cars....because of their speed and big engines). but the problem is this car consumes so much fuel you'd think the tank has a leakage. with the maxima, i can drive from ikoyi to ojota with just, N500 but with this one it's from 1k to 1,500k. i've spent nothing less than 20k to solve this problem as i keep jumping from one mechanic to another but the problem is still there. please, if anybody knows a solution or any good mechanic i can meet, kindly let me know. thanks
cc: gazzuzz there is information missing engine sizes of the old car and the new car, we need to compare the two as you might comparing eg 2.5l vrs 3.5l engine definately they would a different in fuel consumption |

patlead: My steering rack failed causing the pump to become stiff.i had the rack rebuilt and reinstalled after which an allignment was done.
Whilst doing the allignment, they had the steering removed and readjusted,he said he wants to make the wheels allign and be straight.however, after this i realised My steering was no longer locking after i switch off the engine.i asked why that was and he said its because they loosened the steering and that it will reset itself and continue to lock after i turn off the ignitìon and turn the steering for it to be locked.
My questions are;
Should i be bothered because its yet to be reset as advised?
Hope it will not lock whilst am driving?
Its 2000 camry thats not alignment what was done on your car, like you said they took of the steering wheel and aligniged it insteed of aligning the wheels better you go back they put it back the way it was and then take for proper wheel alignment which now done the use of a computer and laser pointers |

cecegorz: All right guys! It's about two weeks now, and I decided to really give it time before dropping another feedback. I want to say firstly that the issue NEVER happened again, and that battery has been performing top-notch as it used to be. While I will say that the Rewire didn't actually pi-point the actual culprit, and couldn't say for sure if the issue was fixed, but his trouble-shooting actions was very much standard procedure. I watched a youtube clip on parasitic drain diagnosis, and it was exactly the same process, the only difference been that instead of using an Ammeter that can read slight differentials in current, he was using a pen bulb. I want to assume that while he was flipping ON and OFF various components switch, he unkwowing fixed one of them which was probably stuck in an ON position.
So, the good news is that I have been enjoying my ride ever since.
cc: ZIMDRILL, GAZZUZZ good to hear, we work in totally different environments and my 10 years in motor industry i have never came across a alternator that drain power from battery when the car is off (this was suggested as the cause ) the good thing is that your car is back to normal from what you said it seems like it was either a normal switch or relay that was stuck and the testing using the bulb triggered it to go back into it normal operating position |

cecegorz: UPDATE! UPDATE!!
I got a Rewire yesterday who came in with one pen bulb with cord, so we pulled out a good battery from another car and kick-started mine, he connected the pen bulb to one of the battery terminals and the bulb came on. I expected the dude to come over with a Voltmeter and take readings from some terminals, but he never did. (This is Nigeria where we test live cables with tongue) He said normally the bulb should go off after a few mins if all connections are in order, but the bulb kept beaming. So, he opened the fuse box, started yanking and replacing the fuselage one after the other, while watching to see when the pen bulb will go off, eventually the light never went off. He advised that I'll need to bring it down to his workshop for a comprehensive scan today, as the preliminary checks didn't turn up any issue. Later he removed the battery while the engine is still running and installed back my battery allowing it to charge up. As my battery charged up, he shut the engine and removed one of the cables (to avoid draining again) on the advise that when I'll leave in the evening, I'll replace the cable and then drive home. I was supposed to repeat the cable removal process when i get home in the night, and replace in the morning to start. So, in the evening I replaced the cable, cranked the car to life and went home, but I deliberately didn't want to remove the cable again. I was preparing for another drama in the morning but surprisingly, when I cranked it, the battery was alive to it's duty and the engine came on immediately, so instead of going to the Rewire's workshop, I went to the office straight. As I parked, I still didn't remove the cable, just trying to see if it will drain again. I just went to the car park now, and checked again, cranked and the car came alive!
I guess I can now assume that the world peace has been restored? P.S. I called the battery dealer to keep my old battery for me, as I can see from these outcomes that the battery is still in good condition
cc: ZIMDRILL, GAZZUZZ also just double check if your battery terminals are very tight. being loose make you think that the battery is dead or hot holding a charge |

My car is a Toyota Corolla 03 what do you really mean when you say it doesnt come up ? its mean to come up aka switch on and then switch of meaning when it switch on aka light show that when it does a self diagnostic and if everything is OK it then switches off but if there is a faulty it stays on if it doesnt switch on at all its either the bulb is gone or it was blocked by someone |
Car Talk › Re: Hilarious? My Car Was Driving Itself! by ZIMDRILL(m): 12:13am On Dec 12, 2015 |
adanny01: Agreed sir. the other simple reason is that, when the car idles for too long while in gear it build up force that will add more contact to the blades inside the torque converter and making more contack grip so thats why you find that when someone leaves the car idling (with right conditions) the few secs eg 30 secs it doesnt move but maybe 30 more secs later the car starts moving because the oil pressure build up inside and more grip on the spining blades inside the converter and then its able to turn the gearbox and the car moves all caused by building up of pressure without even increasing of rpms |
Car Talk › Re: Hilarious? My Car Was Driving Itself! by ZIMDRILL(m): 11:56pm On Dec 11, 2015 |
adanny01: I think i have explained the A/C part a lot of times already.
I think you should imagine the scenerio harder.
The op couldnt have stepped out of his car while it was moving which we all know an auto will keep moving. The op left his car and am sure it wasnt moving. My assumption is that he probably forgot the car in drive, A/C on and pulled the hand brake but not strong enough. So the hand brake was good enough to stop the car but when the A/C compressor activates and added more torque enough to overcome the partially pulled hand brake.
I cant do more explanations or keep repeating the same explanation over and over.
Modification through my experience as long there is no resistance, eg the car being a on steep angle or front wheels facing either side etc an automatic will always move with or without the ACC ON, for sure we know that the handrake wasnt on or it doesnt work so long the there is no load in the car to counter weight the rpms, no handrake on and the surface is flat an automatic will move even when AC is off your theory is also correct but even without something making rpms go high when conditions are good the car will move |
Car Talk › Re: Hilarious? My Car Was Driving Itself! by ZIMDRILL(m): 11:31pm On Dec 11, 2015 |
adanny01: Probably you didnt understand my point.
Leaving a car on idle that is auto trans on drive and on handbrake may not be much of an issue. What i am saiying is that most cars with electronic throttle are programmed to increase rpm when certain loading is added on the engine such as AC, power steering etc. The torque a driver left his car will ultimately increase when those loads come on automatically while the driver is not in the car. The increase in torque can over come the force of the handbrake especially if it wasnt fully pulled.
I gave example of the toyota prado in my office that has an rpm of 850 at idle but once AC kicks in, idle will increase to 950rpm and comes down to 850 once the compressor deactivates. Though the prado is manual, if it were auto, the increase lf rpm from 850 to 950 will increase torque tremendously and if it were in the op's case could move the car. Forces of momentum can keep the car moving even after the load must have disengaged and rpm drops back to previous level.
My case is that the torque remains constant at same idle but once a load is added to the engine such as AC and power steering, electronic throttle is design to increase rpm. The two cars i have access to with electronic throttle (06 prado and 08 accord) both experience increase in rpm once A/C, PS, Headlights, power windows, sunroof turns on at idle. If the car is in drive, you will feel more torque. My own car an 03 accord has a cable throttle, the rpm surges up or down for few seconds when such loads are turned on but normalises to a constant 800rpm. It has a downward surge at loading instant then neutralises and has an upward surge when load goes off then neutralises.
When you put my car on drive, rpm drops to 650 but no matter what, my friends 08 accord never goes below 800rpm and has no downward surge but only upwars surge upon loading.
I hope you understand now. well i dont know why you brought the subject of AC becoz with or without AC on, on a flate surface with no hand brake being ON and in gear aka drive an automatic car will move on, but this would be only when the car has less load so the changing rpms due load eg headlight on, AC on etc wasnt really necessary (to me) when trying explain why the car moved |
Car Talk › Re: Hilarious? My Car Was Driving Itself! by ZIMDRILL(m): 9:56pm On Dec 11, 2015 |
adanny01: It can happen most especially on cars with electronic trottle.
Those cars usually increase rpm when engine power consuming parts of the car is activated such as A/C, power steering, cooling fan and headlights.
If he left his car on hand brake pulled but not fully and the car running on A/C but compressor is clutch is not engaged at the moment he stepped out, the car can overcome the hand brake as soon as the clutch engages while he is not in the car. My office Toyota prado idles with ac off at 850rpm but as soon as AC engages it goes up to 950 and back down to 850 when it disengages.
The same thing happens when the steering is turned att idle.
So a car that is automatic and left at idle on drive can overcome the hand brake when rpm moves from 850 to 950 at AC clutch engagement.
Even on my 2003 accord, i usually feel the need to press the brakes harder when AC engages at idle and on drive. It has a cable activated throttle but somehow, engine rpm remains same during AC on or off but only moves during activation and deactivation but adjust itseelf back to 800rpm. I guess thats why no matter how good my engine mounts are, my friends 2008 accord on AC is more smoother because his rpm goes up with the with AC activation. it got nothing to do with a electronic throttle its all about the automatic gearbox when idle and in drive the car will move especially when it flat and no handdrake reason being that the idle speed has torque that is making the torque converter engage the gearbox therefor the car moves (this happens inside the torque converter) |
