Car TalkRe: Does Driving In Neutral Gear Save Fuel ? by ZIMDRILL(m): 12:25pm On Sep 15, 2012
erico2k2: its dangerus when done for too long as you dont have Engine braking.
nothing dangerous about it, is the car will be just in neutral, you only have to engage the right gear based with speed the vehicle is moving
Car TalkRe: Pls, What Is Mot And Tax In Uk by ZIMDRILL(m): 3:25am On Aug 30, 2012
677ano: You can park any car on the road provided it is parked legally in designated parking space
having said that if your car does not have a valid MOT, road TAX and Insurance this will be picked up by the police ANPR system (automatic number plate recorgnition) if parked or driven on the road and you will certainly have issues with the authorities.

You will get a fine with your car seized and you will incure cost for every day your car is at the storage
If you are unlucky your car could possibly be crushed and recycled it does not matter the cost or value of the car
the key word i said is PUBLIC ROAD any car which has no road TAX on public road will be campled by the DVLA or towed away by the police whether is it parked in the designated parking space

Car TalkRe: Pls, What Is Mot And Tax In Uk by ZIMDRILL(m): 12:56am On Aug 29, 2012
werepeLeri: MOT is Ministry of Transport Test - you take your vehicle in for check, if it passes all checks, it gets a MOT certificate - which is renewable.

TAX - Vehicle Tax i suppose. Every car on the road must have a Tax certificate - a road tax certificate.
You must buy a car with valid MOT certificate and TAX - if no Tax - u can Tax it yourself. IF no MOT, it may be faulty.
its not mandatory to buy a car with MOT and TAX but the car wont be allowed to be on the road, the same with a MOT and TAX only if you are not insured
the only difference with the above is that the car with MOT and TAX can be parked in public road, the one without MOT but with TAX can be parked in public road but can be driven becoz it doesnt have MOT which is a road worth certificate

on buying one without any of the two it depends on individuals eg DIY guy can get a car without MOT aslong he knows what failed on the car and the cost to repair it though the repairing bill will be added to total money you bought the car

whereas on average most people want a car with an average 5 months mot and tax so that s/he will just insure the car and s/he is on the road
Car TalkRe: Peugeot: Cars With Attitude! by ZIMDRILL(m): 8:48am On Aug 28, 2012
Aqva: Ikenna, hope u had a swell day?
My 206 has central lock problem. The BSI seems to be the issue. I fixed a new BSI and d central lock started working but the car won't start because of the immobilizer and it has to be recoded to work with my car's ECU. Did some online research and found out that a BSI cannot be recoded. The only option is to buy a new BSI and ECU from the same car and transfer to my car before it will work. How true is this? Isn't there some guru that can actually program the new BSI to work with my car?

Another unfortunate thing is that the new BSI i put in my car briefly changed my mileage from 44,000 to 145,000. I read that fixing a new BSI changes the reading of the mileage. Imagine my car that is pretty low on mileage now taking on the mileage of an older car. Can i get someone to reprogram the mileage? The new BSi wasn't even used because d car won't start, it was just fixed to test if the central lock would work.

Honestly, this newer model of cars have too much wahala. My central lock controls my boot and d boot has no external opener, therefore my boot no longer opens and i have no access to my spare tire. I really feel like selling the car.
a BSI should be bought with its original ECU and keys that is if its taken our from another car or else the new BSI unit has to be programmed

Car TalkRe: Camry 99 Thermostat Removal by ZIMDRILL(m): 10:16am On Aug 17, 2012
mobuch: I guess it may be neccessary to let u know that brand new cars sold in nigeria and designed for the tropics and the nigerian market don't have thermostats installed in them. Its only used cars which are imported n not originally built for the nigerian market that have these thermostats installed in them.

These thermostats r designed for cars in cold climates to prevent n regulate their engines from getting to a freezing point n keeping it warm. Using it here would lead to d engine getting too hot and overheating, instead of keeping it warm as it does in cold sub-zero temperature climates.

When about 3o different mechanics n experienced old time drivers advise u to do the same thing, I guess their advise might be in order,.
if thats the case how come all cars designed for hot climates still have a thermostat ?

remember nigeria is not as place like dubai but you still find cars designed for such area which thermostat

Nairaland GeneralRe: How Did Spammers Get Our E-Mail Addresses? by ZIMDRILL(m): 6:47pm On Aug 15, 2012
afam4eva: I thought as much too. There's no way they would have gotten email addresses except they hacked into Nairaland database.
still they can but not directly all you need is a program that genarate a random email addresses and sent emails to those emails generated. they wait for you to respond either by just opening it or by replying. opening or replying tells them that the email address is active, then the rest is history
Car TalkRe: My 'service Soon' Indicator Is Still On by ZIMDRILL(m): 3:11pm On Aug 14, 2012
mikkybrick: Wrong! The service engine soon/check engine/check lights all fall in the category of Malfunction Indicator Lamps (MIL). Depending on car manufacturer, it is purely syntax. On my Nissan Altima, the "Service Engine soon" light came up and i scanned and found some trouble codes. The MIL indicator usually comes up to alert you on an emission related problem with your car (O2 sensor, Air/fuel sensor, Catalyst problems exhaust etc.)

@OP, do a scan and analyse the codes. proceed to clear the MIL. if you drive for a few minutes and it comes back up, it means those codes need to be attended to.

my 2cents
well all the UK cars i HAVE WORKED dont say SERVICE ENGINE SOON meaning MIL there is a clear ChECK ENGINE LIGHT SIGN OR WORDS and is never says SERVICE ENGINE SOON meaning a MIL

It seems like the japenese had a translator who was bad in english
Car TalkRe: Peugeot: Cars With Attitude! by ZIMDRILL(m): 1:47pm On Aug 14, 2012
anyone had a problem with a 307 BSI unit we ended up selling the car at the auction and it went for £300

the bsi unit controls the central locking, immobilser, windows, mileage on the odometer etc

the unit sometimes corrupts its self and there is a procedure to reset, we didnt know that so we got an ECU with its BSI unit and the keys and swapped with the ones on car

the car started fine but the moment you close the doors even when the car is running it would look itself up and the windows were not working to lower or rise had to press the window switches and at the same time pressing the remote control

Car TalkRe: My 'service Soon' Indicator Is Still On by ZIMDRILL(m): 11:59am On Aug 14, 2012
octar6: changing the engine oil of your car doesn't mean that you have serviced your car. The "service engine soon" warning lights up on your car dashboard to alert you to a problem with your car. You need a computer scanner or code reader to diagnose the issue. so,to be on a safer side try and run a scan on your car.
your are wrong service light just means service is due

and it seems like its common confusion when people service cars after the light comes on, expect the light to go off on its own after the service

the light wont go off if it is not reset manually or by the OBDII the most common procedure is press the odometer reset button keep on holding and turn the key on (just TURN on dont start the car) keep on holding and watching the dashboad there will be some activities going on some cars they do a count down resetting to 0 in its service memory log in the ecu

the light wont be turned off becoz the service has been done the two procedures i mentioned above are the ones that switch off the light

you are confusing CHECK ENGINE LIGHT which means the ECU is picking a fault from car sensors connected to the ECU aka computer box
HealthRe: Using Tissue Or Water After Toilet, Which Is More Hygienic? by ZIMDRILL(m): 7:49pm On Aug 13, 2012

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggJrAIZ4Kjo

the japanese for you

there is confusion between those who adopted christian/ the west type of doing or the muslim way

i once stayed with a guy from algeria before he come to the west he was told that the west people use bare hands to wipe the arse but the truth is that it is a bare hand but with a tissue and your fingers contact the shiiit

so it think it is the same with west people we cant figure how you wipe your arse with water so i think people have to explain how they do it

in the video above the toilet sprays water on your arse then it blow dries it in africa and the rest of the world people dont even have a flush toilet so if there are using water how do they do it without getting contack with shiiit and arse hole ?
Car TalkRe: Accidented Or High Mileage Cars. Which Are Better? by ZIMDRILL(m): 9:55pm On Aug 08, 2012
Fhemmmy: Not totally true at all, SIr . . . In most cases, yeah.
Try and let a "Chinese" hit your ride and you will see how they will beg and apologize for them to fix the ride and dont get the police involved.
you are missing the point why would let him/her go if it is a serious damage to your car ?

we are not talking of bumper scratching we talking of something that will make your car being twisted and heated to be straight etc
Car TalkRe: Accidented Or High Mileage Cars. Which Are Better? by ZIMDRILL(m): 9:33pm On Aug 07, 2012
Fhemmmy: Ofcourse, anywhere in the world apart from Africa, a serious accident, MOST will be reported and tested, but here is a question for you . . . You enter into a serious accident in UK and you know that your insurance premium will go up ( I dont know UK too well oh) once the accident is reported and you have an uncle who has a great body work shop . . . would go and report the accident, if the police was not called to the scene of an accident ( In Canada, it is even a crime to leave a scene of an accident without reporting or calling the authority . . . but would you fix the ride yourself by your uncle and dont report it, or would you call the insurance and the police and report it and damn the consequence of paying more premium, please be honest and dont be politically right
that will only work if you have an accident on your own you are able to tow the car without being seen by the public
Car TalkRe: Accidented Or High Mileage Cars. Which Are Better? by ZIMDRILL(m): 12:11pm On Aug 05, 2012
Fhemmmy: How do u really know a ride that has not been in an accident apart from someone that is able to tell an accidental ride from the one that has never been in an accident apart from the one that is shown to you on the VIN Number, i have said it before and will say it AGAIN . . . VIN is not good enuf to show a ride that has an accident on NOT, what if it was not recorded.

I will buy and use both a high mileage ride, especially one bought in western world and not on those death trapped roads
it depends with the country here in uk if there serious body damage to the car, the car has to be retested by the government body to be back on the road and that will show on the system if you check the car's history

so here in uk you can check if the car has been involved in any serious accidents
Car TalkRe: Accidented Or High Mileage Cars. Which Are Better? by ZIMDRILL(m): 8:39pm On Jul 30, 2012
Emperoh: One of the toughest choices for any informed car buyer.
For me, accidented cars make it as long as i know where the impact was from and to what extent the car was damaged.
The truth about high mileage cars is that their internal parts may be nearing the end of their life cycle and the new user
will then be saddled with changing one worn part after another.

If your case is worse enough and you buy a car which the previous owner was not a meticulous user who services the unit regularly
and doesn't change the parts as recommended by the manufacturer, then you can be sure that your period of ownership will be fraught with
unpleasant stories and expenses.

In all, a buyer should be properly made to be aware of what he is buying into and necessary situations
painted clearly for him/her.

But to ensure peace of mind, please save up enough and buy a clean title vehicle.
its better to save your life by getting a high mileage than accident damage becoz you dont know how much damage was done to the car's body structure

FamilyRe: He Sells His Wife's Chin-chin In The Office by ZIMDRILL(m): 3:47pm On Jul 25, 2012
nahinbdis: I work in one of the foriegn Banks in VI. I have this close pal (a team leader) that recently started selling his wife's chin-chin in the office. I found he initially brought some for product testing in order to obtain valuable feedback for improvement. However people loved it and asked him to keep bringing and he has just started.

Thing is the guy is not broke (I know his pay and he drives an SUV). Someone commented today that he must really love the wife to do that. Another said its not so cool. I think its not so bad afterall particularly because the wife is just starting. What do you think?
some say small minds discuss people and big minds discuss idea

it starts from selling chin-chin then it grows big

ever thought that the profit from chin chin can cover his weekly chin chin and the money that was meant for fuel can be used for something else eg save it for college or university etc

kc baba007: diagnose it 1st
the reason i left the diagnostic as hooking up to an ODBII tool kit its becoz he never mentioned that MIL light come on, on the dashboard which means the problem is not related to the sensors so roughly its mechanical there many mechanics are not good with automatic gear box

unless if you mean taking out the gearbox down and do a visual check

Car TalkRe: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by ZIMDRILL(m): 2:11pm On Jul 23, 2012
truth4meal: Yes @gear box. Automatica. V6. It jerks like crazy and ve taken it to few mechanics wit claim dat they can fix it but to no avail. Its not the filter the last dude that worked on it recommended a new gear box.
well even here UK not all mechanics can tackle a automatic gearbox you have to take it to specialises in automatic gearbox, when i was back home in zim i never liked automatics based on the idea that most mechanics wouldnt fix an automatic gearbox now i love automatics becoz i understand them though i dont fix them

so recomend you to automatic gearbox specialist if there is none better get a replacement

Opera Mini: Please guys,
I drive a '97 Bulldog, which i got in Nov. 2011. I observed that the fuel consumption of that car is on the high side. I've taken it to various mechanics, all to no avail. My mechanic worked on it again last week as i was to travel to Benin with it. I bought a full tank of 65 litres on Friday, and it took me for a total of 305kms (The longest distance a full tank had taken me) from Owerri to Benin and back to Owerri, before it entered reserve. Someone should please advise me on what else to do about this, thanks.
it always helps if you give us the engine capacity you might be makinga mistake comapring your car with a smaller engine

ayoflyn: I will continue to thank the first poster for creating this thread,
this was needed for a long while. Pls i beg the members here to help me out, i have used honda bullet before and i loved it so much but had to upgrade a little to baby boy.
The thing that i suffer so much is the drastic change in the fuel consumption that i now bear. The thing is that when i start the car in the mornig it starts once and its idles normally for about a minute, then it goes to high and begins to raise and drop from 2 back to 1 up and down like its breathing. I took it to defferent rewires, they reduce the ignition but the it doesnt pick up. it doesnt idle, i am sure thats the source of my fuel going to waste.
Please Please Please Please Please can anyone tell me how to stop this predicament i have been using it like that for almost a year, and i am sure jthe fuel i wasted would be almost half of what i have bought.
please help me with your advice.
Thank you.

what do mean you took it to rewires and reduce the ingnition

they should check the IDLE CONTROL VALVE

which year is your car and what model of honda is it i might your were the control valve is

just adding on checking the fuel pump the best way is to pressure test fuel system and based ont the figure from the manufacturer

lacasa: Hello all,

i drive a. 2k5 honda accord, ii αve a problem.

While i'm driving i notice dat after i slow down or wen i want ϯo re-accelerate sometimes, the engine vibrates (shakes) until i lift my foot off the throttle completely, bt wen i put my foot back on the throttle it moves normally.

i thought it was the spark plugs causing this, but i've changed the 4 plugs with new ones but it still does same.

a mechanic said it's probably from the fuel pump.

Any ideas wat it ishuh
try to also clean the throttle body and put and addictive in fuel to clean the injectors

RICHIE BOI: Transmission gear oil gauge. this should be checked too and topped if its short. The radiator water should also be checked in the morning before starting the car.
the means you have a problem already

cooliant and oil should checked once in while that depends on your travel eg you can check after ever 200 kms or every month not every morning before starting the car

Car TalkRe: Pls Urgent Advice Needed: My Front Left Wheel Gets Real Hot After Driving. by ZIMDRILL(m): 11:47pm On Jul 19, 2012
BizBooks: That is part of the mis-conception. Some people assume that the emergency brakes can only be
pulled by the hand (handbrake as you called them). But some of them are placed underneath the
dash board, near the foot pedals. You engage those with your foot. If you engage them without
knowing, your tyres will get hot real fast.

I'm not saying that is the case here. One cannot tell without actually seeing the car.
you missed my point yes especially mercedes benz got handbrake which is applied by foot but my point was that when you apply handbrake on all the cars i have worked on the locked wheels are back ones, the cables runs to the back not front

hence you also pointed out that it must be the caliper since it is a LEFT FRONT WHEEL
