The court order involves a resident of Abuja signing over some property and putting up N50m as surety.
There's been plenty of noise but no one has fulfilled the release requirements.

Ijeoma Ojukwu, the judge presiding over the case of Omoyele Sowore,convener of #RevolutionNow Movement, says she is concerned that the activist has not meet the bail conditions granted to him.

While ruling on the application for variation of the bail conditions on Monday, Ojukwu said: “Considering the pedigree of the first defendant as observed in his application, it is rather unfortunate that no one is willing to stand as his surety on those terms.

“On the other hand, it creates an assumption that despite the pedigree of the first defendant, none of his best associates is willing to stand for him. This poses a cause for concern.”

She explained that bail sum is not required to be deposited but when a court makes an order for security, the secure money is later returned to the owner (surety).

The activist has been in custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) since August 3 when he was arrested in Lagos.

Femi Falana, Sowore’s counsel, had approached the court seeking a variation to the previous bail conditions which he said could not be met.

Ojukwu reviewed Sowore’s bail conditions and set aside the previous order which directed one of Sowore’s surety to deposit N50m.

She also reduced the bail sum of Olawale Bakare, the second defendant, to N30m instead of the initial N50m.

However, she refused to vary all the other conditions for bail.

Among the other conditions of the for bail are two sureties who must be resident in Abuja and have landed properties within the federal capital territory (FCT).

The court had held that the sureties must deposit original documents of those properties in the court registry.

The judge barred him from travelling outside Abuja and also stopped him from addressing any rally.

finding buyers while demand from refiners seeking grades
suitable to make fuel oil compliant with new shipping rules was
supporting the light, sweet Nigerian crude market.

ANGOLA
* About 8 Angolan cargoes remain from the December programme
after a flurry of deals last week, traders said, about two less
than was estimated on Monday. Total was thought to have sold
four or five cargoes in the last few days.

NIGERIA
* Qua Iboe was last offered at dated Brent plus $3.60, the
highest since 2014.
Cheap freight and higher demand are helping to buoy the
market for light, sweet Nigerian grades.

TENDERS
* Indian Oil Corp issued a tender to buy west African crude
loading Jan. 5-14. The tender closes on Thursday.

Sowore’s lawyer says Suleman was not eligible to stand surety for the detained activist.

Embattled activist and Sahara Reporters publisher, Omoyele Sowore, has turned down a surety offer from Apostle Johnson Suleman of Omega Fire Ministries.
Suleman had on Monday, November 4, 2019, stated that he may stand surety for Sowore regardless of how the journalist has hurt him.

“I am really worried that nobody is ready to stand surety for @YeleSowore.. yes he has hurt a lot of people,me inclusive. But do we focus on that and let his rot where he is wvwn (sic) if he caused it in a situation like this what will Christ do?.am ‘considering’ standing bail for him..,” Suleman tweeted.

In response to the surety offer, one of Sowore’s lawyers, Inibehe Effiong, said Suleman was not eligible to stand surety for the detained activist.

While emphasizing that the court was clear that the surety must be resident in Abuja, Effiong maintained that the offer cannot be considered,

Asides the fact that he is not eligible for the surety, Effiong said Suleman has had a public altercation with his client (Sowore).

Addressing how the activist will meet his bail conditions, Effiong said the Federal Government had politicized the matter by discouraging people from standing surety for his client.

Effiong however expressed confidence that the activist will meet his bail conditions soon.

Punch quotes the lawyer as saying, “His (Suleman’s) offer cannot be considered let alone accepted. The man who is making the offer is on record of having had a public altercation with Sowore. So, there will be no basis for Sowore to consider it.

“The court stated that the surety must be resident in Abuja and the last time I checked, he was not resident in Abuja. So, I am not sure he is eligible to stand surety for him. So there is no way Sowore can accept such an offer.

“So, we are turning it down and we are not even considering it. The way the Federal Government politicized the matter, made it difficult for the bail conditions to be met. But we are in the process of perfecting the bail.”

Recall that Sowore was arrested in the early hours of Saturday, August 3, 2019, after announcing his plan to stage a nationwide protest tagged #RevolutionNow.
