TV/Movies / Re: Jagun Jagun: Femi Adebayo's Movie Gets Tongues Wagging by gidiMonsta(m): 3:13pm On Aug 12, 2023
MT:
Wacky storyline. Nice visual effect.

Yorubas don't fight like Spartacus in war or in a fight challenge, the ending is so predictable and the story line is so tacky - A bad replica of "the woman king" movie.

Yorubas don't fight wars without consulting ifa, Ogun and other gods for directions. How many wars did Ogunjimi fight in the movie that made him Jagunjagun?

The movie presents an invasion and not a war

Femi Adebayo, dressing like a roman king, which I found so alien - should not have acted that part - Chatta or Lalude could have been spot on.

Wars were fought like Romans army with swords, without any consultation with the gods. Yorubas used charms, and other weapons, to fight in their wars but due consultations would be made to the gods.

All in all, for me:

Story Line - 20%

Visual Effect - 65%

PR (Hyping of the movie) - 100%

Anikulapo movie still remains distant number 1

You’re the one confusing myths with history. Most Yoruba battles were fought with Swords and guns, charms were used to supplement and enhance them. I suspect you’re confusing those old Abija movies for history.

If it’s in Nigeria now you’ll see sell outs from Yorubawood

Imagine the entire Nollywood wants to embark on national strike

You’ll see people like Eniola Badmus & Toyin Ibrahim will boycott the protest and go ahead shooting movies

Stupid country

You guys are just so dull. This is not a political strike, it’s a protest against the big studios in Hollywood and not the government. It’s not everything you have to relate to Nigeria, educate yourself please. Merci 🙏🏾

Lol, don't be ridiculous, how can Nigerian culture be older than Ghana when historically Ghana is as old as Egypt, Nigeria came into being in 1914. Ghana was already an empire way back the 10th century

NB - To those displaying their ignorance under my mention saying Ghana was formed in 1957 bla bla bla. They had the name Ghana before the White man gave them the name "Gold coast" which doesn't have any meaning in Africa language. When the white man left they had to go back to their ancient and ancestral name. Nigerian government must as a matter of urgency reintroduce history into the curriculum. The ignorance about history for many people reeks. It's no longer funny

The historical Empire of Ghana is not the same as the Republic of Ghana (different geographical locations). Just as the Benin Empire is NOT the same as Republic of Benin.

It’s funny how you insult people for being ignorant, only to drop an ignorant statement yourself 🫢

Rapuru14:
If Lagos were to be located somewhere around east and Igbo historical relationship with Lagos happened to be what Yoruba is to Lagos today believe me Lagos would have been a true centre of excellence and melting point of all talents in Nigeria.

Do you know why I share this sentiment, Igbos irrespective of their weaknesses love competition. They would be happy to welcome any talent that will challenge what they already have. This is the reason why Igbos have many rich men because everyone wants to be the best. Though it attracts some envy but the positive effects of competitive mindset is more than the backdrops.

Here we have supposed intelligent Yorubas fighting a tribe divinely blessed just because they feel Igbos are outshining them.

What stops you from shinning your own in your own way? Or you don't trust God to make you also shine through your efforts?

The world is fast moving. If the few demonically tribalistic Yorubas don't change, they will be left behind.

Everybody is important

Na so! Mention ONE Igbo city that is as multiethnic as Ibadan! You guys accuse everyone of being bigots when you’re literally the most hostile tribe to visitors in the entire country.

The religious intolerance on this thread is shocking. No wonder Nigeria is where it is today. Are Bank staff no longer entitled to one hour breaks? If they choose to use that for Jumaat on Friday, is it the manager’s business? In Nigeria most organizations have no regard for their workers’ needs, they close way beyond the time their contract stipulates with no OT whatsoever. Yet we have some zombies here who also been oppressed by their employers hurling islamophobic slurs at Muslims. Most Nigerians are morons and that’s why the country will continue to be on a downward trajectory.

The last time I checked Nigeria is not fighting a war against a foreign country. Boko Haram for example is a local construct designed by northern interest groups to return power to the north. If the dog no longer listens to his masters whistle calls, the master simply needs to speak to him in the same language they both understand, be it Hausa, Fulfude, or Kanuri.
The civilized countries of the world refused (and rightly so) to sell you weapons because they know you will turn it on the people.
As for Biafra (which is the real reasons you are really thinking about building weapons locally after foreigners turned you down), all they want is freedom. If you cannot give them freedom, be rest assured that you cannot outproduce them if it ever comes to that.
Dialogue saves millions of lives and cash.

Your statement is devoid of any concrete reasoning, it seems you're a bigot like the rest of your ilks on here. Have u ever seen any powerful nation without an homegrown military industrial complex? Must you wait for war before you start preparing? South Africa has not fought any war since the 80's, yet our Armed Forces needed their mercs and weapons to turn the ride against BH, that's just very shameful for the supposed most powerful nation on the continent..

BTW: FCK BIAFRA. We say no to useless borders in Africa.

hinwazaka:
The Nation newspaper, unfortunately do not comprehend what Boko Haram is. It is very sad that in Nigeria we are so blind that we fail to see a elephant at one, but rather call it a bug. The Boko Haram sect are TERRORISTS, not militants or rebels. Their primary at is to cause terror to the populace. They are not interested in cheap monetary rewards. After all while buy milk when you can take the cow. They make far much more as terrorists than whatever can be offered to them. This is a regional war not local, they are in Chad, Cameroon and Niger. So if we have a deal with them what about their attacks on our neighbours, will that stop too. We need to start seeing this as a war not a campaign. Until then am afraid the Boko Haram will remain the dominant force, and not us

It's really difficult to totally crush a group like BH. The best we can get is preventing them from holding any territory within our borders, however they can easily organize small pockets of terror cells dedicated to hitting soft targets (Istishhad). Even NATO decided to pull out of Iraq rather than lose more men to horde of suicide bombers. There are only two ways to stop reduce this;
1. Kill all muslims in Nigeria with the BH ideology (this will most likely fuel the ranks of BH with more volunteers) or
2. Use the carrot and stick approach: pummel them as much as possible whilst offering an olive branch at the same. Statistically, many cell leaders will reach out to the branch when the heat becomes too much.

Radio Biafra just made a huge mistake! They have given the Nigerian state ample reason to hunt them now. You can't hack radio equipments and hijack random frequencies, it's sedition against the Republic. That bigot Nnamdi Kanu can be arrested and extradited to Nigeria (though I'll advise against that, it'll only make the fool a hero).

Who cares about Radio Biafra anyways? The real igbos don't give a flying f**k, they just wanna make money and live fine.

Politics / Re: Umahi: FG has moved Boko haram prisoners out of south-east by gidiMonsta(m): 8:32am On Jul 10, 2015
It's common sense that the prisoners be moved to prisons far removed from any BH stronghold to prevent their members from attempting any rescue mission, as they would be unable to amass the force needed to achieve that without alerting authorities in the south. I think Nigeria should build a secret offshore prison facility in Sao Tome or Equatorial Guinea for BH prisoners.

Nigerias political elite now needs British/western validation before they can feel comfortable in their skin! I don't know whether this is a sign of habitual inferiority complex or not but what has become very self evident is the fact that in their desperation to solidify the hausa-fulani/Yoruba political dominance in Nigeria, politicians from this part of the country have more or else smuggled Nigeria back into colonialism. . Unleashing a very anti nigerian brand of politicking that neglects the ordinary Nigerian while auctioning off this countrys economic assets to western multi nationals.
