Gentlemen/Ladies

I believe sometimes it is better to ignore some comments you are not comfortable with or make your stand known in a very courteous manner, it is true when it comes to the NSE some of us need the "mammary gland" at least until we are able to feed on our own. This site had developed a lot of people not only on stock matters but on interpersonal skills, conflict management and it has become a very educative forum.

I believe we are all gentleman/ladies and should understand that sometimes it is better to keep quiet in order to preserve one's integrity than to defend one's self in an inappropriate manner. This forum represents what is good about Nigeria and it is actually the only site I know where every Nigerian is after the good of his brother/sister.

It might surprise you that a lot of non Nigerians also visit this site and have been quite impressed.

I would like to apologise to everyone who has felt insulted either directly or indirectly in the last few days. (ORI IDOBALE NIMOWA)

Normally at this time we would be getting the full analysis of the day and there would be one or two candle sticks glowing and when it gets very hot, you can always count on a cartoon sneaking in to cool our nerves. The only fighting witnessed was always between the bulls and the bears grin

All Gurus,

Please comeback as you have invested so much to this forum and it would not be the same without you, it is understandable if you want to be a silent reader for a while but don’t jump ship yet.

NB: I THINK IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA FOR MODERATORS TO EXIST ON THIS FORUM.

Please if you feel offended by any of my comments; send your grievances to orisebawo@yahoo.com

Okomu, you need to be a weather forecaster to deal with that one.

Not excited about UTC. Not a stock that I would love to keep in my portfolio.

Don't expect movement in Oceanic till April/May. However, if you have a 12 months horizon, UBA and Oceanic are good candidates. You may however wait till May before picking them up.

NB: I am not a CICO person so may be biased in my suggestion/comment.

@Wanajo

Thank you for the insight

Good evening Elder Napolean,

I just saw your message on the change of venue, it would have been nice to have attended the meeting this afternoon, I called Trader Vic thrice but they insisted they were closed at 3pm to be open at 5pm and that no meeting was booked at the restaurant i was also there at 6pm incase there has been a change of time and was told the same thing.

I look forward to attending any future meetings

@

Abu Maryam

is APT securities meeting  your needs or treating you the way you would like? I do not think they are very serious, they cater for a lot of agege hausawa. How long have you been with them?

you need to use an efficient broker. Consider www.tiddosecuritiesltd.com  www.finmalfinance.net or www.newdevco.com

Finmal are good, they are quiet but discering wealthy arewa use them. Check out the board. Kin gane ko?

I dot believe in all those large brokers that have thousands of clients and a fancy website. The more you look the less you see. Any firm that has thousands of clients and fifty staff or less should worry you. How efficient can they really be. You need to be able to be talking to the MD and the actual trader and if necessay text/call him during trading. I do not believe in all this account officer waste of time, that does not trade or understand your objectives.

Does anybody know if these guys are serious http://www.piconigeria.com there is something quietly happening but I have no previous information on the company until two weeks ago and I do not know any of their board members so I personally am not interested. I suspect they are small time contractors.

MBC bank was absorbed by First bank. Their stockbrokers which was an affiliation is doing a quiet placement, however listing may not be a soon as you would expect. www.mbcsec.com their Chairman is a sound guy.

I will not bother mentioning what I feel may be out of reach to newer investors, over N100m to enter or very restricted.

@ Blueband we come from a culture of respect. My first born came in 1971 so let your youth not lead you to give your elder a hand shake that will pass the elbow.

Did any Londonites go to the waste of time at the institute of directors yesterday? The MD of Interswitch said his company had been inundated with calls from a forum demamnding pp. That will not make them release documents faster, as you know most comps raise funds ast different levels of placement. Tomorrow 3pm at trader vicks there will be a small late lunch discussing some telecom companies that are planning more quiet goodies this year, two MD will be there.

Will log in tuesday. Where is Wanaj0 I did not see him online today

@Roughcut, I will disagree with you on one point. UBA Share plus is actually the best in the market so far. I know because i am using it. You do not pay any interest or capital till after 1 year. You also have an option to renew after 1 yr and I intend to. In addition, the mgt fee was only 2%. That was all I paid. Nothing more.

Every other bank I have approached(quite a number) have stupid charges and crazy payback periods. I may have to settle for 1st Bank in the end.

Yes you use their stockbrokers but the charges are fair. 1% commission plus all the other charges as specified by SEC.

@Orisebawo, is this the original list you were given in July? The list I had at that time which I still use has CCNN(bought at 19.50), Vitafoam(bought at 9.99) and some others. It even has Unic insurance, Royal exchange Assurance. The one stock they don't have is Dangote Sugar. This is because it was just newly listed then.

When taking a facility like this, you eed to speak with a very experienced broker. They can give you insights on what to buy. NBC was a very good candidate in January. Their end of year is this month and I expect results similar to NB sice they are coming out of a loss position.

Speak to the guys over there. I was told that you could buy using the list you were given as at July last year. I know it is revised but was told it applies to any new applicant.

GTB will definitely give you at least 2 million profit considering the volume you have.

Goodluck though

@ DEBENZD

Thanks for the information that is really an eye opener, i wasnt given a list when i applied for the share plus in July as i was only interested in Firstbank, it was when money was returned that i was sent the list 2 months ago.

I will speak to my broker first thing tomorrow morning and ask for the list that was in operation when i took out the facility.

RoughCut:

Hmnn from a very rough estimate you have made about N1.9M in profits. The sell candidates in your portfolio should be Diamond and UBA but if you do you will actually make a loss after commission and charges and you don't actually have the time. They are medium-long term stocks but you don't have the luxury of time on your side. GTB will do well anyway.

The only stock on that list i can recommend is NB they are doing very well but its got a fairly high nominal value but if you don't mind you fit enter and hopefully they do well again for Q1 in March but don't expect results until May so you can lock in your profits just before then.

Unfortunately there are no CICO stocks in that list and i would be reluctant to recommend you do CICO considering you are using leveraged funds.

The problem with UBA Shareplus loan is that the costs are excessive i'm assuming this is the facility you got and i think it comes with 17% interest i think and then a 5% adm fee or something like that which you have to pay upfront.
Next time don't take a margin facility that restricts your choice of stocks.

Not sure i need to add the usual CAVEAT EMPTY if you don't make money on NB then may be you need to go and do something else

All the best!

Thank you for the advice,It is the shareplus offer and it was meant for FBN PO, i will take you advice and get NB, i have definitely learnt my lesson.

And don't forget that in the UK house prices have more than doubled in the last 5-7 years if you are opportuned enough to get in on the action that is

RoughCut:

You only need to release £60K and get a mortgage for £240K for about 10 years and who says you have to pay off the mortgage in 10 years? You can pay it off sooner! Assuming you are buying a house worth that amount

I thought he was thinking of buying the house cash down(N75M)

Houses in my area have definitely not doubled in the last 5-7 years, i know the Office of national Statistics says so but it is yet to happen in the open market, maybe if you buy at auctions

Yes, actually considering this option, thankfully, the Real estate boom in the UK did not pass me by, I for dey bite finger now,

But someone, it just seems easier to make this type of $ out there,

You will need to release a  large amount of equity to buy a N75m (£300,000), that house in the UK will have to be fantastic for you to be able to do such plus you will need at least £2200 to service it every month.

It also happened here in the UK, when an elderly couple wanted their son who had just finished school in Nigeria to join them in the UK and the authorities requested that the son goes thru a DNA test and the result showed the man wasn't the father, the son is about 25 years old and the couple are in their late fifties. The man was devastated but understanding but the son was much more devastated.

This is what i got from tradeinvest

The federal government is looking for a new investor in NITEL and Mtel to improve the companies' fortunes. NITEL is Nigeria's first national telephone carrier and Mtel its mobile arm.

A year after the Transnational Corporation (Transcorp) took over the operational side of the company, both the federal government and Transcorp has agreed to divest a percentage of their equity to a new investor.

According to the government they are looking for a core investor who is an industry player with a focus, technical expertise, managerial experience and financial capacity to turn NITEL/Mtel around.
