Maybe you answered their questions with replies that contradicted your pre visa interview and questionaire.?

Maybe your accompanied baggage had a commercial load appearance of too many items to claim as just for your own personal use?

Was there contraband involved? Did they call your USA contacts before or during your arrival and find no one on the line to answer? Or maybe the person who answered could not corroborate your filed personal information?

Did you disrespect and curse at some people at home as you were leaving with the impression that you will never have to deal with them again? Because maybe they have "do you from village" something involving chicken blood and other items of fettish and entranced frenzy?

Sorry about the wasted money on airfare, i hope you did not drain life savings just to make the trip.
TravelRe: Share Your Experience:your First Few Days Abroad....how Was The Feeling Like by 19naia(m):
For me it was exciting, i was looking down from the airplane window of Now defunct Nigerian Airways. Maybe it was their 747 on nonstop flight from New York to Lagos.
As i looked down from the window with my young mind, i was waiting to see the jungle and the wild chimps i longed to be friends with.
I sank into my first real experience with depression when i saw endless lines of yellow buses crawling what looked like extensive road ways among endless buildings. I was very young and Endless yellow buses had always meant endless transport to and from school in USA.

I was depressed at the sight and feared an endless regimen of schooling with all those school buses. But to my surprise, no such thing as school bus there, but school was an endless thing with classes after class and lessons after school and koboko after misbehaving and so on.

I later learned that the yellow buses crawling the streets of lagos like cockroaches, were Molue buses ready to take you any where or ready to run you down like a lost goat in the street. Which ever you come prepared for.
I managed to enjoy for a short while until the suffering began to grow with hefty dividends of lack and wanting for even basic things to survive by. After almost a decade of eternity, i managed to make it out of there thanks to my family finally coming to their battered senses.

I had been abroad before this trip, but i was much too young to remember, so i account for this the first trip i remember.

Christianity EtcRe: Alert: Satan Has Poured Out Spirit Of Witchcraft, Heavily. Step Up Your Prayer by 19naia(m): 1:56pm On Jul 22, 2015
Madness in the name of religion. The evil is in the minds of the witch hunt frenzied mad men. Temper your mind and be not so quick to judge and condemn a fellow man. Remember even Jesus was judged and condemned by people who believed he was a bad man and even tried to account for his miracles as sorcery. Dont become evil people in the name of witch hunting, like this video below portrays. "In jesus name amen" is a blasphemy in itself when spoken from the mouths of those who covet money from blind followers, accuse innocent children of witchcraft the children have nothing to do with. Nigeria is full of fraudulent religion and accusations. Dont fall into the trap, and think for yourself and seek God's voice in your own heart. Yes God can speak directly to your heart and not always from the mouths of strange men who far too often prove to be frauds looking for money and power over vulnerable minds.

See truly evil people in this video and see them hide behind religion to justify their evil. False prophets fufilling no one but themselves. The end times was said to be full of false prophets seeking to use God's name to do evil upon their fellow man.

Bad salary is just phase one of disfunction. Phase two is to see that the salary will ever be paid every month of just twice a year. shocked

Like was said by one commenter, all those school fees and expenses and cost of travel and visa to Overseas, would go far and wide to create a business of some sort to do better for one's self.

I hope the 50k salary, maybe its just an internship phase hire to determine the worker's worth just in the first year alone, and then move up to a pay scale of at least 250k as a fresh member of the company. .?

Oh no, here we go again with crazed delusions of blood lusters making excuse of witch craft to justify their need to conquer down on another man's head. God forgive them for they know not what they do. So the good jesus said, and not once did he accuse anybody of witchcraft, not even the man whom he cast a legion of demons out of and diverted into a herd of swine. But he did accuse all to "Love one another". Not accuse one another. Love one another, one and all.
CareerRe: My Boss And I(he Wouldnt Pay Me Nor Sack Me) by 19naia(m): 1:22pm On Jul 22, 2015
Your boss is not a boss, but an imposter who cannot live up to it.
Dont disgrace yourself by associating or subjecting yourself to such people even if it is for a survival wage which he is not paying anyway.

Every moment you spend working for no pay, is taking away precious time from looking for other work while having no pay.
The fact that you recieve no pay will be the same either way, if you stay on the job or quit to look for another.
Better chance for better things if you are out and about searching or making other things happen.

I have seen street sellers and hawkers do better to feed themselves daily than a grown man with masters degree and head of department status. Every day he was at work with no pay for many months. Always hungry children at home who saw the uneducated farmers eating and uneducated street hawkers making at least something to survive by.

Your time is your survival even if it is hawking or sellling something on the street to get paid on the spot every transaction. Also chance to grow your own business. And if you are not so successful, it is better to fail for yourself than to waste your life and energy failing for someone else who uses you with no appreciation.
Your own failures will be in your own command and that is the same command that brings success out of the ashes and lessons of failure.
Take care and do what is right in your heart because we dont know your entire situation, but no situation justifies being a slave(unpaid labour)...
The ashes from the farm burnt to the very ground, is the richness for the success of the next crop which will thrive upon those ashes.

I will visit Nigeria at the appointed time. Not any time soon. Nigeria is too expensive with minimal returns. I travel a lot to many countries. By far, Nigeria seems to be the most expensive. Fuel, water, security details, logistics, friends and foes, running from one hotel to the other, etc. It all adds up.

I am at a stage that I don't need unnecessary stress in my life. The house I am building in the village is for the heck of it. I will never sleep there. The question becomes: What is the definition of home? Of course, a house is not necessarily a home.
\
Very Good post you put here.. Nigerians in Nigeria are eager to show that they have much to offer and an economy to tout.
But the truth is that they have their heads in their own bucket and have little reference to know that Nigeria is seriously over priced with a seriously underperforming general state of quality in the country. Any real quality exsist in extremely overpriced small pockets scattered about amid what is mostly a slum quality nation.

The eager money makers inflate price any where and time they can get away with it and then call themselves wealthy by it. And the price of that "sin" is the constant instability of the Naira as it lives in perpetual free fall. One day a nigerian billionaire has a $ value of wealth, and the next its drastically lower by the depreciation of the Naira his wealth exist in.
Eventually, Nigeria prices will go so far beyond what people enjoy in USA and Europe, that foriegn interest will never look to Nigeria beyond the desire for oil and raw materials to just export quick and minimize involvement. International equitabilty is a serious matter that nigerians seem to overlook when seeking profit and international investors. It will cost Nigeria in the long run and keep the Naira always falling.
Nigerians need to remember that there are so many cheaper countries in the world with better quality of living in general, in south america ,asia and even eastern europe.

I know Nigeria has some very cheap options, but those are in extreme squalor and even that squalor is overpriced compared to some south american and south asian countries with their own prices of squalored living.
I am not just talking, i have lived in countries in asia and south america and have spent on lodging and food while experiencing the standard of living in as many as 17 countries so far. I will soon be adding more to my list of visited countries and i dont see Nigeria faring any better when i compare it to even more countries.

I will visit Nigeria, but i hope family and friends there wont vex wit me when my attitude about spending there is sour. I just have so many other options to live decent for less. It will cheaper for me to turn back around and fly out to The Americas to stay, than to fork over money in Nigeria to feed the "Big Boy" hype.

Wow! I used to love the way they smoked titus fish in Isikan market aka eja oforo.
My grandfathers house was next door to the Titus (mackrel) fish depot. The big walk-in freezer for the whole sale supply.
Not sure if that is still there, but that was the source of mackrel for isikan market.
I have never encountered mackrel as good as that Isikan smoked fish any where. Even fried up in "epo pupa" was very nice.

HiGod:
We used to live in Edo lodge next to Ijapo Estate before moving to a new home when I was 12.

50% of my friends lived in Ijapo Estate back in the days.

Awule/Oluwatuyi was the happening spot in 80s with our massive Basketball court.

Some of my friends' parents are politicians(Governor, deputy and perm sec) who lives in Ijapo and you might probably know them if I mention their names

Do you remember press centre called Adegbemile where all gigs in Akure were held then? Gone are those days!!! It was all fun till mama call. It was our main club in 80s aside Rainbow Hotel at Oluwatuyi owned by Chief Oluwatuyi.

Do you know Sallas lesson and this Ghananian man at Isinkan(extra mural classes)?

I actually Attended Sacred Seminary called Don Bosco in Akure.

Below is Seminary back in the days
I went a year to st. peters unity secondary and then to FGC later outside of Owo town.
I had a teacher at Ijapo primary from ghana, Mr. Mensa. We took lesson from him also during holidays and we all passed entrance and interview exam for FGC admission. Good teachers from ghana.
I dont know very much about isikan because was never allowed to go far from our grandma house there, and also in Ijapo we never used to mingle beyond our neighbors in the immediate area. All other things was away at boarding schools. I even went one term to school in Imo at FGC Okigwe.
That era was back when alagbaka was mostly a ghost town estate and obaile was a bush man's village.
I hear much has changed, even Ijapo was the outskirts of town, but now the houses and roads extend far out beyond there.
Its been several decades for me since i was there, and i was still a teenage boy at that time. grin

One day i will reach again

PropertiesRe: Solar Power & Boreholes Jobs (FULL Pictures) Ask ANY questions NO SECRETS by 19naia(m): 3:24am On Jul 19, 2015
DRealGeesam:
IF you are talking about producing electricity for commercial purpose eg electricity for a whole state or country, then nuclear, hydro, wave, wind are all cheaper than solar and are more practical. BUT if you are talking about an individual producing electricity for himself, Hydro and nuclear are not economical or practical. You keep talking of battery. Is cost of fuel in 3 years more economical than battery with lifespan of 3 years? Let us be pratical, as far as producing electricity at the home level is concerned ONLY wind energy is cheaper and more practical than solar energy. I am not even through talking about solar panels, inverters and charge controllers, so wait till i get to batteries. I have not used a generator for the past 2 years of my life.
Do you know that as good as electricity is in the US yet solar power is thriving. These are people who can see in the long term. You are only looking at the initial cost. Do you know that even a barber with tiger generator will have to spend at least 1000 naira a day to have electricity for 12 hours, in 3years he would have N864,000. How? He would have worked 6 days in a week that is 6000 naira in a year that is N288,000 and in 3 years that is N864,000.
Half of that money will give his barbing saloon 18hrs of electricity everyday for 25 years, the only thing he will change every 3 years is his batteries which is will be a recurrent N150,000. Meaning instead of spending 288000 a year on just fueling generators, now he is only spending 50,000.

Guess what sir, IF he strictly follows best battery management practices which i will be revealing, he can use his batteries for at least 5 years (please consult google if u dont believe me on anything and take info from reliable sites such as backwoodssolar.com and the likes). Original AgM gel deep cycle batteries last as long as 10 years even with everyday use.
I will tell u y many dont enjoy their batteries when i get to that topic.

So my point remains, Solar is extremely cheap compared to generator. And as i have even said earlier MANY are spending good money in developed countries to add solar to their home supply even though they have 24 hrs of electricity, cos it is helping them cut the cost of electricity.

On this thread i tell people as it is no lies no pretending. Many have called me and when i tell them what is involved they say someone said it is cheaper somewhere i smile and advice them and let them be. Truth is solar is cheap when you can look at your economic benefits over the years and not just the initial cost as i said, spending 150,000 on batteries in 3 years and spending 864,000 on petrol in 3 years which is cheaper?
There are batteries that will last at least five years and those batteries, i have used up to 8 years before the efficiency was not able to keep up with basic needs. Trojan brand is good. The Gel lead acid last very long also but need more caution or special charge controllers to keep with the gel cell charging parameters.
3 year battery is maybe a very poor quality battery if not the cheapest option. There is no reason to not have a bttery for at least 5 years and it is worth paying the extra for top brands with proven track record. Mine were still holding a minimal usable charge after Ten years and lots of abuse such as overcharging and short circuit from erroneous parallel linking of some batteries in the storage bank. I had the T-105 trojans.

But yes you are so right about the long term cost efficiency of Solar over genrator fuel alone, not to mention the cost of the generator and service to the machine. Some generators are no good any more after three years also.

Dual citizen of Nigeria and USA. My parents are a mix of US and Nigeria origins and i was born in US.
I lost my Nigeria passport long ago here in USA and it has been expired for decades. Not an easy matter for me to get a new one here with no documents other than a USA birth certificate.
So i use USA passport to travel now with tourist visas. Maybe one day i reach Nigeria and gather documents to get NG passport again.

when did you apply and what type of visa
Oh sorry, mine is opposite issue. I applied for Nigeria visitor visa to reach Nigeria one day. Not easy to enter Nigeria without prior visa. After around 3 hundred dollars fees and expenses, i have my NG visa after a few weeks of waiting. There was an initial delay and then it was resolved and then just 7 days from then to receiving it in my mail box.
So hard to get Nigeria visa info on Nairaland. Some of us really are outside trying to get in. grin

My next issue will be how to extend that visa for a longer stay if the need comes.

TravelRe: Overstayed Visiting Visa In Nigeria by 19naia(m): 3:53am On Jul 17, 2015
So its 2015 now and there is a 24 month validity on a Nigeria visitor visa issued.
I expect only 90 days at one time is allowed, but multiple entries for 90 day stays are for sure allowed during a 24 month period.
Is it really possible to extend a 90 day stay to 180 days and more while in Nigeria so as to avoid the cost and effort of leaving the country and returning just to get another 90 days stay?
Or can one just stay for 6 to 8 months out of 24 month validity and just pay the penalty fees upon exit like most other countries do?

oluwatomisin93:
brother I really like ur post and u did a very good analysis of what the FCT is. in fact I have gone round the place and the so call place the call the heart of the fct is filled with empty houses.
Maybe I will visit abuja one day. I have been to countries like Panama when they were rated as fastest growing economy in south or central america. They were building many skyscrapers and modern condominiums/hotels. The prices were very high and many sat empty/vacant because no one could afford to rent them. All the growth was from big money people and big drug dealers building modern buildings that no one could afford. Salaries there remain mostly low while a few rich people and foriegners buy up the land and build and increase the value for their own pocket. Now even farmers cannot afford land to grow food because of this. and they have to import food which increases many food prices for them.
Same with china and their super growing economy based on building entire cities that sat empty and many rot away today from new condition without ever being used. Meanwhile they have many poor people living in rooms the size of boxes because they cannot afford the abundant housing units that rot away.
TravelRe: Shocking Pics From The Over Hyped FCT by 19naia(m): 8:06pm On Jul 16, 2015
No matter what city quality Nigeria tries to build, it will never escape this standard of living in its destiny. Unless, the wealth and might of it's boasted economy is reset so that the significant part of that wealth is not soley in the hands of a few billionaires and a college of political office holders.
Majority of people in Nigeria can only afford this type of living and so this type of life will sprout every where in Nigeria.
The questin to ask, how many of them work for the so call great FCT and its up keep, yet their salaries cannot afford them to live within the FCT image proper.
A man with amillion toilets will still have his house scattered with excrement if he keeps all the toilets to himself and forbids his workforce of toilet cleaners to share some of his 1million toilets or does not pay them enough to afford their own toilet.

FCT will get exactly what it pays for and it will not get whatever it is not paying for. Increase minimum wage and make measures to control price gougeing and artificial inflation.
