I wager many of these haters haven't even been to Ibadan city before. I no blame them na wetin dem dey see for express. I had many of their type as friends while studying in Ife - Lagos boys whose only knowledge of Ibadan was what they saw between the toll gate and Iwo Road, on their way to Ife from Lagos. When we started attending parties in Ibadan, actually going into town, UI (esp Queens/Idia ) and visiting other cool places, these guys begin talk another story oh, na to find any excuse to go to Ib from Ife whether na rave oh, houseparty oh or even boredom. So I won't blame the ignoramuses. I can only imagine what Ibadan would be like if Oyo State could have a governor in Fashola's mould. |
^ now that's vintage sounds like a scene out of 'Mind your language' ![]() |
How to concentrate?? I could never have imagined anyone would put that into a search engine ![]() |
Hilarious! ![]() |
Great tips, nice one keep them coming. |
Thanks for the warning OP, I promise never to buy pillows in traffic lest I get dump-folded too ![]() |
Sharing similar goals brings two people together faster than anything you can think of |
OP your post has been modified. Sorry but it's against the rules here to solicit. We've had fraudulent cases and do not encourage it. We believe that anyone whose willing would contact you through the message link on your profile. Good luck. |
GenBuhari: ^ I watched the video.Students? What values are learnt in the Nigerian educational system these days? Certainly not the courage to stand up for what you believe is right. |
jpcomrade: What about being connected with people that matter,is that not suppose to be part of the factors. Mbechun007: Put your network to use: Leverage your circle of influence to help you find a job. You know people who know people who know other people, within this circle a lot of information is circulated, most times job listings rarely make it to the papers. Let those you know be aware that you are job hunting. You never know from where opportunity will come knocking. There's your answer ![]() |
Good stuff! |
jp philips: there are job adverts i don't apply not because i am not qualified but i couldn't get the right recommendation for it.Please tell, regarding the importance of recommendations in comparison with qualifications, what does the above imply? As you have veered away from the points raised in the last paragraph of my previous post, but instead chosen to introduce offensive language in an anonymous forum, what do you think it says about your arguments sir? |
Hi OP, I think we should be careful how we make accusations so they don't end up getting rubbished. I also think such a comment by Andrew Neil is plain wrong, distasteful and stereotypical however I don't think it can legitimately be called a racist comment. I know we feel like the white man always has something against the black man and tend to equate unfavorable white behavior against black to racism but, these guys have a different definition of racism which I understand to be, technically disparaging or discriminating against someone because of the color of their skin - I stand to be corrected. In a case where it is is not possible to prove the italicized, or where it is not clearly proven, no white man shall agree with us that an act of racism has been committed. It's unfortunate but that's the way it is. If we want to nail down a white man on an accusation of racism it unfortunately has to be done according to the white man's own definition of racism which doesn't take the emotions of the black man into account. Remember the saying 'if you wan catch monkey, you sef go do like monkey'? (Now a white man reading this would eaaasily misunderstand/misinterpret that statement lol ), that's how to successfully nail these folks on racism - catch them using the provisions of their law because they get sooo defensive when racism is brought up.Therefore we need to be careful to make a good case with strong evidence according to their anti-racism/anti-discrimination laws before making racism accusations lest we become accused of making false allegations. What happened with Obi Mikel recently is a good example of the complainant becoming the accused. |
Thats the bottom portion of the website attached, look to the bottom right you see Dukwe and New Nation right? Well read this https://www.nairaland.com/892252/dukwe-invitation-real for what Nairalanders have had to say in the past about Dukwe and New Nation. You can further search NL for other topics that have discussed those organizations. I believe the information in the posts there should help you decide for yourself.

jp philips: says whoIt's actually not a law, it's only common sense. jp philips: i am not writing to impress youI am not the only one reading this topic, you're communicating to a much wider audience here. jp philips: I never said people don't get jobs on merit and i downplayed the polishing CV idea, not just because it doesn't work for me but it is mis leading for job seekers who have done it over the years without success. You weren't quoted therefore couldn't have been misquoted. Assume there are 30million unemployed, (You)1 ÷ 30,000,000 = <0.1% jp philips: with the right recommendation, the CV is inconsequential, i will only look at it if i want to memorize his surname, lolYou've spoken for yourself from your own <0.1% perspective, some other recruiters here have expressed differing views. jp philips: To get a recommendation is not a walk in the park either, there are job adverts i don't apply not because i am not qualified but i couldn't get the right recommendation for it. i don't believe in luck, that is what works for me then, and i am a realist. Thanks for declaring your approach but giving the impression that recommendations are more important than having the right qualifications would encourage laziness, and continue to breed the wrong attitude that we've seen examples of already on this topic. It also tends to discourage those who are not in any position to get such recommendations. You may have crossed the unemployment barrier and now possess the luxury of choosing an employer but don't forget that there are several thousands out there struggling to kick start their careers. |
A CV remains a basic job seeking tool and a primary requirement. jp philips theres a hint of arrogance and condescension in the nature of your posts that doesn't read healthy for this thread, please refer to the topic - it's about CVs that work. Some users have stated here that a proportion of appointments are made on merit but you go on about what works for you forgetting the focus of the topic, and that you represent <0.1% of the job seeking population. According to you: jp philips:Well then, a high IQ candidate shouldn't have a problem putting a good CV together in the first place. You're welcome to start a new topic to provide additional job seeking advice and hints if you wish to share your extensive experience to complement the original post. |
I hope you watched the video. It was a spontaneous reaction to a sudden price hike which led to a 2 week economic shutdown. With 19 people killed nationwide, the labor union executive capitulating, soldiers (yes, soldiers not police oh) mobilized to terrorize protesters and hunger staring people straight in the eye esp those who earn their living daily, the strike and protests came to an inevitable end. The masses need something to trigger them into action, a catalyst. I hope the dunce at the top makes the same move in a few weeks. |
moreeni: I'm going to re-write my CV asap. That long sentence I can't even make sense of is leaving MY cv. Employers, look out for meeeee.Way to go girl! |
I should wish one of the principalities holding over 100 million people in the bondage of poverty and suffering a happy birthday ![]() Just yesterday she was quoted as saying: "We cannot eat our cakes and have it. We cannot keep calling out for transparency and accountability and pointing at corruption if we are not prepared to bear some of the hardship that will obviously come when you are trying to clean up a sector" Now imagine that. I refuse to celebrate ineptitude and thievery. |
Now that's sick! |
Super good advise. Smh at the pessimists |
A thief's comments are not worth critique or analysis so I don't think we should bother to try make sense of senseless talk. It's a natural human instinct to defend one's area of specialization, even if it's thievery and corrupt practices. Everybody knows she's lying (again) but my concern is the disrespectful nature of the stup1d lies. How dare her insult 112 million people? She obviously considers us her subjects else she wont speak to us this rudely. What does she have to say about her long history of authority stealing? and the accusations of gross embezzlement of public funds piled up against her? Does she not know that we know she is a thief? She is only in that position because another thief is president, or does she think we are daft? If she doesn't repent of her wickedness she's surely going to get what's coming her way, it's called karma. She's a shameless woman who's children should be ashamed to have such an unrepentant wicked lying thief headed-for-doom for a mother. Source |

Did anyone notice how the lyrics seem to describe the Nigerian situation? Asa is difficult to compare to any other Nigerian artist, she's just unique! |
Naija people, we neva tire to dey try to analyse, criticize, rationalize, pray, curse, shout, vex, laugh, throway face, beg, complain, siddon look? All the above have not worked and it's now time to act. Do we honestly think the nonsense is just gonna stop one day? Isn't it obviously getting worse?
