I would love to add something, I have friends that run different businesses, but I am concerned about two, one makes snacks and he is big in the business now, he even has sales girls while the other is a barber with many apprentices.

I tend to observe that the one making snacks usually complain about inflation a lot, the price of his inputs (baking products) are always on the high side because of the unstable naira , most times his selling price doesn't really correspond with the percentage increase in inflation because he fears total boycott from his customers but the barber is doing extremely well, on weekends he makes 15-20k daily and 10k on weekdays, and fortunately for him, he does not need to buy or change any of his inputs/barbing materials every time, they are fixed except buying of fuel for the generator.

My point is I would really love a business venture that would not be sapping my materials everyday, I won't mind buying everything I need once, so far they will serve me for long before considering replacements for them instead of all these business you have to buy your materials needed every other day, it can be very stressful.

......summary is a baker would need to buy flour, vegetable oil, etc almost every other week but a barber might not change his clipper for six months and when there is low patronage many snacks are wasted which usually affects the guy's mood but a barber does not really have much to loose on days of low patronage.

One thing you've to know is that these two guys are in different industries i.e. Service (barbing) & Production (Food/snacks). You're very right with your observations but the two guys needs to understand the their businesses, it environments, the dynamics of the market and many other metrics that influence their business. For you snack friend, advice him to improve his material sourcing efforts and take sales data very seriously.

Bro everything I described about them is what they are. Someone I professed love to took my money and had been sleeping around for the past 2 years. I think it's a demand pulled inflation. Too many people chasing too few bags. There are so many dealers that are not getting supplied, a lot of shops without cement are we speak.

That's logical. But this was what I learnt happened - Mid year when the lock down was heavy, Lafarge started a massive overhaul of its production machines. Trying to take advantage of the low demand due to lock down and the raining season. This activity do last for a while, so it was still on when the lock down was released and more demands set in.

Now Lafarge has started production and Dangote is also still producing but Distributors seems to be manipulating the market for their selfish gain still.

People will always find ways to cheat. That’s why government is necessary to maintain decorum. If people are able to self-regulate, there won’t be need for Customs, Police and other LEAs. The FGN has failed in her responsibilities to protect consumers from hoarders and profiteers. Do you remember when they used to seal fuel stations that set their meters in a way to cheat customers or were selling by very wide margins? That’s what government is for not just building flyovers and moving in convoys. Even in the sanest of all climates, people are still working out ways to cheat the system.

Fact is that Nigeria is on autopilot. What did Buhari achieve in his first term that all you voted him back in for 2nd term? By now every adult should have learned something peculiar to Nigeria

1. When prices rise significantly, they hardly ever go back to the initial prices. A slight marginal reduction could occur, but prices will never go back to the original prior to the increment.
2. Building materials such as cement usually see a spike in prices at the onset of the dry season, usually from November. At first I thought that is what was happening, until the price rise became crazy.
What this means is, don't expect any appreciable reduction until at least the beginning of next year's rainy season.

3. You can't rule out greed from dealers. I still can't explain how come there's a wide price disparity of cement across different states. Last time I bought at ₦3,500 per bag at Owerri about 2 weeks ago. Oga Spyder said it was ₦4,000 at Enugu yesterday. Other states gave prices ranging from ₦2,700 to ₦3,800 last week for even same brand of cement!

4. Nigeria will NEVER see any economic improvement at the rate things are degenerating, and with this headless FG in place. It is a dog eat dog situation. My brother was at the cement dealership lamenting how come prices increased twice in the same day, while one crazy dude came and bellowed at the top of his voice that he is ready to add an additional ₦100 per bag just so that the dealer can ensure his trailer load of cement gets delivered to his site promptly

My Oga, the disparity in price of Cement indicates that the hike is not from producer(s). A dealer told me this week that the middle men/distributors are the ones driving this particular crazy price. He confirmed that prices is still N2300-N2450 from producer. Someone corroborated it on a forum this week that a friend of his has made over N10m from this 'madness'.
So let's excuse the FG and talk to ourselves. We're bunch of greedy and callous people.

The government has its numerous shortcomings too o and we won't stop talking about them.

I am not too impressed with the way/kind of method our Builders here use in doing Pile foundations (Boring Method), there is a very high possibility of a breakage/fracture along the line, especially if the depth of your Pile is high (say like 15m and above).
The biggest problem is when the Concrete poured inside the Jute-bag covered Pile hole, does not form uniformly
I have seen ones that cracked in-situ and the house ended being bent.
I would rather prefer the Displacement types (Drop Hammer)

I would rather companies who specialise in that area, do it.

Though, maybe they have Upped their game in that area, l cant say for sure.

What is the depth of Pile recommended? Pile is not cheap o.

I would suggest that he keeps the land and secure another plot that does not require piling. Considering the area, cost of piling can secure another plot that won't require it. Then the initial plot will be an investment.
