Police deny UNN bomb attempt
Written by  Ozioma Ubabukoh, Enugu

The police have denied there was an attempt by any individual or group to bomb the University of Nigeria, Nsukka on Tuesday.

Enugu State Police Command said this in a reaction to reports in the media that a vigilance group arrested a suspected member of Boko Haram while trying to bomb the university from a nearby bush.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Enugu State, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, told our correspondent on Wednesday that it was wrong to accuse the suspect of such a crime. He claimed that the vigilance group did not find any arm or device on the suspect.
He said, “The Hausaman was found in a bush at Udenu, which is 30 kilometres from the school (UNN). If he had any plans of bombing the university, he would have stayed in a bush close to the university and not very far from the university.
“The vigilance group probably saw him as a suspect because the man in question is a bit insane and could not give answers to their questions in English, other than in Hausa.
“There was no arm, device or anything traceable to Boko Haram that was found on him.”
The PPRO, however, said the police would take the suspect to a psychiatric hospital to ascertain his mental health status, after which it would launch an investigation to establish his full identity and his mission in the state.
Such a ridiculous statement.

TravelNigerian Teens Murdered A Nigerian Accused Of Raping A Nigerian In Dubai. by 27naira(op): 2:19pm On Dec 27, 2011
Dubai: A college girl, who was accused of avenging herself against her rapist by branding his penis with a hot knife and fatally beating him in collaboration with her two classmates denied charges in the court on Tuesday.
Prosecutors accused the three Nigerian students with fatal assault and heating the knife to burn the private parts of their countryman, who the 20-year-old college girl, L.O., claimed he raped her while she was intoxicated.
Prosecutors said L.O. and her crime associates, 21-year-old K.T. and 23-year-old A.S., beat their countryman S.B. to death and branded his penis with a heated knife in an act of revenge for having sex with the girl against her will.
"No sir I did not take revenge by doing so. I am not guilty," argued L.O. when she strongly refuted her accusations before the Dubai Court of first Instance.
K.T. and A.S. also pleaded not guilty and rejected the accusation of beating the victim to death when they defended themselves before Presiding Judge Al Saeed Mohammad Barghout.
According to the charges sheet, the suspected students prepared for the assault in advance and brought a knife and belts. Instead of reporting the police that S.B. raped L.O., they lured the victim to a flat where they brutally beat him until he collapsed powerless. Then they ripped off his clothes and L.O. burnt his penis with the heated knife.

Prosecutors charged the defendants with fatal beating associated with a second crime, that is molesting S.B. by stripping him off and burning his private parts.
The male students were additionally charged with consuming liquor.
Chief Prosecutor Khaled Al Zarouni asked the court to implement the toughest punishment, ten years imprisonment, against the defendants.
Dubai Police's forensic doctor told prosecutors that the victim died due to internal bleeding in the skull. The doctor said the victim fell to the floor due to brutal beating and hit his head.
Court records said the incident happened after the suspects, the victim and some friends partied at Burj Khalifa. Then they left to a friend's flat.
Police told the court that L.O. claimed during questioning that she woke up and realised S.B. naked and having sex with her against her will. She alleged that he raped her because she was under the influence of alcohol.
Police allege that L.O. said: "I was outraged and asked K.T. and A.S. to beat S.B. in revenge for what he did to me. We were at A, S.'s flat and asked him to come. When he confessed that he raped me… we jointly beat him. I slapped him but I didn't use any tool to assault him. K.T. and A.S. beat him with their hands and a belt".
An Emirati police lieutenant testified that S.B.'s body was discovered in a flat in Tecom in Jebel Ali. Primary interrogations led to the defendants' arrest.
"K.T. and A.S. said they assaulted S.B. They alleged that he ran over the corners of the flat in an attempt to avoid the assault. The suspects assumed S.B.'s injuries were not serious said they didn't report the authorities assuming that," said the lieutenant.
The court will hear the forensic doctor when it reconvenes on February 7.

PoliticsRe: Should The Goverment Legalise And Promote Refineries As SMSEs by 27naira(m): 10:39am On Dec 26, 2011
paragonpro:
You are not even looking at my core argument that at international crude prices, small refineries are not viable.

You do not need to argue further, just whip out your calculator and do the maths.
A 1000BPD refinery would need $100,000 dollars worth of crude, which comes to about N16,000,000 in naira. Now a barrel equals 168liters. Refining 1000barrels would at best give you 60 % of prime products of petrol, diesel and kerosine, the rest being gas and residue which cost considerably less. So 168,000liters can at best give 100,800liters. Even if you sell all products at N140 you can get only N14,112,000. The remaining gas would require more expensive equipment to process and the price of gas is very cheap, same for residues, they are sold as waste products. So you are that a small refinery would struggle to make profit on $100 crude prices, and we have not even considered the cost of the refinery itself along with other costs like land, administrative and even maintenance costs.
To buttress your point, the OP have forgotten that refineries must run a high level of QA which must certify them in terms of minimum acceptable greenhouse gas emission, environmental impact assessment, fire control and loads of HSE issues to deal with.
Refineries can NEVER be a Small and Medium Enterprise  thing.

Its not the same like cooking gin and kai kai

UKAj:
Hello All,

I'm intending to  marry this girl I love and who loves me but the problem is that I am HIV positive and on treatment. My viral remains undetectable and my CD4 count is is over 700. She's aware of my condition and willing to carry on with the arrangement because once all precautions are taken, her level of risk will drastically reduce. We don't intend to risk trying for children unless we go through Fluid washing. However her church (Anglican church) wants us to undergo HIV test. The problem is that we don't want to go public with this information. What options are open to me?
If your viral remains undetectable, then it seems to me that your status will always read negative right? how did you find out in the first place? go and see a councillor. NLders go just bash you beyond repair grin
Politics"we Know The Sponsors Of Bokoharam" - Gej by 27naira(op): 8:20am On Dec 26, 2011
It beats me to know that the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria made this statement "We know the sponsors of Boko Haram" but is yet to act decisively.

Now i want to ask, do you believe he really knows? or is it just a rant to play on the collective intelligence of average Nigerian.

I almost cried when i heard him say that "we may have to live with the bombs". To me, it appears like he easily forgets his statements. Maybe, Mr President has given up.

Flash back into the year, an Iranian important assorted arms into the country, he was charged to court but we no longer hear this on the news. Atiku and Co., threatened to make the country ungovernable but yet no investigation have been done concerning such a "national security threat". Borno and Yobe are border towns, yet the Immigration authorities have woefully failed to secure our porous borders. It is absolutely clear that almost every single one in government is incompetent.

CareerRe: Which Profession Do You Think Has Been Failing In Its Role In Nigeria? by 27naira(m): 2:26pm On Dec 22, 2011
There are professional and highly placed engineers of Nigerian extract everywhere in the world. However, Nigeria has always been a victim of brain-drain because of our domestic policies that does not support innovations and appropriate incentives.

I don't believe any profession other than "Teachers" have failed Nigerians.

When the teachers pull the carpet off of our feet, everyone falls.

ok since you ask for it

try Fahd university in saudi arabia, their tution is free but u need a GPA of 4.0 or better, a second class upper will suffice but it must be in chemical or petroleum,u work while schooling as a graduate research assistant, a colleague of mine took this advice and he is eternally grateful, working ,getting paid and schooling in the oil and gas career!! but you must have 4.0 or better

there is one other unverisity on dubai only for petroleum graduates, cost is around 25,000 usd , once you finish, you MUST work in any oil and gas coy in dubai for 2 years, this one is sure banker, i have forgotten the name of the uni, i will post it when i remember.

Robert gordon is still a nice uni too if you have the funds

Imperial college is another nice uni, clausthal zellerfeld germany is another nice school for petroleum grads, you work after your studies, u can contact devmatic for more details.

IFP too is a nice way to start , the fees are not cheap either, and its just opposite uniport, the program is for 2 years and you are always apprised of any latest vacancy in the oil and gas coys around Portharcourt, know that this school is funded by total,

University of Leoben in Austria is another nice school for petroleum grads

As for SCM , there are many routes , however, i mentioned those two schools because of the school's affiliation to CIPS which is a certification course for supply chain in the uk and is worldly recognized or better still you can do cips self study and attain that same route , which ever you take will land you in the oil and gas industry, but its not easy , just give it a shot.
Talking about the highlighted, the school is in Abu dhabi not dubai. The name is "The Petroleum institute". There are couple of Nigerian guys studying there. The contacts of their graduate students are listed on their website. you can contact the students for more info. i think this is their website______www.pi.ac.ae_____

Tnx for that. Hustling to me is geting a good job in a foreign country

Aal Izz Well
Bros, getting a good job in a foreign country has become very competitive. I am not trying to paint a dim picture but you need to have competitive education and quality work experience. I work in the gulf region with one of the National Oil Companies so i know what am saying.
I will advice you to seek for a job from "outside" the shores of Oman. This will give you an expertriate status. However, if you go to Oman or wherever and start running around with a Bachelor degree certificate from Nigeria looking for something to do, you might end up miserable. Package yourself well then you'll make it.
