abeylevels:To be frank, I found that question tricky also. In my first application years ago when we used to hand fill application, I put NYSC but since then, for no reason at all, I would just click NO. Graduate members of my family have been doing the same and no one has been denied visa. By the way, where does a corper that served in a military school fall? Can someone who did his nysc in a bank claim government- public or civil administration? Though I have not tried it, you may click yes and see whether a sub-window opens to give you room to explain in detail what nature of national service you did and where. |
opomulero:Yes, though at a higher price than advance purchase option but less risky. |
opomulero:The advisory by the UK visa office is that reservation should be made for hotel and flight but should not be paid for until you get the visa. This is an economic advice especially if your bookings are non-cancellable. Well as for me and my households, for all the time that we have applied and got uk visa, we booked and paid for hotel (mostly through agoda and non-cancellable because of the discount) and the flight long before we even applied. We stated the hotel address as our address in uk in the visa form and attached the booking voucher. The same applied to the air ticket. There was never a time that the TLS official rejected the documents though I wouldnt know if the embassy took them into consideration in approving our applications. |
opomulero:Note that my answers below are applicable if you are using the 'new service' on gov.uk not the 'old format' on visa4uk According to the Guidelines on Supporting Documents published by the British visa authority, if the applicant being sponsored has his/her own source of income, it should be stated in the income section and supported by documents even where he/she will not be responsible for the trip expenses. Then in the section for who is responsible for the trip, he/she will state that the trip is to be sponsored and state the particulars of the sponsor and answer the reason why the sponsor is responsible for the trip. He/she will still provide documents on financial capability of the sponsor. Note that where the sponsor and the sponsored are applying together as a family, you won't provide separate set of the sponsor's documents for the sponsored. E.g. Your bank statements/title documents will be attached to your application while her own will be attached to hers even though she would have stated that you are her sponsor, she doesn't need to provide a separate set of your bank statements in that circumstance of same-time applications. Your documents cover her sponsorship claim but she must still provide her personal income documents if she has own source of income. Under the 'new service', you don't technically apply as a family as such. Each of you will fill separate forms on gov.uk and pay individually and also get separate GWF. When choosing interview time on gov.uk, make sure each of you choose the same date and time. After that, you are required to go to TLS website to create an account. This is where FAMILY comes in. The principal applicant will create one account for himself and will be required to enter the particulars of himself and other members of the family traveling and applying together with him including their GWFs. Fill and validate. From that time on, you are treated as a family and they will be putting all your documents in one jacket and processing your application as a group. |
He surely lost heavily in 2008/2009 oil price crash and that made him drop off the list of Forbes billionaires then What helped him bounce back rather quickly was his tight friendship with GEJ who by providence became president in 2010. Otedola was one of the very few businessmen that publicly associated with GEJ while he was vice-president against politically-correct position of not being the friend of an 'enemy' of Turai and her cabal even while Yar-Adua was still alive. GEJ rewarded the loyalty even after Otedola forfeited a chunk of his assets to AMCON |

nkemdave:Activation of ATM function is not a tedious task. As part of collection process, you would have part-activated the card in NIMC office by providing PIN (4 digits) of your choice on their machine. After that, you go to any access bank ATM (for now) to either change the pin and/or generate IPIN. I think it is logical to expect the same process to be followed on renewal since the PAN of the card (the 16 digits on the card) will not be the same as the replaced one just like normal ATM card. Also note that the ID card is not linked to your bank account unlike your ATM card. It is just a prepaid card. If you want to use it as ATM card, you must load it with the amount you want by going to Access bank and deposit desired amount into it using the PAN of the card as account number. |
nkemdave:A) National ID card last 5 years before renewal but your NIN is lifetime B) Renewal of the national ID card every 5 years is done at NIMC offices not in a bank! The issue of bank activation comes in because the ID card has facility to be used as Atm card among other functions. This is optional not compulsory. If you want to use it just as ID without the Atm capability, you don't need to activate that function and the bank will therefore not be involved. |
Viccur:I understand. The officials misled me too. On the day I went to collect the ID card, I went with the paper but they said it wasn't needed. After collecting the ID, I tore the paper only to realize that the ID card has no NIN visibly written. Now I don't even know my NIN. Last time I wanted to input my NIN in a form, I put the ID document number which was rejected by the computer as not being in NIN format |
Viccur:What you have is not temporary one but the paper containing your National Identification Number (NIN). Allocation and management of NIN is actually the core function of NIMC and it is a lifetime identification of a citizen like social security numbers abroad. Identity card is self-explanatory. It is renewable every 5 years. However, note that NIN that is meant to identify you for life is not visibly written anywhere on the national identity card though embedded in the chip for data machine to read. Thus if you are asked to lawfully provide your NIN, the national ID card may be useless in such situation. So keep that 'temporary' paper which you called useless very safe. |
mccoy47:You 'beated' me to the question. |
Aspireahead:The judgement of Hague Court is not advisory. It is the duty of the UN Security Council to implement it and force compliance if necessary. It is in furtherance of that duty that the Security Council backed the France's initiative to peacefully implement the judgement through the Greentree treaty. Nigeria being non-aligned, was (and is still) not in a position to take on the world powers. |
The Sun Nigeria newspaper too used to be creative in those days. I remember when El-rufai reported that Mantu as deputy senate president demanded bribe for him to be confirmed as minister. The Sun headline was "DISMANTUED" |
Pavore9:Don't mind them. The annoying part is the Thisday Dome is not even an office but a plot of land on which he erected a tent-like canopy which he uses as commercial event centre in the central business district. Because of its central location, it is well patronized for shows, conferences and launchings for which he charges millions. Yet he virtually had the place free since 2010. |
Dammy112:As you said, it is more 'straightforward' as it removes confusing questions. However, bear in mind that the UK authorities did not say it will confer special advantage on the applicants using the new service over the old one. |
justwise:You have evidence that applications submitted in VI are treated in UK while that of Ikeja are treated in Nigeria I limited my intervention to general visit visas |
FrontPageLawyer:This is applicable if you are using 'old' visa portal - www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk If you apply using the 'new service' - www.gov.uk/browse/visas-immigration, The Standard Visitor visa has replaced the following Family Visitor visa General Visitor visa Child Visitor visa Business Visitor visa, including visas for academics, doctors and dentists Sports Visitor visa Entertainer Visitor visa Prospective Entrepreneur visa Private Medical Treatment Visitor visa Approved Destination Status (ADS) visa I observed that most posters are still using the old service. That is why questions are asked about " How much do you have for this trip?" Or "What is your monthly income in pound sterling?". All these confusing questions have been removed from the form in the new service. Also, they removed questions about breakdown of the costs of vacation into flight, hotel etc. Just the total is required. If you are using the new service (which gives drop down choices of pound or naira), it is advisable in the light of floating exchange rate to state your annual income (which is what is asked for) as well as monthly routine expenses in naira while the cost of your stay in UK is better stated in pound sterling after all that is what you are going to spend there. With this method, you won't bother if naira suddenly take a dive while you have used a particular forex rate. It should be noted that under new service you cannot make multiple applications on one account (e.g. applying for members of family). What you will do is to make separate applications under separate accounts on www.gov.uk. After that, you go to Teleperformance website to create a single account and add all the other members of the group using the GWF generated from the gov.uk site. Infact it is a must that all members of a family traveling together must use the same account on Teleperformance if they are applying at the same time. I used the new service for my family and I. Our visas came out within 5 days in Abuja- did biometrics on Monday, received decision mail on Thursday, collected passports on Friday. No priority added value service. |
justwise:What evidence are you asking for? I gave the logic behind that statement immediately after the statement. It was a response made in the context of the point raised by the person I quoted; that some agents believe that decision on visas submitted in VI is handled in the UK while those submitted in Ikeja are handled in Nigeria. It surely does not mean that visa applications are not made in other countries outside Nigeria. Context matters |
lexyj123:Visa applications especially for general visit visa cannot be handled outside Nigeria. While you fill the form online, supporting documents are hard copies. So how will they take such physical documents to UK and return them within a week Lagos especially VI get delayed because of many numbers of applicants. Note that over 70% of applicants get decisions within 5 working days if you apply in Abuja while less than that percentage get decisions within a whooping 10 working days in Lagos (Ikeja and VI) |
Cameron has no choice, he had to resign as he just did. In parliamentary system of government bring practiced by UK, once the government is defeated on major policy issue, the government collapse. It doesn't even have to be by a referendum, a majority vote in the parliament against his major policy will see him out. This is unlike presidential system in US or Nigeria. If obamacare had failed in the congress, it wouldn't require Obama to quit but such major policy defeat in UK will end the career of the prime minister. The same apply to the recent defeat of Obama immigration policy in the Supreme Court. |
lexyj123:1. UK visit visa is $132 not $142 2. The extra $84 is because Ikeja is a pay-to-use centre which you can avoid if you choose V.I. 3. Teleperformance does not issue visa, it is just a customer-facing application processing centre like VFS for onward transfer to the consulate for decision. Therefore, Ikeja centre which is run by them cannot generously give visa because that is the responsibility of the UKBA. 4. It may appear that patrons of Ikeja centre succeed more because they are likely to be more qualified for visa in the first place because of the financial status of most of them 5. Given the sheer number of patrons of VI, it follows that number of failures there must also be more than that of Ikeja and Abuja. Whichever centre you choose, don't panic. Just be truthful in your application. If you sincerely believe that you deserve being given the visa, the ECO will believe so too. |
awa:Demand for foodstuffs in the north is higher during Ramadan than any other period |
fados4sure:If you live in the north, you will know that all these banned goods are only complied with in the south, not in the north. Be it furniture, rice, turkey, vehicles, etc, they come in regularly and easily through northern borders and openly displayed that you begin to wonder who the ban help |
kenny987:What states in the south-south and south-east spend on state-organized Christmas carols (with live tv transmission) and Christmas trees far surpass this. It is the same oil money which Ebonyi, Anambra, Enugu and Cross-river don't currently officially derive that is spent on that. The way states in south-south and south-east are mono-religious is the way many states in the north are. Your priority does not have to be their priority. You made a good point in your penultimate paragraph though. |
Etinosajay:At first glance, I didn't see your initial post as questions rather I read (wrongly?) insinuations about the link between the religious injunction that the OP referred to and terrorism especially since some posters before you appeared to be more concerned about the religious reference than the outcome of the OP investigation. Peace. |
Etinosajay:Does Exodus 20 v16 (the 9th commandment) motivate terrorists to attack? |
kolaaderin:Ok. You are right with the link between the pics |
Fedayeen02:Not necessarily. Azman oil in Gwarinpa sell at N143 and they perhaps have the best pumps in FCT |
blackpanda:I am surprised about this alarm too. The Minister (speaking as the Managing Director of nnpc) was specific about why he ordered the NNPC mega stations that are inside the cities to sell at N143 while those located in rural areas should sell at lower price. He said that he noticed long queues in the city stations when they were selling at N135 because people were ready to save N10 per litre. |
kolaaderin:I actually share the same opinion with him though we may be wrong. All the pictures are from the US Capitol quite alright but those two pictures are not necessarily from the same occasion of the ooni's visit. |
igwegeorgiano:You can download Yoruba keyboard |
If anybody is demoted here, it is Akabueze. Special Adviser to the President is equivalent to full cabinet rank Minister. Senior Special Assistant is equivalent of a Minister of State. DG Budget is not even up to a Permanent Secretary rank By the way, Tijjani Abdullahi was brought in as DG budget in February 2016 after the removal of Alhaji Yahaya Gusau who was earlier appointed in August 2015 and was in charge when the padding took place, so he couldn't have been punished for what he was brought in to correct. |
