Any hope of reprieve for this man so? This one that all nairalanders united against him. |
If the case is as being reported, then Why has the legislator representing the girl's constituency in Balyesa House of Assembly not raised the issue in the house? Why have the senators and Representatives from Balyesa including Ben Bruce not escalate it to the National Assembly? Why have both Balyesa and Kano state governments kept mute on the issue even now that media have taken up the cause? I read the IGP's and NAPTIP' chairman's interviews in the Punch of today. They both virtually washed their hands off the case and rather appear to rely on the Emir of Kano to help in solving the case. This is how chibok case was politically muddled till it became unsolvable. |
@ Slap1 Thanks for posting the full article. You have helped us greatly now that we can read the details and make an informed judgement of the character of our leader and how provable and tenable the allegations are. That is much better than relying on cover headlines which may just be sensational to sell the magazine. That was my initial gripe when somebody said that the content of the magazine was 'locked' Regards. |
engrjacuzzi:Before you distort history, now sit down for a quick lesson. There are 3 Yar'aduas in that picture. First from left is Musa Yar'adua. He was the father of Shehu and Umaru. He was the Minister for Lagos Affairs up to 15th January 1966 and after that, he did not participate in government till his death. Railway was running well during his time and did not require any revival. In any case, railway was not part of his portfolio. In the middle is Shehu Yar'adua. Son of Musa and older brother of Umaru. He was in the military and rose to become second in command in Obasanjo military regime as Chief of Staff- Supreme Headquarters. He was never a head of any government. He was in no position to revive/reform anything much less railway. On the right, is Umaru Yar'adua. He was a state governor and later the president of Nigeria. He battled ill-health during his tenure more than he battled Nigeria's problem. Before he came in, obasanjo civilian regime had negotiated Chinese loans to rehabilitate railway. He came in 2007 and suspended the whole project and the loan. It was Jonathan regime that revisited the project and reinstated the loan. That is what led to the delay in completing Kaduna-Abuja rail line while changing of the gauge of Lagos-Kano rail never took off. Now which 'Musa' and which railway revival are you referring to? |
slap1:What is difficult to get there? What the OP posted is a photograph of a hard copy which appear worn. It is not a digital copy. He can also post the photographs of the relevant pages of the article or did he only conveniently stumble on the cover? |
I thought the guy would be there temporarily for three months. Why appointing personal image maker? |
godwin120alex:Today is his birthday and there are 12 full pages of advertisement pages 39 to 50 in today's ThisDay by his well-wishers (church members) |
@OP. What you posted is not the Lagos State allocation but allocations to each local government in Lagos State. There is a world of difference. Federation account funds are shared by the 3 tiers of government - federal, states + FCT, local governments and specials funds like ecological. |
Why do you Christians of southern origin have victim mentality? Anybody who has lived or living in Kaduna will know that the amendment to the law is to tie up the loose end of the existing law which has been in operation since 2004 (after the religious riots that rocked the state 12 years ago) in the light of Zaria saga and the allegation of some Islamic sects making uncomplimentary remarks about a wife of the prophet. The 2004 law affects (and in fact targeted) Islamic preachers more than Christians. It is the law that empowers JNI to regulate who and who can preach during Ramadan. It is the law that forbids any preacher (Islamic) that preach hate even in other states from being allowed to have tafsir in kaduna mosques. Name any Christian preacher/pastor that have been banned under the existing law. |
HiddenShadow:The OBJ's pairing was for 2011 elections and Nigeria was not in trouble then. Th OP's extract is from page 111 of My Watch. Read it for yourself.

But why is GEJ's foster father so easy to kidnap? Even when GEJ was in power, he was kidnapped despite the security that should be available to the president's family round the clock as a matter of right. |
sleazy5:ICC mostly take evidence of witnesses behind protection. The South African court took evidence against that disabled athlete from masked witnesses. How did they watch the demeanour of the witness if it is that important? |
A few months ago, OAU student union (before its proscription) called on government to remove the VC of the university and prosecute him. Now it has become an offence for the same govt to remove the VCs of some universities that do not even have governing councils in place. The students should learn to be consistent. |
aventura:Omonoba Ereduawa went on visit round the country in 1981. He even went to Ife and spent 4 good days with oba Sijuade |
Is it the presidency that counted the parastatals to be 24 or the OP? There are 26 in that list. No 21 and No 23 contain names of two parastatals each. |
publicenemy:I don't know which newspaper the OP quoted, but the same advertorial is on page 7 of Daily Trust of Monday 15 February 2016 (Today) |
That building is not the main Sure-p office. Its main office is opposite the federal ministry of finance. The one on fire housed Maternal and Child Health (MCH) program of sure-p up to some weeks ago but now principally occupied by the staff of Primary Health Care of the ministry of health |
Gkemz:You that is 'certificateful' do not know New Media. Is Buhari the first president to appoint someone to take charge of new media? What position was Reno Omokiri holding in Jonathan government? By the way, new media is social media like online newspapers, webcast, blogs, Twitter, online fora like nairaland. Old media refer to traditional media like radio, television, hardcopy newspapers. |
omowolewa:Ladoja came back to complete his term because his term had not elapsed at the time of the judgement but he couldn't recontest under PDP because primaries had already been done which returned Akala. Etteh did not challenge her impeachment in court but the House of Representatives reversed itself at the very last meeting held in June 2011 by voting to delete any reference to her impeachment in its record of proceeding thus granting her amnesty of sort. |
Government should just ignore this noise-making Cacol or is it Cacoon They shouted GEJ down on fuel subsidy. Three years later with trillions of naira down the drain, we are begging PMB govt to remove fuel subsidy. They shouted on Yar'adua to reverse the sale of refineries in 2007, a decade later and tons of money on turn-around maintenance, the refineries hardly function and worth less now than they were in 2007. They forced Obj not to sell Nitel. Nitel was eventually liquidated 15 years later at a price that could not even pay off its few staff. If the electricity companies cannot break-even, how are they going to improve on provision of electricity? A poster suggested they should take bank loans. Will banks lend to a company that cannot generate enough revenue to pay back? The CACOL that is now personalizing the increment to Fashola, where was it when the whole process started in January 2015? Was Fashola or even PMB in govt then? It was a good decision taken by GEJ govt to allow the NERC and electricity companies to review MYTO and set competitive prices for each region. Public hearings were conducted by the companies throughout the country. The noise makers didn't complain that time. The process was virtually completed ready for gazette by October 2015 before Fashola was appointed into govt. He didn't participate in the fixing of the tariffs and the law doesn't even permit the minister of power to do so. It is the responsibility of the Chairman of NERC to issue Regulatory Order on tariffs which Amadi did before vacating the position. Where is the corruption there? |
Lawmosh:Ooni is her grandson not the son |
TeOwl:I don't care which part of the basin, plate, bowl or even bucket that Chad produce oil from. The post that I quoted appear to infer that Chad does not have oil (otherwise French companies would have been exploring there), so I gave those statistics to show Chad is indeed an oil producing nation. I remember that Chadian govt fined CNPC a sum of $1.2billion and suspended its licences in 2014 for polluting the environment while drilling oil in the southern part of the country. I don't know which basin Chad south belongs to. |
Who copied who between GAC of China and Innoson of Nigeria? Only one of them can lay claim to the design patent.
|
I just watched the video and the interview. My question is why did Federal Capital Development Authority and SURE-P whose official was molested while at his duty post keep quiet on the issue? If the man had been killed or maimed, is that how they will unceremoniously dismiss him as they have reportedly done? |
TeOwl:Chad has the 10th largest oil reserve in Africa at 1.5 billion barrels and has been producing oil since 2003. It is currently the 7th biggest producer in Africa and oil accounts for about 70% of its income. Niger too is an oil producing nation with fully functioning refinery. |
danie09:End of the bogus case. She needs to reconstruct her case to make any meaning to the enlightened. Dis current one na wash. |
urchmanx:And I am giving the president benefit of the doubt that he was 'frank' in his speech because it was a meeting with his fellow Nigerians not addressed to the whole world. |
urchmanx:It wasn't an interview with any media. It was during his interactive session with Nigerians living in UK. He was essentially addressing his fellow citizens in a town-hall meeting |
GworoChewinMaga:The answer is a big YES. He wrote to both the senate president and the speaker. However, because the plenary sessions of both chambers have been suspended because of committees meetings on budget, the letter could not be read to the members. |
Mayflowa:I could see your confusion. What you have described here is not TSA but IPSIS - centralized payroll system introduced by GEJ govt to check the issue of ghost worker. It has nothing to do with TSA and was fully implemented during his regime. |
ogahug:Can you educate us about the relationship of BVN with TSA? Since you have been operating TSA on Remitta platform, how many times have you had to supply your BVN? Furthermore, Buhari did not discredit GEJ in his speech. It was not rightly reported by the newspaper that the OP quoted. See another version of the same event "We have tried to impose what we call Treasury Single Account. The reason is simple. This government did not initiate it, it was initiated by the previous government. But it was so unpopular to the bureaucracy, so the previous government for its own reasons, could not impose it. |
