Jman, I got that fixed. Actually, it is tuition fee and other fees that sum up to $10-$15. In the case of Memorial Uni., their tuition fee is $3780 for 9 semester and that is $420/program

Okay Paschal137, I see a list of items that should be paid for and after summing them up, I realized that the total fees is around $14000 or so. I mean Memorial Uni. in this case. my question now is, how do we pay this money? Is it only the tuition fee that will be paid to school first and then, all other will follow when I get to Canada?

Paschal137, thanks for the response. I found Memorial University pretty awesome and a little in-line with what I studied in school. However, I cant seem to find anything like PGD on their website,except Msc and Phd as graduate programs.

According to an article I read at www.ehow.com about cheap uni. ,Newfoundland (Memorial) Uni. was averaging $2443 as at 2009/2010 for international graduate programs. I guess it should be around $3000 by now. You can see it below.

NL'er, they are one hell crazy folks on planet earth. You need to see how they do their things when the management of my school and them have a little mis-understanding. They don't hide it and they will tell you "they killed and can still do it again"

Some people call them criminals. . . Have you ever been to where the oil is produced from? I believe if you hailed from the inland of that territory, your story would be a different one. Do you know the degree of pollution these people are exposed to? What have they gained?

Anyway, am just at the information gathering stage. All I know for now is that you will have to apply to the school , fill their form which can be gotten on their site, and pay application fee if it is required by the school.

My own confusion is the tuition fees, how to get a sponsor, don't know if it a must that the sponsor will pay the fee, how to leverage on the financial aid and scholarship programs and all start. I wished sum1 will explain it to me step by step.

No ,I have not done anything. I am still in school and doing my HND but I do hope to do my PGD in Canada after I graduate this year.

I am still at the enquiry stage for the student visa application and everything that has to do with it.

I also want to use this medium to let anybody here know that Canada is this place to be. There are jobs there, especially in the oil and gas industry over there.

How did I know about this if I have never been to Canada? Two things say so. One, the people who have been there have come here(nairaland) to say what they know about Canada. Also, I subscribed to indeed.com job alert, which is specifically streamlined to alert me of any jobs vacancies in the oil and gas sector of Canada. Believe it or not, I get up to 50 opening every week and that is about 200 vacancies every month. There are other areas to explore in this regard. Just head over to indeed.com and you can do the same.

Man, I don't understand the whole school fees figures. They seem so high.

I see somewhere around $8k-$12k as tution fee for schools in Canada. Are we expected to pay all this money at once?
Kindly explain this step by step. My choice is as a PGD student and maybe am mistakem something. It's my first time with something like this and I hardly know anything here.

Do they provide financial aid and how does it work?

wow! coincidentally,I'm also a prospective student of Stouffville college. Well,if the college insist u shld re-apply,then re-apply if you r still interested in d same schl. At times it's necessary for Man to settle some scores. It's part of those things bro. Act fast and re-apply. We are 2geda Bro. As it is in my case now,it's like d college gotta request I also re-apply when I am through with my medical issue in 2013 (God willing) So,we gotta keep tryn 2geda.

U didnt follow d previous thread of travelling to Canada that's why U didnt unnerstand my full story. I applied for visa in April,2011 and was called 4 interview in 4th July,2011 got medical call on 13th July did medical on 27th July and responded to d DMP dat i've treated and cured of TB 8yrs ago. She noted this down and investigation continues concerning d ailment. In a nutshell,Doctor confirmed dat it relapses. I'm a prospective student of Stouffville college going for ACCA. Pls. let me knw when u get admn. and d school. Also,which prog.? Degree or master's or PGD?

I followed your comment in the old thread and I wished to say sorry for the misfortune and may this be turned into fortunes in coming years. Only God knows best.

Before I lay down my question, I will like to let you know that there is a reason for everything. I have a friend who we both wrote an aptitude test together immediately after our NATIONAL DIPLOMA in2007 and I didnt not make it to the interview stage. Only God knows why. I ran wild and mad becaues it was actually a job in an oil company( TOTAL to be precise). Guess what? My friend sat me down and he drilled me with his own life story.

He finished secondary school at the age of 16. Wrote JAMB the following year and got admission into UNICAL to study medicine. Then, they went on a year strike and that was how he lost that admission. Thereafter, he tried to get admission into other schools including the same UNICAL but all to no avail. This guy is bright and smart but he could not gain admission. He kept trying till 4years and at this stage, some of his colleagues in the secondary school had almost started graduating.

This was someone whom they thought would be among the first set of student to graduate. but luck was against him. He later applied to my school to study electrical engineering but he was not given the enrty level that he applied for, but a Pre-ND level. He reluctantly joined and the rest is history. Today, he is doing better than most of his friends that went to the University, while he went to a polytechnic. He is staff of TOTAL E&P while some of his colleagues cant feed their family.

It is true that delay is not denial. What is yours will always be yours.


Now to my question. I am currently a HND student as a Petroleum Engineering student and I will be graduating this year by August or November. Please, what would be the best way to enter into Canada? What program can I apply for that will get me job or do I need to apply for post graduate diploma or something?

It seem that the Canadian economy is very favourable at the moment as all indications tend to point in that direction and by going through the threads of past posters, I have come to develop a love for Canada.

Please I will like someone to guide me as my experience with travel internationally is ZERO. I dont know how to get or apply for a passport, visa and stuffs like that. I will like someone to explain the process on that from scratch.

Secondly, let me give a brief history of my background. I am currently studying at the PETROLEUM TARINING INSTITUTE in Warri and as a Petroleum Engineering Student who hope to get a job in the oil and gas industry.

I shall be rounding up my program as an HND graduate by August this year.I did Mineral Resources Engineering at the OND level in the same school.

With this, what would be the best way to get into Canada and also get a job in the oil and gas industry there.

I have subscribed to indeed.com for job alert and I get daily alert for oil jobs in Canada but I have  not applied to any one yet. If I do, is it possible to get the job while here in Nigeria? how do put all this together? How much does it cost to travel to Canada? Thank you in advance.
