December tinz. Aside that, I never knew they still carry people with laptop since those hay days are over.I Once remember carrying a quotation list for ceramics. Been that the price was in dollars, the police thought it was yahoo I was doing. I explained and explained that this is legitimate business belonging to my dad but they insisted and took me to station. Good thing, the station was close to the home. The constables who saw me said,"watin I dey do for here"? I said "dem carry me because I carry quotation list for ceramic product". The constables alerted the police who apprehended me that "this na Oga son, oga wey dey live next to us". That was how they left me. I thank God that it was the police station I was familiar with and not the ones I never knew. This was somewhere in 2007.

its a low income country where majority of the people are into subsistence farming. The country makes money from its ports and cotton!! Nigerians are more dominant in the retail sector, does not make them so dependent on nigeria as u assume

The good thing about the place is, there is partial light. The electricity supply to residential homes are very OK. Any other thing na suffer.

My experience this weekend at an INEC booth was deeply worrying. While eligible Nigerians were too busy chasing money, getting ready for the Experience concert etc, my registration booth was full of citizens of neighbouring countries trying their hardest to get their hands on a Voters card - which has become the standard ID for Nigerians that want to open bank accounts, purchase phones, rent homes etc. Indeed it is a direct path towards getting a Nigerian Passport.

My PVC process took about 45 minutes and I took time to "chat" with my fellow "voters" . 9 out of 10 claimed they were from "Lagos" but the accents were too strong to be Lagosians.

I asked which local government area they were from and what area in Lagos they grew up etc - and these Niger/Chad citizens were as confused as a rabbit in a suit. I challenged the INEC officials and their response was -"uncle, they just told us to register anyone who comes o!"-

Homeland security is finished...and we wonder why BH is winning the war?

this things happens in some african strong hold countries where politics is very high. It happened in ivory coast, happened in Ghana. For ivory coast, malians troop in to register, for ghana; burkinabe, ivorians and maybe togolese troop in to register. But one thing I don't like about Nigeria is ,it is always done in the open and the people can be so ignorant. God bless Africa!

- Don't just rely on your barbing business, branch into other forms of business legal or not. You can run a successful weed/cannabis enterprise, you buy in bulk at cheaper rates, then you distribute at your own price. Your business would provide cover for you. Just settle the police & they'd look away, in Nigeria anything goes. When the going gets tough the tough gets going. (I know this because barber shops are one of the easiest places to lay your hands on weed)

- If business is booming, don't place all your eggs in one basket. Save up & open other shops putting your protégés in charge.

Nsawam prisons in ghana is not a joke. The worst of the worst prisoners are there, its a one way street;you are own your own. There is something I hate about the sentencing giving to convicts in africa, they are very long and Ghana is no exception. They do not temper justice with mercy. They give you long prison terms like 10-20years in prison even if na laptop you steal. Anyway, I feel for this guys in there,no matter if they are criminals, they should not be condemned nor rejected. We humans have rights and this rights ought to be respected;this is one thing I like about the west. I seriously wish I have the power to help cause it is not every prisoners are prisoners. In life, there is no telling how the end can be for you. I want people to understand this.

Just my opinion based on observation. The economy has all its eggs in one basket....oil. Even so....is it not bad policy to be a major producer of oil and not have refineries to produce fuels to satisfy the local market and to export? ...think Venezuela. As Boss said earlier....basically, American shale oil is a game changer. America was the biggest importer of oil and Nigeria's major customer. America is now self sufficient and is now an exporter as well...of high quality shale oil at low prices. The writing is on the wall...OPEC has read it and is about to hold an emergency meeting to protect themselves

OPEC itself is in confusion as iraq, iran and libya are not willing to come nor reduce their production output.
