d guy is right, IMF is bad news.
When d thieving politicians of d then National Party of Nigeria (NPN) ran d nation aground, d IMF knowing that Nigeria was in a very weak position attached slavish conditionalities to their loan which d Buhari/Idiagbon govt rejected. d then economic team led by Dr Onaolapo Soleye devised d ingenuous system of batter 4 oil with Brazil & some other countries which was highly successful & had significant impact in d recovery of d economy.
When Gen Babangida overthrew d Buhari govt he tried to take d IMF loan which met wit stiff resistance frm civil society, Labour, students etc & he had to drop d idea. IBB however took d country down d path of what he described as d Structural Adjustment Program (SAP) which was championed by Chief Olu Falae & which was like taking d IMF loan thru d backdoor & included majorly d devaluation of our currency. d Naira went into a free fall & has never recovered. d IMF is bad news & a tool of neo-colonialism. IBB's error of judgment caused d nation dearly.
The IMF wahala was all over Africa during that period, the Brazil move and Umaru Dikko fiasco was the reason the British made sure they remove Buhari.
Buhari is a serious head ache to their agenda in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.
Nigerians paid big time then and the country is still paying till today.

I think one point I've gathered from this argument is this; the Chinese give infrastructure and not money, and that already nullifies your argument.

You claim the IMF gives money and monitors what it's used for but the Chinese give without condition?... With all the IMF loans Nigeria and other African countries have received over the decades, how come we still struggle to point out the location of infrastructure these loans were used for?... Whereas on the other hand, the Chinese build infrastructure directly without handing cash over to our kleptomaniac leaders; in Nigeria today we can point out the functional Abuja to Kaduna rail, the Lagos to Ibadan rail, the negotiations for Mambilla are ongoing etc.

After so many decades of enriching klepto leaders who in turn return the stolen funds to western banks, it's amusing that we still have Nigerians who still BELIEVE the IMF actually cares about how the loans they give to Africa are spent.
E go forever dey better for you.

No one is a fool here and they recognize the fact that one has to be weary of the Chinese loan but here are the real point the guy made to counter your Aunty you’re so much willing to lick her behind.

1. The only pitfall with Chinese loans is when you’re unable to pay back they takeover the project as their own(has happened in some other African countries) however, the infrastructure has been put in place and they won’t remove it.

2. The West don’t care if you use the loan for the purpose it is meant for. They don’t care if the money is embezzled or not. That is why they keep giving loans to corrupt regime of GEJ because they more you embezzle the more you’re unable to pay and the more enslaved you become.

3. The Chinese don’t deal with thieves, they put their money where their mouth is and make sure the loans are used for the purpose they’re meant for.

4. This is the most dangerous part of the western loan. The Chinese don’t require the government to retrench its civil Servants when they default or are unable to pay up. The West on the other hand as part of its loan conditions will require the government to retrench Ita civil servants.

The bottom line is that, everyone recognize that China is not Santa Claus but their intention is far more genuine and open than the west’s. Even the west recognize this and they fear China taking over but with lesser or no intention to enslave that is why they’ve being in a panick mode since the China-Africa summit.

They know their milking cows are about to be set free. If not when was the last time a British PM or a German chancellor or French President visited Africa let alone in the same year.

Unfortunately for them and fortunately for Africa, their leader(the US) is under the leadership of a mad man.
Good morning Sir, you are the smartest Nigerian I've met on this forum.
Most people on this forum don't even know that the West is the POWER behind the heavy stealing going in Nigeria.
The money they borrow us, is it not the same money stolen from Nigeria?, to rub it in, they will also attach inhuman conditionalities, all kinds of austerity measures like SAP and so on.
People don't KNOW that the West will prefer a financially reckless government in any third world country, to a prudent and highly focused one.
They will not help Nigeria and if we are not careful, they will sabotage our efforts at getting help elsewhere.
These are the people that Nigerians praise to high heavens, due to high moral, intellectual and spiritual bankruptcy.

Lol be there waiting for that platter. There was a window of opportunity in 2007 which was missed by the SE. In 2007 PPAwon Abia and Imo APGA won in Anambra That is 3 states out of 5

Instead of supporting both or better still merging PPA and APGA together to be at the forefront for Ibos and fighting for their interest, So that any politician that wants Ibo votes will come and meet them to negotiate and Ibos give their demands they did the opposite, they disintegrated

Immediately Theodore Orji won with PPA he defected to PDP,
Immediately Ikedi Ohakim won with PPA, he defected to PDP
Immediately Peter Obi left seat under APGA he defected to PDP

All because they want to join the easy Any govt in Power in the center

So who will grow the "Ibo party", the same thing you people will abuse Tinubu for who stayed at ACN against all odds and grew the party

Last regime under Jonathan Ibos were jumping all over that PDP is their own, Now the real owners of PDP are back to take over their party and they have relegated you to being inconsequential again because they can easily tke you for granted

The best way to go is embrace APGA totally in all states, chase out PDP, when PDP or any mega party needs your vote negotiate better things
If you know how many times I have hammered in this issue on nairaland, that they need a VERY STRONG REGIONAL PARTY.
But no they will rather abuse Yoruba and lay curses on Tinubu, as if Tinubu and Yoruba folks are the reason for SE inability to do the right thing.

The company made pay slip for half and the remaining half is paid to him in cash.

What is the difference between THOSE who wage wars to capture Africans, that were sold to the whites and THOSE who are stealing from their countries in Africa and keeping the money in white man's countries.
Anyway, anyone reading this, who wants to know more about black man's slavery in America, should look for books by Lance Horner and Kyle Onstort.
