kettykin: How Awolowo invented Tribalism and introduced Nepotism into Nigerian Politics

http://www.dawodu.net/igho.htm
So the refusal of the Yoruba to allow Zik become the premier of western region was the reason yorubas are labelled tribalists, wonders shall never end, Yorubas are not subservient to anybody, thank God such nonsense was not allowed to happen, Yorubaland would have probably become another Plateau state by now, Lord have mercy, if protecting my home is tribalism, so be it.

dederocs: YORUBAS ALWAYS ENSURE YOU DO NOT RENT HOUSES TO abokis-bOKO haram are following the ideology of Usman Dan Fodio, they want to take over Lagos-conquer to the sea.Be wise, else you perish...do not allow religious sentiments to blind you.Terrorists use religion to penetrate areas and they spread through mosques and religious centres. Our security agents should carry raids and do stop and search regularly.Boko haram must want to come into Lagos, because they want to make an impact.Nigerian Immigration should start to deport anyone without proper documentation back to their country.
National security is imperative.
You make me laugh, aboki is not as stupid as you think they are.
what makes you think that aboki is fighting a religious war, Uthman dan fodio war was a political war masqueraded as a religious war.
I can assure you that boko haram will not bomb anywhere in south west, taja ban sinwin a mo oju olowo e.
The hausa people failed to annex Yorubaland in the pre colonial era, what make you think they will succeed now.
Boko haram is the northern Nigeria pdp, they have unfinished business among themselves, let them sort it out.

Clerverly: So so on point! Look I am a thorough-bred-Igbo man, but when it comes to Nigerian politics we dont cut it and with the present kind of leaders we are unfortunate to be bestowed on by the products of corruption from the centre, We would never be there, at least for the foreseeable future. It pains and my heart bleeds for the so called youth from my place cos it seems, we have not learned anything from the misdeeds of these Abuja contractors, who are only interested in what comes to their family and lineage without giving a damn what their people intends to benefit. The same set of people would come back and play the ethnic card when they are being outsmarted in their vainglory in Abuja. Surprising, the youth of the Igbos who are "assumed" to be intelligent enough to decipher when deceit is being played, would be the first to buy that and start playing the victims. My Igbo brothers and sisters on this forum, can we ask ourselves these probing questions below and try to reflect on them before we decide where to pitch our tent in 2015;

Why do the Igbo always support any government in power (Shagari, Babangida, Abacha, OBJ,Yardua and GEJ, I stand to be corrected on these)?

Why are the Igbos only remembered during electioneering periods?

Why do we have the worst road network in whole of the country and yet we have supported any Government that had ruled?

Why did we allow PDP to rig these characters into the helm-of-affairs in our respective states notably Elechi and T A Orji?

What is our stand or the so -called stick and carrot approach in 2015?

What has the present government at the center done for us to warrant us supporting it in 2015.

Ndi Ibe Anyi E keleem unu, Ka Udo Chia!!!
Brother you've said it all, the answers to these questions are the solution to Igbo question in Nigeria.
I am personally recommending EXODUS, MOVEMENT OF JAH PEOPLE TO THE EAST, where a conference should be organize to chart a way forward, honestly its long overdue.

Adejoro74: Like your folks trouping from SW, with all its milk and honey, to London to beg for social safety net and deprive citizens of their dues. What does Lagos govt offer those Igbos? Nothing. Instead they take from them and close their bizs at will. Also I guess yorubas do not live in the North and East and SS. You are an ugly baboon, like Obj/Tinubu/Fasola.
@ Bolded is the main reason why Igbos should seat down and think of how to move their home forward.
Why Igbos don't want to go home is a bit strange and its self destructive.
The jews also face similar situation in Europe and look at the state of Israel today. There is a similarity between my own people and igbos especially in the areas of commerce, in those days, the Ogbomoso people loved to move around a lot, especially along the west costs of Africa for business, all of a sudden Koffi Bushia overthrown Kwame Nkrumah and my people where chased out of Ghana, my family a very rich one became a shadow of its former self when they got back to Ogbomoso, this happened to so many families in Ogbomoso at that period, many people died because it is unacceptable to them, however that mass return was the reason why Ogbomoso is a town and not a village today. Good luck to the Igbos.

The second day Fayemi gave free laptops, I got bombarbed with software installation requests. Guess what softwares?
TVC, Virtual DJ, VLC, Ymessenger, Power DVD, e.t.c.
NOBODY ASKED FOR ENCARTA!
And I have seen enough HD P.o.r.n to last me sometime.
Students that were not given any tangible computer education suddenly became owners of laptops. What do u expect?
Bros, Afraid dey catch me for these our so called leaders
Abeg make we hear word, no one can stop the march of progress. Let these governors give what they like to their people, the most important thing is that lives are being touched. Oh because these are the kids of ordinary citizens, we should protect them from exposure to internet and all?, what about the children of the privileged in private schools that have access to the same thing.
The same laptops and tablets that will bring some children to destruction will bring other children to greatness, it is a question what you what to do with your life and how committed your parent are. So let the other governors follow, the world has gone hi-tech, Nigerians should not be left behind.

free13: A very good point. An ex-convict is an ex-convict.
If Awolowo had been a man in the mold of Alams, southwest will not be where it is today, i am disappointed at the way some people reason, what Alarms stole was enough to build a modern Bayelsa. How much did Awolowo, Donald Duke and Fasholas of this country have, but they made up their minds to engrave their names on the sands of time, which is the heart of their people, hence they were condemned to perform.
The selfishness of the likes of Alarms in the Niger delta is what is probably responsible for the situation of things in that region while the selflessness of the likes of Awolowo was the reason why southwest can not be ignored in this country, it is by the same reason that responsible fathers are better than irresponsible ones, IT IS CALLED SELFLESSNESS, IT IS NOT ABOUT TODAY, IT IS A QUESTION OF FUTURE, WHY SHOULD A LEADER CONDEMN HIS PEOPLE TO BACKWARDNESS, 300 YEARS OF SLAVERY AND A 100 YEARS OF COLONIZATION IS A RESULT OF SELFISHNESS. AFRICA, NIGERIA, BLACK MAN IS LAGGING BEHIND TODAY BECAUSE OF THE SELFISHNESS OF OUR ANCESTORS, WHO HUNT THEIR WEAK BROTHERS DOWN,AND LINED THEM UP IN CHAINS IN EXCHANGE FOR MIRRORS, UMBRELLAS,HOT DRINKS AND MONKEY JACKETS.
I expect the people of Bayelsa to say no to this rape that's being perpetuated on them, unfortunately they are all paying mute.
Now the joke is on them, they should maintain their stupid silence and stop whining about the north, or west drinking their oil 'cause these regions are not their enemies, the enemies are household enemies, enough said.

They should learn from China and stay off Nigeria's decision. We respected their Gay rights as pertains their decision to let a man kolombo another man and a woman finger another woman, we didnt interfere. Should any country chose to pardon their Lucifer, then its for our national interest. Whether I love my President or not, is my business and not that of Obamaland.
I share your sentiment brother but you know what?, Alams na thief o, do you realize how much this guy has stolen?, in a sane country Alams will get a life sentence or more.
Americans will complain because this was how we became a debtor nation before this country managed to come out of it through debt forgiveness.
Nigeria is on the march again, history is about to repeat it self. Imagine if every known thief is given a state pardon, what kind of message are we sending to the youths?.
Have you been to our prisons to see people who are serving heavy sentences for light offenses?. There is no difference between a pen robber and an armed robber, a thief is a thief.

If they can't manage the money they are being given now, do you think they'll use proceeds of oil wells if given to them to improve the lives of average Niger Deltan?

Nigeria has a population of over 100million while the number of. OPL allotees are not even more than a thousand. How has the ownership of oil wells helped the real Northerners on the streets? What have I personally gained from Tony Ezenna, Arthur Eze, Emeka Offor, Tony Elumelu, Jim Ovia, ABC Orjiakor, Oduah etc even though they are Igbos? Absolutely nothing but oppression of the masses with wealth which does not belong to anyone but all Nigerians. We are deeply brainwshed.

It's now obvious that Fashola thinks he's COMPETING with the federal govt. Is the state govt supposed to COMPETE with federal govt? This COMPETITION mentality is what has been causing schisms between federal govt and southwest state governors. The southwest governors are just being CHILDISH. There should be COLLABORATION between all tiers of govt to deliver services to the people, irrespective of party affiliation.

Gbawe: Just listen to yourself. Why do you people come with such a gene of unfairness you display with such pride when even other Africans will laugh at your rudimentary reasoning? Tinubu was never President and never had ultimate power to shape the destiny of an entire nation. Why, if you guys are equitable in outlook, persist in summarily judging that a 21 year old you know is "stronger" than a 9 year old when you know damn well that what you are doing amounts to a very unfair comparison most balanced folks would never make? Why not compare two 9 years old against each other and two 21 year old like for like? If at all you will compare two individuals of different ages, why not look at what they were doing when the same age?

Even the way you speak is unfairly arrogant and flippantly dismissive. Is OBJ, for you, now on an unmatched level because he was President while Tinubu was not? Some of you are ridiculous with the things you say here. We all know merit is not promoted accordingly in Nigeria. The same way you talk flippantly is how insincere9gerian would seek to tell us we must not compare GEJ with Fashola merely because GEJ has been President yet me and you know that if our nation is about merit and ability then GEJ would only be considered if all the Fasholas, Dukes, Ribadus, Oshiomholes, Akpabios et al in Nigeria have dropped and died.

Our aberrant nation now even affects how we think and talk. I have no problem with anyone nominating OBJ but try and validate your choice from an intellectually defensible perspective. It demeans us all when our argument is limited to "Tinubu has never been to prison", "he never cleared national debt" or "he never rubbed shoulder with world leaders" type of postulations. I am sorry but I really don't discern much critically effective reasoning on this forum.
Oga Ggawe has it ever occur to you that most Nigerians are lazy thinkers, how do you think we arrived at where Nigeria is at the moment, there is no difference between the leaders and the followers.
When a whole country decided to WEAR AN ASO EBI OF IGNORANCE, the few who dare to be different are demonized, the majority will always carry the votes while the minority will always be right.
The unintelligent majority are the spanners in the wheels of progress of the minority, and so the country goes round and round in circles, may the good Lord have mercy on Nigeria.
Fair enough, Ok what does Ngige bring to the table apart from getting (which I hope) MAJORITY (Emphasis on MAJORITY) of SEern states and according to myopic people on this site he is not a muslim.

Ngige seem to be a rather lay-back man unlike likes of Rochas and Fashola or Ribadu. You see, in any combination (I hope you are being objective cos I want to be here) apart from the ethnical and religious issue, we need to ensure the the merger is not just another fake government waiting to have their own share.

That was why I strong was against Tinubu. Now Ngige might fill all the criteria for the SE but not for Nigeria. Remember Nigerians ARE TIRED OF THIS ETHNIC THING AND WANT DEVELOPMENT,
THE SUFFERING IS TOO MUCH.
Ngige is a true warrior, he has the boldness of a lion. He is one of the few political Davids who could dare to challenge a political Goliath and acheive his set objectives for his people.
Nna i be Yoruba o, i no be Igbo. But you no what Ngige rocks.
