FiremanX: I no go talk again but happy sales,,,,I just hope the person dat eventually buys it won't come here to complain,,,,
This is not dru23 civic. Secondly, a used car is a used car, you cannot legislate for everything. Even brand new cars develop problems but you are dealing with a man that will own up to a Bleep up is there is one and not pass the buck.
krozxborder007: Will really appreciate you opinion on Acura MDX 2008 / 2009. Is it a rugged SUV for a bad road!! Please if you have used it your kind advice will we’ll appreciated. Just looking for an SUV
It is a good SUV. Rugged get levels. The suspension is not tuned for serious offroading like the 4runner or the pathfinder or exterra but it will get you in and out of tight spots easily.
The AWD system is the best in it's class. No other comes near.
The engine is solid. The handling is superb, you'd think you were cornering in a small car.
Transmission is solid as long as you don't feed it Abro.
Overall, it's a bloody good SUV.
It will not carry 10 bags of cement and travel to ikorodu if that if what you are asking about it's rugged nature and bad roads.
If you drive over bad roads repeatedly with it while heavily loaded, you go buy suspension parts Wella.
Avoid the trim with the electromagnetic shock absorbers. Replacement is pricey. It can be converted to normal shocks though without any ill effects.
It's an interference engine so be sure of the maintenance records. If in doubt, change the timing belt and other timing accessories.
If that belt cut while engine dey on, kiss the engine goodbye.
sooperrescue: I beg which car is that? I have advised the OP to stick to the Lexus because he has not confirmed it he uses 0w20 on his Lexus. If he is using low quality oil on the Lexus, he can't afford a Range Rover
Na evoque be that oga. Can't post the video cos of size restriction on Nairaland.
I no get power to upload am for YouTube come post link.
Na useless car, it's not worth being on YouTube even for the wrong reasons.
ThatIgboBoy: Home to office is not actually far. Highest 15 to 20mins drive devoid of traffic It is only during the weekends I take it out to farther distance. If ur in lagos u should know from ojo to ikoyi and vgc is quite some distance. I have done that during weekends. I Don leave it to idle a lot. I maintain between 60 to 80 on highways. I believe that's good enough.
60 to 80 on the highway is not the sweet spot for fuel economy on most cars.
80 to 100 is.
Your daily drive is good since it's devoid of traffic and it's short.
Have a look at your brakes. They may be binding. Inflate your tyres properly to 36psi at least. Check your alignment both front and rear.
If this continues, you may want to check if your cat is plugged up.
sooperrescue: Hmmm. Which car is not problematic in Nigeria? Name 1? Range Rover is the best brand in the world. It's better than the Rolls Royce because they share almost the same options but Rolls Royce can not go anywhere unlike the Range Rover. That said, OP, Lexus RX 350 is a sweet powerful car. I once fixed one for over 1.5m. I was shocked. The door chrome, the headlights, the front grill, the AC sensor, the transmission fluid and oil change and a little bit of here and there. So I ran away from the car. I can not defend spending such amount for an upgraded highlander. As for the Evoque, a powerful car with a 4 plugs. All you are aware, the Lexus and the Evoque share the same fuel requirements even though the Evoque is equipped with a turbo, an electric power steering, the Lexus can't survive for long with our fuel. The Evoque does not have air suspension so it can overcome potholes. The shocks, brand new is 50k and the only thing it requires from you is to use the right oil. A lot of people mistake the 5w30 as any oil will do but will be shocked when the engine becomes unruly. From 2012 till 2019 , Evoque still require 5w30 engine oil. Lexus at 2010 recommended 0w20. Are you using the oil? If not, stay with the Lexus.

uwemjack: Went for a property inspection at Amen estate phase 2, on my way back it started raining so the road was wet. The road was very free of traffic and I was not going above 60km/h, the car in front of me stopped suddenly on the fast lane at a bus-stop there was a minibus also stopped in the slow lane, both vehicles where stoped side by side and there was no car or person in front of them as the road was free. Unfortunately they where so close that there was not enough space between them, I stepped on the rear break but there was no grip so the rear of the bike started swinging from side to side. There was several kiosks and people selling to the left of the road and the midian was like a ditch so I tried to go in-between the two vehicles. Crashed into one of the vehicles don't know which one, was thrown over the bike. I stood up felt pain on my wrist, went to the bike to turn it off then went to sit down, okada riders at the bus-stop moved my bike off the road and came to check on me. Fortunately I was fully kitted so the only injury was to my wrist where the handle bar twisted on colition. At the point I knew I had a broken wrist on my left hand as I couldn't hold it up. The 2 vehicles left immediately without even waiting to check on there vehicles or me because they knew what they did. There was another biker in a bus behind me who saw what happened, he commandeered the bus to go after the driver who caused it, and brought him back to the scene, it was an old man and he started apologizing. To cut the long story short, the biker adjusted the bike and drove it to my house as I could not. I had to wear POP cast for 9weeks.
How and why you feel the cars that stopped caused your accident is beyond me.
As per road traffic rules and the road traffic act, you are supposed to drive or ride in your case bearing in my the prevailing weather condition, road condition, maintain a sufficient gap between your vehicle or bike and the traffic in front of you, give yourself enough room and reaction time and maintain your lane.
Tht car has every right to stop.
He may have seen something which you were oblivious to. He may have had a mechanical problem. The possibility is endless.
I encounter bikers during my trips and frankly I love them. I think for them and give them room to pass as soon as I see then in my rear view mirror.
The experienced ones know when a vehicle has seen them and utilize the opportunity to pass in between the narrow spaces available.
The inexperienced ones put themselves in harm's way by driving like okada riders.
Bikes have a longer stopping distance than cars. Keep this at the back of your mind when riding too close to cars.
I wish you all the best.
@buygala, do not stand down. I repeat, do not stand down.
ThatIgboBoy: Good day Gazzuzz and other senior guys here. I use an acura tsx 2008 model I need help. Seems my car is guzzling fuel. I scanned it sometime in June and it showed my my 02 sensor was bad with code P0135. I bought another 02 sensor and changed it. Cleared the error code and since then whenever I scan with my Bluetooth scanner, that error code does not show But on the vehicle instrument cluster, I have been monitoring the average fuel usage for my trips I see high figures of between 27 to 30 L/100km.That got me alarmed. I went to a mech and asked him to scan my car and I got the code P1157. Infact the guy said this ur car go dey drink fuel oo I am confused guys. Yesterday I proceeded to change my plugs and also clean my engine air filter. Still the trip computer is showing me 30 L/100km as instant average fuel usage. Make una help me.
1. How long in miles and minutes is your average trip? 2. Where do you regularly drive from and to? 3.do you leave the engine to idle a lot (e.g warming in the morning, while gisting with a friend etc) 4. Do you drive it like you stole it (racing) or like a grandpa?
Jamal64: Hi there, please what can be the reason why my Benz C class swerves from left to right when I apply brake while on motion with a reasonable speed.
I have done the alignment, changed bushing and also checked the tyres. How can I find a solution to this?
Check your brake calipers and hoses. One of your calipers may be sticking. Could be as a result of corrosion in the caliper, bad o ring seal or a collapsed brake hose.
joungblood: Lexus RX350 2010 vs range rover evoque 2013 which is best? Please i need everyone's opinion, those who have used range rover evoque 2013. I'm currently using lexus RX350 2010 and I love this ride, but recently I have my eyes on range rover evoque 2012_2014, I love that car, because it's super classy, interior beats my lexus. But I want to know if it performs well also, and not just a beautiful nonsense. How is the off road. Because I stay at ota, n it's known for bad roads, so how does the range hold up, because I have no complaints with my lexus. Fuel economy unko? What about maintenance? Is all this better or close to my rx350 2010
The truth is that I'm considering of selling my lexus to get the range rover, So expects please tell me is its something I shouldn't do or just give your input and advice.
My lexus is great and I have no complaints I'm just a curious person who wants to test out this range rover evoque.
What do you think guys
Na here you go come ask us price of engine.
We dey wait.
Go to sooperrescue thread and see the tales of woe there.
That range has one of the most unreliable engine ever made by man.
Piyke: Baba. I met a guy who has a 2006 camry on my YouTube channel. Car has over 800k miles. Transmission solid. Engine has now lost some compression but still works very well.
dicksonadams: Hmmm, and at the mileage My mech recommends something thicker, like 20w50
, interesting
But how do you handle the timing belt flaw 9f the engine, in order to avoid a catastrophic engine damage if it cuts
The timing belt design is not a flaw.
That's the design.
Many engines were designed with and still use timing belt. If your engine is not burning oil in appreciable quantities, there is no point in using a thicker oil which will form sludge in your engine.
The timing belts are meant to be changed every few years or after a certain mileage.
7 years and 100k miles should be normal on original belts and accessories (rollers, tensioners and water pump).
esiri4jesu: Servicing when hot packed up the gear. A more experienced technician had to leave it over night before servicing and no issues. Infact, he said you don't even top the gear oil when it is hot that you do that first thing in the morning before zooming off.
Change your mechanic oo. That's all I have to say.
I use Mobil 1 (30k naira) for my Corolla 2009 recommended. The issue here is that I don't usually drive the car, I only drive it twice a week for a short distance. So at the end of 6months, I normally discover that I only drove about 1500miles, which dosent worth the money paid. I don't know if I should be using Mobil Super of 13k naira
nedekid: Relevant to who naa? Ohh, to think Peter Obi wants to be president because it is his birth right ie his turn, or to get rich, prestige etc? People like Obi are hired to turn around conglomerates, from red to green line. They are paid in millions for their services. In the case of Naija, out of concern, the man volunteers himself and folks myopicly ridicule him. In the history of Nigeria, which ex gov have you seen that refused collecting a dime from the state as pension, cars, houses, staff, healthcare etc? Just name one. Even the two other major contenders, despite their billions still collect pensions and other entitlements till tomorrow. Hate Obi, don't even vote for him, but give the man some respect.
