EducationRe: Kwara CAN: Hijab Use Will Expose Christian Pupils To Terrorist Attacks by 9jaRealist: 10:38am On Feb 27, 2021
Lamasta:
I just hope the wearing of hijab to school will enlarge the economy of kwara state.

We place so much priority on things that will not improve our standard of living
It will - on BOTH accounts!

The more females we can educate and get into the economy, the LARGER our economic base and productivity...
It is not merely scandalous but horribly bad economic policy when more than half of the population (females) are effectively excluded.

Further, the more females we educate the more we “improve our standard of living”...
Educated women take better care of their families because they better understand their health needs (and can even help with homework).

Instead, we will continue to shoot ourselves in the collective foot, because of ephemeral things like wearing hijab! SMH undecided

Muslims should open their own school. Or is it haram too to own a school and have your wards wear whatever they want.
So you want to divide little kids into different schools by religion, and then expect to grow up harmoniously and to collegially work together and interact in the same workplaces and society? How very Stone-Age... sad

There are some things not worth fighting for (or worth compromising), and this should EASILY be one...
Unfortunately, these days one is beginning to see CAN increasingly acting like a trade union or even a political party. sad

Both Islam and Christianity are IMPORTED foreign religions into Nigeria, yet it seems that so many brainwashed Nigerians are more ready to fight and die for these imported religions than the originators and importers of same religions themselves are bothered to.

All these CAN folks and their FUNDAMENTALIST supporters are the same folks who will spend all day/week at the US, UK and Canadian embassies begging for visas, and yet in each of those countries they are running off to Muslim girls are free to wear hijab to school.

Nigeria has bigger issues than little girls wearing the hijab to school. Let’s quit chasing shadows and FOCUS!!!

CAN is right

Hijabs should be banned from public places, especially schools. Only terrorists wear hijabs.
After we ban hijab from public places...
We should also ban the traditional Gele and other headscarves.

We should also ban Babanriga, Sokoto, Iro and Buba...
Heck all traditional clothing because “terrorists” can hide bombs in such clothes. SMH

No, it is not! The Constitution mandates and guarantees SECULARISM!

davit:
Misplaced priority on the part of the Kwara govt.
How is it “misplaced priority” to ensure all girls are able to comfortably attend school?

Ugaboy:
Truely...hijab shouldn't be allowed in school...it a means of identifying a Muslim or Christian
It is not! Christians are just as free to wear head coverings as Muslim students.

Kobicove:
In the first instance why should some pupils in a school be allowed to dress differently from other pupils? undecided
No different from boys wearing pants and girls wearing skirts in the same school. It’s a reasonable accommodation.

HeadShot:
Hijabs are used by terrorists to hide bombs....
And cars are used by terrorists, so we should ban all cars.
Anyway, hijabs are mere headscarves (smaller than the Gele), so unsure why you think it’s a terrorist tool. angry

These boarding schools should all remain closed and completely renovated.

No Governor would ever send his kid to such a school...

BusinessRe: Naira Depreciates To 410/$ At Official Market by 9jaRealist: 9:10am On Feb 27, 2021
>
Nigerians accord way too much attention to exchange rate...
That’s why Sai Bubu was able to fool you by promising 1-to-1 rate. grin

Nigeria’s problem is NOT exchange rate but an UNPRODUCTIVE economy. If the Nigerian economy was PRODUCTIVE, and didn’t have import toothpicks and almost everything else, then a weak currency would actually be a GOOD because it would make locally-produced goods more price-competitive, reducing expensive imports and leading to increased local production - which in turn would lead to more jobs for Nigerians in Nigeria, create more wealth and generate more tax revenues for the government to (if the politicians do not steal it first) invest in infrastructure, education, healthcare and public transportation, among others. Also, a weaker currency would mean that Nigerian-made exports would be cheaper and more price-attractive and would ideally therefore garner greater market share, especially with the coming of AFCTA.

Instead, we are stuck wailing about the increased exchange rate because we produce little to nothing of real value (even petrol that we are blessed with the crude oil to produce it, we spend billions of scarce dollars to import - in fact, it’s the single largest component of our import bill). Therefore, when the local price of US dollars increase (which is basically what the ‘exchange rate’ is), having little or no local products to substitute for consequently more expensive foreign imports, we can only wail and curse the CBN Governor, while other con men remain waiting in the wings for the next elections to come around and fool us with more 1-to-1 exchange rate gibberish. Meanwhile, our artificially propped-up Naira continues to essentially SUBSIDIZE CONSUMPTION instead of encouraging domestic PRODUCTION. SMH

PS: Btw, the closest thing that Nigeria has to a market-determined (and thus colloquially “true”) exchange rate is the so-called Parallel Market (also pejoratively known as the Black Market). It is the only FREE exchange rate market in Nigeria with freely-willing buyers and sellers.

PoliticsRe: Sanwo-Olu: Lagos To Lay 4th Mainland Bridge Foundation Before End Of 2021 by 9jaRealist: 4:13am On Feb 27, 2021
PHAYOL81:
Sorry that was wrong. The rail project as well as the Badagry highway are state projects under the supervision of LAMATA even though there is a point that the Apapa-Oshodi-Iyana Oworo-Ojota road project shared right of way but they are different projects.
What I see here is that unless the rail line is completely ready to use, the highway would not be tarred in order to avoid waste of resources which may result from reconstruction.
The rail itself was conceived by Fashola administration to move on diesel alone but it has since been improved to include facilities for electricity powered trains too after the old coach Fashola bought was scrapped and the old contract revisited which led to the CCECC company coming on board hence the obvious changes we see them make to the previous construction to suit the new locomotives they'd acquired from China.
Of course, fund availability was a factor thus Ambode ignored it entirely but Sanwo Olu has taken it up, approved the needed funds with consideration for the red line too which they hope to deliver by 2022. Note that this time, CCECC has been fully paid according to LAMATA and the LASG. So the onus rests on the construction company to deliver the project under the timeline.
You’re mostly correct.

However, the Badagry Expressway is a federal road that the Lagos State government, during the Fashola administration, got permission to rebuild and expand into a 10-land highway with light rail tracks (just like Ambode got federal government permission to rebuild the airport road, which is also a federal road), up to Okokomaiko, while the federal government would rebuild the remainder up to the Seme border.

Apart from financial (and any other) issues, a significant cause of delay was the almost 3 years it took the NNPC to excavate and relocate its pipelines on the right of way, and the even longer period it took to negotiate and secure agreement with the military to demolish parts of the Ojo Cantonment wall (and/or any other building therein) that encroaches on the light rail’ s right-of-way.

In fact, it wasn’t until the Buhari administration came to office that the Lagos government was finally able to secure agreement to use the Nigeria Railway Corporation’s right-of-way for the Red Line. Meanwhile, while the aforementioned delays were taking it place, the value of the Naira plummeted over 100% against the US dollar. Hopefully, it will smooth sailing from here on out. Eko oni baje!

Where did Osinbajo get such power to give such directives? And some people will say as acting president.

If he had acted with consent of his boss the president, the agencies wouldn't disrespect him.
He acted alone with consulting who delegated such powers to him.

The Vice president is directly infringing on the powers of the president and it is a total disrespect to the office to the president.

Osinbajo is pastor and a Professor of law and so must know the limits of his powers and powers to exercise if delegated to him by the president himself.

The agencies understands better and have the right to Ignore such directives..

If not that the glory of God has departed from him, he should have asked God to certain parts of the constitution to know that he is overstepping his bounds.

Osinbajo is a chameleon who thinks himself a frog.
What NONSENSE are you driveling on about?! shocked
An Acting president by definition ACTS as the de facto president, with all of the power and authority of the president.

So last night he told me, I asked if his wife contributed anything, he said "Monetary" No....that she said she'll bring ppl to cook food and handle things women are meant to handle.

I told my him: Snr bro, make marriage simple. Don't take loans for wedding, don't use all your savings on wedding just to please people. People come to eat, drink and leave you in povery. Manage what you have. If your wife can't help you to think straight, then she ain't wife worthy.
This afternoon, in my presence he called his in-laws and called off the wedding....thank God he has not complete the dowry.

Hope I was right?

Abagworo:
The court ruling is null and void. Royal Palm belongs to Mrs Okorocha whereas Rochas Foundation is a charity organization not a private or personal profit making business.
It’s only an interim order (and so therefore property has not been lost to Rochas and cannot be dissipated by the state)...
Rochas now has the right to go before the court and “show cause” (present evidence) why the order should be vacated and not made final.

gnykelly:
how can there be interim forfeiture when the case have not been investigated to be proceed of crime.

the case can easily be won on technical ground.

the current govnor emotions will ruin the case
The state can get an interim order so that the subject matter in dispute (the properties here) would not be tampered with...
But there’s still a PRESUMPTION OF INNOCENCE, and so if Rochas disputes the allegations, the state then has to proof a case for final forfeiture.
