Ultimately, Nigeria’s condition is the culmination of the varying actions of ALL Nigerians (by commission or omission). > |

CSTRR: .But Buhari already cancelled subsidy. He even made a public broadcast about it.
That's why fuel is selling for 145/litre.
Which subsidy are you talking about again? The one that’s hidden in NNPC accounts as “under-recovery”…. Meaning it sells fuel for UNDER (or less than) the cost of importation. That’s why the NNPC is the ONLY entity currently importing fuel… Instead of the government paying that difference to private importers. > |

Sunnybay7: I'm very sure you know more than the millions of Nigerians who groan in pains whenever pump price is increased, can you compare the daily consumption of fuel to that of diesel? You are shallow and your economics is watery. Those Nigerians groan out of IGNORANCE… Perhaps like you, their knowledge of economics is both shallow and watery. Diesel is used to transport the majority of people and goods/foods around Nigeria… Yet Diesel and Kerosene used by many of the “masses” (as you called them) are NOT subsidized. Conversely, the biggest users of passenger cars (using petrol) are the government and elite… With the government at all levels (federal, state and LG) being the biggest single buyers of passenger cars. Meanwhile, the artificially-fixed pricing of petrol for years deterred domestic refinery investment… While allocating more money to subsidy than to education, health, agriculture and even infrastructure. People leaving the country to go and upgrade their lives.....
Let's wait on the arrival of Dangote Refinery... .who knows what our fate will be as Nigeria was made his birthrite by Buhari Are they getting subsidized fuel in those countries they are running off to “upgrade their lives”? tnerro1: I still maintain that fuel should not be sold the same price in the south as in the north, the fuel comes in by ship from the south and it’s transported to the north, so why is it the same price in the south and north.
The government is subsidizing the northern part of Nigeria at the expense of the southern part of Nigeria.
Let them do real subsidy if the price will not be 10x in the north, thats why they want a railroad to Niger so they can by cheap fuel when Nigerians discover the magomago they are doing with the subsidies. Which one is Northern and Southern Nigeria? Petrol should not cost as much in Lagos (where it lands) as it does in Ibadan… In fact, some would argue that in a deregulated market, fuel should not cost as much in Apapa as it does Ikeja. In fact, in a fully deregulated market, fuel could conceivably be cheaper up North than in parts of the South… Depending on the logistics used by downstream operators (eg, pipelines to the North and trucks in the South). Accordingly, forget all the primordial nonsense about “subsidizing the northern part of Nigeria”… The REALITY is that petrol subsidy benefits a relatively minor group of ALL Nigerians to the detriment of development funds. > |

Sunnybay7: Fuel is used to power generators, pepper grinding machines, car wash steam engines, mix oil paints and many more, these are direct hit on the end users, an increase in pump price is an automatic jump in price. You are accidentally funny. Dude, you are simply tragic if you think all fuel is petrol… Diesel used to power big generators and most machinery are NOT subsidized, as well as kerosene used as household fuel.
Nigeria is a classic case of a population that DESERVES its leaders! SMH> |

Sunnybay7: This people enjoy inflicting hardship on the masses, no form of deep thinking on how to diversify the economy. But when you ask their minions online they will be shouting npower and 10k tradermoni. Nigerians are tragically funny…
Diesel, which is used by transporters and truckers who carry people and food around Nigeria, is selling for N280 and people are moaning about someone saying petrol “should” (NOT will) be selling at N256 without subsidy. How exactly are the so-called “masses” benefiting from petrol subsidy in Nigeria? Even kerosene used by the so-called “masses” is NOT subsidized.
Meanwhile, Nigeria is spending TRILLIONS subsidizing petrol - more than the capital budget for each of education, healthcare, agriculture, and even roads! Literally choosing cheap fuel over better schools, hospitals and public transit systems!
Of course, a large part of that subsidized petrol is being SMUGGLED to neighboring countries for PRIVATE profit. SMH> |

OneNigerianist: These has been my questions If you need to kidnap someone back home, it means such a person is not a terrorist. Osama bin laden was the world's most wanted terrorist. He was declared a terrorist my more than 100 countries. Even US got approval from Pakistan before conducting the operations which killed him.
Unfortunately, the FG has not gotten a single country to agree that KANU is a terrorist. If it is comfirmed he was illegally brought to Nigeria, it will be Nigeria and not Kanu that violated the international law.
This is concerning because each step ever taken by this government against the agitation from the onset appear to have promoted it to the next level. No, they didn’t… The raid soured US-Pakistan relations and cooperation against the Taliban… In fact, Pakistan jailed the Pakistani doctor that helped the US collect Osama’s DNA. > |

Health16: Toyota, a Japanese multinational automotive manufacturer, has snubbed Nigeria, as it opened an assembly plant in Ghana.
The plant, which was established to assembly Toyota Hilux pick-up and other sedans by the Toyota Tsusho Manufacturing Company Limited, is located in the Freezones Enclave in Tema.
President Akufo-Addo of Ghana commissioned the plant yesterday (Tuesday, June 29, 2021), saying the development will help make the acquisition of new vehicles by Ghanaians more affordable as well as enable public sector workers to be able to afford and purchase locally assembled vehicles.
https://newsrand.com/2021/06/30/toyota-snubs-nigeria-opens-assembly-plant-in-ghana/ > Nigerians remind me of guys/ladies who fall hardest for anyone who rejects them…
Honda, Nissan, Ford, Kia, Hyundai, Peugeot, Leyland, Geely, and a bunch of other cars are assembled in Nigeria… We’ve not adequately patronized those ones, but instead we are now in love with Toyota because they chose Ghana. SMH
Meanwhile, a condition for this plant is that Ghana must RESTRICT the importation of used cars? Try imposing the same restriction conditions in Nigeria, and watch the Nigerian middle-class go APESHIT!> |

MrFinbarr: Which investor will invest in a country with so many selfish and corrupt leaders, terrible insecurity, weak and unstable currency and a heated up political space?
Ghana is peaceful with literally the strongest currency in Africa and to top it, they have a president who's educated and working to make his country better. We don't have that in Nigeria.
I hope we don't end up electing another imbe..cile come 2023. Idiots in Government!!! By arbitrarily chopping off three zeros from it… Anyway, a “strong” currency does not equate to economic strength… Eg, Kuwait’s dinar is more 3x the USD, while Japan’s Yen is about 110 to 1US$. Nonetheless, you’re correct about Ghana’s other strengths… Relatively peace and political stability, and a president who understands the MODERN world. > |
