These senators are just thieves.what do they do with this humongous amount that comes to around 170 million Naira every year inclusive of their consolidated salary?Na wa for these idiots that won't make laws to benefit the common man, obviously they re legislating to line their pockets while millions of Nigerians wallow in poverty,it is even more sickening when other miscellaneous amount re taken into account.

I now understand y they ve always resisted any move to look into the books of the National Assembly viz a viz the amount each of them earns.. This democracy isn't just working and yet very very expensive..Who will save this country from these unpatriotic and perfidious idiots before they rape her to death..
Oga stop being bitter . That’s there legitimate earnings . IOC’s also pay there senior and junior members of staff humongous salaries. Does that make them thieves ?

Okay, I don't know people earn that much in First Bank. That means those managers are money
A a friend of mine was an entry level staff (ET) at Zenith and interviewed at first bank after two years . He got an offer of 4.7M P/A ( second leavel first bank staff) . So I suspect entry level first bank staff earn about 3M per annum . People are here spreading false information due to their ability to differentiate between core bank staff and third party contractors outsourced to the bank.

Not true . I joined Zenith as an ET (entry level on a basic of 131k excluding leave , 13 month and bonus) shortly after NYSC and became an EA after 13 months . The fact that most people you know working at Zenith joined peoplesplus as GA doesn’t make true for all. There was a promotion freeze due to the economy for about three years which was lifted late last year . Zenith has its own challenges just as many organisations in areas of career and staff welfare but that doesn’t mean we should mislead the public.

95 percent of bank workers I've met are frustrated with bank job and wish they were working elsewhere.

Aside the money, the monotony and rat race of bank jobs make it one of the most unfulfilling jobs one can have.

But na them starch shirt pass
95% of the people you’ve met in the bank were employed to some mushroom organisation and outsourced to work in the bank. As a corper at a tech startup I was once outsourced to access bank for two weeks and will be wrong for me to claim i’m A staff of access. Bank staff are people who were employed directly by the bank and have a career ladder to climb if they chose to remain in the system.

Sir except the lunch allowance is given to them in cash which I’ve read is about #1,500. My friend works in an NGO (got in after working 20 months in consulting ) . I got him an interview at Dangote through one of my former bosses and when he came back he laughed at me and showed me his one year bank statement . He earns #608k monthly and a leave allowance of #469k, 13th month in November and and a bonus of about #520k this January. Aside from job security I don’t see anything special with CBN’s entry level pay
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Monthly Net Salary Of Federal Government Ministries, departaments, Agencies And P by abnot: 7:06pm On Feb 25, 2018
For a long time everyone seemed to be secretive about CBN's pay but upon finding out I was a bit disappointed (at least for the entry level ). In January they receive a bull payout of about #1.2M and other months they earn #70k monthly and in april they get about #140k. However if you are lucky enough to be sent on trainings and the likes you get to earn something from there. I guess the pay is a lot better at assistant manager level but you if you're looking for money you may be disappointed with CBN's pay

Going through the comments I can see that a lot of people are talking based on the "fear of the unknown factor". I will advise the OP to make the decision based on his/her circumstance. Most people see studying in the west as an escape route probably as a result of some hardship in Nigeria which is why they are making the assumption that you are going to the UK for greener pasture and as a result predicting that you'll return to Nigeria to struggle.

My camry 2014 3.5L XLE cooling system has been somewhat erratic. The refrigerant dries up after a month or there about. Following the third refill, a technician at a Mobil gas station told me the need to replace the evaporator. I proceeded to the Total Service center for a second opinion and was told the same thing (Replace Evaporator as it seems to be leaking). Not satisfied I proceeded to the the Oando service station and told the same thing. I am now convinced that the evaporator needs to be replaced but I'm now worried about where to have the done. As it involves taking out the steering, dashboard , air bags, etc I'm now seeking a capable hand that will be able to do the job without causing other problems / mixing the bolts & nuts. In addition what's the market price of a good Evaporator for camry muscle (xle) ?

I can’t imagine myself joining the Nigeria police force sha. These Hausa people always do things with power as the end goal. Congrats to the boy.
I guess you have something better but man I guess you are aware that joining the NPF as an officer is different from joining as a rank and file ? May be you should know that the first house I visited in banana island ikoyi is owned by a police officer. I have seen wealthy police officers in Nigeria and man at the end of the day a job with the NPF is better than most private sector jobs in Nigeria. (From my observation ).

Atiku is a no no. Atiku is the worst greedy fellow to do business with. He has the sense of selfish monopolist if given the opportunity. He single handed collect the contract for COJA, gave his company the contract to buy around 3000 BMW used and collected and sold it himself( This I know personally). Atiku owns African circle on the Snake Island, with Nigeria Port authority waste management also. This were gotten fraudulently when he was the VP and hijacked so many Nigeria companies, this is one of the reason Baba hated him.
So many of this kids supporting him, do not know him
Oga go and sit down. Should Nigerians remain in their present state under this intolerant leadership. You sound like one of those who believes one should be poor simply because he/she was a public servant. Atiku was wealthy before and after his 8-year tenure and I’ll rather have a businessman boost the economy as president than have a leader who kills businesses and approves policies that contracts the economy further.

Where can i get authentic OEM oil filter for camry 2007-2011 3.5L engine. After servicing my car in march i noticed that each time i start the car when engine is cold, the engine makes a grinding noise for 1-3 seconds. Two weekends ago I changed my oil from mobil 1 5w-30 to toyota oil 5w-30 and the sound has since stopped. I dont know if the problem was with the engine oil or oil filter.

I understand your comment and share same sentiments. I don't just understand why you chose to be insultive at the end. My younger brother is also going to Covenant to do Archi this year. He started from KHS(Living faith primary school),then to their secondary school, faith academy, right now my father wants to send him to CU , so am not against the school. The conducive environment and every thing is superb.
As for network, I also graduated from an elite secondary school in Kaduna ( I would have love to mention the name but it will sound immodest) and I understand the importance of graduating from such schools. You get exposed to information which students from other schools are not exposed too. You meet people whose parents command influence in the state.......This could serve as doorway to big opportunities for you I know.
I don't seem to understand the necessity of your last paragraph, is it that you have problems comprehending what I wrote earlier or you just want to hit me?........ I never condemned CU, did I? Haa!

Mr live right, the OP actually asked for people's opinion on what an ideal salary is for a married man and he didn't call you out to analyze what living well means. To even think no one can boast of living well in this country
If a man who is prudent feels 150k is enough to take care of his family, then why can't you swallow your opinion of 150k not being enough because you are not prudent?
Are you living well?
Obviously, No! but you think you are .......
Please don't get me angry
Living well is relative. What you may consider as prudent living may be luxury or poverty to me. Lot's of people are living well in Nigeria Sir. Don't make the assumption that no one is living well. Anybody that has access to basic infrastructure and services is living well. If the transport system is bad one can complement it with a landcruiser and get immune from most of the rough roads. In Milverton some people tend to even forget that nigeria is experiencing challenges in the area of electricity.

My opinion on 150k a month was based on my knowledge of the cost of housing, tuition fees, healthcare and other neccesities in Lagos.

To me it's ok to pay close to a million to study Medicine,Law,Architecture and all those professional courses.
But you pay 857k to study biology and then you finish to come and compete for job with some one who payed 45k a year in uni jos. it's not fair! Not as if you know something that he doesn't, and not as if you are more guaranteed of job than he is........We will all head to same labour market, compete for same jobs, bid for same contracts, suffer from same governments terrible policies.
Some people won't even end up practising what they studied.......ahhh........Painful o.
I don't know about CU but generally elite schools are more valuable in areas of networking/contact building than actual theory/studies. I attended an elite secondary school and up till date I can attest to how valuable those contacts could be. Recently one of our former schoolmates was seeking sponsorship/funding for a pet project he had. He relied on his secondary school contacts and within the first three weeks he had meetings with the emir of kan , Gov. Ambode, Atiku, a former Insp Gen. of police, Mutallab senior... He is trying to meet with more people while recording tremendous successes with some of the contacts he has made. He made these contacts through children/nieces of these people.

One of the benefits of elite schools. Always focus on the possible positives of any decision one makes rather than condemn everything that you perceive to be against your belief.

I'm not sure how one can survive on 150K in abuja or Lagos. In 2015 I was making 202K a month (Not paying rent) and I was more buoyant. I use to go out lounging or clubbing every friday evening, I was using cabs everywhere I went to, I had a gym membership, DSTV was always active , i flew to abuja and accra very frequently for weekends and I never ran short of fuel on my GEN.

Today with that same amount (I now own a car also) I no longer find it affordable to maintain my gym membership, my dstv subscription is off/on, I only buy fuel for my car and I find it difficult to buy flight tickets for mere leisure sake.

Bottom line, the naira has lost its value by more than 30% over the last two years.

Mr. 150k is enough for a man with his wife and a kid, are you sure you are living well ? Because many people in nigeria dont seem to know the meaning of living well due to their long exposure to hardship and sufferings.

Willie2015:
Nigerian universities can be like Havard if the elites/leaders get their focus right. We are not poor but our leaders have failed to harness our resources to reach our full potentials due to their greed. That,s the problem!

History teaches us that Obafemi Awolowo performed wonders (Built a university, cocoa house, gave free education to all & sundry etc)just from the proceed of cocoa production and processing. Nigerians should be living in El Dorado by now if our leaders are not greedy and myopic

History teaches us that there has been no real societal change without element of revolution & violence. You will wonder how UI VC that attended the convocation of his son in US will come back a week after and shut down a citadel of learning. I can bet that he will not shut down that school if his son and children of Atiku, Buhari, Babangida, etc are students of U.I.

Funding of university is a function and ability of our leaders to put our resources to full use. Until the masses unite and stand up to fight every injustice from the elites with force and violence, we will continue to suffer in silence and at the same time create hydra headed problems for future generations to come.
My brother while I agree with you on the grounds that the government can do more I still believe that Nigeria is a poor country today when compared with countries in the west . With good intentions there is still a limit to what you can do with scarce resources. First of all we aren't a nation that produces what we utilise (e.g. Furniture , electronics , food , cars and other utensils) . Thus we import all these . Also take into consideration that numerous reports have estimated that 90% of our forex revenue comes from crude sale which accounts for the major devaluation of the naira following the slump of crude oil prices . During the best of times Nigerian government earned roughly $60 billion a year from crude . That's probably less than what the UK government spends on defence in one year .

In 2014 the uk government spent £98 billion on education alone yet they are a country of 55 million people with about 100 universities . A report I read last year estimated that British universities generate £6billion yearly from international student fees . That of USA is a lot higher . So how can you expect same quality of education experienced in the west in Nigeria when we aren't doing what they are doing ?. Also what quality of teachers dominate our universities . I know a lot bout our university and Health system because my dad worked for many years in both sectors as a full professor in a federal thus debating on these issues isn't something new to me.
Look at a pie view of uk government's 2014 spending I've attached .

Look at the lifestyle of an average Nigerian. Buying brand new vehicles is a luxury many Nigerians can't afford.

Willie2015:
We still have a long way to go in Nigeria if we still have folks reasoning this way.

There is no big deal in studying in the UK if our leaders create an environment for our universities to rank at par with these foreign universities in terms of quality. If OAU, Unilag and UI ranking is same as Havard and Cambridge in terms of quality and ranking, no one will give a damn about someone going to UK to study.

We need a revolution, that is the only way forward but I dont think this generation is ready for this!

“Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable."
Nigerian universities will not be like Harvard or any of the universities you've mentioned simply because we are a poor country at the moment whether we accept it or not. I got convinced during my first exposure to western education. The UK/US university system gets funding from their government as well as well-meaning donors .In the UK the government allocates a fixed number of slots for its citizens on each program a university offers. For each of these slots the government allocates about GBP9,000 while the student who is able to get admitted pays about GBP3,000 . Thus the university gets a fee of approximately GBP12,000 on each student aside from research grants, fees from international students and other source of funding. I looked at the university of glasgow budget for 2014 and its was around the region of GBP500M . More than the budget of an entire state in Nigeria. Our universities are poorly funded and as such cannot compete with universities in the first world.

A revolution will not bring UI and HArvard at par. Nigerians need to focus/tackle the root cause of our problems and rather than allowing emotion take control of our reasoning.

Sai baba Buhari of anti-corruption fame.
I am not consoling myself. And just to let you know I earned a BS in computer science from AU Washington DC as well as MSc. in Computer science from Edinburgh university in scotland(UK). I dont mean to be arrogant but my parents sponsored my education without stealing any money even though I enrolled into college two years after my dad retired as a full professor in the medical field at a public university here in Nigeria. If you want the good things in life work for it instead of bringing others down.
A visa to UK or any country in the world means nothing as I've held countless short-term and long term UK C-visit visas as well as two visas under the point based system.
I'm here on nairaland to learn from others and not to put anyone down. Making the kind of comments you are making adds no value or takes anything away from me. Nairaland helped me with information when I was preparing for SAT as far back as 2007 among others.
