You don dey misyarn lately Acidosis
In Igbo culture,if a woman birth kids for you and you haven't paid her dowry those kids belongs to her father.

And if she marries another man who paid her dowry, the kids belongs to her new husband.

Stop trying to sound enlightened about cultures n tradition.
Stop quoting Igbo culture. Not everyone here lives in Anambra or Owerri. Marriage or no marriage, if you run away with my kids, I will serve you court papers from Lagos state where you would be asked to prove the paternity with DNA results. As for the new man, he should get ready to be arrested because that's clearly a case of kidnapping/theft.

The only issue here is power play. I like to believe the lady left him for a powerful/rich politician.

Did you really pay the bride price/dowry? Or na Abuja marriage you did?
There is no such thing as dowry in statutory marriage.

Great comments!

Op, except if you didn't pay dowry on your first marriage in an Igbo culture, no one can take your kids and change their names, no one!
There is nothing like Igbo culture in this matter. Whether there's a dowry or not, when he is ready to have his children, he will get them.

DNA, not dowry or Igbo culture, is the only way to prove paternity.

I've been through a lot to agree with the 'wicked' part. I know what I've seen, even while pregnant with my only child, I've been acting all calm and submissive because of peace, but he's not changing.
Truth is, I tried my hands in about 3 businesses and they all failed, with me losing money that hubby refused to give. It was friends that gave money to me.
But when I was working, he was always so calm enough to collect from me, now that situation has turned, I became trash to him.
Where he's working presently, it was my slot from a friend that I gave to him, because they didn't require female workers then, only male. And I gave that slot to him. He too was jobless before, so he understands what I'm going through. Be patient till January, he said no, and left the house.
I completely understand your plight. In fact, you don't need to explain anything else for me to conclude that he's indeed wicked and needs to change. I can never understand how a man would walk out of his home, his wife, and their only child just because his wife is temporarily out of a job in a country where the majority are either jobless or grossly underpaid.

This is the best time to work on fixing your marriage. Perhaps you could find someone to talk some sense into him. A job can come later, once he's in a better place mentally and is sensible enough to be responsible.

What if the man is drained financially?you re practically trying to break this woman's already shaken home.

The husband has rights to complain, he's human for God sake and cannot do pass his self.

Oga tell the lady to go get a job kawai,no sugar coating the bitter truth.

You Don't know how long the husband has bn telling her to get a job and help easing the burden.

The truth's the man is seeing someone else.
The lady should try get a job and mind her she deals with her husband shikina.
No, I won't do that. A job cannot fix a wicked man.
FamilyRe: He Walked Out On Me by Acidosis(m): 9:03am On Dec 04, 2023
He's a wicked human being. As long as you help out with chores, he has no right whatsoever to complain.

Did you beg him to marry you? I bet he wore agbada on his wedding day, flexing muscle like one big man.

You are his responsibility. Continue to emphasise that. Never give him the impression that you've done something wrong. However, it's is very very okay to acknowledge his efforts so long as he acknowledges your efforts at the home front (cooking, laundry, etc.).

Jokes. So when you kill a live chicken, do you consume everything in a single meal?

I hope these "many people" also drink fresh water from the borehole or stream as opposed to frozen water (cold bottle water, pure water, etc.)?

Are u aware there are poultry farmers that will feel like they hit a jackpot for selling that at #6500 now?
I have a cousin who owns a very large poultry, he begged people to buy his poultry products for #3,500 just two months ago, people who bought it from him were the abokis that sells chicken by the roadside, he had to agree to keep some of the chicken for one more week to help them clear it out.
Nigerians always act like they're smart but we are actually too ignorant and sometimes, we act like we are dum.b.

A kilo (1kg) of frozen Chicken cost only N1,800-N2,000. Yet they'll carry their 10k to buy one yeye bonyy chicken of 2kg. In fact, no average Nigerian-fed chicken weighs more than 2.5kg. None. Why they carry their 10k and even 15k to buy a so called live chicken because of Christmas is honestly beyond my comprehension.

Why pay more for more stress, more bones and feathers to contend with ? Dum.b. Those selling frozen chicken at cheaper rates despite the high cost of fuel/generator are not dum..b.

angelfrost is right "you shamefully and cowardly despise your true identity out of fear of your own fellow citizens??!"

Why should Ayoola be more likely to get a job in Igboland than Chinedu, the only way that happens is if the owner of the company
in igboland is Yoruba..

It is not the fault of Yorubas and Igbos that they have more successful people who own companies than your own people.

In case you have not taken notice. Business Owners all over the world mainly hire people from their tribe or people they share the same ethnicity with.. so Ayoola will always get job ahead of Chinedu as long as the company is owned by a Yoruba person or the government agency is in the SW.

some years ago I was going through in:st:a:gr:am pics of companies and I noticed most of the employees were whyte and if there was a person or people with melanin skin then that person would be an Indian not African American or even African.

so I came to a very important conclusion that changed my perspective and that is "the more companies people of certain ethnicities own the more successful people that ethnicity will have." because most of the employees will have the same ethnicity as the owner because its a way of empowering your own people.

it is only in Africa and among black people that tribes with small populations are under-developed while outside Africa the european tribes with small populations are living comfortable and developed life.

Stop complaining.
You are already running tribal as usual. Who told you I'm not from one of the major tribes I described? Who are my "own people?" Set awon radical racists.

I'm not complaining o. I'm only beating mentally d.eranged ronu bandits at their own game.

My name is Jonathan Goodluck. Oya do your worst and insult my tribe using your imagination. cheesy I love it when I leave ronu bandits cracking their coconut heads, trying to figure my tribe. grin

The new trend has nothing to do with religion though it is more prevalent among the South South people

a lot of new generation Nigerian Dads want their children to bear their name as Surname, so if the new dad's name is Okoro Michael, once Micheal has a child that bears Jennifer, he will want his new child to bear Michael Jennifer instead of continuing with the grandfather's name

In a few years to come more of those type of names will be more prevalent in Nigeria nationwide!
It's a good move. A great way to protect innocent children from ronu bandits.

This is pathetic!

Coming from a man that has never been to his village in 30 years. You love identity so much but you have spent a better part of your life making moves to run away to the UK. Identity fire your mouth there.
