Bluntemperor: Thank you bro,for you made some brilliant inputs! The two major recommendations I'm making is for - i-Govt to fix basic Amenities in Nigeria! • do you know that if we have Constant lights/ 365- Days ( both day and night),do you know we would have solved 60% of Nigeria Problems because many things rotates around availablity of Power/ Lights! e g in Japan,12-yrs Old- assembled those Laptops into their cartons for Exports.Does that surprised you? ii• Do you also agree that ,in initial Production of some technogies/ Products, govt Must provide a take - Up - Funds,to allow many Companies to grow, including Tax Exemptions! Yes, I completely agree with your views. For us to produce, we definitely need some basic amenities like road network, constant electricity, funding and grants, and tax exemptions. |

Bluntemperor: No,not true- that 'they are produced where Poor People are'! -In Germany- Mercedes Benz are equally used as taxis, same in other Countries, where those items are produced! •The main reason why the Phones are of high and heavy Prices are: 1. We don't produce anything like this Phones nor its accessories in Nigeria. 2.The Phones have dry - cells and elements and we don't even have Power for 24/7 to - designs, practicalised the theories we have read, not even by ways of Local Contents! 3.Since we imports almost all the Phones into our Country, then everyone ( both Importers- are enjoying FOREX,while the Consumers)/ too are enjoying the Services, albert unknowly- since we love luxury things! • For Nigeria to move,we must insists to provide basic amenities like 24/7- Lights ( both day and night)! -Those boys repairing those Phones can also begin to Produce them- if our Govt can Support with a Start- Up Firms on Phone- Productions Locally- but govt must be ready to bear the initial Cost .i e low Cost, even at a loss for first few years! -Can the present DISCOS give such services - NO! Because they have Corrupt Officials - whose mentality is skewed! The people in NEPA/ Discos even believe they are helping us/ Nigerians to provide lights. e.g I was in one of their Offices to complain a yr ago and the Officer said ' Sir, don't disturb us,as you can see,we too uses Generators to power our own Offices' Such organisations can't give Lights to Nigeria because they have Mental Attitudes that MUST be totally changed,as they will see their services as endemic to the Nation! Insightful but I don't completely agree with your position on the matter. The solution to our problem is beyond funding local phone guys to go into manufacturing. Like every other similar attempt, it will fail from inception. We have to first address the cultural problem of lusting over foreign-made products. To fix this, the government needs to stop preaching and start acting. A NASS or presidency that loves Toyota and Benz more than life can't get any result by merely funding Innoson. Like say we no get sense. Nigeria is probably one of the few countries where an Itel and Tecno ambassador will be using iPhone and Samsung. These people think that the buyers are f00.ls or they probably do not understand the psychology of marketing. A company like Tecno abi Transssion has identified and positioned its brand as a pro-Nigerian and a pan-African brand to a meaningful extent.. The question we should be asking is why the Nigerian government has failed to mandate or help this company and the likes of iTel, Nexus, etc. set up huge manufacturing plants in Nigeria. All they (politicians) want to do is collect monthly IGR from Carlcare centres to loot and buy more iPhones for their girlfriends. Tecno has invested so much in the country to remain an importer of Chinese chips. The average Nigerian will always follow the lead of the elites (e.g. the politicians). Politicians and their children started japa; they are the same reasons some Nigerians abandoned public schools. Whenever politicians set a trend (including corruption), the masses follow. They're also behind terrorism and banditry. |

Bossman: Also considering the US has over 300 million people, and all those countries above the US in the list, put together do not even reach 300 million. For sure the US has the most number of Iphone users. The level of Iphone craze in a poor country like Nigeria, with a very low purchasing power, is beyond me though. Even though majority are second hand devices.
Unfortunately, with very minimal exports and lack of industries that will attract investors (NO interest in the Naira), Nigeria has little control over the Naira slide against the dollar and other foreign currencies. You're right about the population and the level of iphone crase in Nigeria. We saw the same trend in the days of blackberry. This trend has caused many to live above their means. |

nairalanda1: True to some extent, but even then, phones are expensive.
My current phone cost me 33000 in 2019. Minimum wage was less than 20000 then.
Phones are high tech equipment with a lot of programmes, etc. All that adds up. Like for example, one of my former phones had a game that back in 1993 would have required a TV set, and a large boxlike controller with 2 large joysticks to play. The cost of minitaurising the tech needed to play the same game on a hand held device...yeah, it adds up. You're right. My post is based on emerging trends in Nigeria right now. Exchange rate has rendered more people poorer. I bought an electronic device in July this year for N275k. I visited the brand's page this morning to check the new price and I saw N435k. Same device, same brand, same website. |

Roboto11: Poor people cannot afford the latest phones whether in US or UK. True. Do you now agree that Nigerians are poor? Check the share of iPhone users by country. Nigeria isn't even in top 50 as they don't count fairly used and stolen hacked iPhones from computer village.. Majority can't afford a brand new iPhone 13 or 14. Statistics don't lie.

They try to justify rubbish ,when sensible persons are discussing on this platform.. Very anyhow set of people.. I don't blame you. When your mates were in school learning the acts of comprehension and verbal reasoning, you were busy stealing meat and fish from your mama's pot. You're all grown now with absolutely nothing to show, not even commonsense. Go back and read that statement like an educated individual, read it aloud 5 times, and give yourself a heavy knock on your coconut head. Maybe the poverty in your lineage was provoked by a generational curse, but the poverty (poor people) in that post can certainly be attributed to the failure of the government. |

Roboto11: Phones aren't expensive?
Yes. These phones are produced in countries where poor people can afford a basic iPhone through a one-month hustle. In Nigeria, you will need to sacrifice your one year salary for the same phone. |

Athena6: I was actually given this advice months ago when the dollar was 950 or so but my thought process was that the dollar might come down and I will lose money 😔 even now, I made the calculations
If I use 4M to buy dollar, that will be 3200 dollars and if dollar increases, say 2000 by this year ending or so, I would make an extra 2.4M but if dollar decreases I will lose a lot of money.
Nigeria is a very weird place, the dollar market is so unpredictable. I am still thinking of it sha You must be ready to lose money to make "sporadic" money. It's okay to play safe though and live a decent life but you see this wealth thing, you will have to forget it if you're not willing to take moderate to high risks. |

Yes , Nigeria is bad but if you are millionaire, you go enjoy the country die.... You are funny. A tiny office space in places like Ikeja in Lagos state cost over a million naira annually (excluding service charges, and agency and agreement fees). Remove that amount from the "almighty" #5m. |

I like how you're able to say exactly how you feel without letting anyone invalidate your experiences with the usual "when are you coming back" rhetorics.
The truth of the matter is that you're not alone. A client and a friend was still telling me just yesterday how he regrets entering the country through study route as opposed to work. With limited work hours and hefty bills to be paid, one can only imagine what he - and others in his shoes - are going through.
Seeing that you've only been in the country for a month, I'm very positive that things will get better. This stage is probably the most difficult you'll go through; your endurance level will be very very necessary. |

Longer throat may not be the right word but it's actually wrong to fall in love with a yahoo boy, a cultist, a terrorist, a ritualist, and anyone else involved in one crime or the other. In a damaged and immoral society, everyone is an endangered specie but some are prone to more dangers, e.g. girlfriends/wives of cultists, yahoo boys, and terrorists. Ignorance is also not an excuse. |

If you're interested in dating, go ahead and date without all these marriage talks. That guy may not be ready for marriage until 4-5 years later. Even if you decide not to pursue a relationship with him, finding a serious man willing to marry you within 1 or 2 years might still be a challenge. The decision is yours to make sha.
And you have to stop worrying about who wasted your time. Every serious relationship (not flings) that does not lead to marriage is a waste. No need worrying over who wasted this or that. You wasted people's time too by not marrying them. |

Poverty, low purchasing power, and a weak currency are the reasons why Nigerians have shifted their preference from products made in the U.S., UK, and Italy to Chinese products. However, even products from China's Alibaba are no longer affordable for the common man. |
