With my vast experience in tokunbo automobile VW products are not advisable to buy in tokunbo.
When i stumbled on the thread, as i saw VW, i said to my self, 'no wonder'.

I have said before on this forum, german cars are good but you cant manage them. They easily break down for something so little.

Anyways, my 2003 accord bought naija used was better than the 3 tokumbo vehicles i bought in my life. Infact, it was the first time i bought a car and change was left to upgrade the car. Other times, the car certainly goes beyond budget.

Both my parents want to change cars. I plan to save alot by going the Naija used way.

My friend wasnt so lucky with his 08 accord but it wasnt all bad as the car is back to shape after he bought the engine. I know we didnt make our homework well and my friend wasnt all patient. Naija used needs alot of patience. Unfamiliar cars should be a no go area for Naija used purchase.
Car Talk › Re: Eleven Crazy Traffic Laws From Around The World by adanny01(m): 3:06pm On Apr 09, 2016
In Nigeria, traffic law enforcement is the best since 7 agencies are found on the highway.

1. You will meet the military before you enter or exit most cities, they will check your boot, underneath and inside the car then ask you random questions. They may ask you 'oga, anything for your boy?

2. You will meet FRSC 50 metres after, they will ask to see your drivers license, then your insurance, road worthiness certificate, proof of ownership, vehicle license, reflective triangle, fire extinguisher, spare tire, tires, parking lights, brake lights, head lights, rear view mirrors. There is a very long list of fines that they will certainly fine you for one. You may negotiate a percentage settlement but beware, they they may charge you a fine for bribery attempt.

3. The police, police bomb squad or Anti robbery squad are 3 types of police you will meet. You may meet all 3 at 100m intervals of each other. They will check your DL, VL, road worthiness cert, proof of ownership and cross reference the vehicle's VIN no and engine no to the documents. Be sure to provide some change for tip. These people dont understand 'abeg laguage' na 'roger laguage' them know. So before you start your trip off, make sure you plan for roger..

4. Highway patrol police which are a little further and will do as in 3. These ones are just looking for an excuse to demand roger.

5. You will meet NDLEA who will search your car for hard and fake drugs. This affects mostly commercial cars, trucks and buses.

6. You will meet the VIO which will repeat item 2 without the spare tire, tire, fire extiguisher. Beware of these men as they will try to convince you all your papers are fake. They will encourage you to buy from them there and then without the option of fine. They will certainly give you the same fakes that the caught you for. Their sister officials in others states will tell you the same story over again.

7. The most notorious if you drive a truck or company vehicle. I dont know what they are officially called but i know they have to do with the local governments and tax. Depending on the state and depending on who you are, they could break your windscreen and still fine you up to 100k for a trash bucket, sticker and some papers i really dont know what for. They will almost certainly impound your car. They are sometimes illiterates so cannot differenciate a government MDA to a private company. If your car is company branded, beware! Once i saw them stop an NIPP car and another time a WHO, World bank and red cross cars.

Finally, for those who are taxi drivers, the fear of NURTW is the begining of wisdom, na there real agbero dey.

I dont know whats wrong with Nissan? A friend has this car V6 and is about to change the second engine. I was shocked to see a clean car but he shocked me that he is about to change the engine a record 2nd time in a year. The car smokes and makes an engine noise.

The car is a comfortable ride with very sharp engine and gear responce but when it fails, it fails hands down.
Car Talk › Re: Does A Car Consume More Fuel When The AC Is On HI Than On LO by adanny01(m): 1:27pm On Apr 09, 2016
Siena:
With the older magnetic clutch-type compressor (fixed displacement) once the clutch is engaged, the engine will use a bit more fuel. Altering the temperature setting will NOT increase fuel consumption, however altering the blower speed will affect fuel consumption marginally, due to more voltage being drawn, and therefore more load on the engine via the crank-driven alternator.

With the later clutchless-type compressor (variable displacement) fuel consumption is proportional to temperature setting. This is because it has the pistons mounted on a swash plate. Altering the temperature alters the angle of the swash plate from shallow to steep, with the steepest angle giving more piston swept volume, and therefore more load on the engine. Altering the blower speed will have a marginal effect on fuel consumption as in the older system.
You said even more than i know with regards to the clutchless type of compressor. I just want to add a little info with regards to the magnetic clutch.

I agree that temp setting will not increase fuel consumption on the magnetic clutch system. However, the blower speed will increase fuel consumption due to voltage draw like you said plus magnetic clutch cycling operation which will engage longer with higher blower setting. A blower with 4 speed setting will cause the clutch to stay engage longer with higher blower speed, say the clutch engages for 30sec ON then OFF for 30secs on blower setting 1. The clutch will engage for say 1min and disengage for 20s on blower setting 2. For 3, it may engage 2mins and off 10s. For 4 or HI blower setting, clutch may cycle ON for 5mins and OFF 10secs.

Effectively, the compressor works longer on hi blower than on lo blower setting, taking more fuel in the process. Some cars hav MAX A/C which stops the clutch from cycling on or off. Other cars have interior temp sensors that initial stops the clutch from cycling until a required low temp is reach then the clutch starts cycling. These scenerios would definitely take more fuel.

Here's another twist to it (except you believe some people are not prone to error in life). Maverrick took a loan from the bank to build a house. And he contacted his old friend, Brabus to build the house. And you are the manager of the bank. Maverrick's loan is meant to build a house but he couldn't got what he bargained for from Brabus.

Now, as the bank manager, here's you word to Maverrick:

Now, let's consider the plight of Maverrick in this case. He was been haunted by the bank manager for an unintentional offense and at the same time couldn't recover the fund from Brabus. Worse still, he's been called names for falling victim.
Wouldn't it be better if the bank manager work with him to recover some of the lost fund. You may believe there's truly no need for that.

Anyway, do you really think I'll pay Maverrick in 10k installment. Let's see what happens by September.
Pls get my point, your predicament to my understanding is not because you are stuck in the middle but because you refuse to cooperate, accept fault or offer a workable solution. On top of it you throw attitude into the matter. The latest is
Anyway, do you really think I'll pay Maverrick in 10k installment. Let's see what happens by September.
Its not the bank manager's responsibilty to chase Mavericks contractor. It is Brabus the contractor who either has to be really diplomatic with Maverick or make sure he finishes the house as agreed or make refund. It is you who signed the contract and it is you who is liable. Businesses fail but you dont let your client bear the brunt, it is you who failed not your client so he deserves a refund.

Visit a bar, if they give you a flat beer, you are entitled to a replacement, period. There bar can go settle with the supplier. It is not the bar tenders fault just like you, but he bears the immediate loss. He can go and redeem his loss from his supplier.

Besides, since Maverick took a loan and gave you which you agreed to build the entire house, you have no excuse thats why contracts are binding. Maverick is responsible for his loan and its not your business so the bank cant come to you.

Baba, 10m for carcass or finished duplex?

____
Doing calculations... If 5 unit of 2 bedroom flats on 3 floor cost N10m, how much will a 4 bedroom duplex cost?

5 unit of 2 bedroom flat = 10 rooms, 5 kitchen, 4 Sitting Room, 15 bath/toilet, 2 staircases, 5 balconies, 3 floor, footprint = 220sqm

4 bedroom duplex = 4 rooms + bonus guest room, 1 sitting room, 5 toilet, 1 kitchen, 1 staircase, 2 balconies, 1 ante room, 2 floor, footprint = 150sqm

If you don't ask for more than agreed (such as changing terms of agreement after moving to site, or requesting completion earlier than schedule, or starting 2 projects when there's barely fund to complete one), the carcass is doable.

A visit to our showroom will show you some work done within that price range.

Pics of N10m carcass done by NextHome.

1. 7 bedroom duplex on 400sqm
2. Massive Chateau on 1 acre.

You can request for detailed breakdown estimate of any. We will furnish you as presented to the client.
Does it really matter, when a client gives you money, am sure there is an agreement of what he gets as value of it. If you fail, you renegotiate and pay back what you are supposed to. Thats the point. I dont need all the break down since i am in the field, same as you but bigger as in BEME.

We are talking of value here. The value of the carcass above to a builder and to the client differs. The difference is the profit. However, since the contract involves you delivering a non existing carcass. You have to be sure that your value plus a reasonable profit margin say 10-20% is equal to the clients value. If its not equal, you will have a serious problem such as you have at hand.

The value of 400k to Maverick is orginal building permit but to you as the contractor it wasnt, hence the problem. Learn to give value for money as agreed or refund when you fail. If you cant refund show serious commitment and regret.

Does that make me a thief also ?
If Maverick took this case to the police, these would have probably happened:
1. Brabus gets arrested and spend time in jail
2. Brabus has to post bail
3. Brabus will need a lawyer and pay for services
4. Brabus will lose his case
5. Brabus will pay the 400 through the court and pay for Maverick's lawyer.

All this will cost Brabus much more than settlement out of court. You would probably call Maverick a wicked man.

But no, Maverick has accepted 300k, 50k upfront and balance 10k every week for 25 wks spanning more than 6months. It shows that Maverick actually wants Brabus to own up and be upright. This whole issue am sure is not about the money, but about who Brabus is.

Dont you think Maverick has been too kind to get the kind of things you have been saying about him.

What if the thief actually shows up to your neighbours house every day and you keep ignoring. Its not rocket science to suspect you are in on it. A Doctor may get patients everyday claiming to feel like their hearts will fail, yet he has to test them before sending them home with clean bill of health. You have to rule out the chances.

If the thief is accused wrongly and you ignore, who stands for the thief. Will you allow him get jungle justice saying its not your business?

A million thanks for your input. You can't have it your way all the time. These bullies always try to stifle any voice that is not singing the same chorus as theirs. We need to shift the narrative from "he said, she said" to "you all should leave this place". From pages to pages, it was proofs upon proofs that will serve no purpose here, we can only observe and suggest, which was done way back. Truth be told, we gave them a lot of time to use this platform to deal with this issue which amounted to little progress of negotiating part payment. They all kept mute and never informed the house so we can at least follow up to see to an amicable end. What happened next? when one party failed to meet to up to the agreed settlement plan, they rushed back to this thread to continually derail it. This is grossly unfair.

I can notice a lot of progress today. You can see today, that we are no longer on another epistle of brabus this or maverick that. I knew they will call me names but I am hopeful that they will get my message in the long run, no one is born stupid. I refuse to be sensitive to maverick's plight when I discovered he is not doing same to me and others following this thread. You are derailing this thread, simple! You don't have that right to act recklessly here because you are having issues with your ex. builder. For how long are we going to be patient with you guys to iron things out? This is not the right junction to seek remuneration. Respect others, we can't be stuck here for more than 100 pages about a 400k saga. Presently, I don't care how you settle your case. They can continually embark on this journey of redundancy with the programmed post of "Brabus is a fraudster" , we will also scale that soon. Once again, thank you very much for your response.
Its not you guys that need to settle, it has been settled before now. It is Brabus who needs to iron it out by paying. 250k will settle everything. Ask Brabus to pay or help him so that sanity will return to the thread.

When your neighbour shouts, 'thief, thief', you dont rely, 'shut up, i my kids are sleeping'. You go out and assist in catching the thief, else he visits you tomorrow.

Even our Buhari was receiving about N25 million monthly as his entitlement as a former head of state
Please think well before posting.

No elected executive or legislator draws pension. Thats because it is illegal to draw pension and recieve salary at the same time from the same government. Only the President and Vice are entiled to pension because at their level, you dont expect an ex president to seek election as govern or Senator who draws salary. A former governor as in saraki should not earn pension then salary as a Senator under the cofers of Nigerian government whether LG, state or federal. Ordinarily, its a fraud to draw pension and salary at the same time from same government. Its the same reason why all political office holders cannot earn pension so they collect severance which is like pension of some years paid upfront. Saraki collected severance and now pension. Its absolutely wrong. They can collect the cars the house and medicals periodically but not pension. Pension is for civil servants only. Pension is for civil servants and severance for public servants. Civil servants collect graduity which is a percentage of the pension given upfront.

My father is a retiree civil servant and recieves pension from the state government. Its against the law for federal government to employ him because his 35yrs counts whether lg, state or federal and that bars him from salary as a civil servant.

Another example, my wife is a civil servant with the state and is qualified for pension if she resigns now. If she gets a federal civil service appointment earning salary without stopping her pension in the state, its a crime.

Public service is affected too thats why they cant collect pension at all. So they are only given pension for a period calculated and paid upfront. Infact, it is illegal to draw 2 salaries when 1 of them is with the government. It is only allowed for a retired civil servant to earn salary but when it is not permanent nor pensionable.

What saraki has done is a new crime on its own.

A novice indeed. What has the instrument cluster got to do with it?
When you race, there are only 2 things that matter, speedometer and time. Engine size does not matter.

A 2.0 I4 engine with a supercharger could be faster than a 3.0V6 naturally aspirated engine. The V6 would be bigger in size but shocking the 2.0 could have better time.

Weight is another factor. For example
2003 M.Benz C240 has 2.6L V6 168hp engine with curb weight of 3,310lbs
2003 Honda Accord 2.4L I4 160hp engine with curb weight of 2,989lbs.

Which do you think will be faster? That Benz can not near me. One got embarassed by me 2 wks ago, he thought being a Benz made him faster than an ordinary accord.

When you go up to the C320 3.2L V6 215hp with the Accord 3.0L V6 240hp, where will the benz be?

the speedo isnt a yardstick to measure the speed a car can max out. Toyota uses 3 different engines in that camry namely, 2az-fe, 2az-fxe (hybrid), and 2gr-fe with 3 different gearbox a M/T, 5sp auto and 6sp auto respectively. In order to cut cost of production, they use a common speedo.

Your 4 cylinder cant accelerate faster and cant achieve a higher max speed than a 6cylinder or even a hybrid camry.
This is all theory, in practical, this will change as we experience bad roads. It will now depend on the driver.

Travelling from Abuja to Gombe through Jos, the commonly used car is Opel Vectra 1.8-2.0L. It will give your V6 a run of your life. Its not because they are faster but they know the road better than you and will almost never let off gas maintaining 140-160 no matter how bad the road is. Besides, the car has good shocks, you apply brake once and they pass you, you stand no chance.

Every single device I have is locked due to the nature of my job. My wife's phone is also locked with our family code in case I need to use it in an emergency. Her phone will be in my hand before I finish asking for it.

Not to be overly critical since each household manages themselves differently.
I locked my phone after the trouble not before. If she needs my phone, i unlock it for her and i know she wont dig into it in my presence. When my phone is unlocked and i am not close she digs into it.

From history, its easy to deal with her on issues like this instantly, once it sleeps in her mind, it grows into a monster. So if she wants to dig into my phone, she has to do it in my presence.

Contrary to your opinion about my marital status. I have been happily married for almost 17 years(+ 2 years of dating) 19 years all in!!! My wife and I both have smartphone's, both smartphones have passwords. I know her password and she knows mine. I don't go digging and neither does she.
Part of the ingredient of a successful marriage is trust. If trust is broken, the union is on a downward slope. I hope you now feel I am qualified to contribute to this thread.
Thank you.
NB: Securing one's phone with a password, is not only to deter detective partners. It also prevents unauthorised access, incase ones phone is lost or stolen.
Good for you.

You dont dig into your wife's phone because you trust her. What if you dont trust her, will you?

Thats what i have been saying all along. The op does'nt trust his wife and she is the cause for reasons he shared. If i see those things he shared in my wife, i will be suspicious too. Am sure you will too and so digging into her phone is the only thing that will satisfy the suspicion.
NB A passworded stolen phone doesnt stop the thief access to the phone data or the phone itself. A hard reset would delete your pasword and leave most data intact by choice.

I have a password specifically because of my wife. Even when i knew i had nothing to hide and my phone wasnt passworded, we had problems cause she dug into it and misunderstood the chat she saw. Some partners over suspicious no matter how ridiculous it is.

My brother, out of love gave up his academics for the highly suspicious girlfriend he had. The guy was a sucker for her but it wasnt enough for her constant over protective demands to the extent she stopped him from going to school abroad after he was withdrawn here.

The seed of mistrust has been planted and its growing.

My phone has a lock which i put because my wife likes digging into the phone. I have been caught before and we had problems. If my marriage to her is threatened now because of that lock, i have no option than to remove and give her full access. I expect same if it were the case with her.

You dont sound married cause if you are , you will know these things even if you are not told. Its same as keeping secrets. I can as well assume my wife has HIV and hiding from me. It will break our home.

The op's wife is an extremely foolish woman or the op is just too predicatable to her that she can do whatever she likes.

There are so many ways to minimize conflicts points and reduce congestion than flyovers (overpasses). Upon all the flyovers in Lagos state, we all can see how much traffic there is. The question is if Nigerian states want to borrow a leaf from U.S States that are currently suffering uncontrolles urbanization and sprawl as well as financial challenges maintaining their extensive road i nfrastructure or go the EU route were or go the EU route and fund sustainable mass transit and controlled urban development. The good thing abt our situation is that we are not yet so developed so we can make the right choice. I for one support only mass transit which is a more sustainable system. A city can function well even without flyovers. Think London underground, and EU trains, Tokyo bullet trains etc.
Mass transit buses require wider roads and with population growth, its just a matter of time that the buses will face the same issues with cars. Besides mass transit is a choice that cannot be forced.

Subways are very very expensive and needs electricity and very good maintenance culture which we lack all.

Lastly, flyovers. This will expand roads and remove conflicts however, it comes with a big sacrifice as it requires space. Even New york city gets damning traffic hold ups, the challenge is space for flyovers.

The problem with Lagos is the total lack of upgrade of roads or development of new ones and absence of alternative transport compared with cities in the US. How old is 3rd mainland bridge and is the capacity adequate? At both ends of the bridge, are there intersections? What has been done about them? But you cant downplay the need for flyovers, there is no other way to solve intersections better than flyovers.

Her phone is her private property. I know it is eating you inside, realising your wife might be cheating on you.
You have to be smart at your detective prowess, to catch her in the act. BE PATIENT!!!
Don't worry, lies have very short legs!!!!
When she decided to get married, even her vagina stopped being her personal property. If she can give that but keep her phone private, then whatever is in the phone is bigger or better than her marriage.

I would have shown her the way to her fathers house already. Once i begin to suspect my wife, divorce is eminent. Our marriage is heading for the rocks and i cant even have sex with her.
