That is a great achievement, congrats to the young scholar.

Not to sound like a hater but I would like to see this achieved in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering as those are tougher disciplines when compared to Civil or other Engineering disciplines at ABU.
On the contrary, Electrical, Mechanical and Chemical engineering in ABU turn out 1st class almost every year. Others like Agric and Metallurgical do occassionally but Civil and Water Resources engineering, its like once in a blue moon.

My set, 2006, had 2 1st class in Chemical and Mechanical. Through out my stay, there was never a 1st class in civil and we did not hear any trace of one. I later heard a boy made it in CVEN around 2010 and now WREN.

Oh yes i did, 3 weeks ago before i took a trip to Enugu. Its blasting colder than it was.

The recharge process wasnt quite a good experience for me. My friend took me to his cousin whom he said is good at it but i just had a stuborn kazeem who doesnt want to learn.

I had no option than to use the small 300g+ since most of them didnt have the big one i prefered. He did exactly what i told him not to do, that is turning the can upside down during recharge. Since the A/C works, i just count myself lucky.

My ex is a nurse whom my wife is well aware of our history. During my wife's 2nd child labour, my ex was the senior nurse on duty that night. Essentially, she recieved delivery of my 2nd child.

My wife is not happy that my unmarried ex didnt give her any special treatment or pretended she didnt know her and was even trying to abscond from her duties.

I missed the birth as i was across country at the time but when i arrived, i was the one who gave my ex a lift home after her duty. My ex doesnt like to see me and refers to me as "married man" if i come close to her even when my closest friend hugs and play cuddly with her in my presense she prefers to shake hands with me. She is too uncomfortable with me or my family, i regard her as a very good friend and wish we could keep contact. Mind you i was the one who broke off and dated her while i was still dating my wife. They both know. I dont have plans to cheat on my wife andhave regretted breaking off with my ex as my relationship with her was one of my best.

Beside, the only implication of this judgement is that Nyako will now be recognised as a former governor who was never impeached. He will be paid all his normal entitlement as a former governor.
Also, he is now qualified to run for elections or hold a public office.

So, I took the vehicle to car doctor for a look after i have changed the camshaft sensors without any improvement . He performed the magic and the car now runs super well. However, the VSA and CEL remained on. According to him, he checked all the electrical wire connections on the vehicle. Further checks revealed that the timing is incorrect. He corrected it and now the car runs super. Infact, we did 180km/hr while test-driving (the car couldn't do more than 120km/hr before).

I still wish the VSA and CEL get off the car, even though cardoctor said I can drive with the lights on. According to him, every trace points to the fault coming from the ECU. He suggested changing the ECU for the problem to be solved and I'm not ready for that yet. Thanks everyone for your contributions.

Yes, I read the thread from A to Z. Thanks.
As long as VSA light is on, you will be losing some power.

I see you have seen our own replacement on the thread www.nairaland.com/2384754/advice-needed-repair-2008-honda/2

Your code simply means the timing is incorrect. I wouldnt suggest opening the engine you just bought. Its just possible the chain is stretched up and jumped a sprocket or 2. A new chain and tensioner plus proper timing setting should solve it. The job wouldnt take more than an hour. The risks are upsetting the VTC actuator which will start the morning sound. Another risk is getting oil leakages if chain cover is not sealed right.

Seller of the engine gave only 1week guarantee. I suggest you get another engine from the seller but i know they would play hard to get. We fired that engine to Kaduna and back twice in the week to make sure the engine wont throw a code or make a strange noise anytime soon.

A friend's friend took me to get a 2002 Corolla somewhere on Ikorodu road. We made payments, got someone to get car papers and number plate for us. One of the dealer's boy's offered to help wash the car, and we headed to eat before everything is set as the car was to be taken to Warri same day. I locked the car and we went away with the key.

I deliberately kept my own car keys in the driver's seat in a pattern before our departure, having heard about this possibility before - and I told my friend I was checking and would ask before we go.

We came back to discover the car had been opened in our absence. We made a lot of noise and threats and collected the spare key.

I trust some. But I verify all.
I have made this point several times.

There are 3 ways to steal a modern car with immobilizer.
1. Spare or duplicate key made or kept by car dealer, mechanic or any crimanal friend who had access to the keys
2. Jail broken ECU
3. Gun point

Those ones that cars disappear in a twinkle of an eye is usually masterminded through the 1st.

yaki84:
the card reader does not contain the data of voters, what it does is to confirm the authenticity of the card n ticks it a go for the bearer of the card to vote.
u can take a card to a polling unit, n d card is authentic but u wont be able to vote cos first ur name n image need to appear in the voters register.
so pls correct urself abt this twin thng of card reader n voters register cos they r two diffrnt things.
jega from d onset said d card reader was for test running in the last election, n he knew what he was doing cos I cant believe how the same card reader will accredit more than 90percent of voters in the north within 30minutes during the presidential elections but down south it was battling with 20percent after 2hrs.
I voted but the card reader did not capture my prints, d corp member guy just said I shud go cos my image was in d voters register n my pvc carried d same details n Image in d voters register.
so I think d way forward is to get a coincise n better device to do the accreditation cos with this present card reader so many people will be disenfranchise in forth coming elections. atleast u saw what happened to gej in d last guber election in bayelsa, he was accredited manually cos d card reader couldnt capture his print.
and also inec shud send a bill thru the presidency to the Nass to ammend the electoral act so the card reader will now be only basis for accreditation. anything short of that means the apc r playing games with their followers cos they control both the executives n legislature.
pdp r spectators, though they have a say in the govt but they will always be overpowered cos they r d minority.
the ball is in d court of inec n apc to do the needful.
apc zombies shud stop ranting abt the judgement cos the same supreme court favoured them too in the case of agbaje vs ambode concerning the cardreader issue.
I rest my case!
The bolded part is wrong and so are some points you tried to make about the accreditation.

The car reader actually contains the voters data as capture in the voters register and even more.

A successful accreditation is for that the card is successfully read by the reader to be authentic and that your finger print matches the one on record for that particular card holder. By holding the finger print data of all voters, it means that it has the names and other details. This is the reason a single card reader is programmed for a single polling unit not the entire Nigerian voters register.

Secondly, i have not heard of cases where the card is authentic but the name is not in the register at the PU the card was recieved. I have heard otherwise where the name is in the register but card not available. I wonder how a card can be produced with no name on the list. During voting, some people went to wrong PU's but the card reader rejected their cards. In my PU for eg, 2 PU's had almost the same name and in the same village. One is Ungwan Kaura 1 and the other Ungwan Kaura 2. Voters cards and Card readers of the PU's cannot be exchanged and so those who went to PU 2 holding carda of PU 1 were rejected by the card reader.

Kingsteve:
If the Ball joints are faulty, the car would continue to veer either to the left or right, regardless of alignment done...so I heard.
I stand to be corrected!
Most people dont know this fact.

Alignment hardly goes off by itself, it is the suspension parts that wear off. If alignment goes off, consult a mechanic first then the alignment booth thereafter.

Alignment is adjusted on the joint between the steering tie rod ends (inner and outer). Wearing of these 2 parts are the main cause of an off alignment. Others that contribute in a smaller measure is the lower and upper arm ball joints. One condition that causes alignment to seem off but its not actually the case is an unevenly worn or sized tires.

One thing i do is that i dont buy one directional tires. This is because when i have an unevenly worn tire, i can change the tire direction to correct but with the one directional tire, it is not adviseable to change it especially in the rainy season.

I have also noticed that some brands of tires are easily balanced while others will always cause problems. Of course most tires we use in Naija are Chinese tires and have low quality.

Lastly, when i do the road side telescopic alignment, i never allow them to remove my steering wheel like most will do in order to reset it. They must do it from down there. The guy i use usually as a first step checks the alignment to see it is off. If yes, he drives back and comes front in a straight line to see which side of the wheel needs to be adjusted to have the steering back straight. He adjusts the affected side(s) which comes from experience. He then drives on a less busy highway, if steering is off, he parks by the road adjust both sides equally to adjust steering. By the time he returns he checks the alignment finally. The process is tedious but cheap at between N300-500. Computer based is the best since all 4 wheels are squared plus the steering and usually about 2k in Abj while laser cost the same but not as reliable since steering could still be off during driving.

Just as that of Odili was wrong, these election ruling in Rivers and Akwa Ibom are also wrong and no one shud justify the SC!
Exactly! They even knew that their decision will become law or lead to abolishing the card reader that is universally accepted as a good development in our elections. Is like saying rigging is better.
Politics › Re: Why We Ignored Card Reader Reports In Election Cases – S’court by adanny01(m): 11:16pm On Feb 06, 2016
I am not a lawyer but i think the supreme court erred in its decision.

Imagine it like this; my boss (FG) asked me (INEC) to distribute some cash to a list (voters register) of people (voters). In the past, i messed up everything as people claimed to be others and collected cash that belongs to someone else. Those who didnt get their share were furious on my boss and me. So i deviced a means (card reader) to identify the people in the true list and it was successful. I handled the list better than before but the impersonators reported to my boss's business partner (Supreme court) that my father and me decided to use a different means instead of just giving anybody who came. Now, my boss's businesses partner ordered me to give it to anybody even if his name is not verified to be on the list.

Isnt my boss's business colleague encouraging thieves.
How will his instruction help the purpose (free and fair elections) for which the money is being distributed?

INEC didnt go out of the law, it is just for supreme court to do the right thing by making the card reader law. Whatever the card reader is, it never surplanted the voters register but made it sacrosanct.

Its also like dismissing the case of a murderer caught in the act with all the evidence on a technicality that his rights were not read to him. How has justice been served and how will justice be served in future?

Unless the National assembly comes into this matter, election rigging has been legalised by the supreme court's action.

Good Day Guys,

I wanted installing an inverter in my apartment but something came to mind when going through some inverter catalogue. Let say, I settle for a 5KVA inverter:

1. How much power will the inverter consume for charging (Does it use the entire 5KVA to charge)?
2. What is the implication of the inverter on my meter tariff: e.g I have a load of 4.5kw and the inverter is rated 5KVA, will the 5KVA load add to my tarrif charge making it (4.5KW + 5KVA)

Good explanation shall be highly appreciated..........
Very good question for those who are installers. I am interested in knowing.

I can only estimate that from the sound of my 2kw gen when different loads are plugged on to it. I have a 1.2kva inverter and i can guess it draws less than 1kw since i have a 1kw pressing iron to compare the gen's sound when plugged.

Can I Try to answer this? Can we look at it from a point of how much power (voltsX current) we can put back to our battery bank ? The current plus the volts you are using that current matters. A 12V 400amp system has the same TOTAL capacity as 24V 200 amp system = 4800Watts all things being equal in a perfect system. However, 12v 20amp system will deliver 240w power back to my battery bank per hour while 24v 20amp will deliver 480w, cutting the charging time by half.
Hope this helps.
Initially, i thought otherwise that a 20amp charger for example will deliver the same power in any voltage system and would naturally take longer to charge when battery bank is increased. I have realised that thats not the only case since when voltage increases, power delivery increases proportionally. I arrived at a conclusion in this post below.

I get the point.

Example: there is this certain inverter of Prag brand in 2 variants both 4kva with 30 charger and cost the same 165k. The only difference is one is 24v the other is 48v. Lets say i have 4 12v batteries of 200Ah.

1. 24v will give 2S2P arrangement to get 24v 400Ah. This will take 13.3hrs to full charge and store 9600wh

2. 48v will give 4S arrangement to get 48v 200Ah. This will take 6.7hrs to full charge and store 9600wh

Am I right to say there is no point or benefit of buying the 24v inverter when it simply slow down charging. It also means as much as possible we should avoid connecting batteries in parallel as it will take too long to charge. It also means if am to advise a user who already has a 48v inverter and plans to upgrade the battery bank to 8 12v batteries to better plan for a 96v inverter too.

This is interesting.
I got this reply from Chris which got me a little confused and sought to get some more explanations leading to the exchanges.

You are not quite correct. I have a 24 V 6 kw inverter with a 140 Amp charger. What determines how quickly you charge is the battery bank and the size of the charger.
You can do parallel connections as long as you don't exceed (recommended that you don't exceed) 4 banks. You can avoid multiple banks by purchasing higher AH batteries. You can find 2V 4700 AH batteries in the market if you so desire
Thank you for your contribution. I now understand why Mercury 1.2kva 12v and 2.4kva 24v inverter have the same charging current of 20A but same charging time even with the 24v having twice the battery bank.

I have had two answers to my question. One is yours and out of the people who said otherwise i quoted one for you. Those who said no gave their reasons using the numerous same calculations above.

My electrician informed me that all the alternators of this kind he has changed had the same problem i.e burnt rectifier. So i made the order from Abuja for an exact replacement as the last option.

It arrived but not physically as clean as i expected and took less than 20mins to install. It worked fine but on my way home after installation, the car started misbehaving. I was using A/C and i was surprised that the A/C wasnt chilling. Close to my house i could hear the A/C clutch engage but disengaged right after and the car was already hot and uncomfortable. A lot of things were strange, i stopped and shifted gear to N and the idle went up to about 1200rpm. Something was obviously wrong. I continued to home but just in front of my home i head the whine creaping back. I lost composure and turned off the engine immediately and opened the bonnet. The car was owfully hot but no smell from the alternator like before. Right there i noticed, BOTH COOLING FANS WERE NOT CONNECTED. I connected and they both started spinning immediately even when the car was off. I understood that the car over heated. I was just lucky the temp didnt go higher. Inside, the temp guage was almost at the red line, i wonder how i didnt notice.

Now, i still have a little whine. It fluctuates between 14.1-14.3v which i believe is ok.
