Hahahahahahahaha

My dear Uzo, your region needs political tutorial.

You should not be saying such, PDP even just yesterday adopted Ndume and even presented former Deputy Senate President. PDP tried but most PDP members decided to do as their spirit led them which APC did last time when PDP capitalized on the error. Now APC corrected the mistake and so you cannot claim PDP wasnt interested, they just couldn't do it. Their ranks was broken.

Infact, the election displayed true democracy.

Shifting to gear 2 is to gather more momentum without slacking....
So far we are going up, there's no issue.
But it won't be palatable to downshift from such rpm
Are you aware of power band? It is a range of rpm that the engine delivers its highest power, below or above the power band you will only slow you down. Racing drivers know their power band and shift gears within the power band.

Say your redline is 7k rpm and your power band is 3-5k, your best upshift point is the highest power band rpm and the best down shift point is your lowest power band rpm. The car achieves the best acceleration only in this band. If you accelerate till 7k, you will feel the car losing power.

If shifting to 2 will not get you to the base of you power band, 3 would be better.

HenriXI:
Thank you very much for your input... evidently a problem shared is half solved... i like the mathematical analysis @abes

i shared this concern in another forum and i got a link to a site that does tire size comparison. 205/65R15 is sure higher than 195/65R15 though by a very small margin... (here's a screenshot of what i had online).

However, in reality it could be different...
Since i have people here who own my same kind of vehicle and run on 205/65R15 without issues, i think I'll go with the 205/65R15 then i'll also share my experience...

Any Tyre type you might recommend? (Maxxis on my mind... 25k each down here #South).
If i were you, i won't increase the width. You need more height not width.

First pix is 195 65/R15 vs 195 70/R15
18mm height increase
0mm width increase

Second pix is 195 65/R15 vs 205 65/R15
13mm height increase
10mm width increase

1st gives you height increase which is more ground clearance and less high speed stability while
2nd gives you width which is more stability and a little more ground clearance but you risk damage to either tire, body or sand protectors with tire making contact with wheel arch.

I will go with 195 70/R15

Ask yourself if I really meant 2003 model of Corolla is N2m.

Ask yourself, if i say 2003 Civic, i mean i dont know 2002 Civic exist so i am talking about 2003 specifically excluding 2002, 2004 or 2005 models of the same car.

Pls dont drag me to a lame argument. My points remain valid for 2003-2006 Corolla and 2002-2005 American models!

There you have it. Not all toks 2003 Corolla is sold for 1.8-2m. Is the Japanese, Australian, European models of Corolla sold for 1.8-2m? Of course i didnt say 2003-2006 and didnt specify which region specific model i was referring to but most people, of course except you, know what am talking about. Ka ci hanya (Hausa - dont ask me to translate and it is not an insult)

You can choose to be petty for all i care, my point has been delivered even to you.

If 03 is 03 to you, 03 America isnt 03 Europe to me. Even you have got it wrong. My point remains same. Abi bank type corolla is the same with North American Corolla. The reaon I added North is that next comment you will say North American model is different to South American and I didn't specify. Thats just pettiness on your part.

Your exaggeration is just to degrade the Civic.

A 2 door Naija Civic is 300-500k and a 4 door is 400-650k. Anything less is a scrap and anything more is one chance.

I have seen a scrap Corolla for 600k, but it doesn't mean that the 1.2-1.4m range we talk about applies to every scrap Corolla out there. We are talking of good grade Naija used. If you want i can equally claim used Corolla is 600k-1.4m.

Knowing the prices of such cars, if i see a 1m Corolla, i will think well before buying it. Thats just because i know how much its been sold out there. A 300k Civic is scrap.

TheCar:
You have a good point but you missed a vital "CLUE". The person you replied didn't buy a Corolla or use a Corolla.

He said and I qoute "the guys who bought corrolas were smart, at least they can sell for 1.2-1.4m depending on how clean they still are." So why launch an attack on Corolla people?

The law of supply and demand is a theory that explains the interaction between the sellers of a resource (Corolla) and the buyers for that resource (Corolla). The theory defines how the relationship between the availability of a particular product and the desire (or demand) for that product has on its price. Generally, low supply and high demand increase price and vice versa.

Corolla is over-priced because the demand exceed supply and to think it is a waste of monetary value, is throwing objectivity out of your argument. We need to ask the person, who is ready to buy a 2003 Corolla at a higher price when other alternatives are far cheaper. Even the "Luxurious Camry" is cheaper than Corolla which is might to be vice versa.

Kudos
My post is based on the statement, "the guys who bought the Corolla were smart" not because he bought a Corolla or not. For making that statement, he is a Corolla guy which i refered to him as one.

My post in summary says that his statement is incorrect. Infact, i mean the direct opposite, "the guys who bought the Civic are smart". They are smart because they get to start a business with 1-1.2m while a Corolla guy would need 1.8-2m to start the same Uber business and make the same money. At the end the Civic guy would make the same money as the Corolla guy. What they get when they eventually sell out is value for their property and not profit from the business, it doesnt count as a smart decision.

Look at it this way, the person who bought the Corolla has effectively tied down an extra 600k-1m for nothing or just to cash out on second hand value even though both cars will lose same value.

Imagine if you get a Civic at 1m and a corolla at 2m, if given the same amount the Civic guy would have bought 2 civics for the price of 1 Corolla while the civic guy earns twice what a Corolla guy would make. This is to buttress the fact that Corolla guys are far from smart, infact i would say a dumb decision.

Imagine using 2m with corolla to make 35k a week or using 2m with a civic to make 70k a week!

One night some girl and some guy were going to a party but had an accident and couldn't go anymore so they went to her house and she called the guy's mama.

"Mama", she said. "We had an accident"
"Hehn!" Said mama. "Is anybody hurt?"
"No mama".
"Olorun seun" said mama. "Come now and finish my hair my dear", and mama put the phone down.
The girl turned to the guy, " Mama said I should come do her hair".
Guy looked at clock and yelled, "Hell no"! And they went to bed.

The next morning, they got up early and went to the guy's house where mama stays, and as soon as they entered, mama ripped! "What time is this? Why didn't you come last night? Is that how you disrespect your mother?! And you want to marry my son!?"

On hearing his mama, the guy said, "Mama mi, it was two o'clock in the morning! It would have taken us 2 hours to get here!" But mama was having none of it and ripped some more till eventually, the guy ripped too!

"Would you ask my sister your own daughter to travel at that time?" And mama's response brought thunder.
"This is my house!" He said to his mama. If you cannot be civil to my friend and live in my house by my rules, then get out!"

Mama think say na joke. Every morning the guy would wake up and say, "Good morning mama mi. Are you still here? I want you to leave my house please!" And three weeks later, mama moved out, and the girl and guy got married a year later with mama's blessings.

A year to the day after they were married, the wife and husband were returning from the home office where the wife had just been given Indefinite Leave to Remain when she said, "It's been a while since I have been home to see my mother, I'd like to go and see her". So they arranged for her to go and she was gone for a month. And when she returned, she said she wanted a divorce, "your mama, your mama, your mama!" And they divorced.

She went on to have two beautiful daughters who are now married themselves, while mama is still praying that her 60 year old only son find a suitable woman to give her grandchildren.

I think you have the patience and wisdom to deal with this. You calmly presented your case and I believe you remain calm when dealing with mama hence the 3 likes. I think you should have moved on when he refused to defend you. You should have told him off big time when he didn't and got him to commit to defending you from attack. What if it were an outsider, would he have said nothing then too?! Talk to him about it now.

The two star is for not living with her and for keeping her in a different state. That's bold! She has not changed. You saw it when she spoke to her husband who must have put up with her as long as her oldest child has lived. Don't go there! If she and her son move to your state, its probably time to move states unless you get that commitment from him to defend you from her in writing! And it likely would be worth less than the ink its written in! A commitment from her would be worth more, but I think that's wishing on a star territory.

I'll be rooting for you. Remain strong.

2 like! Plus 3 like now that I've read it.
In summary, you hoped the hubby would have defended his wife from the clearly, unnecessary, verbal molestation.

Yes it was bad but i would have prefered he catch his wife buy the hand and said, lets leave this place without saying more words that would put salt on frayed nerves. The wife has rightly moved on but the husband is not in the same page.

Asking him do defend her seems like you are asking him to confront the mother on his wife's behalf. That's far from the solution. His responsibility is to keep his mother away from his wife so that the can keep a minimal level of interaction and still be a family.

A lot of women seek for defence against MIL's but i think the best defence is to keep them at opposing arms length. The wife has done it by herself and needs her husband to cement the safe position that is currently in existence.

In your story, the husband should not have allowed his wife on a solitary a visit. I will not allow that if i know who my mother is. You dont keep a Lion and a Goat in the same cage, you dont even keep them in adjacent cages. You keep the far from each other for peace to reign.

Some people's sole aim in this world is to provoke people intentionally, I am a "slow to react to anger" kind of person and I always stay in my lane and mind my business, once I smell trouble coming from afar, I run to the opposite direction as fast as my leg can carry me, I come from a tribe where you have to respect elders no matter the situation same as what my Bible says so what gives abeg.......

My husband always praise his mum cos she trained him to med school here in U.S.A, of course who wouldn't just like I don't joke with my dad cos he did well for his six kids, so he adores his mum, praises her in every situation, always at her beck and call, I didn't see it as a big deal cos, well, it's his mum, we met here in NY, he and his family stay in Maryland while I was schooling in NY, the plan was when we get married I'll go back and forth till I finish school then move to Maryland, so I took in, you know first pregnancy how difficult it is, so one of those days i went to ML for the weekend one time, during that period, his mum had a get together so everyone is expected to be there, being in my first trimester, I was sick and told her I can't be there, she insisted and I told her I'll try, when the time came I was too ill to go anywhere so I didn't go, all for his mum to come later that night and was shouting saying and I quote "when I tell my son your husband to run he will run, even if I tell him to jump he will do just that so who are you to tell me you can't come, what silly sickness, if I blow that your belly, highest is you'll loose the pregnancy and then take in again, nothing is going to happen" that is exactly what she said, I was shocked, my husband was there looking he didn't say anything, his father was there, he shouted at her that why would she say something like that, his mum shut him down saying all manner of unsayable things because she was more like the breadwinner, his sister, that one cannot talk if not the mother will insult her very existence just because she got pregnant out of wedlock but she still married the father ooo, me, my mouth was open, I couldn't talk cos I dont even know what to say, when they left hubby didnt even try to ease my mind or anything, the next day I jejely left for NY, vowing that my leg will never step into ML anymore.

Sincerely I was tempted to abort and divorce my husband because I don't understand how someone can say evil like that, even if it was a joke, that was nonsense, since then I've been in NY, I gave birth here, Dre has been the one coming here, it's not like me and his mum don't talk, she calls and we talk, sometimes I call too, all for recently, infact last week Dre says he got an opening for a job here and he wants to take it, I blatantly told him NO, because his parents couldnt work anymore due to health and all so they are staying with him in ML, him moving here means his mum will do that too, I told him no that I like things the way they are, no issues, nothing, I cannot stay in the same house with his mum because we will have issues that one is certain, he started shouting, I reminded him of what his mother said two years ago, he now said it is the past, which past? Now that I'm working I am expected to leave my babies with her, call me delusional the instinct of a mother is to protect her children, even if she may not do anything, we will still have issues and I don't want that before someone say I'm disrespectful when I talk back.

If I decide to turn American now, I'll just tell him he can't bring anyone here without my permission, but no, I won't tell him that, some of their laws here is stupid to be honest and I'm a nice person and I was born and bred in the north in Nigeria also I don't want to escalate issue, I am the only one here, my family is in Nigeria and i never mentioned any of this to them so it won't turn to family issues, now he's not talking to me saying he will take drastic measures, it will not pass divorce and custody battle of which I know I will win but I don't want that for my kids, they need their parents in the same home not divorced, my own is he should stay where he is and take care of his parents and continue worshiping his mum, is it that hard?

I dey vex abeg, pls advice on other options fam.
Your ML is the way she is and have been, you cant change her all you need to do is give her space and disregard her mouth. I am sure your husband disregards her words too but you are new to her and have not yet learnt to disregard her remarks. You are learning and have taken steps to keep your distance which i agree, but distancing, your husband, as well as his efforts is not a good thing.

That he cannot stand up to his mother does not mean he is a bad man. My wife accuses me of the same offence but the truth is that i simply refuse to take sides coupled with the fact that i naturally is less vocal that both my wife and mum. Besides, at some times i find fault with my wife but i will not tell her in front of my parents.

The only issue is that of having you husband move over without dragging your inlaws with him, i agree, it will spell doom. He needs to get that point so basically i advise you sit him down and make him understand that it is the interest of the family and the children you are after.

In my case, we live in the same town with my parents, their house which i contributed in building is half empty while my house is small for my growing family. I have never considered moving in with my parents even when my mum suggested. I know its a bad idea and your husband should understand and make appropriate plans.

Ehailing business is dead and buried when it comes to 3rd parties. Only owner drivers will survive the current slash of fares, and the fares will drop further until owner drivers can barely meet minimum wage per month. The Ehailing companies are capitalists, it's all about profits, there will be no room for people like you in a few weeks time as rental will fall to 20k soon.

You also picked vehicles with very poor 2ndhand value, so even cashing out of the system will be very hard for you. The elantra and civic cannot be sold for more than 400-500k the guys who bought corrolas were smart, at least they can sell for 1.2-1.4m depending on how clean they still are.

You need to re-think your strategy as you are yet to make profit after 2years.

There is no motivation in investing in a business that yields no profits.
A toks 2003 Corolla cost 1.8-2m and a 2nd hand value of 1.2-1.4 with a value drop of 400-800k

A toks 2003 Civic cost 1-1.2m and a second hand value of 400-600k with a value drop of 400-800k.

Tell me whats the difference? You Corolla guys cannot be objective for reasons best known to you guys. You think Corolla is the best but other far less expensive cars can be as profitable and require less capital at the same time.

A toks 2003 camry is 1.5-1.6 while a smaller 2003 corolla is 1.8-2m. An accord is 1.4-1.5 toks while Civic is 1-1.2. Cant you see that Corolla is a over priced car and is a waste of monetary value.

Bros, don't go and ruin people's gears of. 15k miles or one year is the standard recommendation for transmission fluid changes.. I have seen those cars that the manufacturer claims does not need fluid changes but we find out that the oil is dirty and less than 3 litres out of 8.
On one hand, you guys would say, "follow manufacturer's recommendation".

On the other hand, you will say, "don't follow manufacturer's recommendation".

Which 1 nah?

Should we forget all manufacturer's recommendation?

Accepting defeat after exploiting all means to subvert APC's choice.

PDP is playing mind games. They dont want to be seen as failures so the throw in the towel before the fight night.

How did the rewire check the alternator to confirm its okay or bad? Most times those guys use just bulb or a tester light and also touch the pulley of the alternator with a spanner to see if it magnets before putting jumping to conclusions and condemning stuffs.

I had same issue with my car last year and ended up changing 3 alternators and killing 2 brand new batteries in less than 6 month until those guys made me a DIY by force and I ended up fixing it myself. Mine had short circuit from the alternator to the battery and some ground issues cussed by corrosion. I bought a wire and ran it from the alternator to the battery and cleaned all ground connections and problem was solved.

You can do a simple test on your alternator and battery yourself. Get a meter and set it to DC 15v or there about to read and diagnose your charging system. Place the + or red pin of the meter on the + side of your battery head, and the - or black pin of the meter on the -side of the battery. If it reads 12.7v after parking for a long time (probably overnight) the next step is to check the capacity of the battery to start the car. If it reads below 12.7V then you might need to charge the battery.

Ask someone to start the car for you while you check the reading on your meter. Make sure the voltage does not drop below 10.5v (the gurus should correct me if I'm wrong). If it drops below that then you might need a new batter or charge the battery. If the reading is okay, then move over to next step.

Step 2: With the engine running, check the charging current with your meter. It should be reading 14.7v and never exceed 15v(check your cars repair manual to be sure of your cars charging current). If the reading is okay, turn on your A/C, Full Head light, radio, wiper, defroster and all power consuming stuffs in the car. The voltage should not drop below 13V. If it does, rev your car a little bit to 2,500RPm to see if it improves.

If the voltage does not get to 14.7v without load and or drops below 12.7v, its time to move to step 3.

Step 3: Now you need to be a DIY for this depending on the car and the kind of alternator you have.
Check the battery terminal for corrosion, check and read all the ground connections, check the fuses, and read the alternator itself.

Step 4: Let's assume everything is fine with the charging system, ask you rewire to check if there is something that stays on when the car is on. You can also do that with your meter if you know how to use it.

Step 5: Check the kick starter, it could be a culprit too.

The ogas can help you further, I'm just a DIY.
Step 2 is actually a range of 13.5-14.7v. A steady 14.7 will overcharge and destroy the battery so it fluctuates down to 13.5 when battery is full. It also does this regulations to limit the alternator output, if not the voltage will go higher as Engine rpm rises up and come down with low rpm.

Only the kick starter draws power directly from the battery via a relay from the ignition switch. Every other thing goes through the car's power regulator. Remember that the car power system is based on 12v, so a direct 14.7 from alternator or 12.7 from battery will damage or may not run the car.

Have you noticed that even when there is no Kickstarter connected, any attempt to start the car turns off power to some accessories such as Radio and power outlets. The power regulator saves some power by turning of these accessories and back again after starting.

so the u.s.a president's car is still powered by fuel in 2019 ? wonders shall never end.but children of hate said that oil will become useless as electric cars will replace oil powered vehicles by 2020.
When building the car, the priority is torque, range and speed. Only diesel has the capacity to fulfill their needs. Its not whether water will not do, it how fast can water engine evacuate you from a position when you are as heavy as that car is, how far can it go on a litre and how much pulling and pushing power does it have. Lastly how portable is it to fit into the amount of space they have.

So it's even petrol it burns.

Was thinking for that staggering amount, it should be running on water.
Actually, it is diesel.

Oga economics, what I said holds true. I agree in that the forces of demand and suppy affects price but rour analogy is somewhat of a second buyer making N500,000 for Civic and Corolla hypothetical.
Isn't the N10m for both brand new Civic and Corolla not hypothetical?

Can you buy any of the cars with the said amount?
