I started driving at 19. My dad's friends used to get angry when they see me driving past them thinking he was the one.

When i was teaching my youngest sister to drive at 18, my father's friend had sons 25, 23 and 21 all couldnt drive.

The embarrassment caught up with him when he fell critically ill in the middle of the night and no one could drive in his house. I was woken up to take him to the hospital at 23. His wife gave me money to buy fuel that morning to give driving lessons to all her children.

Another of my father's friend's bought a new car and his stubborn son who couldn't drive crashed it.

My children will learn to drive at 16 but wont get a drivers license till 20. I will teach them myself (hopefully).

I want them to be able to drive in an emergency and also in case youthful exuberance makes the steal a car for a night out. Its better to know it than not in such situations.

Not to burst your bubble, how have you combatted the challenges of the tracker as its called.

Let me mention some of its challenges.

1. What form of tracking is available, GPS or mobile network triangulation. A GPS tracker needs to have a GPS antenna and thief knows it. You cant hide a GPS antenna and that is a clear info for thieves. To disable it is simply to yank it off. A mobile network tracker just needs a network scrambling device to disable it or they just take your phones and drop you off where you cannot get access to a mobile phone and they have a head start.

2. A voice listener still needs network.

3. A geo fencing still needs one of the options and it can be disabled

In fact, every function of a tracker either depends on mobile network or gps both of which are unreliable.

Is it not safe to assume that the safest security is the factory installed immobilizer. When you get robbed at gunpoint, no security is effective unless the robbers are novices enough not to make sure a tracker is disabled.

However, on this matter it seems the supplier knew the goods being supplied was at a variance(no matter how small) to what the customer to what the customer chose. Best practice which we should all aspire to is to disclose this and let the customer make a choice despite the risk of losing the deal. as it is, it seems the calculation was the customer will manage but there are a few people who ouldnt. also, to ensure a service culture grows in our business space we will need to allow the customer vent.

It is absolutely correct that some dealers would intentionally supply you a variant of the same thing for reasons best known to them.

In this case, for supplying a right swing stainless steel door instead of a left swing even when the supplier had the building plan, i agree the seller made an error. Am unforgivable one at that. That the error is intentional or not is what i cannot prove and i would not assume that he supplied that door intentionally. It is wrong to assume that the seller did intentionally without knowing if he had in stock the left swing door or not. A case of fraud would have assumed the seller did intentionally.

For supplying dented doors, we still cannot assume it was intentional because the doors traveled from Lagos to Edo, they could have been damaged on transit. It is wrong to assume that the seller supplied damaged doors intentionally.

For supplying a wrong pattern or colour of doors, i also think it could be a misconception or miscommunication since it wasn't written on the invoice. When you show me a door sample and i said, yes i love this one, the problem is that i didnt see all the colours and all the patterns. The seller may have not paid attention to the particular colour or the particular pattern but has focused on the particular quality and spec since they all cost the same in that range. I have seen the seller mention Oak, it does happen that due to manufacturing, the shade of oak can be different to the sample or due to a picture the hue will be different to the eyes. There are several possibilities that we cannot also say 100% that the seller supplied the wrong pattern or colour intentionally.

Let me tell you my experiences, I wore a wrong colour of suit on my wedding day. I saw a black one in the boutique and asked him to bring grey for me, he delivered a brown suit 1 week to my wedding and it will take more than a week to get the right one. I have bought the same doors as op before but in my case, i was at the showroom physically. I requested for a right swing turkey door which i confirmed before loading on the vehicle. I bought also 8 panel doors with frames. When they were about to load, i proceeded to check. The 8 doors were the same product but they were 5 different patterns of which 2 were different colours which i rejected. They had to match my demands. The frames also had 3 wrong colours and they were all left swing. I corrected all that too. I bought a lot of tiles by viewing samples at the showroom and where loaded on to the truck from their ware house using the carton colour codes. When i got home, i discovered that my particular choice of kitchen tiles was exactly what i chose but it had 2 vertical lines that didn't exist on the sample. I had 1 whole carton of 6x6 tiles broken diagonally apart from the ones chipped at edges. Every other tile had several complete cartons broken due to the careless driver. On the bathroom floor tiles, i found 1 cartoon that was the same colour but had a no pattern. I found about 2 cartons with different colours. The 5 complete set WC I bought, 1 had a broken flushing mechanism.

The point is, even when i was physically there and made my choice, even double checked before it was loaded, i still had a few things wrong. I rejected some, I accepted some and replaced some (flush mechanism) besides having a lot of cartons of tiles broken on transit without calling the supplier a criminal or fraudstar.

I am not defending the seller nor castigating the buyer or either way, i am saying the transaction cannot be proven as fraud or criminal breach of trust. I am saying its a common error which happens intentionally and non intentionally. The best approach is to reject the wrong supply and manage the ones he can and then encourage the seller by means of subsidy if affordable without insisting on fraud and criminal breach of trust.

You have used the seller, by your experience, is he a criminal or a fraudstar? If you were defrauded by the seller then its even better, we can generally assume he is used to fraud.

Install any steel door before tiling because steel doors are not adjustable neither is an already set tile.

HDF or wooden doors can be installed after tiling.

Fraud is established by INTENSION not cost. So if I ordered for a blue Benz 200 as displayed on your website or as agreed on a messanger platform like WhatsApp, and you INTENTIONALLY supplied red Benz 200 of same price, fraud can be established.

In this scenario, the supplier has gained from the transaction, he shifted a product he's finding difficulties in shifting. The client is out of pocket as he didn't get the product he paid for.

I have said and rest my case long ago, i can only repeat my case probably in a language i think you should understand and if you dont, my case is still resting.

How are you sure the seller intentionally sent you the red Benz 200? How are you sure that the seller's driver didn't mistake his instructions or the seller didn't give proper instructions to his driver who made the delivery. In that case, to establish intent that the Benz seller had for fraud, the red Benz 200 needs to be cheaper or the blue Benz 200 has been sold to another customer. Otherwise, its just a mix up and calling it fraud will be character assassination. What happens to, "hello, you delivered the wrong car and i would not accept it, take it back and get me my car or refund."

If what you say is true, Konga, Jumia and all online Marchants would have been sued daily for fraud. Thats why they have a return policy. You paid for something and got something else, you return it not say its criminal or fraud. It is when the seller refuses to take back or correct the error or refund then we say fraud. At this point there is intent to defraud.

Lastly and repeatedly, let the op call the seller and ask for the right thing to be done. If the seller says he wont do, then he can called him a scammer, criminal, fraud etc and i will support the op. If the seller nows does the right thing, how can op take back the damage he has done in calling the seller criminal and fraud etc.

Very true, i had to blast one very rude and unprofessional male igbo nurse in a Kaduna government hospital. My mum had to come in and talk sense to the guy. He has this government job as a Kaduna state civil servant but his Igbo state will never give such employment to a person from Kaduna state.

I also had an encounter with an Edo state born albino doctor who was my childs pediatrician. This man swore to never treat my child even if he was dying if i insist he discharges us from admission. I had already decided he will never treat my son even before he made the threat. He was eventually fired for his atrocious behaviour.

My stay in Akwa ibom was something else. Due to my dark complexion, a police man tried to intimidate me after he asked where i came from,. He asked me to park and telling me why i was driving a car branded NDPHC and documents read Niger Delta saying why is an aboki driving our car. With my ID, it took his superior to let me go. My landlord, a medical doctor never believed i was a christian for over 2 years i stayed in his BQ. They all called me Awokusa behind me. We were never friendly throughout even with the gifts i brought for them from the north everytime i went home.

Can you quote me or give proof that i tried to silence the complainer. I said several times, he should not call it fraud because timhis doesnt qualify as fraud! The seller made costly mistakes which i agreed and pointed out, it may be a breach of trust but not criminal breach of trust or fraud for that matter.

I gave the blame to the supplier and asked the complainant to talk to the supplier to find a way to send the affected items back and correct the mistake. I have told the op, if he doesn't want them, send them back.

If buyer reached an agreement with supplier to deliver those doors based on colour, orientation, design pattern among other details and the supplier breached that agreement by supplying something totally different, then supplier can be accused of criminal breach of trust or fraud irrespective of the quality of product delivered.

Also we need to hear suppliers side of the story.

Where in the invoice shared by op stated the orientation, colour or design pattern? Fraud is when the financial cost of what was supplied is less than what was agreed.

Does the orientation, colour and design pattern change the cost of the doors? If no, the its not fraud.

The only part that could be fraud is for the doors with dents and if it is proven that the seller sold the doors knowing they were defective right from his warehouse.

What is the financial gain when both doors cost the same thing? How criminal is it to supply left instead of right, blue instead of green if both are the same price?

To be fraud, their must be intent to defraud and their must be action to defraud.

If we negotiate for a phone that is not present at the negotiation, when i finally deliver the phone to you as agreed but with a broke screen. It is not fraud if the screen was broken on transit to you. It is fraud if i negotiated with you knowing fully well the screen is broken. I had the intention of selling a defective phone.

The 2 doors the op received with dents might have happened between Lagos and Edo. Its not like the 17 doors are all dented.

Criminal breach of trust or fraud is no small allegation.

Being active in the Autos section of Nairaland, i have seen a lot of fraud cases and your case is not even close to anyone of them. At some point you said you accepted the mistake made by the supplier. Its not like he collected the money and refused to pick your calls or supply the items. Its not that he collected money for original and supplied fake.

I have agreed with you that, your issues with orientation, colour, physical imperfections and to add now, the design pattern, are valid issues the seller should settle with you. These issues should not be regarded as criminal breach of trust or fraud especially if the quality of products is that which you ordered (except for the physically imperfect doors).

I am not against you, but please, dont say he defrauded you or any of the sort and then talk him into returning the ones that are unacceptable (especially the ones with dents and the wrong orientation).

I understand you trying to mediate and calm the situation down but truth be told the seller of these doors should be held accountable and be made to supply the right items.

The buyer can decide to pay half the transportation cost if he wants to.

as for Op..sometimes it is better to just buy these things in the city where u re building in a local shop where u can easily hold the seller responsible..Nigerians re not ready for e-commerce yet..there is no protection for the buyers/sellers of items online.

Yes its better to buy things you can see. I have bought things i have not seen severally especially on Jumia, Konga, Ali Express etc.

One time i bought a shirt from Jumia, the description didn't say it was a slim fit and i wasnt particularly a slim fit. Everything was fine but wont button up. I returned the item telling them their mistake. Did i pay for delivery or return, no.

I am only left to imagine why didnt the op simply reject the items, instead calling fraud. Is this fraud? Does the quality match, i think yes. The issues i see here is orientation, physical imperfections and colour. Which of these amount to fraud? That of colour is can be overlooked, the op overlooked the orientation. What is left is the 2 doors with imperfections.

At this point, op should have explored means to resolve the situation by rejecting the goods that didn't meet the specs and if the seller refused every resolution then he comes here.

Now, 17 doors were ordered, 2 are physically damaged. I say reject. 1 or 2 of the turkey doors have wrong orientation, i say reject. That is 4 of 17. What is wrong with the 13? Do we know? Are they in perfect shape and orientation, then accept them.

If 85k is tp for 17 doors and i rejected 4 which will be taken to Lag and back. Lets assume this cost 80k, it will not be wrong in the interest of peace to say, he will offset the supplier 20k to encourage him to take responsibility of his mistakes. Thats negotiation, i simply asked the op to negotiate a resolution. If the supplier owns up to his responsibility, he should pay in full for tp back and forth. Has the supplier refused to do that?

I am not saying you must bear any cost. I said negotiate with the seller. He messed up. I am saying support him if he needs financial support to correct it so that your job comes out the way you imagined it.

If you did request for an orientation, then reject the wrong orientation delivered to you. The invoice didn't show that you did anyways. Also, am saying you over reacted.

From the supplied pictures, i have seen imperfections (dents and scratches) with the two steel interior doors. Thats a problem for me as i would say they are not as clean as a new door supply should be. He is responsible for that since you paid him for transportation and they might have been damaged during TP. Also, the door as seen from the order pic is not the same colour as delivered, besides the polythene protection is still on, so you will not see how beautiful it is until its peeled off. Colour was not specified unless you specified exactly as seen.

For the door orientation, even though you never specifically demanded for any of the orientation, by given him the building plan, he should know better to install proper orientation for all your doors.

Having said that and if that is all your observations, i have the opinion that he has the responsibility of satisfying his client which he has failed. Efforts towards satisfactorily finalizing the deal by both of you should have been made if not done already. Due to transportation cost and the fact that you already have settled with the wrong orientation of doors, your allegations have become too heavy and weighty for the case at hand.

He has abused this reputable platform to engage in criminal breach of trust, online ecommerce fraud and obtaining by false pretence.

No one should patronize him or do online business with him.

His transactions is totally devoid of integrity and reaks of fraud.

Criminal breach of trust is not a case here. Fraud is also not the case here. Lack of integrity is not clear unless the doors are inferior quality.

A door supplier who doesn't know that he needs to install a left swing or right swing door is like a car dealer who doesn't know whether he is selling automatic or manual transmission. He messed up badly but its not fraud or criminal breach of trust.

If doors are not installed, you can negotiate a return of the doors and getting back correct orientation, cleanliness and colour preference. Why i said negotiation is because some of these specs are not in an agreement even though he messed up, you may need to support transportation back and forth. This is my advise.

The 3rd is a right swing turkey door. What is the difference from the order apart frm orientation. Did you specify you wanted a left swing but got delivered a right swing?

Information on your transaction are few, you need to come up with more details.

I dont doubt your transaction, however, we will like to see samples of your order and pictures of what was delivered. The two doors you posted, are they the sample pics or the delivered items? What exactly is the defects or difference.

Apart from looking for a settlement, we will also learn from this experience which is the basis of this thread.

The answer you seek is very simple and you have done more than half of the work already. You still need to complete it when you choose a tile size you want.

300x300mm tiles are 15 in a carton and 1.5m²
400x400mm tiles are 12 in a carton and 1.92m²
600x600mm tiles are 4 in a carton and 1.44m²
Etc A carton of tiles is at least 1m² and at most 2m².

If for example you are using 400x400mm and using the same type for all bathrooms, total cartons is 14.4/1.92=7.5cartons

Alternatively, you can use area of a single tile then find the number of pieces. 300x600 is 0.18m².

14.4/0.18=80pieces if a carton contains 8 pieces, 80/8= 10cartons

I can go on and on. The problem is that each professional does not want to limit himself to his professional limits. I met an architect who is so conversant with Orion which is a structural design software. Why does he use it when it is not his discipline. It is not to gain knowledge only, it is to make money of an architect as well as a structural engineer. This guarantees that he can be a jack of all trades and master of none while making twice as much money. The problem is that he cannot sign or seal the design under his name. Who takes structural responsibility of the design?

An architect doing structural design is not just criminal, it is fraud. What i have never seen is a civil engr do is using archi cad or similar architectural responsibilities.

Needless to say, I dont blame the professionals who encroach on each other, it is the construction industry that has not spelled the boundaries and enforced it. It s currently a free for all.

The main problem is the way Muslims give birth, they do it for political reasons using religion as a cover meanwhile impoverishing the nation.
