tightpussy156:Its not good to generalize that all Nigerian used cars are bad. Your co worker just got a bad deal. Years ago, me and my co worker got the same amount of money, we both got Naija used cars, he got a 2002 Corolla and I got a 2003 Accord. His was cheaper and so he thought he got a better deal. Within a year he changed all 4 shocks twice and still had shock problems. Within 5 years he refurbished his car twice, i painted once on purchase. 6 years later, his car is worth crap but mine can be sold at even more than i bought it. He boasted then that he can go 600km on half tank, i didnt care. He just got a bad deal but thought Toyota was all that he needed and he will not have problems. Another friend seeing how i got a good deal enlisted me to get him a good deal too. He wasn't as patient as i wanted him to be, fell for another friend's dealership scheme. Since our other friend knew we where looking for a car he brought an offer directly to our friend, i was only invited to test drive and give my friend a recommendation when a friend is the buyer and a friend is the seller. I felt my friend cornered himself and i tried to be unbiased. I didnt like the deal but saying it was difficult. The deal was made but it turn out to be a bad one. There were obvious engine trouble, we never overcame the troubles even after an expensive engine swap. Like the car was jinxed, a perfect engine just broke a conrod on very high speed and demolished the engine. The car is like scrap today. I bought my mum a Naija used on this Nairaland. Almost 2 years now, front shocks, serpentine belt, brake master and conrod bearing are the only works done. This car has relieved my car of the trips and does most of our trips now due to fuel economy. As far as buying cars is concerned, there are no bad naija used cars, there is only bad deals. As long as its a good deal, you pay for what you can afford. If your friend had bought that car for 500k and used 900k to put it in great condition, he got a good deal but he bought at 1.7m and used 900k to put it in good condition, he just got a bad deal. Don't blame Naija used cars. |
biosilicon:Even the BMW is reliable. Infact, even Keke is reliable. |
DonX001:Let me tell you something. Most toks you see with less than 80k or less are salvaged. The ones you see 80-100k clean title are the normal ones Americans sell off to avoid expensive turn around maintenance. Most cars specify complete maintenance at 100k. The work includes, spark plugs, all fluids in the car, including brake and clutch hydraulics, clutch, fuel pump, timing belt, valve clearance, catalytic converter and a host of others. They preempt this mileage and avoid the cost by trading off for a brand new car instead. A very few will do the maintenance and cross the mileage while the least will not do anything at all. It means i will prefer to buy a 150k clean title than buy a 50k salvaged. 200k car is an evidence of good maintenance but a 50 salvaged is a 50-50 risk. |
Bayur01:Your choice. We all make our choices. |
Bayur01:You mean if you see a used car, perfect 1st body and paint, sound engine, perfect suspension, neat interior but 300k miles you wont buy it? Or are you saying its impossible? |
biosilicon:I am very sure i didnt say Benz is an unreliable car. What am saying is, reliability is relative. You have to put one car against another. On reliability, Lexus vs Benz, Lexus wins On performance, Lexus vs Benz, Benz wins The fact that Lexus won reliability against Benz does not mean Benz is totally unreliable or that Lexus is totally non performing. On reliability Benz vs BMW, i say Benz wins. So this means that reliability or performance is simply relative. My point basically is that when you combine reliability and performance, you will have to compromise on each of them. Among your list of Cars, BMW is the best performance car but the least reliable. Eliminating it from your list means you have compromised performance for reliability. To get a car that is both reliable and performing, you rate the cars according to performance side by side as you rate the cars on reliability. Score them 5 as best to 1 as worst. Add the score on both list and the car with the highest points is your choice. Let me do it for you Performance BMW 5 Benz 4 Audi 3 Lexus 2 Infinity 1 Reliability Lexus 5 Infinity 4 Benz 3 Audi 2 BMW 1 Total Lexus 7 Benz 7 BMW 6 Infinity 5 Audi 5 Your choice is between the Benz and Lexus. You still have to finally decide whether you want reliability or performance. |
biosilicon:What is perform and what is performance? Have i not said if it is performance i choose Benz? Reliability is different. |
biosilicon:Reliability is a single word to describe cars that tolerate abuse. Reliability is relative. If you ask me, which is more reliable between the 3 series and E class on your list, i would say E class. E class vs Lexus, i would say Lexus. If you talk performance, i would reverse the list in the same order. If you mix reliability and performance, then you turn the list on its head. You will need to drop your performance standards as well as your reliability standards as a compromise. Thats why i prefer you first get priorities right. Reliability and performance cannot be both priorities at the same time. If you priorities reliability, i choose Lexus. If you choose performance Benz is my choice. These choice is among the 5 options you gave.. |
HeavenlyBang:You dont believe there are cars at 260k miles that are more reliable than others at 100k miles. There are cars that at 300k miles, an engine swap can take them to 500k if you hold on long enough. The problem is most people would upgrade before they use a single car for 200k miles. I bought my car at 100k 2013 and clocked 200k 2019 2 weeks ago (see pix below), do you think i will still be driving this same car at 300k if i can afford a change? There are same cars like mine which are 100k but are not 50% as good as mine. There are others at 250k to 300k that are still better than mine. Am sure Piyke's car has received extensive oem parts than mine and i know he clocked 200k miles before mine, which in your opinion has more value at point of sale? Mileage is not everything, the physical state of the car is better than what the mileage tells you.
|
biosilicon:3) My concern is that you mixed up 2 words. When you dont care about maintenance cost you seem to say you dont care about reliability, but you want a reliable car. Thats confusing for me. Reliability? Japanese Performance? German Your choice is obvious since you dont care about fuel efficiency nor maintenance cost, Benz should match your performance needs, Lexus your reliability needs. |
Calculating:When he knows that the lowest he could get is a minister in the next cabinet. |
dre11:I knew Kaduna wont be among since he has backlog of gratuity and pension running into 4 or more years. He has retired more civil servants in less than 4 years than the previous 10 years and has not paid a single person any entitlement. Kaduna state civil servants receive the least salary in the entire country. A director in the ministry of education receives just 120k. Most directors have over 25yrs of service and you receive 120k? Its just unbelievable. |
tungamaje:Tungamaje is a drinking spot, i see you may be well aware of the area. Back to the main discussion, i believe you know what is going on. I just do not understand your motive by your comment. Initially, the term Fulani herdsmen was used but frowned upon since the president himself is fulani and the security issues cannot be generalized as a Fulani problem. The mainstream media where banned from using Fulani and the name became simply herdsmen to point towards those who where in the bush. Truth be told, the armed robbery and kidnapping rings are basically Fulani men by ethnicity. You cant deny it. Besides calling them Fulani or herdsmen what other name do you think is suitable. Edo women are known for prostitution in Italy, i have not seen an Edo person denying it. Why does the Fulani complain when the Fulani kidnappers are refered to as what they truly are? The Edo people resorted to sensitization and the menace has reduced but the Fulani instead of making attempts at self cleansing, are denying their own. If 2 out of my 10 children are armed robbers and kidnappers, i wont blame anyone who says my family is that of armed robbers and kidnappers. I cant deny they are my children when they answer my family name. Call a spade a spade. Criminal is a generic name and should not be used for the Kaduna kidnappers which are entirely fulani. |
DaniellaDokubo:Your post had me going back to view the design again. I must say i saw more problems. That the first floor is 19750mm means that your building cannot fit into any type of half plot. The biggest half plot is 18x18m, you cannot possibly overshoot your plot with your first floor. Secondly, 1st floor length minus ground floor is your overhang. 19750-14500=5250. Infact, lets remove the additional overhang of the balcony which is 450, we are left with 4800. This is for both over hangs of front and back, 2400 is each over hang. A 2400mm loaded cantilever is just not practicable in this case. Thirdly, lastly and most importantly, because i looked into dimensions, i found a bigger problem. This design will pose a structural design problem. Even though i did not completely analyze the design, i already concluded that internal partition walls of the ground floor are not symmetrically aligned to the first floor. The result is that the 1st floor partition walls would be built on slabs with not direct beam or column support. If the beams and columns are introduced as per correct design, the beams and columns would litter the ground floor at odd places. Would you want a column at the middle of the sitting room or dining room? Have a look at how large if put together, the sitting room, dining room and staircase area is with no walls. How is the 1st floor going to be supported without a beam or a column? |
DaniellaDokubo:1. External doors should not be placed directly on external walls without a porch. Both front and back doors if not very good sealed doors will allow rain storm water in to the house. These doors will also deteriorate from rain and sun. I suggest you ditch the ante room in favour of a porch. You can also afford to pull the external kitchen door inwards by 1m creating a tiny 1x1m porch. 2. Half a plot is not recommended. A 50x50ft half plot will not work. A 60x60 will be manageable if offset regulations are not applied. Parking space will be a constraint. 3. You may have to deck a portion of your roof for overhead water tank. 4. You may have to install roof gutters to avoid problems with neighbors. Thats because your offset will be small and your roof runoff may overshoot the fence. |
dakpemien:Basically yes. A name for each physically different model. 1990-1993 Halla 1994-1995 (America) Bullet 1994-1995 (Europe) Bulldog/Nobless 1996-1997 (America) Academy (won an award) 1996-1997 (Europe) Bulldog/Tiger face 1998-2002 (America) Baby boy (the movie)/Hennessy 1998-2002 (Europe) Adidas 2003-2005 End of Discussion or 'End' 2006-2007 Discussion continues or DC 2008-2012 Evil spirit/Scatter All these are Honda accords. The only Civic i know with a name is the 2door hatchback 1994-1996, i cant recall the name. |
Samad805:In Abj, mechanics and part sellers call it Honda Scatter. |
I have done RCT on my upper left canine. Broke it opening a bottle cap. Years later tooth became temp sensitive and changed colour. |
Midastorch:Please tell them. Am tired of PDP saying, "I started this or that". How many times was the 2nd Niger bridge awarded with no stone put on ground. Come to Abuja and see roads that were abandoned since Objs 1st tenure being completed. It is the will to see completed projects that i admire Buhari not awarding projects here and there that will be abandoned just like PDP had been doing. |
GCFR696:Mechanics call it raising sensor while is name is VTEC spool valve assembly. Its a common issue. It causes limb mode (engine speed limited to under 3000rpm). It is located behind the top cylinder to the left of the exhaust manifold. The issue is not a straight forward one that i can give you a solution. There are 2 electrical connectors, one for oil switch (right) and the other to the solenoid (left). The one for the solenoid is the affected one. Try to make sure there is good connection or the wire is not cut as the first solution attempt. If it doesn't work, a mechanic needs to remove the assembly, inspect the spool filter for dirt and wash the spool with fuel. Reinstall and try again, if it doesnt work, replace. Make sure the spool gasket isn't dry, that place is notorious for leakage due to high pressure engine oil.

prodigyhenry:What will you do? |
prodigyhenry:Saying trash has to stop from you. Hope you noticed how Real madrid turned to trash after Ronaldo left. At least Barca still has Messi. |
idtwo:A 5w30 is a multi grade oil. This means that the oil has 2 temperature performance levels of low 5w (0w to 20w) and high 30 (20 to 50). The fact that Nigeria does not have such cold temps for the 5w does not mean that the entire oil is not valid. The high temp grade of 30 is most important since a car would eventually heat up in less than 20minutes of cold start to between 80-100°c and stay there as long as the engine is running even if the ambient temperature is -50°c. If the 5w is invalid in Nigeria the 30 is valid from the north pole to the south pole and every where you go on this earth. So just stick to the manufacturers spec. |
mycar:The e result cannot invalidate the official lawful result. Not court would cancel election when the official results is undisputed. The only way to dispute the official results is by disputing other election materials and figures from the official results but not an e result which by law is non existent. It is most unfortunate how lawyers mislead their clients and the public just to make money. This part of Atiku's suit will not see any light of day. |
rotadota:Have you tried Anusol? |
ubev01:You've not heard of Jumia Global before? The phone i am typing from is Xiaomi MI5 from Jumia Global. It takes longer to arrive but its not from "hustlers" as you call it.
|
Kaykerry:It has, its just takes more time since it goes off shore and back. Besides, their quality is so high that you wont get problems out of the box or soon afterwards. |

Kenturkey048:Who were the active coup plotters? Who were the victims? Are you familiar with theses names, "Chukwuma Kaduna Nzeogwu and Emmanuel Ifeajuna" who were the coup leaders. They eliminated the Prime minister and every Senior military officer around Ironsi including their wives only stopping at Aguiyi Ironsi. They practically cleared at path for 1 person. On thing you dont understand is that coup, were carried out by middle ranks of the army not senior officers. Coup that brought Gowon was plain retaliatory. Imagine that General Ironsi was the senior, the next was Lt Colonels, Ojukwu and the Gowon were next. It meant the ones in between were killed by the January 1966 coup It was the first and bloodiest coup Nigeria has ever seen and it was by Igbo's. History has that written in stone, you can only pretend not to be aware but ignorance is not an excuse. Either you find history and read or you remain ignorant of history. Lastly, Gowon became president as a junior to Ojukwu because the north had not trust for anyone from the South east due to the mistrust of the 1966 coup. Besides, Ojukwu hid himself, couse he would have been killed along with Ironsi. That trust is what the Northerners dont have over 50years after. Those soldiers did bad for the South east, Ojukwu made it worst, and the rest of Igbos still support what happened so Igbos still cant be trusted. That coup was a very bad thing and never received condemnation from the Igbo's.

Knox123:My last phone was Infinix, before the infinix was tecno and before the tecno was Samsung. I have moved on to Xiaomi. There are more Chinese brands that are comparable to Xiaomi, like Huawei, Honor, Gionee, Lenovo, oneplus, Meizu, ZTE, oppo etc If you score Infinix 80%, then Xiaomi is 120% |
iyoha240:They are miles apart. Quality Xiaomi Specs Xiaomi Display Xiaomi Battery Xiaomi UI Xiaomi Global Support Xiaomi Local support Infinix The difference is that Xiaomi has no African support making it cumbersome to access warranty service or direct manufacturer support. Edit I forgot the most important thing Price Xiaomi |
Racoon:You sound like you have selective amnesia of Nigeria's history. You are quick to point a finger at the North but have forgotten that the South east orchestrated the first coup in Nigeria's history. They did it mercilessly, killing any Northerner in their way to install Aguiyi Ironsi and his south east crew. South east still carries that mistrust on their backs till date. Those band of south east soldiers are responsible to what befell the region but after all these years, the south easterners are unrepentant and still have refused to politically align with either the North or the South west leading to the political island they sit on today. Even the South south they align with, they have done so to keep them politically enslaved to the south east but the south south have found their own voice, thank God. |
