CultureRe: Is Igbo A Relevant Language? by Afam4eva(m): 11:34pm On Oct 10, 2013
Igbo language is not relevant or it's relevant is minute. It's not until we make concerted efforts to make it relevant that it will be that. How do you explain a situation whereby you're considered educated and schooled is you can't speak your native language. So, it means by promoting education, we'll de-promoting our language because the people are being educated with English and not Igbo.

Eze Promoe: Fluency is not actually the issue but will they turn up when called for a set?
A lot of them don't really care about the Igbo language but would turn up if the money is right. This is what has been plaguing anything IGBO. The people are always after what they can get personally and not what they can help the community(Igbo) achieve.

I have made it a rule never to speak to any Igbo person that can't speak Igbo and is proud of it. I don't want any form of inferiority in my life. I almost slapped a woman and i regret not slapping her that i heard talking about how allowing her children speaking Igbo will spoil their tongue. These are the 1diotic elements we're breeding. These are the same people that can deny their roots. They're the same people that can deny their father and mother if need be. I think a law should be passed by the government to make it compulsory for people to be able to understand their native turn if they must seek employment in Nigeria. These 1diocy has to be curbed.

PoliticsRe: Ngozi Okonjo Iweala For Governor Of Delta State 2015 by Afam4eva(m): 9:01pm On Oct 10, 2013
solomon111: Utomi should be the next governor.
I would like to see him practicalize his economic theories in real-life.
Unfortunately, the dude wants to fly before he learns to walk.
He should take a cue from Rochas who has tried his hands in the presidential election but ended up settling for a state Governorship position. I actually think these people are more needed in the states and Local governments because that's where their effectiveness will be felt the most.
PoliticsRe: Senators Call For Resignation Of Stella Oduah by Afam4eva(m): 8:55pm On Oct 10, 2013
dbride: YOU said this? YOU reasoned like this? Stella Oduah has just ONE ministry, GEJ has so many. The ministers are supposed to be his eyes over the different ministeries assigned to them. They have full authority. Waoh, can't believe you made that comment. You should understand how organisations function. Free your mind from that tribal bondage and you will reason like you used to. Religion and Tribe truly are demons that attack the real human mind with blindness. Think about it bros, I know you now, wetin come happen...obu zi kwa ngi... na wao
Are you aware that apart from NCAA, there are other sub-agencies that fall under the purview of the Aviation ministry. SO. it's not only Jonathan that has so many ministries to oversee. Commonsense dictates that if a particular sub-section of a ministry or agency is not living up to expectation, you take it out on the person directly involved in that sub-section and if it persists, you can take it out on the person at the top echelon which in this case will be the ministers. But fortunately or unfortunately, the minister is not responsible for the appointment of the NCAA boss and if anything the blame should rest on the person that appoints him before the Aviation minister.
CultureRe: Delta Igbo, Bendel Igbo: What Does That Even Mean. by Afam4eva(op): 3:27pm On Oct 10, 2013
Idun'oba ehis:
point of correction, among all the northern tribes, it's only the Idomas and Tivs that don't speak hausa in their communities. Any Tiv person speaking hausa must've learned it outside, just as Igbo man speaking hausa too. Secondly, they don't bear hausa names neither are they assimilated by hausa in any way. People call them hausa just because they are from northern nigeria. They now accept the hausa tag not becos they like it, but becos they know that no matter how they tried to prove they are not hausa the people will not change their stance becos they have already made up their mind that they are hausa, so they pretend they dont mind, but they do mind. That is how it is with some Ikas that do not say they are not Igbo when people say they are Igbos.
So, why are you trying to compare the TIVS and the Ikas? The TIVS don't speak Hausa as their native language but the Ikas do. The Ikas bear Chukwuemeka but the TIVS don't bear Hausa names.

Garri the 1st: You Afam are you from Delta?? You've been posting all over the thread and nobody has asked you if you're from Delta so why are you concerned about where the poster is from??

@Topic::
1. She is eligible to contest but she seems to be too sophisticated for Delta Politics. Especially as she will likely join PDP if she wants to contest. She isn't a Politician, she is a technocrat and I doubt if she has the "ruggedness" to participate in Delta Politics.

2. IT IS NOT THE TURN OF ANIOMA TO RULE!!! I wonder why Ibo people always want "awuf"..... Why not present a credible, tested and trusted candidate that can win elections in all corners of the state?? Why must you cry and whine for a position your numerical strength can help you achieve.
If "small" Itsekiris" can govern Delta state for 8 years why then are Ibos unable to organise and strategise to get the Governorship in 2015??
What is wrong in Technocrats becoming politicians? Isn't that what we should be encouraging. Are you satisfied with the likes of Uduaghan and Ibori?

As far as rotation goes, i'm speaking based on PDP rotation formula which musn't be followed anyways. Let the best man for the job take it. I think the likes of utomi, Iweala, Ovia are more than qualified.

We all know that what has led to Anioma not producing a governor because they are not seen as core Deltans by the other parts of Delta state. Despite the fact that in Delta Central and Delta south, you have the likes of Urhobo, Isoko, Ijaw, Itsekiri etc, all these people are somehow connected culturally and socially unlike their Igbo counterpart in Delta North. So, an Itsekiri man will rather vote an Urhobo, Isoko or Ijaw than voting an Igbo man and vice versa.

kofoshi: The question begging for an answer is: will core Deltans ala Urhobo, Isoko, Ishekiri who collectively make up the bulk of Delta electorate vote for her? Her recent fraternisation with her Igbo kins across the Niger would suggest that she has her ethnic group more at heart than that of her state so other bonafide Deltans might be worried.

Is she the best candidate for the job? My opinion is that she is most certainly not when gauged by her performance in the central.
And who made those people you mentioned core Deltans? And what's wrong with Ngozi Okonjo Iweala associating with her ethnic group? Does being a Deltan stop her from being Igbo? And what's even your business about who she chooses to identify with? Are you from Delta state?

As a kid,I still remember very mean guests who not only come empty handed when they visit but would still take from us children. eg Them go follow us dey drag biscuit, sweet wey momsie buy us. Sec5: Does that qualify her to run for governorship seat in Delta?
I don't know what the constitution says about that but she won't be the first person to do that. The wife of the former PDP chairman, Ahmadu Ali's wife contested in her native Asaba(Anioma) to become a senator.

Okija_juju: The Fola guy in charge of the NCAA was appointed by the FG and not Madam Stella..
This even further exonerates the Minister of Aviation. I thought the Minister is the one who appoints the NCAA boss.
PoliticsRe: Senators Call For Resignation Of Stella Oduah by Afam4eva(m): 12:12pm On Oct 10, 2013
Italiano1: Afam that analogy is not bright.

The president appoints ministers to oversee specific departments on his behalf, if he feels they are not doing a good job, he can sack them or in this case, the senate can call for the impeachment of a minister performing below par.

The culpability of the President in this case is his lack of leadership skills, ingenuity and perception in appointing ministers who do not have the needed skills, qualifications and experience to oversee their departments.

But ultimately, any member of the House can initiate impeachment proceedings against the President if they can gather the minimum number of signatories.
THis same thing can be said about the NCAA boss who was appointed to oversee a specific department that deals directly with what people are accusing the Aviation minister of. I'm not saying either the Aviation minister or even the NCAA boss should be fired. I'm just addressing the hypocrisy of some Nigerians. I'm even forced to agree with Odua's assertion to some extent which asserts that air crashes are "an act of God". This simply means that they can be a natural occurrence because even in advanced countries of the world where attention to detail is worshiped, planes crash. So, in as much as a little more effort from people at authority will help reduce the occurrence of crashes, they should not be sacked solely for that afterall cars crash all the time and at no time has the Ministers of Transport been sacked or has anyone called for their sack. The Aviation ministry goes beyond just airlines.
PoliticsRe: Senators Call For Resignation Of Stella Oduah by Afam4eva(m): 12:04pm On Oct 10, 2013
hercules07: You are now being ridiculous, impeachment is a legal process and the offenses are laid down in the law of the land, if plane crashes is one of the listed offenses, then the President should face the music. The Ministers are appointed by the president, he can hire and fire them, one of the reasons for firing people is incompetence, incompetence can be through direct actions or indirectly.
Impeachment can come if the president has violated the laid down rules as stipulated in the constitution or has performed below par and the aviation ministry is under his purview. So, if you blame the Aviation minister, why not the president? Why Odua and not the NCAA boss? The NCAA was created for a particular purpose which makes it not directly under the Aviation ministry.
