larride: I think what we need is a total orientation of our mentality, let us task ourselves to start taking responsibility from our house to our LGA to our State then to the FG, let start holding our leaders responsible for their action or inaction starting from the local government area. You see a LG chairman in less than 6month driving exotic cars and living a life of luxury and his constituency is in shambles but we won't say anything because he's our friend and then we start blaming the State Gov or FG like they have eyes everywhere.
The message is simple, Make Yourself Responsible, Hold your leaders responsible and accountable then we will see a drastic turn around in this country. The government is a reflection of the people and the people are a reflection of what the government have become. The Nigerian mentality is a chronic disease that i believe the government can help solve. People don't just wake up and become responsible or good unless they're made to do so. |

spade: Boy, you're a rettarrd. I never even start and you don the hyperventilate. Like I said, I'm compressing them to fit the upload limit, and it will be done on a brand new thread promising nothing less than 25 pages, starting from Ekwulobia, to the mud-ravaged, pollution-devoured mosquito headquarters known as Onitsha, down to the utterly wretched embarrassment Awka. They're all coming.
And for the benefit of doubt, the pictures have their TIME-STAMPS on them, telling you the exact dates, and thankfully, many of them feature Ifeanyi Uba's campaign posters, so you'll know they're recent.
Remember that erosion-ravaged bridge conneting Ekwulobia to the upper parts of Anambra? You go see all of them on that thread.
He who lives in a glass house must not throw stones. No fear, you hear?
Just watch out for the thread then we'll let viewers decide. Pls, create a seperate thread for it in order not to derail this one. This thread should be about Imo and Rochas. |

texanomaly: I'm actually American. Because of the university and the many hospitals and doctors offices, we have a large community of foreigners. We have a few international markets because of this. Anything they don't stock, I'm sure they can get. That's the thing about Texas, the people are pretty friendly. Especially in the 'villages'. I remember you now. You're an American. |

Phema: What is wrong with these places? There's nothing wrong with them. It's just that i assume that Nigerians would live in popular American towns. It's like someone coming to Nigeria and going to live in Damaturu or Kebbi instead of Lagos., Abuja, PH, Enugu, Kano etc. |

No it is not one of those places. Texas Tech University is here. Google it. It is a rapidly growing city. I just googled for the city and it seemed like a a peaceful, calm and liveable town. Btw, how do you Nigerian find these places that seem off the radar. There's nowhere in world you don't find Nigerians. I won't be surprised if there are Nigerians who like in Omaha, Nebraska, Maine or even Alaska |

Thanks in anticipation Getting an f1 visa is very easy as long as you have your documents complete. I have helped people process there admission before. The very important thing would be your financial statement. One way not to refused is if the financial statement is yours or belongs to someone with the same surname as you. The embassy wants to be sure of your financial capability before giving you a VISA. |

babyosisi: I want to correct a notion here Afam The problem is not the population of blacks there but the type of blacks We are currently house hunting and all the houses that had black neighbors scored highly on my list because they had to have good jobs to live in the neighborhoods we were looking at I am not afraid to live with fellow black people around me if they are in the same income bracket as myself. They would be professionals just like us. There are neighborhoods in atlanta area with almost everyone black I have visited some But these are areas where the average family income is 100k plus so they will be good.
Rule of thumb to know if your neighborhood is good or not Check the school ratings The good neigborhoods have the schools with the highest ratings and highest test scores That is what also keeps the property value high You're right about the quality of blacks. I've heard and read that a lot of the blacks in Atlanta unlike some of their folks in places like Baltimore and Detroit and Rich and educated. From what i learned, Atlanta probably is the most progressive black city in America. |

ogugua88: Why are you giving our brother bad advice? He touch your sister? Lol.
There are Nigerians in California, but as you can see, we're a very large (long) state. Los Angeles is 6-8 hours away from both San Francisco and Sacramento. If you're coming from San Diego, add another 2-3 hours. The east badmouth us and we badmouth them. Baltimore is crap (but your family must be doing okay for them to still live there lol). I hate Texas (suya shops at every corner and a lot of them there are WAY too chummy with rogue politicians and businessmen in Nigeria; I don't trust them). The Nigerians I've met in Georgia aren't bad at all, same goes for New York, Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan. Different locations attract different people at the end of the day. I don't care too much for Los Angeles myself, yet I would choose Los Angeles over the central/east any day.
San Francisco is divine. I'm there almost on a monthly basis. It's only good for visiting though, unless you have (a lot of) money. A small studio (one room) apartment is at least $1800/month. If you want an apartment with a proper bedroom and such, at least $2500/month on average. They have amazing public transportation like the east coast, but in terms of finances, you're much better off in the east. California and New York are two states I rule out for anyone coming, most especially if they don't have anywhere to stay.
Hypothetically, if you were to stay with me (Ada no vex) or in my town, you wouldn't be able to survive without a car. I've only been to San Diego once (2008), so CFCbobo could tell you more. This is really incisive. Thanks. At the end of the day it's difficult for a new comer to survive without having someone to squat with for some time. I would have really fancied SF or NYC(as per big city things) if not for the cost. But somehow i'll end up in these expensive cities. I no go go Wyoming or North Dakota because i wan live for America. |
