Hi all, Sorry for my absence will try to update the front ASAP. Today I want to share a story about a lady i saw @ my clinic, hoping this will help somebody somewhere, someday. Well today was a sad day @ the clinic, I want to tell you about a woman lets call her "SJ". I only meet her on two occasions and if someone told me what i found out today i would have said they are lieing. So Back in mid July SJ came to us for an ultrasound scan. She came late after we had closed, the midwife had called me that day and asked us to stay late so that we can see her because it was an emergency and so we did. As with every procedure in my clinic i made it mandatory that we check the blood pressure of everybody, I checked SJ that day and her bp was very high. I asked her to pass urine so i can check for proteins and glucose, she had just went to the washroom and could not urinate again. @ that time wecharged a small fee for the service. SJ was about 28 weeks pregnant. I went home and somehow was touched by SJ, I decided to call the midwife that referred her to us and tell her to send SJ back to us I will do the Urinalysis for free. I think it was the bus fare to get to our place that stopped looking back at it now. A few days later i called the midwife asked her why SJ has not come to us she said she passed on the message to her so hopefully she will come soon. Anyhow yesterday being Ausust 22nd in the morning the midwife calls and says she is sending a customer and to tell the doctor to check her over well. I said ok. Went into the office and saw SJ, i confirmed it was indeed her and asked her why she never came back to us for the follow up. I told my nurse to do the bp it was 186/117 OMG i said in my mind i then told her we have to do uine test today she was refusing at first then i told her it was free and she reluctantly agreed. Tested her urine and it was (++++) keep in mind the test strip only goes up to (+++) I said OMG this women is very sick. We did the scan and luckily the baby was still alive, but her amniotic fluid was decreased. I called the midwife and told her this woman is sick the baby is also breeched and she needs to transfer her to the teaching hospital immediately. I thought that was the end of it, only for the midwife to call me today to tell me SJ had and her unborn baby had died. Wanted you pregnant ladies to know not to take this high blood pressure issue for granted. Dont brush it off as a small thing because its not. If you have pregnant friends that say their bp is high advise them to register or go to the teaching hospital in their area's. If no one else does it lets start to spread awarness of the deadly condition in pregnancy, it has to start from somewhere in this Nigeria let this be one of the starting points. Thanks for reading |
congrats to all that have delivered for me oooo, its been pretty hectic i will try to update the front page int he coming week. Very busy putting things together for my return home. |
Sagamite: I keep on saying it. I keep on telling people.Saga you making the most sense on this thread ooo, your realistic and have knowledge on what it takes to survive in the "real world". |
Seun: @Sisi_Kill: Your mum was simply abusive, and you will abuse your children the same way. It explains a lot of things.hmmm i could not agree more |
@ ronkp & kobojunkie Well i agree that we train our children how to live indeed, so i wont train my daughter to behave like a western girl in Nigeria, it wont be to her advantage. So my beleif is yes when in Rome do like the Roman's. I am not saying i beleive in this practice but i cant change the societal norms so i have choosen to adapt. When i return home to Canada I know my role over their and i then adapt to life in Western world. If your mind will allow you to understand a person can adapt to a role that some may preceive to be depreiving, self hating, low self esteem etc. But the person can actually know themselves well enough to know its a role then are taking on and it in no way defines their worth/self value. |
what a story stay out of Nigeria and put yourslef together in the USA |
OMG i would like 10 minutes with that woman alone, poor baby girl. |
Looks like i came into this discussion way to late, to many pages to read so ill just comment on the title. IMO self esteem and self respect are pretty much one in the same. Now, I beleive everygirl should hold those attributes in them, from childhood into adulthood/motherhood. The problem comes in with the enviornment she is raised in. For example how a girl presents her self in Canada will be different from how she would behave in Nigeria. For example if you talk to a 16 year old typical Canadian girl, she would probably say she doesn't need a man and marriage is not so important, she doesnt need to cook well and if she gets married and it does not work out then divorce is always an option in her eyes. Lets then look at the 16 year old Nigerian girl, who has been told all her life she has to be a good cook and obedient to her husband. Installing those values her western counterpart has will definetly lead to remaining a spinster. Nigerian men IN NIGERIA generally want an obidient wife someone that listens and wont give any trouble sort of like a brain dead human being they can control. At the end of the day their is nothing wrong with empowering young girls for success but we have to be careful of their living enviornment before we prepare them for failure and troublesome relationships with men. If i have a daughter and raise her in Nigeria i will definetly teach her self value and worth, I will let her see with her eyes the cultral and gender inequities that exist in Nigeria. I wont raise her to feel less than a human being. My daughter will know the culture and thought process is very primative and should not be in any way her core beleife at the same time she will know about women's roles in developed countries and that is the attitude i would like for her to employ.I want her to be balanced so wherever she lives she can handle herself accordingly without selling out her self worth/esteem. |
hannydarl: Potty trained my son at 2yrs old when he could say pee pee and poo. It took me 3days. Just wait for him to want to poo or pee and shout no no no, Good boys pee pee in potty potty. It was in summer. Cos he had to play around the house without his pant on so I can see when pee pee is comming.Wow on a little boy what an acheivement. We are about to start on my son he just turned 2 not sure he is ready yet, but im gonna give it a try. Great thread btw. |
kemidebbie: @agiboma congt, pls how did u meditated?Well i hope you dont laugh but here is how i do it: First i imagine the healing light of g-d the creator passing through my body starting from the crown of my head, healing all negative thoughts, passing down to my throat and also healing all imperfections, preceeding down to my chest and also healing it, then my womb i usually spend a lot of time on this part of my body, i see the light shining brightly on my womb and healing it and breaking every bondage that is preventing me from getting pregnany. I see the healing light of g-d being my surgeon and making my womb brand new and very fertile. I then see the light going to my legs and then the sole of my feet. Secound after i meet with my hubby i see his sper.m meeting my egg and the egg fertalizing and then implanting on the wall of my uterus i then see the baby growing inside me to full term and then giving birth to a healthy baby. Thant is how i meditate for fertility ![]() |

^^^^ No offence taken. But lets be clear on this PPROM issue, my stance is that medical professionals in Nigeria as especially too quick to throw in the towel and tel women they should terminate the pregnancy in issues of PPROM arising in mid secound trimester, for example 17 week, 19 weeks etc. Their is a frequent poster on here who shared her story of PPROM in Secound trimester and she was also told to terminate the pregnancy, she did not listen to medical advice and carried her son to term. If it can happen to her in this Nigeria then it can also happen for someone else. I am well aware of the risk to both mom and baby when PPROM arises early, but we are not g-d and miracles can happen and it did for a poster on this thread. I hope many others will read her story and look towards her positive outcome for encouragement. In my life i have 2 frineds that waters broke @ 17 weeks with a single baby and 19 weeks with twins, the babies where born early and spent time in NNICU but they are alive today. All the things you said about complications and developmental delays etc are true, but i am here to tell you that is not the case for everyone. Yes i dont know the circumstances behind the delivery of Eggy babies but ii feel the need to share this information perhapes it will help anther person in the same circumstances make an informed decision. @Eeggy the only thing i can think of is to take progesterone up until term @ 37 weeks next pregnancy. I had anotherfriend that had PPROM @ 27 weeks and her secound pregnancy she was overdue, perhapes it can help you. |
eggy: Hope i wont spoil the mood? anyways,Sorry for your loss, g-d is faithful and will soon fill your heart with joy and the sounds of little feet running all over your house. The answer to your question is not simply. I guess you are located in Nigeria, where medical know how is not so advanced. Anyway even though the water has broken the babies can still be alive for the fact that cervix did not open i cant understand why they dlivered and induced labour. I know many women that had their water break at 17 weeks, 19 weeks with twins also and the babies are both alive today. This happened in Canada, they had a "dry birth". PPROM is hard to explain the only prevention is possibly taking progesterone supplements next pregnancy to avoid it. In any pregnancy if the water breaks in secound trimester the mother is started on antibiotics to prevent infection and usually placed on bed rest. I am afraid the medical advice you got to induce labour was not good advice at all. When they scanned the babies after the water broke did they have a heart beat?nIf they had a heart beat you should have been told about your options. How was your wife's bp during the pregnancy? remember every pregnancy is different. |
Sagamite: Honestly, I can't really judge. There are too many dumb arse people on this Earth.hmmmm |
^^^^^ LOL @ op talk to him when he has calmed down |
SOOOOOO QUIET HELLLLO OUT THERE |
Well i would love my hubby to be in the room with me next time around, even though its gonna be a CS, the support would mean alot. |
well tessy it depends on their age, my son is 2 and i refer to his private parts with words such as pee pee, as he gets older i will change my language. The earlier you start them off on identifying their body parts the better IMO. |
well i just signed up and tbh i was gonna buy a data plan, but now this is gonna save me money, im so excited OMG. CIA i could care less i aint hiding anything ![]() |
wow have not been on her in a while, hellllo to all the new folks @ beleiver please continue to post. Some folks lack understanding at times, and when you have attained a level of maturity that superseeds their level of understanding it becomes difficult for them to understand you so they talk nonsense. I get a lot of those responses in the family section of NL . Your hubby sounds like a great man and g-d will see you both through. I had a midwife come into my clinic a few days ago she is in her early 40's and she came in for a scan i thought it was for fibroids or something like that. I asked her if she has any kids, she said no. Finally i began to type her report and saw she was 5 weeks pregnant. I told her congratulations, she said this has never happened to her in her life befor. First pregnancy @ 40 years plus. So g-d time is the best time and i know you herd it befor but stay encouraged. I also a firm beleiver in going to motherless baby homes and sowing a seed there, buy the kids a pack of pampers. The universe has a funny way of giving back to us what we put out. ![]() |
@ GB please also take the time to mourn with your wife the loss of your child. she may also feel a little "blue" from the decrease of the pregnancy hormone. I lost a baby @ a similar gestation a few years back and i must say that i did not feel "blue" at all it was more or less a full blown depression so please look for signs in your wife. Both of you have been through a lot and just take it slowly and day by day.G-d will sure;y give you a reason to smile again and the sounds of happy little feet running around the house is your families portion. |
