Politics › Re: New Burial Law In Anambra State: Obiano Gives Assent by ajl: 3:53pm On Jun 04, 2020

”No wake keep of any kind for any deceased person, while religious activity for the deceased person prior to the burial must end by 9:00pm; and there must be no food, drink, life band or cultural entertainers during and after religious activity for the deceased person.

Similarly, all burial ceremonies must be for one day and the burial services must start not later than 9:00 am and must not last more than two hours, just as no preserved corpse must be exposed for more than 30 minutes from the time of exposition.

It further provides that all condolence visits after any burial ceremony, must not exceed one day and no person must give the deceased person’s family a condolence gift exceeding money for one jar of palm wine, one carton of beer and one crate of soft drink

How does this concern a government. You can do whatever you wish as private citizen so far you are not disturbing anyone. Why not let communities organize themselves to make these decisions rather government trying to control people's lives excessively.

Let the so called "average Nigerians" learn to also support one another. An average Nigerian that will rather buy imported product rather than buy locally made products is also hurting himself in the longterm.

His career will soon crumble because of an unnecessary rant.I really pity him!
To pity someone who has no sense of pity for others is a waste of emotional "energy". I am not a woman but reading that "shit" hurt for the fact that someone somewhere who has been victim of rape would read it and feel so much pain. He requested for the condemnation. What he typed there suggest that he is very likely to have forced himself on a woman before. Because you spent N10k on a date expecting sex in return is no justification for rape. Even a prostitute does not deserved to be raped. It's like robbing someone of her free will. How can one even enjoy sex in such situation except one is mentally deranged.

There is nothing called "Nigeria definition of rape". You follow what the law says. If it's no consexual, it is rape. Gentlemen don't force themselves on ladies. In this age of social media, it seem a lot of boys now lack the necessary social skills to approach and woo ladies. In our days, we walk up to girls to express our desires and she say no, then it is no. Too many non-courageous he-goats are walking the streets.

By the way, most Nigerian ladies do not know the difference between rape, hardsex and consensual forced sex. That is why 90% of Nigerian ladies who have had sex before always ignorantly claim to have been victims of rape at one time or the other. They always have fake stories to tell. Chasers of cheap clout.
By the time it's done to your sisters, maybe you will receive sense by then.

Holding the bible? Same thing the whiteman had in his hands to enslave millions of Africans, with the church and catholic church running plantations in the America's, and even earned compensation from their government as former slave owners. They even had bible in their hands when they came to colonise Africans destroying our culture and tradition. It's sad to say, the bible is the what they used to justify supremacy of the caucasian over blackman.

I can see everyone blaming the stupid 19yr old who attempted to blackmail a woman old enough to be his granny. But the blame should also go to the society and parents that produce such child. A society that espous dishonor more than honour in humble and indigent beginning. A society that praise thieves and arm robbers in politics and high places, and men of unknown sources of wealth. What about the parents? A well raised child would shiver on the thought of participating in evil ploys, and that alone is enough for his conscience to hold him tight.

Abroad people call me every weekend asking me to send money (not bragging). Many of them are frustrated over there. They work long hours including overtime but the government takes federal, state, city, social security, medicare, medicaid and disability taxes. On top of that, when they buy biscuit, they will still take sales tax. They pay exorbitant rent; those who "own" homes are locked in a loan repayment for 30yrs of which they still have to pay annual taxes for their house. Phone bill can cost over $60 per line, cable $120, internet $80 and they still pay tax on top of it. Burger and chips with soft drink can easily cost you $16 plus tax.

Sure some folks are making over $100,000 theoretically especially healthcare workers in expensive states like California and new York, but by the time they deduct all those taxes from their check, they are left with just $40,000. Then they still have to pay more taxes on every thing they buy. That's not life. It's like a rat wheel, oscillating but not making any progress. I have a cousin who was in the same situation in America, after 10yrs working as a social worker, he returned home and we started up a business. He still regrets all the years he spent slaving away in America. Today, he travels the world on vacation and visiting places he didn't even have time to visit when he was living abroad. It's not too late for Nigerians living abroad to return home; you can make it big here with less stress and you will extend your life span.
Some Nigerians can lie. It is easy to know when someone is lying, as the chap above. As in every parts of the world, there are the doing very good, the doing good, the doing not so good, and the I wish I did not leave Nigeria. Problem No. 1 in the West is if you do not have residency. Most immigrants go through that phase and it's often the most difficult parts of their lives because without legal residency, it is difficult to have money in your pocket.

In the West, even most cleaners have a roof over their heads. One day I had to go give money to the Mexican that usually mow my lawn and I had to drive to the address he gave me. I was expecting that it's an apartment building but rather it was a newly built house in what seem to be a medium middle class neighbourhood. That is someone working as an "ordinary" Gardner as you Nigerians tend to make humble professions look ordinary. so, that is the same "abroad you claimed you always send money to people".

Nigeria amazes me. People that can hardly use paint to demarcate road lanes will waste money to paint concrete roadside guards which painting does not serve any purpose rather than conserve the funds for future use to paint and maintain the more important road lanes. Apparently these folks don't use their head, the governor inclusive. Because, I don't see myself not asking question why the need to paint concrete rather than use the fund to maintain proper demarcation of road lanes in months or years from now. And this is a trend across the country.

Dr Adesina has a lot of dreams and accomplishments. He has done a good thing to step aside for an investigation to be carried out and hopefully he will be cleared again. I however will not buy these politically motivated support flying around. Nigeria is so terribly corrupt (courtesy of our old politicians) that even Covid funds are now being investigated and it is about time we start to raise the bar if we ever want to make significant progress.

Barrack Obama is black. He contested twice in white dominated America and won twice as president of the most powerful state on the planet. He was wise. He knew that being black will attract a lot of scrutiny so he made up his mind not to allow things that could bring him into a question, knowing that the world is by far unfair to blacks.

I hope that Dr Adesina scales through and shames his detractors and by so doing lend credence to the fact that Africans can manage ourselves. Who knows, may be this is a blessing in disguise to further shine his image and prepare him for even better leadership roles.
Leave that story about Obama. They did not allow him do 10% of what he planned to do. We all know the story. He was just figure head. Most presidents are figure heads anyway.

Nigerians dont know because our leaders are doing a good job of under-developing the country, without the white man making an effort.....

I think its our duty to open the minds of Africans, both home and diaspora to the evil machination of these imperialists- both old and new....
At least our younger generations will have a better perspective of global affairs, and wont see the white man or chinese as saviours.....
Same case with me until I left Nigeria. Most Nigerians back home are living in "darkness". Sometimes it is hard to blame them because the propaganda is masterfully delivered. More so, the eurocentric educational system left by the British that our so called leaders choose not to dismantle.

He can you say that an in-house committee that was likely superintended by one of Adeshina's lackeys was unbiased and independent

Did you even read the allegations against him before coming here to defend him blindly?

Most people who head Nigerian establishments will not survive when given opportunity to head a multinational corporation where there are strict rules of engagement

In case you don't know Adeshina was busy employing only his friends and cronies and flouting organisational procedures.

He thinks he is still in Nigeria where qualified people should only be given jobs based on man-know-man.

He was also doing the usual over-invoicing Nigerians love to do so that he can get kickbacks.

But of course you will not see that one cos you have accepted corruption a a normal thing hence your blind defence of a compatriot

Nigerians and Africans at large are always quick to play the race card whenever a leader of African extraction is called out by the west for wrongdoing...quite a shame really cos that is the reason why we are the most backward continent on the face of the planet.

I am a full-blooded Nigerian but if Adeshina is found guilty then he should be kicked out!
You are just typing nonsense. The fact that you have to state that you are a Nigeria for us to know mean you can't make reasonable comments without dissociating the fact that you are a Nigerian. Who care? You can as well be an ET. As if Adeshina has no CV or he started out in a Nigerian organization.
