If you know it is more costly to deposit or withdraw beyond the N150k mark, you will prefer your payments are not made in cash. Everyone will be encouraged to go digital in transactions. The question I ask the CPC Mallam is “What vested political interest”? Or “What vested business interest”?

In his sordid attempt to gravely misinform and misguide gullible Nigerians, Mallam El-Rufai stated that “Jonathan’s politics of deliberate division and militarization has pitted Northerners against Southerners and Christians against Muslims to the point that obtaining the cohesion and social harmony necessary for economic development will be difficult in the short and medium term”

This short statement, coming from a man who served in various capacities in Obasanjo’s government, reveals in very clear terms, the treachery and extreme capacity for evil that abounds in the minds of all those who incited ignorant Northern youths to murder, violation, slaughter more than 200 young southerners including members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the gruesome post election violence that erupted across some states and cities of Northern Nigeria.

What politics of deliberate division did President Jonathan orchestrate? Militarization of the Niger Delta by oil-thieving Northern military cartels? Or the hypnotic incitement of ignorant youths of Northern extraction? Paranoid incitement of muslims in the North against voting for a Christian?

The CPC Mallam went further to accuse President Jonathan of depleting the Excess Crude Account (ECA) without any infrastructure to show for it. He accused President Jonathan of depleting this account down to $500 million from the $6 billion that former President Yar’Adua left behind alleging that President Jonathan shared out this ECA savings account to state governors, party apparatchiks and traditional rulers to buy their support for his presidential bid!

Again, how grimly preposterous! It becomes immediately clear that Mallam Nasir El-Rufai who has served in top level government either does not have any functional knowledge of the workings of government OR harbors an intensely deep seated grudge against President Jonathan OR has just chosen to be outlandishly mischievous.

Does Mallam El-Rufai even know what the Excess Crude Account (ECA) is all about OR why it was set up in the first place?

When the ECA was set-up by President Obasanjo, it was meant to be savings against periods of sustained fall in oil prices. When there were high oil prices, it went up. However, in 2008, oil prices fell from about $147.

Clearly, for mischievous reasons, Mallam El-Rufai may have deliberately refused to realize that the Federal Government, in partnership with the various other tiers of government (states and local) jointly invested about $5.5 billion into the National Independent Power Project (NIPP). This is beside the $1 billion seed money for the take-off of the National Sovereign Wealth Fund (NSWF).

How could El-Rufai not have researched about this especially when Mallam Atiku and his goons had raised so much heat on this matter during the build-up to the 2011 elections? More especially with Finance Minister Aganga’s regular explanations at the time.

And so in his quest to further misinform the gullible, he refused to mention that in the last few months the Federal Government had been settling key legacy issues most of which had been pending for about seven years now. These included the payment of N200 billion to Power Holding Company of Nigeria, payment of N387 billion representing 53% salary increase to civil servants and the release of N87.7 billion to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in preparation for the 2011 General elections.

On the matter of national security, The President, like every other Nigerian understands the value of peace, security and the safety of life and property and so he appointed a former Deputy Chief of Defense Intelligence, Former Director of Military Intelligence (DMI), Former General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1st Division, Former Chief of Army Staff, Former Chief of Defense Staff, holder of the Corps Medal of Honor (CMH), Meritorious Service Star, Distinguished Service Star, Grand Service Star and the Recipient of President & Commander-in-Chief’s Merit Award (for best all round performance) of The National War College as well as Recipient of the Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR) national award, General Owoye Andrew Azazi as National Security Adviser.

A telecommunications service provider, MTN Communications Nigeria Limited, on Thursday in Abuja told the Justice Umaru Abdullahi panel investigating the face-off between the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Aloysius Katsina-Alu, and Appeal Court President, Justice Ayo Salami, that the contentious call log before the panel did not emanate from it.


MTN said it was duty bound to protect its customer’s confidentiality.


Giving his testimony at the panel, the company’s Senior Manager (Corporate Legal Services), Mr. Rotimi Odusola, said he could not confirm the authenticity of the contentious call log which was tendered by the petitioners.


The Justice Umaru Abdullahi panel had been charged with the responsibility of investigating an alleged perversion of justice leveled against the CJN and the alleged unethical behaviour of the as well as other Justices of the Court of Appeal who sat on both Osun and Ekiti governorship appeal panels.


The PCA and the other justices of the court of appeal were said to have engaged in telephone conversations which eventually resulted in the tribunal sacking ex-governors Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Segun Oni of Osun and Ekiti states respectively for which they were replaced by Rauf Aregbesola and Kayode Fayemi.


The call logs were supplied by the petitioners but the PCA said they were mere fabrication.


The MTN officer explained that the telecommunications company, as a policy, only provided such Call Data Records otherwise known as the call logs to only three categories of persons under a covering letter requesting for them.


They are a competent court; the law enforcement agencies and the subscriber that can establish that he is the owner of the line.


Odusola said the contentious CDR did not emanate from MTN, adding that the firm never used the paper on which it was printed.


Meanwhile, the panel has adjourned its sitting to enable the parties to file their final written addresses.

So, 1, you assume that the contract was inflated? So what is your argument? Is Bank-Ole not the individual responsible for the budget and the person that signs off transactions?

No 2, even if the clerk took the fictional approach I suggested, you think it will not be cheaper than the fraud being committed? What is your argument?

No 3, I can appreciate procurement approaches and risk management at reasonable cost. This does not indicate such had taken place. So what is your point?

If a single unit costs N295K in the market, then there is already significant margins there for any seller as they are likely to have got it cheaper and would have factored in transportation into that cost. So what other margins is contractor adding to it?

If a contractor is now going to buy 400 at wholesale, it will make sense to buy it directly from source (which will be far less that N295K per unit), not the market, and only a contractor with that ability should be given such a contract.

The N525K appears to be simple unit sale cost and does not include installation costs, so that (most likely) would have been extra for BANK-Ole to steal from.

Cost of funds? Is it not upfront money coming from the public treasury that is interest free?

Even if not upfront money, procurement should only ensure someone with low cost of funds is given the contract.

If this was not corrupt, so why can't the house clerk or someone else in NA go to the market and get it cheaper at N295K per unit and transport everything (400) at an additional cost of N100K (i.e. transportation cost of N250 per unit). Hence it would have cost the house circa N296K per unit after you add the clerk's transport and hotel cost to go to the market?

This is tough to accept as true given what we all know that later transpired between these fellows. You won't need the address to know that the letter was not addressed to an individual is who is probably a contractor.
The last three lines of the letter starting from 'it will be appreciated if you consider  identifying  with the govt . . . . will tell you that it was not meant for the president.
Either the person who received does not want to be known or the person who leaked it does not want to be traced by the addressee.

I checked the Sahara reporters page for the first time to really see the content of the page.

I noticed that the person who pasted the break down from Njeze forgot to attach the first page of the letter of request.
The request was made to individuals not to Goodluck. Honestly those figures are out of this world, overblown and unrealistic but they are soliciting for individual helps not from the federal government.

Goodluck to the minister, I know goodluck will not sanction such if it comes to his table.

My point is this still a request and I am sure Jonathan will do to it what he did to House budget.

Do not forget that Yar'adua did not have to celebrate Nigeria at 50 so there is no room for comparison anyway.

Why is it that Njeze with her crooked budget did not get all that from the state coffers? She would have no reason to request for the money from individuals. The FG would have taken that up.

She probably has not sent this to the GEJ's table and wants to use it to milk contractors since no one is sure of making the new cabinet.

The other possibility is that it has gone to GEJ's table and she was asked to source for the fund herself.

The budget by Njeze and it seems very genuine.
