Let me ask you a question, why doesn't a muslim man convert to christianity before he marries a christian woman? yet is it a taboo for a non-muslim to marry a muslim woman. Don't get heated up by a simple thread, just give your advice.

I don't support sex before marriage, most people don't and christianity doesn't either so stop accusing christians of immorality. Nobody hates Islam, we just don't understand why a muslim (you call him fanatic yet he is still a muslim that reads the koran and live by it) can blow himslef up in the name of god for a political reason.

Here is my position of this matter

1. Generally christians feel that there religion is the only right religion, this is largely due to ignorance of other religions.

2. There is no clear-cut distinction between politics and religion in islam i.e. a muslim will blow himself up for a political reason in the name of his god. If it is for god, let us know then, if it for a political reason, be clear on it.

3. Isam started 600 years after christianity, meaning that people saw Jesus and the miracles He performed, it was the talk of the town, his life and works were recorded, His dead, assention and resurrection were witnessed and recorded. How can Islam deny this or certain part of this 600 years later?

4. Every religion thinks that it is the best religion and only people that beleive in their religion will go to heaven, islam and christianity beleives this as well. If this is the case, it either means that everyone will go to heaven or hell but we can't determine until we are judged, at least that is something we all beleive in (christiand and muslims). Until that time, if we beleive in stones, we should not throw it at others or force others to beleive what we beleive in. We shouldn't kill people in the name of a god because a true religion is not a religion worth killing for but a religion worth dying for.

Aside that, we should all get along.

Now folks are talking, this is what I wanted. I brought this up because even though ladies might not admit it, they use this 50-50 thing to their advantage; meaning that they use it when it suites them.

Like I said before, I have no issue with women having equal rights with men, I support it however, they should not use it when it is convenient for them.

A few ladies mention the Ego thing, as much as I would like to agree with them, it is not ego that dries men to take care of women, it is responsibility. I am responsible to take care of my woman just the same way she is responsible to take of me. So, if I pay the bills, buy her everything she needs and take care of her generally, why should she complain when I ask her to do stuff.

All I am saying is that ladies aint fair with this 50-50 thing, they want to make decisions like the guy but they back out when it comes to responsibilities.

I think there is something that ladies generally do that I don't find straight-forward. Women clought for equal rights i.e 50-50, what a man can do a woman can do better, independent woman and all. I think it's a good development and women should be given equal rights. However, most women manipulate this to their advantage.

Take for instance - you and your girl go out for dinner, traditionally, after you guys are done; the man is expected to foot the bill (I hear some women saying that it is ego that makes men pay, they don't want to admit they need assistance - that is not the case). Whenever it comes to expenses, it is mostly expected that the man will handle that aspect.

Now, when you want your woman to cook to a sweet meal that you know she is good at doing, she may give you some excuse like you aint married to her yet or why can't you go and cook the meal yourself or she is tired or something like that. Now, if I am expected to be the man, why can't the lady be the lady. So, I think this 50-50 think is to men disadvantage and women use it to their own advantage. Now, this cuts across alot of other things.

Can I have some inputs from our sisters and brothers in-house.

I will disagree that Nigerian girls are not romantic, before anybody cut my head off, I am speaking for myself and from personal experience, I haven't dated every Nigerian girl, I have dated two and they were sweet, wonderful and romantic.

Everybody was raised differently and this will affect your relationship as well.

what are your religious leanings? if your religion gives the green light on inter-religious relationships, then you can try. But you also have to find out if it is vice-versa on her side as well, otherwise you guys may love each other buy you may be fighting a lost battle

Thanks for clarifying things. The MAC address is burned to the device and can't be the same with any other device MAC, I totally agree but you can put a network card in passive mode and give it a totally different MAC address such that the original MAC is not displayed but a spoofed one, this was what I was refering to.

Computers on the local network use ARP to communicate, it is much faster, that is why ARP poisoning is very effective on local networks.

Will you agree that any other software that will make a computer behave in a way that is not suppose to may be called a computer virus? If you agree, I can show you some batch programs that can make a pentium II look like a pentium M, it will only change the information and not the performance.

I will disagree with you that NICs work at the network layer of the OSI, if I am mistaken, plz correct me. NICs work at the data link layer especially with MAC sub layer.

And yes - viruses can affect NICs - an example is a simple ARP poisoning of a subnet, this will render most NICs on your network ineffective. Also, NICs have drivers that are softwares and you can write batch files that can modify these firmwares i.e like changing the MAC address when spoofing.

If you are using a Windows machine and it hasn't been patched up - it can be attacked as soon as it is attached to the network. On the other hand, it could be you NIC speed; some ISPs use half-duplex braodband transmission or full duplex and if your card doesn't support auto-sensing, it could be a reason.

Nigerian government portal is run by a web framework and it is application developers that built it, not web designers. Besides, both web designers and developers work hand in hand.

FYI - That 40 million naira didn't go into straight into the designers or developers pocket, beleive you me, some big guys there had their own part, a big part for that matter.

Let me give you an example, the Public Procurement Board of Ghana www.ppbghana.org cost over $100,000 to develop, in my opinion, it's a crappy site. It went down 3 days after launch because it used a MS-Access database that couldn't handle more than 20 concurrent users. All I am saying is that, the big guys that award these contracts, take huge sums from the government, pocket over 80% and pay the developers something small.

I will not agree with you - let me put it this way, which language is faster, compiled or interpreted language? python is fast enough to do web development i.e try PSP, just like PHP compiled with mod_python; finally got it working today. It may not be fast like C if you are doing advanced scientific programming.

Google uses python extensively, so does NASA, I know yahoo run some of their scripts using python i.e http://email.people.yahoo.com/py/psAdvSearch.py

It all depends - I know flash designers that earn thousands of dollars and I know programmers that make even more, so it all depends.

Here are my personal opinions on this matter.

My personal favorite is PHP. PHP gives you complete control, down to line
breaks and HTTP headers, of your source code and page. You can easily spout
out HTML to the receiving browser by using an 'echo' command, or by popping
out of PHP, typing plain 'ol HTML', then go back to PHP for more processing.

Cold Fusion, however, tries to be more idiot-proof. It's very useful if you
plan to upgrade or change your database. You specify your database and its
login information in one 'administrative' area for the server, then you can
reference it easily on any page. The nice thing about this is if you change
databases, for example, from Access to Ms SQL, you hardly have to touch your
pages to get it to work! Also, Coldfusion is built on tags, similar to HTML.
You might type a tag and a couple parameters, but on the browser's source
code on the receiving end, it's changed your code into correct HTML. In some
ways, this is a big plus.

Still, I prefer PHP. I like having line-by-line control of everything the
receiving browser will see and do. It's a little more difficult, because you
have to learn syntax for various functions, while with ColdFusion, the
syntax is generally a string of tags just like HTML.

Should I even mention the cost differences? PHP is FREE, open source. While
I'm not sure the cost of Coldfusion, the cost is in the $1000's, easily
sticking ColdFusion out of the reach of the casual webmaster.

At any rate, I hope this helps. This is just my personal opinion, so feel
free to contradict me

I can spare the extra bandwidth in the evening so it's no big deal. I also want to encourage people to learn opensource languages like PHP. I feel opensource is the future.
