@Owl and Ibime, I do not know why Igbo scares life out of you guys. Be rest assured that you are safe. Ndigbo do not claim other peoples territories. The map of Igboland which the original poster pasted did not include Okrika, Bonny and Opobo. What some nairalanders argue here is that there are traces of Igboness in Okrika, Bonny and Opobo. Ibime you at one time agreed to that fact, you even claimed that your forefathers bore the name ''Uwakwe''. The Oha na eze Ndi Igbo guides us through whom we are. It has never at anytime invited Okrika people to join Ohanaeze. So why the panic. There are some communities in cross River state that speak Igbo from Abakiliki to Ogoja, yet we know they are not Igbo and have never been invited to join the Igbo cultural organisation. The map by the original poster included some areas in Rivers state that are Igbo such as Omuma, Etche, Diobu, Ahoada east and west, Obigbo and ONELGA. This is an established fact. |

Still on Ika, the Agbor town Union UK conducted a survey two years ago on their Igbo identity. 67% said they are Igbo. 15% said sort off, and the rest said no. |
It is interesting to note that during our Iri Ji festival in London some years back, a prominent Obi from Ikaland was our royal father of the day. For more information, go to www.icsn.co.uk |
Abagworo:It is not easy as you think. CAN YOU SAY YOU ARE NO LONGER BLACK?. That will be an exercise in futility. |
@Igbo Boy: May your days be long. May God bless the day you joined Nairaland. I am a member of Igbo Youths UK, and for the past five years now, two Delta Igbo sons have headed this organisation. Majority of Delta Igbo people are proud Igbo. The few deviant cases are in Agbor area. But they are just a microscopic few. |
THE AMAKA:That hurts a lot, but bear in mind that in Nigeria today, resources are distributed via states. So If Ndigbo gets 5, Yorubas gets 6 and Hausa-Fulani gets 8, how do you feel about that. So when we clamour for more states for Ndigbo, it is from this perspective. We do not want to have more than others but what we crave for is parity. |
Abagworo:You are wrong. It is Ukwa that has boundary with Etche and Omuma. |
Get the records straight. Ngwaland do not share any boundary with Rivers state. South of Ngwaland is Ukwaland, and Ukwaland shares boundary with Rivers state. @Onlytruth: Ngwaland is by far bigger than Nnewi and Ekwusigo. |
@Chinenye: The only group that has vehemently opposed their inclusion in Abia state is Umunneochi LGA. Till this day, they still want to join up with their Okigwe brothers in Imo state. If you are interested, I can elaborate on that. |
ABIA A--Aba division: Ngwa and Ukwa communities. B--Bende: Uzuakoli, Alayi, Item, Igberre, Umuahia, Ikwuano, Arochukwu, Ohafia communities. I--Isikwuato-Ovim, Nunya and Isikwuato communities. A--Afikpo, Unwanna, Ohaozara, Onicha communities. Since 1996, Afikpo and kins have been incorporated in Ebonyi state. But Arochukwu now takes the position of Afikpo. Arochukwu, Abiriba, Abam and Ohafia communities. Abia kwenu. |
Though the centralised name for Kola nut in Igboland is Oji, some Igbo communities around Port Harcourt calls it Aji while some say Oji. Also Igbo communities around Agbo call it Ogi. |
ChinenyeN:Yes Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo intervened. Out of 3 states they demanded for, 2 and half was created. Enugu (Wawa), Abia and Delta with capital at Asaba. Though Anioma was not created but Kudos to Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo. Regarding Anioma, they were not really united in where the capital will be situated. Some wanted Agbor, some wanted Ogwashi Ukwu and some wanted Asaba. Probably, that played a role in why they lost out then. Now that Asaba is the state capital of Delta, if Anioma is created, Asaba will still remain the capital of the new state. This state is long overdue. |
Prior to 1991 state creation exercise, Ndigbo advocated for many states. For feasibility, the Ohanaeze delegation to IBB led by Eze Akanu Ibiam submitted three lists and they are Anioma, Wawa and Abia. Eze Akanu Ibiam himself favoured the creation of Ebonyi state ahead of Abia but later changed his mind and supported the Abia state movement. I wonder how many of our leaders will do that now. |
ChinenyeN:You earlier wrote that Ngwa people did not want to be in Abia state but rather in Imo state, isn't it?. It is very easy for me to dictate your fallacies. Incase if you do not know, Ndieze in Ngwaland were signatories to the clamour for Abia state which was submitted to IBB by the late Eze Akanu Ibiam. Am not from Abia state but I can tell you all that transpired before the creation of that state. |
ChinenyeN:A.B.I.A: stands for: A--Aba. B--Bende. I--Isikwuato. A--Afikpo. The people of Aba province were in support of the creation of Abia state from day one. Please, stop all the lies here. |
@Ezeagu: what an interesting post from you. However, the Ikwerre history is linked to Igbo communities of Arochukwu and Ngwa. Though 5% link their ancestry to Ijoo and another 5% to Bini. Elechi Amadi is one of the proponents of Bini ancestry. There is also a community in Ikwerreland called RumuIgbo. |
Igbo people usually break kola nut with a knife due to some reasons. |
Ana gi agwa onye tara odudu na ya nuo mmiri, o bu ngbe ogbakuru ya. You do not warn someone who ate beans to drink water until when it chokes the person. |
@Jarus and Aisha2: Please move this thread to the appropriate section. |
afam4eva:That is what she has always been. Ashawo backyard for that matter. |

Ghana women are pretty. It is only in the U.K that you don't find any. There may be a few, but I haven't seen any yet. |
This should be in the crimes section. |
ugoani:What do you not understand or are you pretending. Should I write that in Igbo language for you to understand?. Once again, Ikwerre people are Igbo people. Any one who thinks otherwise should go and hang. |
I do understand the cultural/blood admixture of Ndigbo and Okrika people. Yet Okrika people are not Igbo. Their ethnic group is Kalabari. The Igbo groups in Rivers state are the Ikwerres, Ekpeyes, Ogbas, Egbemas, Ndonis, Ndokis, Asas, Omumas and Etches. |

OMO IBO:You are right. |
Those guys are not serious. They are merely representing their selfish interest. The authentic voice of Ndigbo is Ohanaeze. Ohanaeze believes in zoning and if not for zoning, G. Ebere Jonathan would not have been where he is today. The most thing to happen to Ndigbo is to support zoning arrangements. This method suits Ndigbo most. Remember, that The Igbo are in two geo-political zones and one day we will see the Okiro/Onovo succession method realised in Nigeria. Zoning is the in thing. |
At this juncture, the wise decision of Oha na Eze Ndigbo should be our guiding principle. |
chyz:@Chyz: thanks for posting that video. One remarkable feature of this video is the role of woman/women in kolanut and Igbo culture. In Igbo culture, women are forbidden from either planting, climbing, plucking or breaking the kola nut. It is just a question of mentality similar to the biblical regard for women. Women do break the Igbo kola when they gather in their usual cultural groupings of Umuada or in the council of women. |

We Ngwa were hoping to leave it to you all, when they wanted to create it. It wasn't our intention to be part of Abia. Instead we wanted to remain in Imo. I have no qualms leaving Abia to una.
