On the hind. Angola and cuba used both MI24 and MI35s against south africa. They never threatened SA and where shot down again and again. The alouett 3 was harder to shoot down.

On france. France never said they where leaving. They scalled down there forces. The african forces do work along side the french and the french are the fist of that force.

On nigeria beating BH? Does not proofe a victory or winning of the war. The soviets won battels in Afghanstan and the USA won battels in veitnam. BH can wither and enduer these lossess.

Envy can give you high blood pressure. Butt Hurt grin grin

See South Africa face very weak threats, that are far inferior to Boko Haram grin grin

"A group of South African soldiers was robbed in South Sudan during a peacekeeping mission, the SA Navy said on Thursday.

"There was no loss of life, but some of their equipment was taken away from them," Captain Jaco Theunissen told Sapa.

He said the troops were on a convoy when they were ambushed on Saturday."

So what do you do when you only a few in numbers and get supprised by a large rebel force? Fighting will only result in your death. Not to menstion UN ROE in dafur prevent the use of force unless your live is in danger.

Let's look at those 2 photos. A few hundred young fit solders in a hanger.

Some guy holding a AK with one hand like a retard.

But its not like they provide advance or good training, most Armies trained by the U.S.A are completely useless in combat, Americans have a lot of experience and skills, but they don't always share all the important stuff.
They provid very good training. Problem is they don't train every one or they train you to fight like americans. Even after the americans left south veitnam was able to hold there own. They only lost due to america withdrawing milltary aid. Comobia are all so benfiting from US training.

Problem comes african countries are not america. We don't have masive arty support, non stop Air support and a massive logiscal support network.

You all so can not expect say nigerian infantry to fight like US infantry. Nigeria must develop there own doctrain and pic and choose what you want from others. Example our airforce trains C130 crews in the USA because we run them the same. But our partroopers don't train there because we use difreint jump style extra extra.

You can go redecorate your Oryx interior, it is still a 1987 air frame and function design, helicopters have advanced since 1987 era.

SAAF is many years behind NAF, or Mi-171s is a year 2002 design and is brand new, keep sulking with your ancient helos.

Better go replace them when you have money in year 2030, for now SANDF is broke, @Andrewza is at risk of retrenchment
.
It is not a 2002 anything. It predats the orxy and even the puma.

NaijaPikinGidi:
My point exactly. SANDF personel are not soldiers. And I can see why you're all proud of SANDF's running away from CAR!!

SANDF will always LICK their wounds and walk run away after taking a good beating from a supposedly weaker COMBATANT.
That clip captures the very weak nature of your SANDF. I can't imagine a man being beaten to pulp and by no means managed to defend himself or neutralise the violent body bounding.

Bloody liar! You were there to rip-off CAR along side Bozize of precious mining resources. You forget that AndrewZA's version was that SANDF were there to train CAR soldiers. Which version is correct? grin grin grin

Very correct!! For once you have truthfully stated this well-recognised fact.

grin grin grin In deed ... SA is under the protection of Nigeria ... Tanzania, Uganda, Malawi, Congo, Kenya!! Don't forget Nigeria's General head the AU military setup!

Now run-off before I unleash those two angry South African women to beat you to size! #stupid

I don't question the overwhelming force they can bring to bear or their training. I'm only comparing based on what can be seen in the photo.
SF use what is needed for the job. If that is jeans, shirts and a AK47 that what they use. The serris the unit shows this well with SF even wearing Suits when needed.

Mi-17 Hip is NOT Mi-171s Terminator . Same way MiG-21 is NOT MiG-31.

Your Oryx does not carry any guided missile, same way your Rooivalk does not carry any guided bomb by specs.

Go kiss a frog with your ancient outdated 1987 Oryx helicopter that keeps rotating in a recycle factory grin grin
.
MI17 termnator is still a MI17. Just like a F18 supper hornet is still a F18

And your MI17s don't carry any guided wepaons either. The rooivalk on the other hand is fully ingrated with the nokape and minstral missiels. Just zero need for them.

If how orxy are outdated then MI17 is a musseum piece.

Point is, they use them. Colombia can get Apache's if they wanted to, they are America's closest ally in latin america and a very active non-NATO member.
That does not mean they can get apache's. Sure they would be allowed to buy them. But does there defence requiments need a decated attack chooper, can they afford to buy, fly and maintain them do they have other pressing needs that out weigh the need of attack choppers.

Rember we talikg about a country that fly second hand Israly Kirf fighters. They could not afford a dedcated attack chopper. Instead they make do just like SA made do with the alloutt III before the rooivalk.

The news of Nigeria's 40 new combat helicopters from Russia has reached South Africa, we have left the Americans to sulk.

All the 3 of you are very very wrong !

Nigerian Mi-171s Terminator helicopters are a modern year 2002 product specifically designed for dual role, attack and transport as a bigger type of Mi-35 Hind.

South African Oryx was NEVER designed for attack role and is an old outdated past generation year 1987 helicopter.

Stop making wrong comparison based on envy.

"The Mi-171Sh can be deployed on a range of missions, including the airlifting of assault forces, transportation of cargoes, troop fire support, air-to-surface attack, escort of the military columns, medical evacuation and combat search and rescue (CSAR) operations."

http://www.army-technology.com/projects/mi-171sh-combat-transport-helicopter/

.
They have been putting rockets and guns and missiels on the MI17 for years. It is still a transport with wepaons straped on it. The more wepaons the less effective a transport you have.

The orxy are rather modern and have another upgrade pending.

It is cute how you try and make your stuff better than what they are. I all so wonder if nigeria is going to employ russian doctrain with there new russian choppers or follow western doctrain of the guys that are training them.

And a orxy can perfom a host of roles to from transport, air assult, medi vac, maretime support and EW.

My point exactly. Asides the SATCOMs, every other thing is basic. It is the same thing as the photos I pasted of NNSBS personnel in the N.E.
Difrence is the support US SF get. Sure a gun is a gun but US SF have drones and satlites, air support, secuer comms extra extra. All so they better trained.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by andrewza: 6:35pm On Oct 12, 2014
Henry240:
My point is, you've been claiming black-hawk helicopters aren't used for attack roles, or aren't armed with missiles and rockets.
They arenet. They can but they don't because it makes them a less effective at there transport role.

They are always trying to make themselves feel better by projecting on S.A.

We live better here down south & that's an undisputed troof.

I know this Nigerian lady who has been living here for 10+ years. Both of her children were born here in South Africa. Ada, her oldest, couldn't cope on her first visit to Nigeria, the parents had to cut the trip short because both children were crying to return home. The mother tries to laugh it off now, but you can sense that the rejection of her country by her own children cuts deep. It hurts. Children don't front the way adults do, they call a spade a bleeping spade.

They can continue to live in the land of rainbows & lollipops concerning their country, but the fact is, anyone used to living elsewhere, would find Naija very depressing to live in.

Ada's mother now uses Naija to scare off her children. "Ada eat or I'll take you to Nigeria" grin I find it funny & sad at the same time.
I know a person from the neathlands who lived in nigeria for work. Even though it was for the goverment and she got nice accomdastion she would not like to return.

Those aren't rockets but Ingwe missile pods.

But are now changed the missiles aren't carried in pods no more,as seen in the Iraqi helicopters. Which SA integrated the missiles.
The sytem could carry rockets to though. It really not hard and if you look at the broucher for the A109 you see it to can carry wepaons from rockets, autocans to missiels. ATE(now parmount) even makes the weapons. Of course as soon as you put wepaons on a transport ou take away fromit's transport abliety.

Us black hawk with rockets and missiels.

Simple, the order was shifted to Russia.

According to your own respected South African sources, Nigeria is buying 40 Russian Mi-35 Hind and Mi-171s Terminator combat helicopters

.
I like how you say M17 combat helcopter when it is just a transport chopper. Sure you can mount rockets on it. But you can fit rocket pods to any thing. Libya stuck rockets pods on to a freaking sedan car.

Sure you will look like Congolese rebels
.
Every Battlion in SA keeps there own gear at there battlion exept for a few reserve force units who due to space keep there stuff at depos, training ground or permant force bases but by stuff I mean there heavy wepaons like AFV. But let's look at that claim

2000+ border patrol
1200+ DRC
800+ sudan
1500+ at seboka

5500 sa solders and all of them have battel jackets and full list of squad wepaons, vechlies, radios extra. In fact this Seboka was smaller than others snce it was traing for the intervenstion force. Othe Sebokas have seen 100 pkus APCs and 100 plus IFV and just under 100 other AFV for only 2 batllions. 1 SA mech battlion puts more IFV in play than the nigerian army has IFV.

There was an entier thread deicated to solders in the NE. We all got to see. AK47 a few mags. That was it. Hell your solders even muinty and complian over not being this. Stop acting like a child. You know your army is woefully under armerd.

Sure you have a few APCs and nice gear. But it is not standard issue. And I wonder if the 7th divstion is so poorly armerd how do your forces not in the NE look? Hell even the 7th div can not get 1 standard Camo pattern.

"Bangui - South African soldiers in the Central African Republic are seeking safe passage to the airport after taking heavy losses during fighting with Seleka rebels, Reuters reports."

"Amy Martin of the UN's humanitarian agency, OCHA, told the BBC World Service that the SA troops had retreated to their barracks and were seeking safe passage to the airport."

"Seleka spokesperson Eric Massi said the rebels had broken through a line of South African soldiers during their push into the city."

Na we don't claim.

We wanted to get AH-1w's from israel, the americans blocked it, we instead went for 12 additional up-graded MI-35 helicopters from belarus. No sweat.

And dummy, the CH-46 are for the Navy, not the Airforce.

You should be more concerned about purchasing aviation fuel for your Airforce.

"Weapons acquired during the 1999 arms deal are not being used and are becoming derelict, the Seriti Commission of Inquiry heard on Tuesday [October 7].

[b] “With regards to the 30 Augusta helicopters purchased from Italy, I am informed that many of them are in storage and unused or rotting at Ysterplaat Air Force Base in Cape Town,”
Craford is not in the miltary. He is a so complelty uninformened. There are zero A109s is ysterplaat in any form what so ever. The base operats orxy and lynx helcopters. So his infomastion is so wrong has to be laughbil.

No need, Nigeria has ALL infantry weapon class that SANDF has, from Rifle to AGL.

Well for us, evry bullet counts, one enemy one bullet, SANDF wastes their own

See how we nailed this Boko driver through his windsheild.....one naija bullet works like 10 saffer bullets
.
In what numbers?

In SA the MGL is a squad weapon and ever except the LMG gunner can use a rifle grenade.

Sure because your solders are better shots than the Americans. Or you talking Bull and don't under stand, cover and movement, surprising fire, or that it is very hard to hit a moving target. Do you know that if your patrol comes under attack from a certain direction you open fire at the enemy, where the enemy is hiding and where he could be hiding. With you average solders load out he can not do proper fire and movement, He can not pin the enemy down so they can get flanked or hit with heavy weapons. Face it your solders are under equipped.
