Oh Muslims of the world! Why is it very difficult for you to understand that sharia is not fundamental to ur Islamic faith? Sharia is an imposition, which has led to a gross mis-education of Muslims about their faith. I see a lot of guys here defending sharia and explaining it. But this is the issue, taking a critical examination of the sharia law itself, u would observe that some provisions in the Sharia law truly has its origin in the Quran but many other provisions have no basis in the Quran. This rubbishes the argument that Sharia is a law of God. If it is indeed a law of God, we must be able to trace all the provisions in it back to the Quran. Some other basis of sharia was coined out from the hadith and sunna wile more have been established in the early ages through fatwas. The accounts of hadith and sunnah has been contradictory including the highly revered "authentic" collections, in which there are several teachings where the prophet was claimed to have said this and that in one teaching and absolute contradiction in another teaching, such confusions are not in the Quran. It can never have been the prophet's intention to confuse us. We can not blame this on the prophet but on the unreliability of information and the source of this hadith collection. So it is then unfortunate that sharia is formed out of this codes and then attribute it to God that it is a law of God in its entirety. This is in itself a sin. I know that it would be difficult for many Muslims to digest the fact that sharia is not fundamental to Islam in its pure form. The background recipe for such understanding has to be first, a clarification of all the issues surrounding what should be the right perception of Muslims about hadith and sunnah. That is a whole lot of another complex issue but every individual can understand this if u start asking why! seek knowledge, any findings that does not exhibit a consistency of logic, ask more question, investigate it further and you will begin to see very clearly some things u have been blind about for years. Do not just follow blindly. |
stagger: I know a year he received so many car gifts that they were eventually auctioned to church members because they were too many.If he received the cars as gifts, the MOG could also have given the car back as gifts to deserving church members, so why auction? Think about it. |
dasparrow: I wonder oh! He/she is such a Typical Nigerian! He/she will be quick to defend a western country with his/her last breath even though his/her roots don't lie there and whites generally speaking don't like blacks but he/she will never contribute towards making Nigeria or even other parts of black Africa better.Relax dude, u are only hurting becos truth hurts. Did u call me a negroid black a55? Well that is what I get sometime for being black, African and Nigerian. The most derogation I get are from co negroids like u, it is only more of a shame when the negroid is a Nigerian like me. It is so ironical that ppl outside of my race have never been as rude to me as my own "negroid a55 race" Think about it dude. We can be better as Africans and not "negroids" |

This is one serious country with integrity that is high on ranking on different facet, including education, standard of living, Low crime, low unemployment, low pollution, zero tolerance to corruption, etc. |
senben: Is this suppose 2 be an issue for debate, have U asked Urself why are dere so many mosque in every big mans house, every junction or roadside or U are just basing Ur question on where U are residing...Let us not give reasons 2 why ppl will talk rubbishly about our religion be it muslim or christian.....think positive !!!Typical mentality, fleeing off reality as usual. Do u live in a Nigeria different from other Nigerians? So by ur own estimate, proliferation of mosques is equal to that of churches in Nigeria? While no one would agree with ur false claim that there are mosques in every big man's house, ur claim is still flawed in the face of ur argument because a big man with a mosque in his house is just providing(in most cases) an unnecessarily superfluous convenience for his family and may be friends to worship domestically. So there motive is in no way to commercialize religion and extort money from ppl. U said think positive but u can only be positive in ur thinking when u are true, honest and realistic. Any thinking short of that is negative. |
cap28: To say that nigerian rappers are all a pile of shite would be the understatement of the year, hip hop is over and done with but the nigerian hip hop scene is a complete and utter non starter, nigerians need to get back to the drawing board and CREATE A SOUND THAT IS UNIQUE AND STOP COPYING AFRICAN AMERICANS BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT IN THE SAME LEAGUE - THIS IS WHAT HIP HOP IS SUPPOSED TO SOUND LIKE:U have not made any point here dude. U accused Nigerian rappers of copying African-Americans and went ahead and say they don't sound like what u consider standard hip-hop. But don't u think that the reason why they don't sound like them is the reason why they are Nigerians and not Americans, this negates ur accusation that they are copying. Mode9 that does the hard core mobb deep-style-copy sh1t faded outta the scene. I really don't get ur point. Even 50 cent has tried hard to loosen up with his hardcore style against the hood nikkas wishes. But he is thinking of a fans radar that goes beyond just the U.S ghetto-hood. So u need to understand that music, most especially hip hop is business. U would fade out soon if u have no business sense. U must know ur target group and their demand and give them exactly that. That is what these folks in Nigeria are doing. There might be one or two things wrong with their songs but if they are getting only the business strategy right, then that alone is an achievement, so leave dem folks alone. How many american rappers are even actually making sense these days? I am a fan of a few Nigerian stars but just leave dem folks, leave dem. |
Yello1: why won't some peopl paddle dere own canoe, rather dan "poke-nosing"into another man's affairs why nt cry 2 God 4 blessing!nawa 4 busy body oooo.just passing-by!!I think a typical church fanatic mentality is one who's contented in themselves just for seeing how much their pastor is "blessed". It doesn't matter if they themselves are not blessed in the real "blessed" sense. |
striktlymi: Good morning,No answers to Striklymi's questions yet? I still dey wait o. |
delvinmaya: If I am to understand what some nigerians are suggesting on this thread, are y'all saying that because we do it,someone should insult me or insinuate shit about me? I remember the proverb about mother hen and the eagle. You chase the eagle away first before you scold mother hen. That's what I believe is the African spirit. Now, its wrong to engage in fraud and all, but most people in Nigeria actually don't engage in fraud, so you (in this case the reporter) have to be mindful of what you say. Those giving credence to what he has said are not only unpatriotic but have lost all sense of belonging and hope towards this country. I shake my head and pray for you oooooooo. OP I support your actions and will make a formal complaint as well, for those saying he should change the channel, I see you all have the Nigerian syndrome of hoping that some day, God will come down and sort your problems out for you, you ve got a long wait. Nigerian and proud to be one till I dieI am just surprised at the 100% motivation behind a fight against BBC while there is 0% motivation behind a fight against our irresponsible government which is the architect of all these mess in the 1st place. So which battle makes more sense? Let's assume that u achieved the ultimate aim and BBC apologizes, does that change anything? does that change their mindset and perception of Nigeria? That is the most important thing. Even if u asked them to shut up and never say it... well, they know it, so it doesn't change anything. It doesn't stop them from giving u extra check at the airport when every other passenger had already been cleared, it doesn't stop them from stepping back when they have to do important business with u, it doesn't stop them from deciding not to give u job because they are afraid of what may happen if u have access to the company's data. So this goes beyond all these stuffs u are talking about. I think some of us are even being more patriotic by taking our time to actually identify where the problem is and advocate that we tackle it from that perspective. Is this not the same crazy habit of our government? they will never solve a problem where the problem actually is, instead they will keep spending billions to solve problem where the problem is actually not. |
erico2k2: this is the mentality we need to change, must you bribe?12Inches asked if u have ever won and executed a government contract before, I would like u to answer that question. The point is no matter which planet u come from, U can't execute a government contract without bribing. If u can't bribe, go bid for contract elsewhere. If u are very disciplined and principled, u may bribe only at the top and ignore the rest but then u will still be frustrated. U don't have an idea how its going down at all. The project supervisor would never clear ur project no matter how neatly the project is implemented. (unless u would sue them, so how much is ur margin? Who would fund the court case? if u have the time to waste all the time that it takes to go to court in Nigeria then u are not a businessman) At the submission of ur letter of completion, u would be waiting for due process to clear u abi? U will spend years if u do not know that u have to bribe them to keep ur file moving. After clearance by due process, U would expect Finance to release ur check abi? It will take miracle for that to happen if u do not only bribe them but to their satisfaction. These ppl deliberately delay files to frustrate u by wasting time until u become desperate. They know that u need ur money because u are a business man and that is what they will capitalize on to screw u. The process of claiming ur check alone can take one year or more, u can find out if u don't know. So trhe point is even if u hate the idea of bribing, u have no choice. |
Well, it is painful tho but I can't be part of such complaint. We have to vent our anger on ourselves, it will be more useful to lodge such complaint to our government and pressure them to be responsible and help our country's image than to tell BBC not to joke about our globally known trend of fraud. If our government can't help our image, so why should the BBC care? Let's just forget it, Naija no get levels at all. If u are meeting any foreigner and u introduced urself as a Nigerian, they start looking over their shoulders immediately. People in Nigeria would not actually understand how bad it is until they transact and interact outside Nigeria on different levels. It is very very bad. |
Opoki: Are you sure of that?Ok but u mixed the story up. True that he was not aware that he was actually the the target but wrong that he was out to kill Teslim. If he was, he wouldn't have been killed so easily. His plan was to just go there and use his "Thug-the-Don charisma to calm things down and curtail possible Teslim's excesses. Little did he know that Teslim would surprise him by the following: 1) Teslim had beef for him much more than he knew 2) Teslim was coming in convoy of imported hoodlums that he (Eleweomo) had no influence on. 3) Teslim was prepared for the worst case scenario with Eleweomo The mistake Eleweomo made was that he went there very casually with very flimsy thug guards, he probably thought that he had monopoly of thugs and at the same time, he underestimated Teslim and so when the friction started, hostility was so high that he had to run for his life like a chicken, no back ups, no defense tactics, grossly unprepared and he was gunned down next to a piled log of woods at the backyard of a house in the nearby neighbourhood. That was so easy... and so he died. There had been more evidence against Teslim than there was against Tokyo. Tokyo at that moment was in frolicking romance with the ACN which pitched him against Akala of PDP, meanwhile, Teslim at that time was on his own, on the same struggle and in the same camp with Balogun & Co within PDP. So there is every likelihood that Eleweomo's death was a solo plot from Teslim and it doesn't seem as if Tokyo was involved. |
rokiatu: She started telling me a bit just a bit when I was 18 (WHEN i ALREADY KNEW THE a TO z OF SEX) like seriously you gotta luv African Parents. ROFLMAO!!!Yea yea yea, the manifestation of those curves would have been at least since 16. So mum was 2 good years too late. |
Sunymoore: Haah, me parents no even care wo, cause they knew they gave me good brought up...and what makes a "good brought up"? is sex education not part of it? |
kool J: Well I guess its just me...I've never quite been able to laugh at Helen Paul's jokes-try as I may. I'm pretty sure I look more bored after I listen to her than b4 I did.U are right! This is not to run Helen Paul down or something but there is a thing wrong with her comedy, U can not expect me not to be bored at ur performance when u are attempting to make me laugh through a monotonous xter like all the time. A comedian should be able to assume different xters. If u are really looking for a female funny xter, Youtube Little Miss Jocelyn (U.K Nigerian Comedy Series) if u have never seen it before. She has about 7 different episodes based on differing xters that she acts out herself and all are dead funny. |
While I do not support lynching or killing of anyone who is found to be gay most especially in Nigeria, I am completely against any advocacy for the most common right they demand in western countries. Which is usually the following: 1) Right to legal marriage 2) Right to adopt a child or children 3) Right to public display of (gay) affection 4) Right to employment without discrimination 5) Right to public gathering such as carnivals, parade, concerts etc No way for all the above rights for gays in Nigeria. However, they can have the following rights as far as I am concerned: 1) Right not to be killed because they are gays 2) Right not to be lynched by anyone because they are gays 3) Right to education like any other person 4) Right to health care 5) Right to free rehabilitation purposely to reverse their sexual orientation. If Naija was a smart country, we should offer the below rights to them to score points against international politics where the west would want to use gay issues to score point against us. I use to tell ppl if the West says there are no gay rights in Nigeria, then we would be in a position to point at the rights that protect their lives, education and health care and that we even offer them free rehabilitation so what else do they want? In this case we would be in a very pretty position to defend our stand as a nation as far as homosexuality is concerned. But unfortunately, we have a govt without bearing. |
eldoradoxx: What interests me most here is that even in the face of real people who are sharing their Shiloh testimonies, doubting Thomases are stil disputing the wonders of shiloh. My sister has her own Shiloh testimony too, she wanted a husband, her and my immediate elder. She made a shiloh vow and redeemed it, two months after, both who were not in relationship of any sort got guys flocking around, less than 1 year after, they re both married. They married few days to last Shiloh, she made another vow asking for twins, she redeemed and by March she took in and is 2 -3 weeks away from delivering twins, the other sister too just called me that she is pregnant too. There is a mystery in Shiloh, a power that answers speedly to every vow, it doesn't ve to be too much. As low as 5k, made at Shiloh, someone got job he never applied for in a mysterious way. When God is working, you know that it is not sheer luck or chance occurence, that its the hand of God at move! I am looking forward to making to kinds of vow at shiloh this year, first is to vow to God my life and then my susbstance, watch me next year, and see amazing wondersNow dude listen to urself! Why would any lady think she needs a miracle to have a husband? If she paid God to give her twins and now she is about to have twins, what about the other sister, didn't she also pay to have twins? At least both of them paid for a husband. If their pregnancy was a miracle well, I wouldn't be surprised if getting a husband was a miracle in the 1st place. The point is this, I have couple of achievements that I can point to year in year out without paying any ransom to God at any Shiloh or the likes. I just pray gently to God and he listens. So try to understand when ppl don't view shiloh the way u view it because we have to wonder why some millions of ppl have to pay a form of money to God before their prayers are answered. God can not be partial, there is something terribly wrong. |
maclatunji: You are derailing the thread. Kindly create a thread for your thoughts or desist from derailing.I sincerely apologize for that, I am sorry, in fact I am signing out. Thanks. |
Frostyzone: *Scratches head*My point is so straightforward, U have criticised Sahria as being a factor that pitched the muslims against the west and technology and I am pointing out the irony of how Sharia is in fact of no significance but unfortunately highly revered by most of muslims of today. How did that happen is a looong story. |
tbaba1234: Thanks for the response, jazakAllahu khairanIf u sincerely think that I want to mislead many, why are u silent about it? If u think that I have no knowledge and I have misunderstood, why not bring forth your onw knowledge and understanding. And let's discuss it for God knows who is with or without knowledge because HE is All Knowing. What if u are indeed the one without knowledge? |
Frostyzone: Really? So that's why Islam still practices stoning, whip flogging, amputation of body parts, in a century that no longer condones the barbarism just so they can prove a point?!U are likely not a muslim from ur post but it's ok I just wanna refer to ur comment to clarify some things. The point is that virtually all the ills that are associated with Islam stoning to death and so on is established through sharia. And so the question is what is the basis for Sharia in the Quran? The bulk of all the rules are formulated from Hadiths and Sunnah and the very least of the rules aligns with God's instructions in the Quran. Did God establish any bases for an overbearing rule which will be "sharia" apart from the laws that are embedded in the Quran? The answer is No. Anyone who wants to challenge this should come up with proves to substantiate it. Sadly, we Muslims of today pay the most attention to Hadith, Sunnah, and accept Fatwah from scholars that have arrogated status of a partner of God to themselves. This scholars prohibit what God have not prohibited and allows what God have dissallowed, arrogating partnership to God is a big sin. Then when a muslim criticize certain logics in Sharia as against commonsense and even the logic of the Quran, they would say u have criticized the Law of God. How can it be a Law of God when in fact it is not written by God and in reality, it contradicts severally the laws which is actually written by God? I would advice muslims to rediscover their faith in Islam before it's too late. |
Journey1: PLEASE DON'T TALK WITHOUT KNOWLEDGE. ALSO DON'T TRANSLATE THE QUARAN BASED ON YOUR DESIRES. I advice you to read tafsir ibn kathir for better explanation of the Quaran. How do u gain ur own knowledge of the Quran? Not by reading and understanding the Quran itself but by reading tafsir ibn kathir? U must be joking! |
goodest11: Bismilahi rahaman rahimHey heeey heeey stop there dude... U see there is a big problem if I look at 90% of we muslims of the world and what we have turned Islam to. It is really disheartening. Who told u that A muslim man is permitted to marry 4 wives? Have you not been brainwashed into misunderstanding the intention of God almighty in the verse where he was giving instruction only to custodians of orphans in the Quran? And even at that, conditions were still attached and that "...if the pressure of taking care of the orphans would be too much for you, you may marry 2 or 3 or 4" in principle, to have mother figures for them and that would be depending on the number of orphan u have adopted. Now, are you a custodian of orphan? or can u point to any other verse in the Quran that gives express permission for u to do so apart from that that I have mentioned here? Why are u not referring to numerous other verses in the Quran that actually discourages hurting our wives? how many wives are not hurt when their husbands arbitrarily go marry another wives? Since u are not particularly laying ur claim on the basis of Hadith I would leave it at this but if u do so then I would handle this argument from that perspective. To refer to the OP's question, do not bother yourself too much, what u have to do is look deep into the Quran and see what are the provisions from God to get married as a muslim, you would find out that it is very simple and unambiguous. I could have stated the verses here but I want you to do it yourself. Whatever you have seen is what u have to do if u would follow the path of God. Now for some elaborate sense, because of the desire of we humans to do things elaborately even if its unnecessary, many muslim friends and relatives would present you with different rules of a muslim marriage, well, do not discard them but rather, u may tabulate those rules against what the God decreed in the Quran and any one that aligns with what u have in the Quran, u may accept and adopt it and any one that goes against what God decreed in the Quran should be discarded completely. Otherwise, you would end doing some practice which is not of God but wrongly attributed to God. At that, u have transgressed. Be aware!!! If many muslims do certain thing that u disagree with based on ur new understanding from ur findings in the Quran, it shouldn't bother you for God did not ask you to believe in muslims but Islam. The path to true ISLAM is solely in the Quran and when u follow it sincerely, u are a muslim. |
This guy must be kidding us right here, If he insist that he is not kidding, I would recommend that he is taken to a psychiatrist or better still, simply quarantined. |
FortuneTeller: Do you really believe this or is it that you are being cheap? You should be taking your bride on a proper honeymoon, the least you can do is take her to a nice hotel. So if u have to go on honeymoon to say... the carribbeans, would u not sleep in a hotel? How can any one go for honeymoon without sleeping in a sort of hotel no matter what. Unless u would do ur honeymoon in ur own house or a friend's house and well if that is the case, that is no honeymoon. |
coogar: so let's assume you became rich in your profession......Oh no coogar. Are u kidding me? So when a person is poor, u see them as dirty and unkempt... hmmm.. I see... but hey the poster wasn't asking about rich men allowing their children to marry junkies cos the picture u have in ur mind is that of a junky. He said "poor people". Let me help u here, the child of a common civil servant for example in Nigeria of today is absolutely "poor" if he is hoping to marry the child of a multi-millionaire. But in such scenario, u can not say such person is dirty and unkempt, there is just a wide gap in financial status and that's all, look I am sorry but I sense arrogance in ur reasoning. |
Cunninlingus: she looks ret@rdedOh c'mon, learn to be good in ur heart. However she looks, she didn't make herself look that way, don't be arrogant. |
Good attitude is everything. If she doesn't have the 2 other point as at the time we are meeting each other its not a problem. I would capitalise on the good characteristics of hers to build up the 2 other points. In just few weeks under my serious tutelage, she would become a guru in "bedmatics" sure, sure, I am so sure of that except if it ain't me. Well, the food?? well she got to learn but I am not so bothered about that but she has to learn tho at least for the kids. |
DaLover: whats this constant relationship between amala and ibadan...was the stuff invented there? It is normal, dude... foods are specific to places, its part of ur Identity even if u as a person don't eat it so much. Americans would be talking Hash bronws Hamburger etc, Italians/Spanish would be talking pasta and pasta, the Dutch would be talking Stomp pot and Vla so u are not expecting Ibadan ppl to be talking about french fries do u? yes may be some of them eat it of course but its foreign, that's the fact. Amala is their indigenous delicacy and they are proud of it. |
Interesting... Ibadan, thats my city but no one is mentioning Options 24/7 maybe it's fizzled out these days I don't know but it was a hotspot as far back as I used to rock it. But this is my message to the OP. Forget about some poster's comparing Lagos and Ibadan. That's is not ur motive is it? Lagos vibe is Lagos vibe while Ibadan vibe is Ibadan vibe so it depends on what u want. The truth is this, u may find it a little bit boring if u really don't have a friend that would actually navigate u to where the fun is. U know it's a big city and the fun places are not concentrated on one area. If ur own sense of fun is "huzzle and buzzle" and some extreme "wild wild dang" well, I really can not guarantee if u would find it in IB. Just prepare urself for a cool not over the top kind of fun catching that is good enough for a normal appetite. The people are more friendly and real (no fakers) but some Lagos ppl don't seem to like that, rather they would prefer to bully them as "local ppl" for just not pretending to be who and what they are not. Let me tell you some don'ts in Ibadan If u go for any reason to hardcore places where the pure indigenes are, pls don't speak english except if u are not Yoruba. U can only go away with it if u pretend to be an Ibo guy or something (but why would u do that?) Speak Yoruba to them and be polite, they would appreciate the fact that u are kind of enlightened and not arrogant and they will be nice to you. I can say a lot of stuffs about IB but may be this is enough for you. Enjoy ur time in Ib. |

cos the picture u have in ur mind is that of a junky.
