Romance / Re: First Date And She Refused To Come To A Cool Place I Suggested by apache77(m): 10:31pm On Nov 23, 2020
You did the right thing jare. And i am sure the girl is a young girl, which can be excused.

Mine was an old ass girl-29yr old woman fa, and i cldnt overlook it for any reason.

We met once and after some days, i tried to fix a date-to take her one of the best places in our side of town. She was like, nooo- the place is always too busy- she diesnt want that kinda bottles set up and noisy music. She didnt call me when she was supposed to call me, so i come get her. So chinned up and let it slide. By the way, the place was near her work place, why i chose it in the first place to avoid getting stuck in traffic.

Okay, following weekend, i said lemme take her out again. She asked, hope not that same place i wanted to take her last time, i said no.

I now asked her what she likes. She said dinner (am sure so she would be doing snapchat on my bill), movies and stuff. I said ok, no p, with the intention to take her to a cozy alfresco bar/ restaurant in her side of town.

Very sleek place, one of the best in the city, meaning one of the best in Nigeria. She obviously didnt knw the place, which was neaer her side of town.

When i mentioned it, like an hour before il come get her, this grown woman(not 16 or 23) said she is not interested. Surprised, i asked why? Do you know the place? She said no. Is it because its on this side of town? She said yes.

I said no problem. Shame that you dont know the place, you cldnt even google it, and you decided against. No p il go on my own, i refused to change venues.

Seems she now googled the place, was wowed and then hit me up, saying, her judgement about the place was quite hasty she shoulnt have concluded just like that. I said good, she knows, but i was gone.

She was watching my snap as i was frolicking two other girls with buffet dinner. The peppering on my status was too much. I think she blocked me two weeks later.

Stoooopid bitch. Becos u get big breast n big nyash. Nansense. How can you be condioning me, where to take you on my own bill. Because you get boutique? All these big breast, big nyash girls no dey get sense. They are like a tribe

MrHistorian:
Chelsea,the ungrateful team.

Costa was an indispensable tool to their EPL 2016/2017 triumph.Despite his goal scoring exploits, the manager decides to ridicule him out of the team by sending him an "ordinary" text message to inform him about his irrelevance in the team.Imagine!...Not even a Phone Call or a physical discussion.

That was how Diego Costa was disgraced out of the team because of a "frivolous" excuse of him to be fiery temper which can be easily solved by employing a Psychologist or engaging him maturely about how his attitude affects the team.

Let's wait to see a successor that will be as resilient as this gentleman is.

Please...Don't mention me and type Morata.

Ooooohkay, hold a physical diwcussion with costa to tell him he is fired. Na so you wicked reach? So you want someone to end up in hospital with a broken head. Coach is smart
Education / Re: Civil Engineering Vs Chemical Engineering by apache77(m): 6:32pm On Jul 28, 2017
Chemical engineering is very abstract..lots of mathematics, computations and calculations..forget chemistry..it has nothing to do with chemistry except at the base or elementary level as science is its foundations. You are hardly able to conceive in your mind what is being said, where as in civil, immediately they talk trusses, you see them in your mind, immediately they call a unistrut, you see it, you see materials, you see projects, you see structures.
In chemical engineering, yku have to think in 4 dimensions- x, y,z and the last cordinate, which is an abstraction.
So in transport, thermodynamics, chemical kinetics, etc etc, you are just solving mathematicsl models, maths maths maths.. while engineering is derived science, chem engr is derived engineering.

This guy is a compulsive liar. That is not a receipt of payment for services. It is a receipt from a bank. Also the police here do not arrest people over such matters. They will tell you that it's a civil matter and you have to take it to court. However he may have ultimately paid her, because running into legal trouble while you're visiting on a Visa is a big No-No.

Thats a direct deposit into a wellsfargo account. The account shd be the hairbraiders and the receipt given to him(bobrisky) by the receiving cashier in the bank

If you have certification that can get you a job here, you should come back home. Most people really just think "abroad" is the solution to the problem.

There are many people in Europe and America, who walk the streets in fear and expectation that it could be their last walk there, before being shipped home.

If you don't have "change" to start a business here, no certificate to work, my brother, stay there. With time, things will get better. There is a lot of suffering in this country. Some people that will advice you are just too comfortable to see it.

The bad part is, if you come home, people will be of the opinion that you have cash, and would expect money from you.

Be careful, take your time, weigh your options. May God bless you.

Exactly, bro. Even now, everybody is send me money, send me money..

theres really nothing to go back to.i sild everything. only th8ng is have there is a house, still in my name..which i have vowed not to sell

So as at dec 2016, i was at ground zero.
Culture / At A Crossroad- Should I Remain In America Or Come Back To Nigeria by apache77(m): 10:02pm On Apr 30, 2017
This gon’ be quite lengthy

I have been in America, 5months plus 0now. I came on a Visa- B1/B2, but I came particularly to establish residency here. I am still within my i94- meaning, I have not overstayed yet, I am still legal and considering whether I should remain and forge ahead or go back before I fall out of status. Once I do- in next 30days, there’s no turning back.

Now, like I said, I wanted to establish residency here- the marriage route- probably fall in love, marry, get my green card, citizenship and enjoy the American dream, but now, am not too sure again. Life here is tough mehn, and atimes, I keep wondering if I should not just go back to Nigeria, and I am really tempted to pack it all up and go back.

America is not easy, at all, damn. It is one of the most difficult places to live. But at the risk of making it look like this is a hell hole, lemme quickly say that it is not that bad.

I started driving 10days after I got here- I bought a car (car no cost for this land, with $1000 I got a reasonable at the Auction) and go about where ever I want- I have never had cause to enter a bus or even train in this land.

Even before I bought a car, my friend used to come take me anywhere I wanted, once he was off work. I have a license too and where I stay, within the city, I sublet a room for $500 a month, in a 3bedroom apartment with one or two other guys I knew from home. Nothing fancy, just okay.

I still manage to TurnUp at the club (Naija or Akata Club) every Friday and can at least afford rail drinks for $10 or so- patron marguaritas, Tequilla, and draft beers for $5. At all at all na hin bad pass. I manage to take girls out for outings too where I can afford to buy them Quesadillas fajitas, crab cakes for $25 or $30 and run a tab upto like $60 or $70. Once in awhile. that is.

I got a minimum wage job at $9 an hour, 40hour week when I came but after two months, I couldn’t stand it and changed jobs. I was getting about $72, tax free but gave them notice of termination, a month ago- I was tired of their crummy job (lol). They knew I was working without authorization, through an agent and were probably thinking- where’s he gon go?’

But I did and at my new job now I earn double that and started a 2nd job last week where I earn similar pay. If I keep at it, am prolyl netting $300 a day or say about $5,000 a month (working from 10am to 12midninght, both jobs). Though I don’t have a wife or kids, I don’t know if this is the life I want at 36.

My friends have told me to hang in there, America is not easy when you first come, but things will improve. But when? With this clock in, clock out? I can’t even save, so I can’t even ‘do that iyawo thing’ (moderator, make una no vess) nor can I even get a girl and love her up soooootay I nudge her up to the altar (am I being too much in a haste?) after which, with my IT certifications, I can be getting $40 or 45 an hour.

But this not even about money- this land is a strange society, everything is inverted from what we know in Nigeria. You can make all that money and not still be happy. I’ll be happier driving a tokunboh car in Nigeria that a mint new car from a dealer on the Interstate 5 in Cali or I85 in Atlanta, with car notes to boot.

But then, was my life really that okay in Nigeria? Well, up to a point it was- till the last 18months when things got so bad I couldn’t even pay my rent. I was thrown out of my house and moved into an uncle’s empty flat, never earned a dime within that period and had to actually sell my offroader (jeep) and other belongings to fund my American journey. If I got 10k or 5k within that period, somone gifted me that money.

But with power of hindsight now, I was still happy, with people, with family, going to crowded markets, beer with friends in the evening, that sense of community and better weather(which I hated then anyway) And its not like I just woke up and relocate to America o, I have been visiting, but meeehn, the reality of living here is way different than visiting, and it seems I never even knew America.

So question now for my brothers and sisters- help me make a decision, and I have just a month to make this- should I go back to Nigeria or rough it out here? In this land that the girls even doing shakara for yo are these fat, obese overweight akata girls with three children? All wielding section 8 vouchers and food stamps, calling you with free goverment phone ala obama phone, or getting tax refunds from their w2 from care jobs. When you left sweet sweet girls in Naija dying for you, even when you couldnt afford fish for them?

In this land where english is a problem, as they cant understand your accent- where you always hear: say that again? You dare not do a phone interview, cos of your accent and your where your best bet is pushing for a one on one interview via mail, with the hope your appearance will make them overlook your accent. If they judge akata by skin color, they judge you by skin color and accent.

Where you cant even get a reasonable job till you show work authorization. In this land with brutal winters, where you cant get rich, just comfortable, but where you have all the basic amenities of life and security

Help a brother, and others hell bent on coming to America

Travel / Re: How I Was Scammed By A Hotel / Booking Agency At Murtala Mohammed Airport by apache77(m): 10:39pm On Dec 22, 2016
obidevine:
Hello nairalanders, I'd like you all  to read this my epistle on my bad experience with a travel / hotel  booking agency  in Muritala Mohammed international  Airport, Lagos , Nigeria.

I and my wife got a 3 months  visitor's visa to South Africa , our visas were granted after we had satisfied all their visa requirements ( with our hotel bookings and statement of account verified) .

On the day we were meant to travel, we got to the departure area of Kenya airways (the airline company we were meant to fly with), the airline attendants asked for a copy of our  hotel booking  and "yellow card",  to my surprise I and my wife forgot the print out of our hotel booking, but luckily we had our yellow cards.

The flight attendant told us that we couldn't go through without our hotel reservation, I told him that we got the visa because the south African Embassy had verified all our documents -hotel reservations included-  before granting us the visa , the attendant ( a nigerian) was adamant that without the reservation we couldn't go through, he even told us that even if he let's us pass that when we get to South Africa they would send us back because we didn't have evidence that we had a hotel reservation,  I thought to myself " which kain wahala be this sef".

A lady who  was standing beside called my wife aside and said she could help us book another hotel accommodation, she directed us to her desk just opposite where the airline attendant was harassing us, we had to cancel our former booking and eventually ended up paying 105,000 naira for 4 nights stay in another  hotel, the lady printed out the document and handed it to us, we took it to the attendant and he granted us passage.

When we eventually arrived Johannesburg, South Africa to our surprise they didn't even ask us for the hotel booking, they only checked our yellow cards , warmly welcomed us to their beautiful country and stamped us in , we found our way to the hotel they booked for us,  after showing the hotel manager ( who coincidentally is a Nigerian)  the booking print out  he looked at it and told us that the booking was only done for 1 night, I and my wife didn't look at the print out in Nigeria because we were in a hurry not to miss our flight ( it was when the hotel manager pointed out a couple of things  on the printout that we  realized to our dismay that the lady in Nigeria booked only one night for us after collecting money and claiming she booked 4 nights) , I and my wife were perplexed, we had to pay for another 4 nights . It's obvious that the Nigerian man working with Kenya airways that checked our documents at Muritala Mohammed airport  connived with the hotel booking agency to rip us off.

The reason I'm writing this is to bring to the fore the fact that this travel / hotel booking agency with their desk directly opposite Kenya airways departure section is a big scam ( they didn't even put their name on the receipt because they know they are a scam) the reason why we didn't scrutinize the printout like I said was because we were in a hurry not to miss our flight.  I really don't know why we ( Nigerians) like to be so cruel to ourselves. This should serve as a warning to all of us that we should always scrutinize receipts and other documents given to us.

U r a very careless man, with an equally careless wife. More woe will befall u if u do not put ur acts together and pay more attention to detail. Thank God it was just money u lost now...not somwthing more important.

1. He was in hurry cos he probably came late for checkin
2.he forgot his hotel reservation- who does that. Then he pid for another one.who again, does that? You book and pay on arrival.
3. Oky, so u paid, and d few minutes, maybe 30at depature concourse, you dint check ur docs, on the 5 or 6 hr fligjt, u still didnt check d docs till u got to the hotel?

Oga u deserve slap
U can get your refund from the agency tho.involve avsec..aviation security or pilice

which one be ill services here na. Coming from citizen of a country with no viable airline your statement is strange. You want to fly in A380? cheesy Hold your Nigerian airways, Arikair etc responsible and not Etihad airways. By the way Ethiopian airways Addis Ababa to New Delhi is Boeing 737, the same Arik air uses for Lagos to Abuja and the flight is 6.5hrs. No inflight entertainment, very poor leg room etc. My point is there are other poor international flights. All international flights no be A380 like planes, so take am easy grin

Lie from tbe pit of hell. Flight from bole to IGI is a dreamliner, 787.
