obinoral1179:His ministry was created to foster ICT in digital age. As part of Jonathan's transformation agenda. They control agencies NIPOST, NIGCOMSAT, NCC, NITDA, issues radio licences etc. |
macof:Hehehe. Tell me the school you went to and the degrees you acquired or your level of exposure to the world. I did not attend any mushroom schools masquerading as university. I wonder how one gets to study in some of the world's best universities (all consistently in top 10, top 20 in World University League tables). You think all those universities you guys attend, create nothing, contribute nothing and blow outdated Victorian English as evidence of education is meaningful? Oh like some SW people once said about an Edo person to oyinbo people "he's only a minority, do not ask him about Nigerian history. He cannot know anything about Nigerian history". That was about a first class graduate Edo man. Jealousy of how oyinbo relied on his expertise prompted your SW people to behave that way. Of course oyinbo people easily saw how pathetic your people can be in that instance. ![]() Tell me your publications in renowned international Journals like Nature. Tell me your contribution to the body of knowledge in Western/advanced societies. Then we can compare. After that I will take you seriously. Tribal megalomania has blinded you lot. We're no more in the era of Western Region (which Midwest left anyway, thanks very much). Otherwise steer clear of comparing intelligence and stick to your agbero tactics in which you excel. ![]() Like I wrote in a post yesterday you lot resort to agbero tactics, swearing and insults when your pseudo-intellectualism fails and you get angry. That is why you first call someone you do not know "a raving lunatic". You lot claim to be educated but still lick the ass of the uneducated North. Pathetic. Like a typical coward swearing behind a faceless platform is very convenient. In Edo we do not brag. In real life I will not even threaten you saying "ah ah, emi ke, ah ma pa e o" before breaking your bones if it has to be. I do not even have to swear first. Just mess up and you get the result straight. ![]() |
mfm04622:Some tenants are evil. No wonder many will remain wretched for life. One family left with over 6 months rent. They never honored their undertaking (signed at my lawyers office) to pay off their debts in installments. E nor go better for them. |
macof:Lol. Oh he did not descend with chain again? ![]() Well the other fairy tales and lies are many: came from Sudan, came from Egypt, came from Israel. Which of the lies is yours? Unlike most people, I can actually help you with your mental issues, be it mania, psychosis or whatever. Or enlist the help of one of the best in the business that I know. An award winning mental health specialist. Feel free to get help. It appears those dump 9ja centres like Aro and Yaba Left have failed. On second thought, I doubt if the interior minister will let a raving lunatic into the country. Too bad. ![]() |
historyworld031:It is very difficult to educate people who refused to learn. In the wake of 1897 war heralding end of Benin Empire, it became apparent that many will try to twist history. The British were determined not to educate Benin people. They feared that with the anger over destruction of Benin & exile of Oba Ovonramwen, if Benin people are educated, they would become some of the most fervent anti-colonialists. In a memo from the resident British governor in Benin, to British govt in Westminster, he warned that they should not make the mistake they made in Sierra Leone & Lagos colony. You know Fourah Bay College educated Africans were some of the earliest African nationalists. But on ground British officers claimed there was no more money to fund schools or assist missionary schools. Even though Benin Province was about the most buoyant in Southern Nigeria due to the booming rubber latex produce for automobile/bicycle tyres along with oil palm and cocoa. When Oghada community (very affluent farming community back then) volunteered to fund a school for 100 boys in their community, colonial officials refused still. Therefore Edo was set deliberately set back educationally. Meanwhile Yorubaland had schools. From where many got sponsored abroad to study. By the time Edo people became educated, SW people had already written a Yoruba-centric history. When Edo people now wanted to set the record straight, they said Benin was fabricating history. But the silver lining in 1897 defeat is that stunning Benin arts flooded Western museums and they had to sit up and research it. Coupled with notes of Portuguese, French, Dutch and English explorers over the centuries, a clear picture emerged of a very sophisticated and advanced Benin society from even the 15th century. This prominence has caused much envy since. I have seen how highly regarded Benin arts and history are in Museums in UK, Holland, France, Germany and several others. Envy has made our SW cousins to try denying that Benin Empire ever existed. At other times they claim Benin art was a copy of Ife art. ![]() Now as for Itsekhiri, they were clearly Benin vassals. Making them part of the wider Benin Empire. Their first Olu was Prince Ginuwa of Benin. He was the son of Oba Olua of Benin. I have written several times on it here on NL. As for Anioma, Biafra war caused many lasting consequences. Since then, politically Anioma has aligned closer to core Igbo. But a look at the book/memoir " The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano, or Gustavus Vassa, the African" (1789) is quite revealing. A slave who gained freedom, fought against slavery and wrote his memoir. In it he clearly states that he's an Ibo by tribe and a citizen of Benin Kingdom. In imperial times Benin Empire had Edoid people, swathes of Yorubaland, Izon, Anioma and several others as part of it. The Oba reluctantly allowed non-Edo people in the empire to engage in slave trade because those tribes insisted. It was a compromise to ensure peace. But selling a Benin person by anyone or a Benin person selling anybody of any tribe was forbidden. This has been misinterpreted as Benin selling other tribes. That is why today Benin has no real slave diaspora in the Americas. A French slave trader documented that of the 100 slaves for sale he saw on the way to Gwatto/Ughoton port, there was not a Benin person and no seller was a Benin person. Records are there to verify. To be continued. |
baralatie:Have you gone to Benin to look for it? Many of us saw remnants of the wall next to the moats growing up. Some still remain. If not that the moats were so deep, long and stubbornly resilient, there would be none left by now. Lot of it became refuse dump for the growing city post 1897. The walls were knocked over to partly fill the moat (more sand moved from elsewhere) and used as building plot. British colonial govt had no interest in preserving it, unlike what Obas/emperors of Benin did until 1897. These were walls built with largely red earth that had to be periodically repaired and maintained. But as it became redundant, remnants left by destruction in 1897 were not maintained. We are talking of a tropical place with very high rainfall. All in the middle of a city (as it grew way beyond the second/outer moat) as no trees to shelter from heavy rains Benin experiences. If you go to your village, how many earth walls of houses abandoned and exposed to rain for over 120 years will you find intact? I went to one village and some houses that were still strong and inhabited 25 years ago are now flat earth. Once the owner died, the daughters (one had no surviving son) got married and never saw the need to maintain the house. One had many sons but once the senior son who inherited the house died relatively young, the house collapsed as all now live in the city. |
macof:As soon as you show me evidence of the chain Oduduwa used to descend from wherever, ask for mine too. ![]() |
doctokwus:Wait o. Did anybody hear that Boko had 10 policewomen in captivity? How come Shekau announced he had policewomen in captivity and they are released within days? There are many questions that need to be answered. Conspiracy theory was once laughed at by APC goons/zombies. Even they will be asking themselves perinent questions despite their outward bravado and intransigence. |
LastSurvivor11: ![]() Na electric car you buy wey dem see you dey charge am? |
macof:Hate? In APC era everything is hate speech. I do not spend my time hating anyone. I just wrote my observations and history. The fact is Benin gave Ife Oduduwa. I have consistently stated this for years here on NL. Of course people hail own tribe. Why should I expect anything else from you? ![]() What people are very bad at though is introspection. It take unique people to seek the truth. Lazy pedestrian people find tribalism and nationalism far easier. |
historyworld031:Now you see. It exposes the myth that Yoruba people are accommodating and tolerant. Behind your back they are not. An anonymous platform like Nairaland gives them the perfect medium to show it. I liken many SW people's way to the ignorance of some Europeans. While educated, their education and worldview are very narrow and centered on self/nationalism. In the middle of a major European city, SW colleagues of an Edo man berated fellow European workers for relying on an Edo man when seeking information on Nigerian/African politics and history in general. An Edo man with a First class degree from 9ja's premier university. The Europeans had come to appreciate his concise analysis of current affairs. And they always cross-checked his analyses and found them very factual. But SW people told the Europeans to ignore his opinion because as " a minority tribe, he knows nothing about Nigeria". Behind the Edo man's back of course. The Europeans marveled at their foolishness. ![]() Over the years here on NL, I have robustly engaged SW people on history. When frustrated they end up swearing and cursing. Resorting to agbero tactics when their pretentious intellectualism fails. So much about cultured and sophisticated omoluabis. I am sure of my history. I heard same consistent oral history from people born in 1870s. Many lived till around early 1990s. People who were at least teenagers when Ovonramwen crisis broke out in 1897. My people played a part in our history. No herd mentality, use of tribal numerical advantage or harassment can faze me. Landmarks of that history remain. Dukes and chiefs whose ancestors played a part in that history are today's "living history". They believe only their Northern masters have the right to speak. Southern tribes should be their servant. But we in Edo had colonies in swathes of Yorubaland from Eastern Yorubaland to Lagos. They can deny it as they want. They can twist it as they want. But they cannot change it. No farytale of someone using chain to descend from heaven or hell can change it. ![]() |
femidejulius:My brother let's not deceive ourselves. The younger generations are worse. I have to sadly agree with IBB (one of the worsts exponents ever) that the youth do not have what it takes to rule. Look, the current corrupt and ineffectual leaders were raised by strict parents, by European teachers and European military instructors during colonial time. Yet they turned out like this. Now imagine the younger ones that were breastfed and reared on corruption: children of corrupt civil servants and police officers, bribed their way through WAEC exams, university admission and education. How do you expect them to turn out? In terms of indolence, sycophancy, greed and love of beautiful things, the younger generations are largely worse. Remember Dimeji Bankole and Salisu Buhari, both of house of rep. How both messed up big time. Only occasionally you see good individuals. We're in a pickle my friend. |
Ah ah! So armu roba dey waylay aeroplane inside airport for the country these days. Just when you think you've heard it all. |
Onyochejohn:Complete jungle o. Only God will save. |
Well, Buhari has never pretended to like the rule of law or judges of any sort. Whether corrupt or not. Dictators never like rule of law. Whether they are wearing khaki or civilian garb in government. |
Daejoyoung:True. But they are still life forms. Until recently we didn't know that other higher animals like chimps or elephants grieve. Just about 220 years ago, slave traders still thought black people didn't have a soul and were no different from animals. At least the Catholic church endorsed that view. But maybe as we begin to increasingly accept that death is a part of life cycle, albeit the pain and grief, it begins to make more sense. I think our ancient ancestors in Africa made the best sense of it. Without any outside influence. They believed that death was just an elevation to to the spiritual realm of the gods. Becoming part of the ancestral deity. They also believed that at some point, the dead will re-incarnate typically as the child of a beloved relative: son, daughter, brother, sister, nephew, niece. Or even come as a child of wealthy friend or distant relative. Even if just to escape the poverty and deprivation of previous life or achieve prominence that he lacked in previous life. So even if modern religious and scientific views may not support our ancestors philosophy, it still shows that making sense of life and death is an age-old dilemma. |
Favouramani:But you will not blame car maker for making cars that can be involved in accidents? Neither car maker nor God/ creator is to blame. Without going religious about Adam and Eve, simply see it as anything that has a beginning must have an end. If we say we die because God punished Adam and Eve, what sin did trees and animals commit to die? A big strong California oak can live for over 100 years. But some get blown down by wind or storm in their prime, other get infected by disease and die. In the same way people will die at different ages from different things. But it still does not diminish the sanctity or importance of every human life. Even assuming excluding religious stuff. |
9japrof:Lol. Tell me something. Abeg forget this oyinbo definition. Women do far more of that. Even married women sending nude pics to other men. I know men who have seen it in wives' smart phones. Did the men boil water and or soup and pour on the women? No. One person I know with a very good job by 9ja standards. He pampered his fiancee immensely, paying her school fees and showing her off everywhere. Before taking the next step, he decided to check her phone. He nearly died of heart attack. He fell into depression. Even after engagement the babe was still flexing several guys steady. Did he beat her, slap her or pour her soup? No. He walked away. A couple of years on the girl is still perambulating about town. So no be today. |
Ngokafor:Then why has she stayed since and embarrass herself so publicly? If in deed has been doing it (maybe eating eba with women, possibly work colleagues construed as cheating by an insecure loose cannon woman) what has she been waiting for? If she can easily do without him, why not just go home and pack her stuff, or kick the man out if she owns the place? If na the man prick dey sweet her, there are other pricks outside owned by men "who do not eat eba" with other women. Let her go follow one of the faithful men out there na. For me it is not a threat. I would not even stay with such a woman that would not make me happy enough that I have to go after women outside. If indeed the man does so. I'd be long gone. |
Ariel20:If she's the breadwinner, why would he f-up carrying another woman? I just think her dad might be rich, connected or a top military man. Some of those former "barrack girls" can capitalize on dad's gra gra power. |
April4th:35% of firstborn kids even belong to another man. And 25% of all kids. Are those kids fathered by spirits? We know for sure women cheat more these days. Reason is simple: a woman only has to say yes and she gets who to cheat with. A man has to do all the rigmarole of toasting and paying for outing/dates and buying gifts. In this harsh economy lots of men cannot afford it. So the richer guys (which are relatively) get to date as many women as they like. But an averagely good looking lady will find people hitting on her at some point. Without her making any effort. |
Maybe na amateur home movie. Any woman tries such nonsense with me she's moving in with her parents. She did not catch them in bed. She saw them dining. Maybe dinning is the new sex. Even if, I have not seen any 9ja law that forbids polygamy. If she cannot take it she can leave. No assault. Marriage is not by fire by force. But feminists only see domestic violence when it's a man beating a woman. No law permits anyone to use physical violence. Who knows, the woman may already be violent at home. Anyway na as the woman see the man reach. |
Omeokachie:Lol. I'd have believed this as part of his presidential inaugural speech. But with election so close, Atiku having repeatedly openly voiced support for state police, I cannot take Bubu seriously on this. He has also seen a rise in SW people asking for state police. He knows he has to pacify SW to win 2019 election. After winning he will change his tune. Even if he wanted to, Mamman Daura and cabal won't allow it. |
Good job |
Lots of women are that confused. They make nyanga a lot only to go and secretly regret it or blame someone else for it. If she keeps insisting "No" take it as NO. stop. All women are not exactly same. Maybe the very one you think did not mean it actually does. Better have your freedom. Than go to jail because a woman who is not even your wife. |
SalamRushdie:Very smart guy you be. I wrote somewhere yesterday on another Nairaland thread that they will soon tell us to vote Buhari to finish off Boko and Shekau. And now this. ![]() Those who cannot read between the lines will think he is calling to take up arms. All he is doing is to appear weary and close to defeat...... But still poses enough danger. And who better to complete the job than Buhari and Buratai if given just another term in office? ![]() |
Lexusgs430:Anini's parents were very responsible people in their village. So were parents of many wayward kids. Away from home some kids succumb to peer pressure and do all kinds of things. It is only by the grace of God. |
That Zim country sef seriously need Bro GeeZus. |
Is this not the same Andrew that checked out during Buhari's military govt? Has he Alao-Akalised his skin to white? ![]() Chai, oyinbo just dey grab our most creative and smart babes. Chimamanda Adichie sef follow oyinbo man. Na Nkwobi eating and Guinness drinking ones dem they leave behind. Diaris God o. |
Nice work. |
@Areahusband42, her being a good wife has nothing to do with being from the Philippines. You can find such a woman from any country. Like any country they also have the good and the not so good. However, you should be in a better position to say all this 20 to 25 years from now. You have both gone through life's challenges and raised kids together a long way. |
mindee:Good. I planned such a project in Ogun too. I had to abandon it after foundation & German floor. Because I am not impressed by how the person handling it has been doing it. Not quality wise, but he likes to do it piecemeal. That way you can never know how much will complete it. More chance to inflate prices. You know our people easily get offended and call you ungrateful when you scrutinize their work. |
