Works for the most part. it might be as spectacular as stated. |
The guy's mum holds the ace here. I doubt the Edo father who married an Igbo woman can really wholeheartedly object. I guess his wife claims to know her fellow Igbo better. Fact is no tribe or state has only bad women or good women. It is a mixed bag everywhere. ![]() |
What is the population of Ijaw in Edo South compared to Ondo? What is the geographical spread? Because spoiling for a fight, bloodshed and crisis & threatening brimstone is one thing, common sense and objectivity is another. At a time when creation of states and LGAs has made govt recurrent expenditure excessive, why create more bureaucracy? What is the essence of creating more monarchies in the 21st century? Is that what development and first class citizenship really mean? |
Any pictures too see? Thanks. |
waleco2008:Which title document goes with each of these properties? |
Bizibi:Even with their sky-high interest rates, they still treat clients like poo. Crazy. |
Well the man is being honest. Not that we didn't know that already. Maybe deep down he's not money-orientated and ought to live a simple quiet life. But has been an opportunist who could not resist the lure of power. But his admission sums up why he doesn't know that investors need an enabling environment. Since he does not strive to make money, he cannot understand the struggles and anxieties of investors and prospective ones. Even when told by experts, it will remain just a theory to him. |

Tracypacy:My dear even in the West, fertility issues cause much anxiety among couples. These days you have gays/lesbians, transgender and other seeking advise on fertility. Even more complex now. The reason it is better in the West is that there is more empathy and help from excellent healthcare system. Life is also more individualistic in the West, slightly reducing pressure from parents, inlaws, friends, neighbours, to have own kids. But TTC couples find it tough still. Adoption is always a good option. The happiness and better state of mind following adoption can have physiological benefits that can make conception possible down the line. Especially if the cause has been deemed idiopathic. I have seen such cases. But in Africa people think adoption means that you have already given up. Have they included ICSI with PGD in their IVF? |
ashjay001:Well we cannot blame any one person for disappearance of groundnut pyramids. Same as cocoa. Many educated people in Ekiti, Ondo, Oyo and other places, their parents sponsored them to study abroad with cocoa money. We cannot expect UK trained lawyers, medics, economists and others to return and take over the cocoa farms. At least we Africans do not do things that way. Failure to mechanise farming was the main cause. As a kid I saw vast rice fields and massive cocoa plantations. These plantations died out. Cocoa plants reach peak yield around 10 to 20 years depending on species. Ibadan became the envy of Africa through cocoa money. As more kids went to school and polygamy reduced, rural labour force reduced or became expensive. All those coups that never allowed one long term plan or vision to materialise did not help. Gowon came with plan to move FCT to Abuja/Suleja, though he initially wanted Jos to be new FCT. But he feared he would be accused of favouring his place (Jos). The mild weather of Jos actually made it a better option. He also had plans for Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos. He worked on sea port that benefited Lagos. He began NYSC to foster national unity & introduced the Naira in place of Pounds. His no victor no vanquished stance after Biafra war was a moderate and re-conciliatory one. But people remember the negative stuff more: cement ships/contract scandal, taking over missionary schools, indigenization decree that harmed foreign investment in non-oil sector, Udoji award that caused inflation, indefinite postponement of return to democracy instead of planned 1976, etc. Whatever his failure, we have had 42 years since to get it right but have failed too. |
ashjay001:Remember that much of his time was taken up by political crisis and civil war. Then rebuilding after 1970. Coming out of brutal civil war is not easy for any country. For me his actual failure was not being able to avoid the war as the head of state. Had he prepared better for Aburi conference he would have negotiated an agreement with Dim Ojukwu that both sides would have been happy with. I guess he was not educated or experienced enough being so young when he became leader at 32. Gen. Femi Ogundipe, 10 years senior and senior in military hierarchy to Gowon might have handled the Biafra crisis better. Oil price only actually went up in 1972/3 during Arab-Israeli war and if you ask your older family members they will remember the "Udoji" boom of that era. Well maybe Udoji award money could have been better used to invest in the future. But coming from the war just recently, I guess they wanted to splash out a bit. And civil servants enjoyed it. Many buying a car for the first time. ![]() Murtala Mohammed dismantled the decent civil service Gowon left behind. The civil service has never recovered from it till now. |

harrwix:People forget that a child needs both dad and mum growing up. Yes sometimes not possible (like death) but that is the way nature made it. She might think she's doing a great job now raising the boy alone. Only time will tell is she has raised a man "better" than her ex. If a couple cannot bury their differences to make their marriage work, they can hardly be an example for the kids to emulate. They can blame each other as to why the marriage failed. But fact is both got their priorities wrong in choosing a spouse. And therefore created the wrong environment to raise a child. |
MhizzAJ:OBJ was his senior right from time. IBB is about a year older. At least the official age back in 1983 after the coup. |
wwwtortoise:They are different actors. You could say Pa Olu is more versatile. Not surprising because of his extensive theatre experience both home and in UK. Whereas Mazi Edochie was defined very early by Okonkwo in Things Fall Apart role. The latter has a narrower range but can be as intensive as the former. |
Chevronstaff:I know they will give him a chieftaincy title somewhere in Nigeria before he leaves. Let Okorocha link him with a real Igwe somewhere. And erect a giant Henry statue. ![]() |
hisgrace090:Look, many here are aspiring pastors. Many are jobless and dream of big money through church business. They are not interested in the Biblical truth about tithes. They want easy money. Others do not want to believe that the MoG they worship is collecting their money without biblical backing. Leave them to wallow in their ignorance and self deception. It is their money. ![]() |
mmsen:People in our environment like to force their own way of life down others' throats. It is not just churches. It is society in general. |
At least someone honest. Most people sin daily. Even in our posts here on NL. Sin is sin, small or big. Special advisers should look at themselves first. ![]() @OP sinners cannot help you here. We can only be sanctimonious. Moses committed one major error and was denied seeing the promised land. Even blessed King David let konji get the better of him. Another man's wife even. Salvation is not just through faith, work, discipline, commitment, piety, etc. It is largely through the grace of God. |
DoyenExchange:I may not like him, just like other corrupt politicians who have been in power for decades and failed to take us forward, but we have to admit that the man is an astute businessman who has used his stolen money to create local jobs. At least some of his money is working in Nigeria. Not many can boast of that. |
2horsePOWER:I think we Africans are a bit confused and currently at cross-roads. We largely profess middle eastern religions these days, condemning our culture when it suits us. But all these ceremonies have to do with our culture. Of which our traditional region is actually a part. Because our native religion sprang out our cultural and social state. In the Nigerian mind, it is about given the dead a "befitting" burial. Going out with a bang. I wonder if the number of cows and volume of food and drinks people consume make it befitting. How about ensuring the person lives a befitting life? |

wiloy2k8:With so many innocent blood crying out, how will a country go forward? |
The story, the pics/manner of gun wounds and the weapons do not add up. Fake SARs with such sophisticated weapons in broad daylight, stealing gadgets that fetch little money but very conspicuous. If they investigate, it could be just stubborn young guys who refused to settle when accosted. And things got out of hand. Execution at close range. After they were beaten up. Fake SARS look very suspicious in a hot place like Rivers. One cannot help but be incredulous knowing how common execution of innocent people and suspects is by NPF. Very suspicious. |
JoeMaddog:I get your point dude. A very super qualified sister of a friend was turned down in a military Short Service Course recruitment earlier this year. An amazingly pretty intelligent girl. Top score in the tests including medical and exercise. Even an insider senior military guy was shocked. Apparently nobody from certain tribes/regions was to be recruited at all in that batch. So the insider found out. But why was it not made official so that people from certain regions do not bother to travel across several states to take part in the recruitment exercise? I am sure that even the regions favoured, it would still mostly be connected people who got in. Seeing the massive talent in that girl the military turned down, it is easy to see why 9ja is where it is. |
I see no big deal in that. Touching her would be sexual assault or ra.pe otherwise. In fact there was no need to bathe her. Though he probably did it in good faith. Getting her nude and washing her while unaware would be a sexual crime in many countries. Back in the day it was normal to get any drunk friend, male or female, back home safely whenever possible or Females can stay over with another female . |
xynerise:Abi o. Given a choice most women would do so quietly. She's just being honest. Not that women have to be faithful these days. She buy several studs with the rich man's money. ![]() |
Bolster:Lol. Did any of the leaders de-register us from OIC? No! Why be a member if you have no intention of attending? At least to see what's it's all about? They were being hypocritical by not going but sending their subordinates to go. You do not think your questions make any sense to warrant any answers, do you? |
