Bolster: Lol. You're just driving about the bush.
You didn't even answer my question. Are you suggesting that because GEJbis Ijaw and minority he shouldn't be probed by PMB who is a Fulani and majority? Is it PMB fault that his predecessor is a minority? Simple questions are you jumped into history.
The funny part is that you're even getting your history wrong. Lol. FYI, Buhari was the first Head of State to refuse to register Nigeria with IOC. IBB eventually registered Nigeria. And GEJ was the first President to attend their meetings.
And you're still viewing issues with your tainted glass. Wane yourself off of your tribalism perhaps you can be a patriot, perhaps. Election lie in 2015. He was kicked out before he could. He applied for membership. Buhari applied for membership. I made it clear that membership approved when IBB was in power. Because I knew you would make that claim. GEJ did what was incumbent on a country that signed up to something. Why be a member and only send ministers? You're either in or out. I know only a few years from now, many like you will say GEJ made us a member of OIC. |

Bolster: From your submission it's obvious you're a tribalist who sees everything through the tainted glass of tribe and religion.
Is it PMB fault that his predecessor is an Ijaw man? Or are suggesting because GEJ is from Ijaw he shouldn't be probed. Why didn't GEJ, a minority probe OBJ, a majority? By the way the guy that's been in jail since PMB started his war against corruption is your so-called Hausa/Fulani, Sambo Dasuki. Is he a minority? What would you have said your so-called minority was the guy that's been jailed for over 2 years now? Guy, it's obvious you've ran out ideas.
Like I said picking low-hanging fruits is what's happening. You could apply such tactic to your own work and personal life. It will help you a great deal. Maybe you were not born then but Buhari is punishing Dasuki because it was the same Dasuki who arrested Buhari when his ass was kicked out after 20 months in which he built nothing on ground. Despite his penchant for imprisoning Southerners (including Ekweme & Pa Ajasin that the court ordered released due to no case against them), he did not build even a single prison cell in 20 months. All he did was take us to join (applied for) Islamic Organisation. That finally came through in IBB regime. Buhari has a long history of Vendetta. Buhari was the first Nigerian kidnapper. Long before Evans. He ordered Isrealis to kidnap Umaru Dikko in the streets of London. Now the reason is not corruption. The reason was that Dikko nearly cost him his dream of being Head of State. Dikko had warned Shagari about Buhari, from his military insider contacts. But instead of retiring Buhari, he sent him to faraway Jos as GOC. Believing that being faraway from the critical Ibadan & Lagos commands was enough to thwart his coup. Buhari had a history with the only other core-Northern civilian governor (guess his name without google search) that he arrested/imprisoned then. I have written exclusively on it over the years here on NL. Many kiddies like you think life began with google. It did not. Many like me witnessed life long before it. With family member doing proper investigative journalism. Of course they endured the wrath of the brutal Buhari back then. But his boys kicked his ass out soon enough. Buhari is a vengeful Fulani man. Every Fulani will admit that they never forget things done to them. As for tribalism, it is only a pregnant woman that has ever had sex. Others are virgins. You spew tribalism, your approach to life and perspectives are steeped in tribalism, yet you accuse someone pointing it out to you as a tribalist? GEJ is low hanging because he has no influence over Lagos-Ibadan press, has a small ethnic base and therefore an easy prey for those who believe they own Nigeria. Pretend you do not know that everything in Nigeria is along the lines of ethno-religious consideration, school admission, political zoning, govt employment, number of NASS members, FEC members, etc. Keep doing the ostrich. |

Good idea. Many armies worldwide have it. But considering scarce resources, it seems like duplication of job?
Couldn't they just second pilots from the air force to the army?
I remember that former HoS Abubakar was seconded from the Air Force to the army as a young man. |

Bolster: Lol see epistle abeg. Anyway, after taking time to read through your story I discovered you haven't heard of the phrase: "low-hanging fruit".
Just to be clear you know what I'm talking about, plucking the low-hanging fruits is "a course of action that can be undertaken quickly and easily as part of a wider range of changes or solutions to a problem."
To start an investigation you start from the closest clues you have. Before PMB there was GEJ, before GEJ there was OBJ, before OBJ there AA, before AA there was SA, before SA there was IBB. So, are you saying PMB should start investigation of corruption by jumping 5 administration and start from IBB? Does that even make any sense to you?
If successive governments have done the right things, SA would have investigated IBB, AA will do SA, OBJ will do AA, GEJ will do OBJ and PMB will do GEJ. Of all these leaders only PMB is doing what is expected of him: probe your immediate predecessor.
Again, picking low-hanging fruits.
Also, investigation shouldn't be for its sake alone, investigation must be done to be effective and efficient. Do you know how long and the resources it will take to investigate from 1985? Do you think PMB would discover any corruption that way before the end of his 8-year tenure?
Again, picking low-hanging fruits.
So forget that your history lecture of starting from Okotie-Eboh, it's superfluous and supererogatory.
Like said I'm glad you didn't deny the fact that GEJ government was corrupt. That's a start. Yet, claiming 'you brother too is a theif' to defend your own brother's kleptomaniac behaviour is not only weak, immoral but also laughable.
Call a spade, a spade and let the work continue. Low hanging as in the one that is not from SW or Hausa-Fulani? If you believe alleged corruption by minority people is what you need to fight to cleanse 9ja of the monumental corruption since 1960, then you are not serious. Just tribalistic. Every govt should be probed. All including GEJ's. But I only wonder if someone who ran the corrupt PTDF under Abacha even has the moral high ground to probe anyone. Or someone who refused to attend Oputa Panel can talk of any democratic credentials or integrity. But your type only work on primitive tribal instincts devoid of any sense of justice or fairness. Funny that in the third year of APC regime they are still struggling to prove the corruption allegations against the previous govt. Is it that they are recovering money and quietly pocketing it.....another group's turn or their wild allegations were largely baseless and are too ashamed to admit it? Because the govt has the resources and institutions to do its job that it claimed it would. Oh! I forgot, most APC members today were the people who ran PDP as ministers, governors, commissioners and other PDP officials. Let them be fooling you. |

Bolster: You see, the funny thing about you guys is you have never claimed GEJ wasn't corrupt in fact y'all always accept that fact but it seems you only have issues when only GEJ is spoken off. Isn't that the truth.
For instance, you didn't say $32b wasn't lost to corruption under GEJ, you only wonder why DFID didn't talk about OBJ. Well, I'm not concerned about, I'm only bothered about the immediate past which DFID just said stole more than $32b. If DFID talk about OBJ I'll respond that. But if you have information about amount stolen under OBJ inform the world and we will thank you for it.
But for now, all we know is GEJ stole Nigerians future in 6 years. Imagine if that $32b wasn't stolen and it is added to the $38b PMB has built our Reserves to by now we would be having more $70bn in Foreign Reserves. Do you know the impacts that will have on value of Naira? Do you know how that would influence huge FDIs? Do you know how much of developmental projects could be invested on? Do you know the number of jobs that would be created as multiplier effects of these?
Please stop defending corruption, it is not even in your own interest. It is only idiots who would claim that any Nigerian regime since 1960 has never been corrupt. In fact no govt in the world can claim not to have corrupt elements in it. Have you heard of Okotieh-Eboh and corruption in the first republic? Corruption was there. I still remember Buhari using corruption to justify his coup that killed our position as a beacon of African democracy in 1983. If there was corruption during GEJ govt is because corruption is now in Nigeria's DNA. You see in universities, all places of work, contract awards, schools, everywhere. This current govt where the president goes abroad for months and leave the country to the cabals is even more economically & morally corrupt. Especially a president that came to power shouting integrity but even his wife and kid complain of no paracetamol in state house clinic, despite the huge budget. Only Zombies claim that their politicians are saints ruling in a heaven-like kingdom. And only others are corrupt. Buhari even claimed that Abacha was a saint. Yet Abacha loot are still being returned till today. Buhari had to say that to cover his loot and reckless spending of billions running PTDF under Abacha. Now what we're saying is let any talk of corruption be comprehensive including all regimes, the "estimated" loot amounts and how much recovered. With a breakdown of how they arrived at the estimates. Any organisation can claim anything whether government owned or independent. Are independent bodies not run by people? People of any persuasion can be corrupt and be used to do anybody's bidding. We need full details to judge if they are serious or kekerebo people. Simple. |

Bolster: This is how you guys will be blowing hot air for nothing.
If you how much was lost to corruption under GEJ please inform the world, if you don't please be quite and let people with the resources and expertise to inform the world.
Also, the report said the $32b could well be an underestimate so the $50b you said Sanusi Lamido touted could be right.
Meanwhile, in claiming that GEJ didn't rule for 6 years kindly tell us when Yaradua died, when GEJ started to be acting President and when he was sworn in as the substantive President before his reelction in 2011.
It is shame that the same youths the DFID was encouraging to stand against corruption because it is your future that's been stolen away, are the same youths defending the most corrupt President in the history of Nigeria. Who did this to you guys? Lol. The DFID has never heard of OBJ regime with all the billions of dollars budgeted for roads that grew wings? Suddenly DFID is a credible body because it is about GEJ regime. I guess you will differ it is about a regime (state or Federal) led by a person of your tribe. Let us shun hypocrisy. If talking of corruption it should involve all regimes from 1960. Was it not GEJ who wanted to scrap oil subsidy to prevent the rampant scam? Who led protest against it? Who are the main scammers? Hypocrites you lot. |

GoggleB: This report is baseless. It states "Goodluck Jonathan serves as Nigeria's President for 6 years", but that's fallacious. He was sworn-in as President on May 5, 2010 & handed over on May 29, 2015. Even an illiterate knows that's 5 years. It's hard to believe a literate wrote this. Oh! That should not surprise you. If they had their way, they'd say GEJ has ruled 9ja since 1960 and responsible for ITT, GULF War windfall loot, Halliburton and everything else that ever afflicted 9ja. Very interesting how the report never mentioned how the "estimate" was made and forgot about other regimes. Sanussi Lamido once touted $50 billion dollars. This estimate is small. Expect $1 trillion next time. |

Whether deliberately or subconsciously. Moreover polygamy (the guy is not even married yet) is still widely practised in many places. So OP can be his second lady. No biggie. In all honesty what percentage of people (men & women) remain faithful throughout all their relationships & marriages? VERY few nowadays. OP you can go on and date the guy if you would not mind another girl dating your guy too and you're ready to face whatever comes your way: being dumped soon after, heartache, acid bathe from his girlfriend, etc. After all life is all about risk. Alexas58: Please am in need of advices here
My dad has a younger brother whom he trained to the university before he died, being his only brother! My dads father died when he finished secondary school and my dad was the only one that the family could look up to. So he did some jobs, got some money and trained his younger brother to the university level..
My uncle graduated 10 years ago and nothing to show of it.. My father tried giving him a work to do in a bank, he refused the work and started having problems with my father.
Fast forward now my dad is late, has left behind some kids which are in the university and others are still attending school.
Instead of my uncle to put hands with my mum and burry my father, he is busy dragging my mum to the village that they should share some of my father's property with him, saying that my dad never did anything for him, meanwhile my dad trained him to the University which he never did to any of his children before he died.
Please..my need for posting this is to know if there is any place or anywhere that says that my Uncle must inherit a part of my late father's property, because its part of this property we the children are going to use and establish ourselves and my dad gave a wish that nobody should sell any of his lands while on the sick bed!
Please which legal backing and traditional backing can we use to prevent my uncle from going near that land!..because that land is worth hundreds of millions of naira now!! Thanks
Please I need solutions too..because we are suspecting him of killing my father because of all his actions!...
Thanks Please clarify this. Did your grandfather leave land and other assets when he died? If yes did your dad's siblings get a share of your grandfather's properties? Depending on your local culture, if your dad inherited all of your grandfather's your uncle might well be entitle to a share of it. And indeed your aunts if any. Because if your granddad's wealth was shared already, your uncle has no entitlement to your dad's assets. This is something many father's do not anticipate when alive: siblings can make life difficult for wife & kids once dead. There should always be a will and existing disputes over family inheritance not postponed. Chiwetalu Agu's common portrayals in Nollywood films do happen in real life. |

kokomilala: @Areafada2, Mugabe is different from Nkrumah in many ways. The West made Nkrumah fail,a victim of politics of the metropole. The value of cocoa,Ghana's chief export commodity then, was devalued by about 600 % ,and then about 5million GBP of Ghana's money was held by The Bank of England. The import was that Nkrumah's government failed. No government can succeed without funds. When Ayi Kwei Armah wrote The Beautyful Ones Are Not Yet Born,he was hailed by the West, because he painted his country in bad light. But when he saw the light ,the true picture ,the politics and intrigues of Nkrumah's failure,he had a change of heart,a new mentality concerning the West.Thrn,he wrote Two Thousand Seasons, where he depicted the West as white maggots.Heinmann that had published his books earlier on stopped. In fact,it was Wole Soyinka who came to his defence that it was more than a racist tract. Concerning Patrice Lummumba, the world knew then that it was the CIA through his country men like Kasavuvu.I have a book that detailed it.In fact, the CIA had made some people rich before they brought Lummumba down. They gave people as much as 2 million Dollars. It's the stock in trade of the CIA. They've overthrown over 44 governments. Back to Mugabe,we are talking about a regional ,political dinosaur here.Once the British Parliament recognized him after many attempts and finally gave Rhodeshia, now Zimbabwe independence from 1979 to 1980,he gradually morphed into a tyrant, killing his rivals, stifling dissent through state forces. His case is that of a liberator becoming a dictator. The sensations are always the same: it starts with an impulse to liberate. Then a gesture. But there's a space, very vast space between the two. That space,to borrow from Soyinka's word,is what separates the liberator from the dictator, the explorer from the conqueror. It is a space of pure unadulterated ecstasy of power. Majority of Zimbabweans are living below poverty levels, grappling with an atrocious 50% inflation level. His wife sometime ago bought a jewelry worth 1.4 million Dollars. His son flaunted a 60k Dollar wrist watch on social media, and poured champagne on it the 2go owing day. So,how is Mugabe populist ? How is he sensitive to the cries of his people. For a most 4 decades,he held his country by the throat. I insist that Africa is better off without the likes of him,and history would not speak well of him.In fact, generations unborn are likely to spit on his grave when he's long gone. Was Nkrumah not accused of of that when Ghana became a one-party state and Osagyefo saw himself as president for life plus hounded opposition? Mugabe seized land taken from Africans back. That is the main reason for Western sanctions. Do not let BBC or CNN fool you. He just isn't as forgiven as Mandela was. Mugabe never forgave refusal of the British to leave prison temporarily to bury his son who died. |

Your argument about Arabic prowess can't hold water amongst Northern Christian communities in the North.
Official language in Nigeria is English not Arabic or Hausa All over Nigeria, many struggle with English. In the South there are now kids that cannot speak any local dialect. Only pidgin & English. Even we in the South what have we invented with our English grammar? Name one thing Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon has invented with all his grandiloquence. Let me tell you, in some of UK's best universities, VERY many PhD students are from China. Most cannot command English well at all. I first noticed that trend like 15 years back. Yet they finish their research across STEM subjects returning to China to further increase the industrial prowess. China is not English speaking yet they excel. If you saw a Northerner doing PhD in a top UK university, you can equally take his not so brilliant English for low IQ. While top Western academics thin otherwise. You have not done any peer-reviewed work comparing IQ in the North & South of 9ja among similar age groups & of similar social-economic status to make any sense. In this age of knowledge just saying what you think, though your right, does not make it true. Evidence-based work is what coun, not subjective observations. |

That is what many said of Nkrumah when he was deposed. Some even said he was paranoid for fearing the West were after him, to poison/kill him. Decades later his Akosombo dam remains Ghana's major light source, his universities the only ones until like 15 years ago. Most of Ghana's infrastructure until President Kuffuor dated from Nkrumah And finally we learnt around 10 years ago that CIA killed Patrice Lumumba (CIA admitted tacitly)......for same reason of closeness to USSR during cold war. Something Nkrumah always said and knew, but all dismissed as paranoia. History will have a different view to Western version that we currently take for Biblical truth. Just like Nkrumah's case. All those jostling to be president all fed fat under his regime and worked under his government, some for as long as Mugabe has been in power. So they have no integrity to talk about. |

Pidgin2: Why is English so hard for an average Northerner to speak and write, even the educated ones? After spending years studying a language one is expected to have a good command of it or should we conclude that you people are not just intelligent enough. For example, if the same group of people were exposed to another intellectual language e.g. German, they will still find it difficult to grasp. In conclusion, it seems like the intelligence quotient of an average Northerner is low. Lol. It has nothing to do with IQ. Remember that Northerners became educated before Southerners. Uthman Dan Fodio was writing many religious treatise in the 1790s/1810s. A time very few in the South were educated. A matter of priority. I think the South looks towards Western education and the North look towards Arabic/Middle Eastern religion/education. Remember that in medieval times, Arabic science eclipsed Western science, be it in Maths/algebra (Arabic invention), astronomy, medicine, etc. Western science as we know it now borrowed from Arabic work. Remember that most Hausas are very well-informed about the world and politics via BBC Hausa. Even your Mai-Chai has his radio beside him. You quickly labelled me a Northerner because of my objectivity. I am not. By the way I learnt various Western languages with various people, including some Northerners. Some are lawyers, medics, accountants today. Plying their trade in the West. All very articulate in Western languages. Let's not the bigoted. |

sexybbstar: I believe these teachers are brilliant but they find it hard to express themselves in English language. Maybe vernacular should be adopted. No be by force to teach with English language... Most of them have good things to offer but to express themselves is the main issue. Tor! You just mentioned what many refuse to see. No matter how we take it, English is till a borrowed/second language. You realize that when you go to USA/UK/Canada, etc. If we had a proper regional system, we could use one regional language each alongside English in formal education. That way the problem of comprehension & pronunciation of English many face would not hinder their ability to be effective in their job. A journalist wrote something similar years ago. He witnessed a SW teacher struggle to explain her subject to her students in English. After the lesson, he was discussing with the teacher in Yoruba language. He said he was amazed how fluent and articulate she was in Yoruba. His conclusion was that the teacher would have been a far better teacher if the language of instruction was Yoruba. It is the same across Nigeria. Maybe just a bit more in the North because of the dominance of Hausa in daily life. |

bobbyruffy: i disagree on the joint account thang. Where's the love and being one A joint account should be separate from individual accounts. Set up a direct debit to direct money into joint account monthly as the case maybe. While secrecy over money is bad, lack of freedom to use own money individually can also cause agro. So the middle way above is reasonable. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Mobutu Sese Seko's Mansion Is Now Home To Rats, Bats, Snake (Photos) by AreaFada2: 12:52pm On Nov 17, 2017 |
ziccoit: The proper and correct title should have been "Congo government allowed her landed property decayed and became home to rats, snakes and what have you". That edifice if confiscated by government would have become an income generating machine to the government. But, this is Africa where their leaders don't think or when they do, they do it upside down.
The joke is on Congo government and its people not the senseless treasury looter and dictator. But still we have to respect others doing things their own way. Abi o. At least Sese Seko enjoyed it for many years. And he maintained albeit at public cost. It's now Congo people's loss. |
Nairaland General › Re: Nairaland Ranked Africa's Largest Forum. by AreaFada2: 9:15am On Nov 17, 2017 |
jacyhelen: Nairaland:A muslim forum. The forum is being Run just the way Nigeria is run!!! Why shld i admit being a muslim before i comment in some section,is that not tyrancy ?? My dear I do not know o. I do not comment there either. There enough topics to follow. Maybe different groups have different attitudes towards freedom of speech and modern liberal values. Otherwise I cannot see why the "gagging order". But it does not seat well considering that many of those who do not want others to comment about their belief are quite eager to comment on other people's belief. But still we have to respect others doing things their own way. |
