Lonergem: ![]() Only difference is that the rats & Bubu have no kids together. An average dad considers the kids first, always hoping the wife would improve. You know we dudu style, friends and family will always tell you to be patient, that there is no perfect woman out there, that he should bear with her.....yada yada yada. Before you know it, three kids have come and 10 years have passed. ![]() More often than not the man just gives up and tolerates a very unsuitable spouse. Perhaps only ever finding joy in another lady outside. |
Efewestern:My dear this thing na luck jare. That kind of mother-in-law will deploy both diabolical & church powers to suppress her son-in-law. People claim Christianity but easily forget Ephesians 5:31, Genesis 2:24, Mark 10:7, Matthew 19:5 that clearly state oneness of man and wife. They will not let them be but keep interfering as MIL, SIL, etc. Sadly it happens in both high & average places. Queen Itohan of Ile-Ife's case is looking like one of those in high places if media reports are anything to go by. |
RIP. |
baby124:In your assertion, you mentioned chances of both dying from "same disease". That is why I gave several diseases that couples do die from. Including stroke, lung cancer & coronary artery disease. To now you will have to be privy to at least the death records in a place similar to where they live (in UK). Like a typical tertiary hospital or an audit report on such. My dear, you are the one making assertions. You began claiming to know exactly the cause. I only cautioned on such a claim. And highlighted other probabilities. The multi-factorial causes of cancers is now well-recognised. That is why prevention is still a bit difficult. Though nutrition is important to all aspects of health. The classical case of colorectal cancer (CRC) increase due to dietary/lifestyle changes (especially increased eating of red meat/beef) are Japanese who moved to America from Japan. Those in Hawaii & California now even have higher rates than average local Americans. And way higher than Japanese in Japan. But even at that interim report showed combined rapid NAT2 genotype and rapid CYP1A2 phenotype as increasing the risk of CRC in people who adopted a Western diet high in meat. Meat/alcohol consumption in people already genetically pre-disposed also increased CRC. You are talking authoritatively as if you have evidence. My mentor was actually a man categorised as an "extra-ordinary international talent". So much that he was given a waiver on USMILE and other American board certifications to practice in USA. And he used to fly fortnightly between Europe & USA for work in oncology in both continents. Hence I said we should be mindful of sounding authoritative where we are not. Even I cannot claim expertise, It takes a couple of decades. |
adisabarber:Go back to topics posted over a year ago. In there I corrected many that his departed father visited my town & I still vividly remember him in my relative's palace during the thank you visit. He began it in Bendel State of then. The current Oba has already done a tour of Benin-speaking areas of Edo State. I also pointed out that his father visited up to Sokoto. He visited every part of Nigeria. The late Oba was particularly intrigued by the royal court practices in Owo/Olowo Royal Palace, how close to Benin Royal palace practices they were. I also wrote that I had several relatives in his entourage back then. I was a kid but I remember everything. Even the Oba's car, attire, ocassion, etc. Perhaps re-enforced by pictures taken then. Oba Erediauwa even included some details of the nationwide thank you visit in his autobiography "I Remain, Sir, Your Obedient Servant". I also confidently said that the current Oba would do same in good time. Just because a Benin person says something on social media does not mean he knows the facts. There have also been topics about how the crown prince does not see the Oba. I also rubbished that assertion. I gave a clear example how Oba Akenzua (reigned 1933 to 1979), the King's College Lagos educated crown prince then was secretary to his own father Oba Eweka II (reigned 1914 to 1933). Akenzua personally read the manuscript of Chief Dr. Jacob Egharevba's "A Short History of Benin" to his father before it was published in the early 1930s. He could not have done so if both were forbidden to see. What really happens is that once the first son is invested as crown prince (Edaiken n'Uselu) upon attaining maturity, he's then required to officially move into Edaiken Palace at Uselu, a village just outside ancient Benin Walls & Moats, but today actually has grown to be contiguous with Benin. Seek the right information from reliable sources. |
baby124:And what are the odds of both dying from canned food ONLY statistically? My dear we are talking of clinical stuff here, not a wild guess. We do see couples who never smoked or only one was a smoker dying of coronary heart disease, lung cancer, stroke and others. Should we then ignore the fact that one was a plumber of 40 years exposed to asbestos & the other's both parents died of same disease? And assume that both lived an unhealthy lifestyle together as the only probable cause? ![]() One needs to be mindful of things one posts on health topics. There are already too many health misconceptions & outdated beliefs out there. |
Picture of the plot/area please. |
dingbang:When you tell people that what is doctrine today is a fusion of Western medieval culture & canon law/theological interpretations over time, they will not understand. Early Christians like those feed to lions by Nero could not have believed that the world would still exist by now. To them the end was very near. So focusing on making paradise was paramount. Sex, kids, marriage & material wealth were not part of it. Imagine Paul who gave up a lucrative tent making business supplying the vast Roman army. He was a kind of defence/military contractor of that time. We Africans generally copy/practice what we do not know. All religions are same. They fuse theology with some of the traditional cultures of place of religion's origin/peoples who first accepted it en masse. |
baby124:Such a conclusion is very hasty. No evidence. Delta people do not joke with their properly cooked food. Many large families do still eat decently. Aside nutrition there are other important risk factors: family history, genetics like polyposis & non-polyposis, smoking, inactivity/obesity, alcohol, disgestive tract conditions like Crohn's, Ulcerative colitis, etc. |
ADEWUMIMichael:You don't mean it? Any survey to prove this? I know from Internet Tracking report that 9ja is the second or so in the world in internet porn. I think Pakistan was rated first. So much about conservatism & religiosity. |
drizzymadbet:Jonathan had 6 months after Confab report was submitted. And it would need to go through NASS. You obviously have no idea how long and tedious that would be. So you think election campaign period was a good time to begin such a process? With everyone raising funds and preparing for election? Talk is cheap p. You need to understand democracy first. Even a developed country like UK, it is not that easy. Jonathan began the process. What has Buhari done? What did OBJ do in 8 years to to restructure. Your strong "dictators" did nothing. I think gra-gra military culture has made people look at anyone following rule of law as weak. You need to look beyond your narrow 9ja horizon and see how law and democracy are allowed to work in civilised places. |
richidinho:They are bringing back Mo Lie's propaganda to justify an absentee president. ![]() Sometimes it seems Jonathan is still in charge if not for the bad economy, poverty & uncertainty in the land. Because they mention Jonathan more in their write ups. Because Bubu their messiah is nothing to write home about. Jonathan's FOI bill alone puts him ahead of every other ruler. Omenka wrote that Jonathan was roundly beaten. You'd think Buhari got 30 million votes and Jonathan got 10 million. A margin of a couple of millions in a country as big as 9ja, with all the Igbo voters cards SW people dumped in Ikorodu bushes, the massive underage voters fraud in the North especially Kano, Jonathan was not roundly beaten. An APC govt would have contested that result up to the supreme court. In an uncivilised place, the civility & political maturity of Jonathan would not be appreciated by gra-gra violent mentality people. Zombie people have been in bondage for too long. So long they now have no idea what to do with freedom. When American slaves were freed back then, many slaves wished to remain slaves. Because they had never tasted freedom before. So zombies are in the same situation. ![]() |

drizzymadbet:Well, we can now see clearly that whatever Jonathan's weaknesses as an accidental president, he's clearly one leader who saw something wrong with the warped structure of Nigeria. And duly convened a Confab. After all the coups & political upheavals that OBJ witnessed right from when Jonathan was still a baby, 3 years as a military leader & 8 years as a civilian president, OBJ has still not seen anything wrong with the structure of Nigeria. As the biggest net beneficiary of current Nigeria, he won't see any problem with the set up. But he will go down in history as having presided of 11 years of our checkered and woeful existence since independence. |
SalomonKane:Are you a friend of that pastor who said being single at 35 years of age is irresponsible? ![]() |
SalamRushdie:They are milking their dad's presidency for all it's worth. But hypocrisy is normal thing in 9ja na. Jonathan is the cause of all of Nigeria's woes since 1914. |
dominique:Abi o. As things are going these days many will not even find a life partner/spouse. The more the number of those opting out, the better the chances of girls who do want to marry. To begin with a sizeable number of couples with kids living together in 9ja are not married. They just cohabit. Only now churches are " forcing" many of their members to pay dowry and wed. We all cannot just lay down with all our heads facing one direction. In any case at 21, she still has many years to change her mind. Her choice. |
People and eye service. All leaving their duty posts to waste scarce resources going to Abuja. Have they never heard of emails? Or phone call? |
Baawaa: ![]() The very minute Jonathan conceded to Buhari, hangers-on ran away in various directions! They wanted him to hang on irrespective of election result. OBJ even said so, the reason he gave for raising money for his presidential library while still in office. He said once he's out of office, nobody would donate again. ![]() I have a relative who secured a juicy govt position not too long ago. I even heard it first from our very distant relatives. Such announcement in the media doesn't escape them. ![]() His phone has been like MTN customer service line since. I have called him only once since. I just told those sudden "family" people to please let him get on with his job than to besiege his office. They were all suddenly going to congratulate him in his new swanky office. Others want to send their jobless graduate children to him for employment. If at the end he doesn't flood the civil service with relatives, both good & mediocre, he'll be labelled to have not empowered his family. |
Sometimes you wonder how some people chose their king. I can see why serious monarchies stick to premogeniture. That way a future king is prepared for the role from birth. A king prepared for the job would know that Nigerian constitution demands political neutrality from traditional rulers. Because he would have understudied his father carefully knowing he would be next. But when money & politics are involved, anyone just from the royal family can emerge king. |

So if you have a wife and 9 children with kwashiorkor at the age of 33 you are responsible, bah? These people just help to perpetuate poverty. Why not ask all unmarried people to stop paying tithes and offering so they can save towards marriage to be responsible? Imagine the psychological impact on members of his church that take his words seriously. Some may now rush into marriage just to beat the 35 years deadline. |
Ex lovers of hers and the groom should be quickly investigated. They might still some light injuries or scratch mark on their skin somewhere. If the father of her kids or last kids was also her ex lover, then he would be prime suspect. They should also check if any of the groom's exes had received a similar threat in the past. |
In Nigeria, truth is sacrificed on the alter of ethno-religious sentiments. Those who think Nigeria is their conquered territory and those tagging along them to play second fiddle will not heed this. |
Love of money. |
dustmalik:The child is even lucky to be alive sef. It could have all ended tragically. Social services were too lenient with parents in some cases that ended tragically in the past. It ruined many careers and reputatoin of some local councils. They just cannot risk such again. The Court judges even less. Non-Accidental Injury (NAI) cases often present quite innocently with "apparently" doting parents using sweet mouth to explain how he injured himself while playing. Not! |
Teeboi56:Probably the best bush meat. Very lean meat. But it is so beautiful and graceful that it hurts to kill it. Reproduces slowly too. Only one or two each time. It should now be protected as the forests with nice canopies that it likes are disappearing. |
Dude, do the deed of transfer properly to make the land more attractive. Too many land disputes these days. If I remember correctly, the last time I passed the area almost three years ago, it was gradually opening up. |
