Orikinla:Very funny I tell you. ![]() But the story might have a twist. Maybe the girl wasn't initially aware he got her number from the stolen phone. Maybe the guy said they knew before. People funny sha. |
piagetskinner:Our grandparents and parents often say so but how true is it? We needed to be independent or remain an eternal colony. Period. If independence had come in 1980, 1990 or 2016 (with militants, Boko Haram, Fulani Herdsmen crisis), we still would not be better prepared to rule ourselves. It is about the structure & nature of Nigeria. The indirect colonial rule promoted formation of regional/ethnic parties leading up to independence. Political scientists largely agree on this. For example, NPC did not even campaign in the South. Inflated 1952/53 census figures could be easily used to manipulate election results for Northern rule. NCNC wasn't even incorporated in the North until about 1963 or 64. The North did everything to prevent AG campaigning up North. Now, does this look like a united country ready to go forward together? Certainly not! The signs were ominous and right there. Nigeria should have been split into two countries, North & South at Independence. Like India & Pakistan. The South would have since split too. The current unproductive/futile North-South power struggle is set to continue. Unfortunately. |
codemaniacs:Maybe you need to first understand the Distributable Pool Account (DPA) worked out at the London Constitutional Conference of 1957 & the Raisman-Tress Commision. The sources of Federal Revenue, etc. You also need to first properly understand why the 1962 census cancelled by Balewa govt angered AG/Awo & Eastern Region, when the 1963 census (re-instating inflated Northern population) was adopted by NPC. And the constitutional crisis that ensued. If the Fed didn't have massive revenues/developmental projects to distribute based on population figures (aside parliamentary seats), why then so much ado about it, if revenues really mostly stayed in the regions? It is all a myth. Midwest Region with a healthy revenue from Rubber, Cocoa & Timber had to grudgingly/diplomatically accept 1963 population figures, despite strongly protesting it initially. Why? Officially to maintain peace/national unity. Actually reason was serious threat from Fed govt to punish just over a year old new Region by withdrawing funds, projects; essentially cause crisis there. Centralisation stealthily began long ago & fed has been powerful economically/financially "it has tey". It was only formalised by Ironsi. |
InyinyaAgbaOku:I guess your problem is with tribe. You pay your taxes where you live and earn a living. Someone can go & live in Kafanchan if he doesn't want to live in or develop Lagos. Brazilians were returnee slaves, yes many were of Yoruba origin. But they remained in Lagos because of what it offered them: a cosmopolitan environment & opportunities next to the Europeans then. It still offers opportunities now, long after federal capital moved to Abuja. |
InyinyaAgbaOku:Read carefully: I wrote SW generally. But there is no denying that people educated in former Western region under Awo education programme made immense contribution to Lagos development: academics, industrialists, journalists, politicians, etc. Even the whites you are talking of, local taxes funded those developments. Returnee former slaves like the Brazilians also much influenced business, architecture, social scene, intellectual strides, political progress etc. |
codemaniacs:What? No federal income? No duties, taxes, etc? I give up. |
codemaniacs:Don't forget we had regionalism then. North had groundnut, SW cocoa, SE/SS had some coca, rubber & oil palm. In fact all of Southern Nigeria had fairly similar things to offer. Oil palm or rubber wasn't scarce in SW either. But no doubt federal income contributed to Lagos growth as National capital. Even though Lagos has been booming since 1860s already. I think it was more about discipline & foresight of Awo and followers in the SW generally. Until Awo-Akintola stand off came about. |
Omonigeriarere:But I thought the reason APC wanted power was to correct the "wrongs" or the perceived or actual ineffectiveness of previous govt? You will agree that after nearly a year now, the govt should now be taking responsibility for things going on. If the people wanted PDP to continue taking responsibility, 2 million extra people would have voted PDP, not APC. |
But we all know the govt is telling lies about casualty figures among our gallant soldiers. Yes, it happens in many countries in order not to embolden the insurgents. But in a democracy we should have more transparency. APC politicised Boko Haram issue in opposition. Now they have difficulties dealing with bad news from it. My worry is about the loved ones of the fallen heroes. Are they properly informed about their deaths? |
Make them cut this lady some slack jor. Millions of women are hustling, praying for Baba @ The Top to pick their call. Jah picked her call & we should be happy for her. I hope HIM & his Queen can enjoy more privacy. |
Very surprised. Way many more facially prettier girls in Abia. |
Brushless:Then they should have called it sexual molestation. Not just engaging in bisexuality. But the whole thing looks rather suspicious. Like a fake. But then, the police arrested a goat in Niger Area before. ![]() |
kingthreat:Is that a joke? There can't be less than 3 million. Counting active (Vesuvius mountain-like) and dormant ones. ![]() A married lady told me she has about 10 lesbos friends, from university and she had an affair with some of them. Now married with kids, killing the urge to continue lesbo with some of them is tough for her. Even her hubby got to know & asked her to stop or end the marriage. |
jmichlins:You concluded too quick. They have similarly retar.ded colleagues in Uganda, Kenya and such similar clown colonies. ![]() |
Abdul4trust1:Don't we have that agitation now? Does it not surprise you that Biafra conflict broke out after Ironsi disbanded the regions? I don't really think so. If you already have much autonomy and more control over your life, the need for full independence will be less. It is somebody in jail who yearns to break out. ![]() That is the argument opponents are going to use for scaremongering. But we had regions, prime minister and ceremonial president before. It was a better form of democracy. We have excellent presidential materials who can represent us well: Wole Soyinka, Maitama Sule, Emeka Anyiokwu, Donald Duke, Ribadu, Joy Ogwu, Okonjo Iweala etc. They would each make an excellent head of cabinet but we know they won't have the political weight to get there. We could even deliberately make a lady the first president in the new system. As for the house members, I actually said NOT MORE than 150. The actual number can be negotiated. Round 63 would even cost us less but we could face the scenario of people saying the tribes are not represented. |
Abdul4trust1:A modified parliamentary system. One that will suit us. Not verbatim UK or Canadian system. A prime minister with executive powers. The gallivanting and ceremonies should be left to a rotating presidency. Maybe three years term, region by region. The work needed to fix 9ja is to massive to leave to a president that might spend 100 days a year abroad. We need a hardworking head of cabinet. Then we need a unicameral parliament. Not more than 150 members. The 6 regions should have own police. Most states are too poor to have one each. Certain crimes should be under regional police remit and penal code. Others like inter regional crimes under federal code. |
HiddenShadow:But how will Hausa-Fulani control state police outside their zones? For that reason, they won't allow it. It is about power & control. Not whether the country moves forward. |
vizkiz:Fear of kidnap.....is beginning of you know what. ![]() |
Ehen. Cheerful giver. Na wa o. ![]() |
vizkiz:Bariga. ![]() |
Our presidential system na wash. Look at it like UN summit. ![]() The whole thing is too formal. The environment doesn't encourage a close working relationship and rapport. |
Well this contr3 don harro. People daju nor be small these days o. This undefined change is getting definitions daily. |
Dolypson04:You nor bow. I guess she was playing hard to get. And a girl with no time to waste did the needful. Dey dia. ![]() |
jerseyboy:More than perplexing sir. But he was courted by virtually every APC governor/big gun. We saw the pics of them in his house. With that, I kinda lost hope about any truth or principle coming from any Nigerian of stature. I know Soyinka has been quiet over poor electricity, fuel scarcity, bad economy and more because he knows he risks being accused of flip-flopping. Aka talking from both sides of the mouth after his reluctant support for Buhari. Knowing Buhari's dictatorial and non-listening antecedents. He could have remained silent and maintain neutrality instead of supporting Buhari. |
onexile:Well, he's basically saying those are conquered territory from Dan Fodio time. Not only Kwara/Ilorin. Colonial times was just a diplomatic way of saying it. I guess the goal now is to extend that to SE, Ondo and beyond. Mind you, Oyo in his mind probably includes State of Osun ![]() Wahala dey o. |

ycat:And who said Chibuike should not go to jail? I forgot you just came back from coma and you're constantly dunce and dazed. Very hopeless Agbero with bad upbringing. Hope your kilt & kin are proud of a wayward dullard and religiously fanatic Fulani-ass-kissing Afonja son like you. ![]() |
cruzita:Dream. Final but could end differently. Like Man City - Atletico. |
Deen77:Well, I am not against his prosecution. In fact I want many of them to defy Buhari if that's the only way to earn yourself prosecution for actual (not imagined) corruption. ![]() I don't like the idea of people getting away with corruption just by saying "yes sir" as sycophants. |
Afama:We all want corrupt politicians prosecuted. But why only those in opposition or have defied the government? What about APC politicians? Selective justice is also injustice. |
SeverusSnape:Don't mind them. If he had followed their orders he would be a saint now. Let Amaechi defy them blatantly now, they will use all the Rivers money he used to buy primary delegates for Buhari and bankroll their campaign against him sharp sharp. They are all hypocrites. Just pity their gullible plebeian supporters. |
