What tribe are you..... AreaFada2 Abeg just forget those people. Wetin dem sabi? If Nigeria had continued with Regional system, Benin would have been way ahead of many. gregyboy: Hey mumu, the date doesnt matter what of if it was one of the oldest sculpture from owo that was taken to benin after benin invasion in owo the aftermath of the war left the others destroyed
Use sense dont just copy scholars works for me
Lets not remove the fact that owo sculpture is very similar to that ife sculptures too more like they shared similar artisans
What of if it was a gift giving by the ooni to the oba after d creation of nigeria that probably got lost or probably was staged by both party to form a false historical link between both tribes which i doubt because no benin artwork was found in ife
Was it found in the royal alters of benin if it wasnt then it doesn't suggest the fact that the sculpture was relevant
Every ife sculpture have a duplicate or a sculpture similar to a particular type of sculpture , unlike the owo sculpture that are hardly found in pairs, so were is d duplicate of the sculpture in ife from that
Dont be too desperate TAO11 it is an owo sculpture
Who will think picture 1 is an owo is an owo sculpture Because of its similarities with the ife head, This only explains that ife and owo shared thesame artisans
In as much as TAO11 wants to makes that sculpture ifel she has still not yet removed the doubt from everyone the sculpture could be that of owo
Possibilism willams failed to consider
1,that sculpture could indeed be from ife but was brought to benin after they might have created nigeria that's could be why the sculpture had no influence on benin artwork, or happened to have been placed in an acestoral alter, to signify benin - ife heritage
Again if it was a gift it wont have been a lost item buried in the palace it would have been placed on the alter to the oba it was gifted to
2) that sculpture could also be from ife and was taken to owo, since owo and ife shared same artisans, so maybe during benin invasion on owo the sculpture was stolen and taken to benin as a gift to the oba lets also not forget owo artisans were trained in the oba palace another Possibilism of it coming from owo
3) it could be an indigenous owo art as the regalia depict the eastern Yoruba king regalia unlike the ife 1300ad regalia which differs from that differs from that sculpture regalia, it must have been the amongst the oldest surviving artworks which survived when benin attacked owo and was stolen
4) if indeed we are to believe it as an ife artwork as believe by TAO11, which was taken to benin from ife then the relationship was a strong one for that to have happen , so we must also be able to find other relationships shared between both parties, like the benin-owo relationship
First of all we must find it in their artworks of both benin and ife so TAO11 show more relationships
Isnt that so Willams failed to highlighten this Possibilism Probably he failed to know there was an owo artwork in nigeria when he wrote the article
AreaFada2 Sarah20A Etinosa1234 Samuk
If this possibilism is not treatec by TAO11 then it would be safe to say it id an owo artwork that was lost to benin My brother you still dey follow the cross dresser reason? Please educate another rational person or other people. All his-her copy and paste stuff Na hoax. |

Zealoy: Hello guys pls I will like some advice from mature minds here, there's this girl am dating she's very pretty, sexy and hard working, she loves me so much that each day that she didn't hear my voice it will seems to her as if the world is coming to an end
The problem is I didn't love her equally the same way she loves me, initially I only wanted her for sex but she's getting too attached to me, and there's one certain man of God that warmed me to dump the girl am dating, which is her, my problem is how am I going to let her go without actually hurting her feelings cuz I know quite alright that she might hurt herself if I end the relationship between us. She's dangerously in love with me and I fear it will end in tears for her. So you don't have any good friend you can push her to? Man of God told you, better to see babalawo, alfa, oboh and dibia first too. Soon the man of God will choose a wife for you. Possibly one sister that has used abortion to scatter balance her womb before carrying church on her head as no man show again. If you don't love her or ready to marry, that's enough. Just tell her so. Painful but honest. She will survive and thrive. Good luck. |

AreaFada2 codemeniac Very many more: Portuguese (P) Caneca = Ekalaka in Benin (B) means mug/ cup for spirits/schnapps. Serra (P) = 0sara (B) = saw for sawing wood Limao (P) = Alimoi (B) = lime, orange Aduana (P) = Adana (B) = Measuring bowl for garri, rice or beans, popularly called "mudu" Carreta (P) = Ekarreta (B) = old entertainment dance. Portuguese is so intertwined with Benin language that centuries from now, it will still remain. Sadly many Benin do not even know source or philology of words they use in Benin language daily. The flowing robe of Benin chiefs is like the cassock of Princes of the Catholic church (cardinals/bishops). This was a tacit move to turn Benin into a Catholic empire by Oba Esigie from 1504. gregyboy: Ise......
I dont really blame oba eweka 11, for our distorted history, it a good thing the distorted history was for a unifying purpose
Eweka11 was a true king and i respect him alot, if not for anything but for is wisdom, it wouldn't have been easy for we benins coming out from the effects of the war, with our little population if not for him Today we are still standing next to the three big tribe in nigeria thanks to him for his bold and smart steps
My blames is this generation who tries to politicize and culturalize the whole diplomactic moves, particularly the yorubas who are using it for their own advantage and trying to yorubanise we benins
They dont know anything beyond amassing population, thanks to democracy that made having population useful
I know they are many benin royals from the palace who are on nairaland i hope they see the truth, and the great step taken by oba eweka11 to make benin what it is today.....
We all now know were the lines of both history were joined now
Eweka11 ghato kpere...... Ise Ise! Well, the title Eweka II says it all. It was another interregnum all over again. But this time with more "enemies" from outside. People previously part of Benin Empire until 1897 and Britain intent on crushing any opposition to colonial ambitions. Benin renounced swathes of territory as part of the conditions for restoration. It was survival at that point. Imagine if Benin Kingdom was not yet restored by 1960. Ancestors of these people arguing here would have written articles upon articles that there was never any monarch in Benin. Their would be plastering this this thread with those Propaganda articles write now calling it the truth. Western Region would have probably manoeuvred and impose worse restoration conditions. Awo would have sought to put Olu of Warri (for his unashamed tribalistic policies, since to him Nigeria was only a geographical expression) above Benin. His manoeuvre to raise Olu of Itsekiri to Olu of Warri to led crisis in Old Warri province. It was settled by changing the name to Delta Province that still gave the name Delta State today. Yes, modern generations won't understand the state of shock post 1897 and all the dark forces at play that Eweka II outwitted. |

codemaniacs: those of you quoting benin, togo and ghana should know that Nigeria dams the river niger which flows through these countries which means Nigeria must give or sell electricity to them to prevent them from damming the river niger which will lead to drastic drop in Nigeria's power situation...
In summary: Nigeria does not sell electricity to this countries because Nigeria wants to..... but because Nigeria must and has to sell electricity to them to prevent the collapse of Nigeria's power infrastructure. It's not about selling power or not. River Niger does not go through Togo, Ghana or Benin (only just through the border). It goes through Mali, Niger , border with Benin then on to Nigeria and through ND into the Atlantic. Nigeria has a long coatline so that Ondo, Delt, Lagos and more can have wind farms on the coast. The North with enormous sunshine can harness solar energy. |

Lol. Everyone knows that post-1914, it became clear that the silly entity put together by the British would be a disaster. So people began to consolidate relevance along ethnic and religious lines or both. Especially North & current SW. Oduduwa & Oranmiyan stories were further embellished. Alake recklessly ranked Oba of Benin as 3rd in Yorubaland. Alakes seem to like reckless talk sha, like the one in Western House of parliament about 70 years ago. Yet they say Oranmiyan left Benin to found Oyo monarchy. Our SW people are confused about Oduduwa & Oranmiyan story. Too many versions that conflict. Which is a pity. Because many actually see the four walls of a school but remain rooted in ethnic ego massage and herd mentality. That's why I like my people from Eastern Yorubaland. Those born and raised there have a mind of their own. See Fayoshe. Even Aketi Arakunrin Akerodolu & Fayemi, despite being in Angry People's Catacombs of a party, they still do not kiss dry ass of beggar for "Aso Rock". Even our cross-dresser friend TOA-TOA Christmas cracker here keeps quoting papers amateurishly cobbled together by Ibadan press pseudo-intellectuals that make no iota of sense. Instead of humbly, objectively and dispassionately researching where Oduwawa truly came from. The dude travelled from Benin via Owo to enter Ife from the East. Chai!
