fleep: Thank you for your kind words
And yes absolutely, if the smartest people led the country that would lead to advancement. But there also needs to be enough high IQ people to be doctors, engineers, professors, researchers and CEOs for the economy to function properly. Oh, once the best lead, they would make sure that happens. But improved IQ may not necessarily be the most important problem facing us in Africa. And that is the reason why you should not dismiss those who are always linking what is happening in Africa to the West. The West always feel threatened by a smart African leader If the Romans had killed Churchill and the British had killed Abraham Lincoln, the story of London and Washington would have turned out differently. So when we discuss the way forward we can`t afford to be too naive about the fact that external factors affect Africans more than it`s affecting other people or races |

fleep: The worst sample puts the average IQ at 67 the best sample puts it at 84. The most realistic estimate would probably be around 75. The following image shows the Bell-curve for 75.
16% of the population has an IQ that is good enough for a modern economy. (90+) Good bless you my brother. If you have a country of one million people, there is no way in the world you will not have at least 1% of them with excellent IQ. If this country of one million should let the ones with the highest IQ to lead them, that society would advance rapidly. Do you agree with that assertion? |

Please don`t kill yourself. Now that you have been liberated from the rumour of Jesus, all you need to do is to concentrate on your studies. All the time you have been devoting to what you call fellowship should now be used for something productive: reading When I was growing up in Nigeria there was a man called Tai Solarin who told anyone that cared to listen that he didn`t believe in God. He would then challenge his students that believe in God to only pray to God and not read their books before exams; if they still pass that would tell them whether studying and reading for exam is less important than praying. Well, by now you need no further sermon from me on what the outcome of his experiment would be. You are lucky that you have finally seen the light, so get down to the business of reading for your exams instead of wasting your time on Jesus that have absolutely nothing to do with your life Two, don`t torture yourself by keeping unnecessary secret from your dad. Let him disown you when you tell him the truth, you will proof him wrong later. If you know how many lives the religious are destroying like this in Nigeria you would not regret anything in your life today. Good luck |

I couldn`t find any example(s) of Buhari`s dictatorship in this piece, at least a couple of examples would have helped. I`m sure that the leaders that would save this country are not those with a rigid sense of opposition and partisanship. When David Cameron sought approval of the British Parliament recently to join others in bombing Syria, many opposition members from the Labour Party spoke openly against their party and joined the ruling Conservative Party to vote in favour of the motion. Of course, it wasn`t an easy decision but those opposition members that went with David Cameron were only exercising their democratic rights. Has it ever occurred to Deji that you behave like a dictator when you force people to do your bidding at all times? If PDP should decree what members must say/do at all times, what should we call that if not dictatorship? |

bukatyne: Compliments of the season
How is gender equality the biggest fraud in this scenario?
Is there any difference between a woman who splits the bills and one who doesn't if they both work? Let`s not forget that the issue of gender equality was first forced on the West by circumstances. It was during the World Wars the West was forced tp allow women to work, as most men had to go out and fight. The Wars allowed men to see the advantages of letting women do most of the work that were formerly done by men. So men started to think about turning women into a permanent labour force- very crucial for post-war reconstruction and industrialization. In other words, the capitalist system cannot run smoothly unless women join the labour force. Why is it that enormous pay gap still exists between men and women in the West? Since 1776 till today, a woman has never been elected to govern United States, so what is gender equality about It is the economic gains derivable from gender equality that the West is interested in, not a better life for women Wife helping husband is normal, that is not the problem; but the 50-50 mentality is what I find obnoxiuos Women don`t share pregnancy with men. If a woman should die in labour the man is not going to be killed the following day because they were both responsible for the pregnancy. The Western society is playing Russian Roulette with the fact that men and women are two different to be equal In some cities the ratio of men to women is 1:3, that is 3 women available for one man, so where is the level playing field going to come from I will leave you with a conundrum I`ve never been able to work out: a survey conducted a while ago showed very clearly that, all other things being equal, a man would prefer an office clerk or high school teacher to a lawyer or female engineer for marriage. Well, I don`t just get that |

Oliviaarims: That's a very subjective stand. Some ppl would choose one over the other. For me, though... Choice of husband is more important. No, an intelligent woman wouldn`t choose career over husband. One reason is that you can still start a career at 38, but should you wait till 38 to get married you may have to settle for no children of your own. So biology puts women at a disadvantage The most extraordinary fraud men have been able to get away with is to convince modern woman that gender equaliry is good for her. If we look at it closely, it places enormous burden on women. The fact that men don`t become pregnant means that his life is an easy one. So the African culture tries to minimize the burden on women by saying that it`s the man that must be the provider. That doesn`t mean some women would not earn more than their husbands, but the bottom-line is providing is one of the primary responsibilities of the husband. Once the West came up with 50-50, a scam was born. I must add that even in the West the household that is most stable is the one that embraces the African model This thread is about why women look older. Well, it is the type of question you expect from a man, isn`t it? Let me just point out that notwithstanding the difficult nature of their lives, women still live longer than men Season`s Greetings |

Oliviaarims: Smh. Can u imagine what this OP posted? And later, they'll start bashing women for wanting to marry a rich man. If she gets married to a poor man, she'd have to struggle real hard on her part to sustain the family, coupled with child birth. It's almost the same situation in an average home too, esp if the husband and wife are age mates. When there's enough money, she'd be able to eat healthy, register at a gym and do whatever else that would ensure she continues looking young, beautiful and healthy as she's supposed to.
Having said all that, it depends on how u care for ur body though.. And then again.. Women tend to age faster than women. Should we then accept that the choice of husband is more important than the choice of carreer? |

Although the English language sees you as a man, but you are still a boy trying to establish your own identity. Most twenty-somethings believe they know and understand everything, so relax and start to come to terms with a couple of characteristics that would define your life. You can see from what happened with mum that you may have anger problem. You have been appropriately advised here to apologize profusely, but should that fail, I think you should call your dad and tell him that you have apologized to mum for your unruly behaviour but that mum is still angry and ask dad to help resolve the matter. Don`t forget that most of the characteristics you have come from them, so don`t be too hard on yourself. On a last note,YOU SHOULD NEVER TALK BACK WHEN PARENTS ARE SHOUTING OUT OF ANGER. |

funkyibodude: A female friend of mine brought up an issue that have been bothering her so much she said that she needs an urgent advice on what to do. Here's her story She met a guy last year in a friend's get together party and they both fell for each other. According to her story the guy works with an insurance company in Lagos and my friend was about to go for her NYSC when they both met. So because of the heated romance between them, she decided to work her NYSC posting to Lagos state. During her service year the guy proposed to her and she accepted. So they both went for family introduction. Few months after her introduction, her father called her and told her that she should come home that there's something urgent he wants to tell her. When she traveled back home, her dad told her that the have done some investigation into the guy's Family and the discovered that the guy is an OSU ( meaning outcast in Igbo land) and their village still practice the osu caste system. So the implication there is the both can't get married. And if she insist in getting married to him that her family will not be part of it, literally she's on her own with the guy, she's so heart broken now because she loves her family and she told me she can't imagine her world without him. And more so she's few weeks pregnant for him and the have started making plans for their wedding. How can she break this news to her fiancee?!!.. She told me she rather dies than not marry him.
Please I would appreciate matured advice only because this is really a sensitive issue that involves tradition and beliefs, no attacking of any personality or ethnic group. it can happen to anyone out there. Thanks As long as Osu is the only issue in this wonderful romance, your friend should not think twice before going ahead with the marriage |

She should listen 2 her parent n pray n fast to get d best answer from God, so dat she can live a life of a mother unlike my mum. What you are saying is understandable, but I believe true love defies everything. The personal experiece you narrated does not mean that parents are right at all times, are they? It`s nice to get to know how the people Nigerians consider to be superior do things. You already guessed right why you were not given a visa: the fact that you have a new unused passport. The question is, was that mentioned in any of their stated requirements? Of course not! You just need to accept the reality that a barren passport owned by a Nigerian applying for a visa, is a problem. So you can try to look for a less attractive country to visit before applying next time. Anywhere you go in today`s world, know that normal rules do not apply to you if you are a Nigerian. That is a lesson that would always be useful outside the shores of our country. |

ZUBY77: I totally understand you bro. Those 3 Million illegal immigrants believe in home too, especially the Igbos, they build houses and businesses at home with whatever they make out there. The point is that home is simply not working, no matter how hard they tried.
Life is not static, it's dynamic. You may have had the opportunity to establish a business in Nigeria, many don't have that. Many don't have the opportunity to go to basic school here, which should have been free in the first place. It's not like we don't like our home country, we all do, trust me. The point is that the rulers destroyed people's hopes. If you happen to be brilliant enough with science, you are most likely to waste out there in Nigeria, because the ruling class has no interest in developing Nigeria, they all don't believe in Nigeria in the first place. So if you have the opportunity to live and train your children in schools in UK and US, they will compensate for your loss. Igbos believe in that we'll enough.
Forget about the patriotism crap, we all don't believe that much in Nigeria, yes, I mean you and I.
I read here on naira where Igbos Abuse Yoruba, Yoruba abuse Igbos, They both Abuse Hausa, calling them parasites etc. If we believe in one Nigeria, Niger Delta wouldn't mind using their oil to help out Sokoto or Borno State. If not that the federal government is doing the allocation by force and law, they wouldn't have agreed to do that willingly. Kano wouldn't have also agreed to feed the nation with their groundnut if that happened to be the base of Nigeria's economy. If the world decided to switch to Cocoa in place of oil, a half of the Yoruba Nation would start to agitate for independence.
You see there is no love among us. We really need to sit down in Nigeria and discuss the best thing for us. We must not copy American Democracy, we are not matured enough mentally to manage that kind of government system.
If the ruling looters love Nigeria like they claim, they would have turned this country to South Africa Atleast. Proud of you!!! |
