Any country that embraces privatization the way the last GEJ government embraced it in Nigeria would sooner or later have an Apartheid society So we have just seen the other Abuja. When I started working on some internationally-supported development projects across several states in Nigeria, one of the things I had to learn is to know enough of the practices and culture of people I work with and respect their positions in this regard.
I remember shaking married Muslim women is one of them. It's quite embarrassing at times meeting people and offering handshake and watch them ignore it, albeit respectfully. But it shows that you did not do your homework well or you are inexperienced at that level.
Now I have learned when and to whom to offer an handshake and to whom not to offer.
I also know the signs to look for.
It is all about etiquette.
The situations sometimes will vary. I have had instance when a married Muslim who wears short hijab will not take an handshake from you but will take it from white foreigners in your delegate.
Should that be an issue - No, if you do not make it one. They too are trying to find a balance. They expect you as a fellow countryman to know and respect their position, while they make some exception for the foreign guests/visitors.
Some may not even take an handshake from anyone. But trust some of the foreigners too, they do their homework and would not try to offer an handshake once they know your practice.
FFK and others just raising dusts on this are the ones who need to learn this It is not everything that is politics.

I`m sorry, no-one is forcing anybody to do anything. The president himself described Nigeria as a secular State, so if he can`t shake Nigerians` hands he is not qualified to do that job. The Presidency is not the same as any other job you are doing

My honest advice is to relocate within Nigeria so that you can do whatever menial jobs you want to do. You are better off doing that than wasting half of your money on processing a visa to another African country where you can easily lose your life just because you are a Nigerian
What you need is a small scale business that can yield good profit , only then should you think about going abroad. You shouldn`t be thinking about a comfortable life right now but how to multiply the small money you have in your pocket.

There is a fellow that keeps on reminding us of watching Aljazeera life right now, even as it`s been confirmed that the station has carried false news first then cross-checked later. Nigeria as a whole is an open mouth which swallows whatever is foreign first then find out what it means later. If the BBC, Aljazeera, Sky and CNN are your sources of information as a Nigerian, I can assure you that you are missing something

We have other dreams, nothing is working, other people get chances to work at multinationals, government agencies, easterners are confined with buying and selling and our whole life just depends on it.
