Hopefully, university education would teach him about the need to respect the electoral process. But then what? Getting a degree after you have finished leading your country is the same as putting the cart before the horse. Election rigging in 1979, election rigging in 1999, election rigging in 2003 and 2007 have already sealed a disgraceful legacy. |
There is something called society, it begins where the rights of an individual stop. |
How can Nigerians stop this? Ask whoever is representing you at the Parliament whether he/she has ever heard of anti-discrimination laws before. You need to ask because majority of them are slaves who don`t know what a law-maker does. Once laws are passed against the type of discrimination OP is talking about, it is then left for lawyers to embrace it and apply it to the realities being expressed here. Once again, I ask, are there journalists in Nigeria? This is totally unacceptable and the type of nonsense journalists should be exposing and drawing attention to. Lastly we all should know that, majority don`t bring about change, individuals and minority do, so don`t feel powerless inside your own country. |

LocalChamp:So America that is bent on destroying Nigeria economically is now our best friend, right? God bless all the economic terrorists of this world. Is either America is our friend fully or not; you can`t be mobilizing the world against Buhari on the economic front and then go to Davos and say you are Buhari`s best friend. You can only deceive the gullible. An economic terrorist is not different from a religious terrorist. If you think you can cripple the most important black nation in the world, you are forgetting that you only know some Nigerians, you don`t know all Nigerians. So keep on speaking from both sides of your mouth thinking that your national interests would be protected by so doing. |
Oladipupo22:Young man, next time Oro dey waka pass, better learn to juba. |
People saying you should decide are making a mistake. Once we fall in love, we stop making intelligent decisions and I can see that you are in love with this girl A couple of general points. Get use to the fact that whoever you marry is never going to be accepted by everybody in your family. Two, sisters don`t usually feel terrible when their friends end up with their brothers, meaning your sister needs to be taken seriously Three, the past of a man is more relevant in a relationship than that of a woman. In other words, experience doesn`t show that once a man is a player he can stop after marriage. Women do change for the better after marriage, so we shouldn`t be too rigid about their past The problem-solving ability of a woman goes a long way in determining the type of matrimonial home a man would have. Your girl-friend has shown a worrying deficit in this regard. This issue with your sister is the first major test of her problem-solving ability and she has failed to handle it with maturity. From what you narrated, one can see why your sister remains unimpressed with her attitude to relationships with men. She would quit and look for another man if your sister is not happy with her was what came first to her mind rather than ` I would do everything to prove you wrong`. So this worries me a little. Is there anything to suggest that she won`t walk out of a marriage when the going gets tough? Once your sister made her objection known to her, she should have seen it as a war she can`t win through tit-for-tat because blood is thicker than water What we need to ask ourselves at this juncture though is, would you ever find a girl that would have no skeleton in her undergraduate cupboard or one that no member of your family would complain about? What is working against this girl now is the fact that your sister knows her. Look, there is more to marriage than what a sister says. What happens if your next girl-friend is liked by your sister but your stars are naturally incompatible? What would your sister do to help you out? Or turns out she has been hiding the fact that she can never have children, how is your sister going to help you out of that? So it is simplistic to say that once my sister is not happy, I can`t marry her. Every marriage is a gamble so it`s preferable to marry someone you love and hope that things work out. Truth is, your sister would relax once she finds her own boyfriend and start to mind her business. My advice is that you ask your girl-friend to call your sister and apologize to her for causing the misunderstanding ( doesn`t matter that she didn`t cause it). She should promise her that all the things she is worried about are things she regret but would not have any relevance to the future. You would then have to let your sister understand that whoever you marry is going to have one issue or the other so she should forgive and forget. The unfortunate thing is, most marriages that start on this note tend to fail and the family member that opposed them proven right |
Ask your boy-friend in Europe whether he plans to come back to Nigeria after his studies or wants to stay there a bit longer. I think that is the most important question right now. To stay longer legally, marriage would be an option in Europe and no-one can predict the outcome of such a marriage. So should he tell you that he is staying beyond those two years, you may want to see yourself as a single again Don`t tarnish your family`s name by going out with a known fraudster, so stop the friendship with the yahoo guy. Good luck |
Dotmax53:OP, what happens to for better, for worse ? Come on, she is your wife, suffering a serious psychological damage as we speak because of this. Please show some compassion and patience. I remember one of my sisters telling me about this type of problem a long time ago. It stopped suddenly and she went on to have kids. Do what people advise and pray not to have a serious marital problem-this is socially disgraceful but not the worst problem I`ve heard couples wrestle with. The happiness of your wife is your happiness so make her happy regardless of this problem. I think it`s urologists that deal with something like this, so take her to one if all of the advice here fail |
Mamog:Honestly, the best Jonathan did against the West was when he defied them on the gay issue. Sorry, if the most powerful black nation could be stopped from buying weapons, we have to blame GEJ`s poor leadership for that. Main reason for Dasuki`s shenanigans? Didn`t see that coming Please let`s not forget that PMB assumed office in May 2015; so let`s be patient, you and I would have enough time to assess and grade his performance. |
Omoocash:Promise me you are not the one that needs that education. When you are asked to rate someone on a scale of 0-10, it means 1 is the lowest score and 10 is the highest |
I truly feel sorry for Nigeria and Nigerians. Elsewhere the tittle of a newstory is " Nigeria: US organizes Global Boycott of Nigerian Crude Oil" It reads: " Following Nigeria`s refusal to devalue its currency ( the naira ), in line with IMF recommendations, crude oil traders world-wide have begun to shun Nigerian crude oil over the last several months" The reason why I`m mentioning this is that naive Nigerians don`t understand what the leaders of our country have to face in secret, especially in the hands of the evil men in London and Washington. Our currency used to be at par with the dollar. Then IMF convinced Babangida to devalue in the 80s. Ever since that first devaluation, America, through the IMF and World Bank had made sure that our currency becomes useless to the extent that it is now one dollar to 300 naira. What next? Well, they want Buhari to destroy it further, and his refusal has led to the above steps. By the way, it was the America`s Republican News that first carried that story, so I didn`t manufacture it. What it means is that those of us that call ourselves PDP, Biafra and Christians who believe that we have to criticize anything and everything that PMB is doing, you should know that you are playing into the hands of the evil Westerners that want the most important black nation to always be on her kneels. Buhari is never going to achieve anything by doing the conventional and that is one of the reasons why we should avoid hasty conclusions. America is an evil entity bent on destroying Nigeria, we shouldn`t be doing that work for America just because we don`t like the President or party in power. Gullible Buhari went to Germany to beg G7 for help. Gullible Buhari collected money from America thinking that it was a free lunch. Right now he is realizing what some of us knew long time ago that the West is only interested in exploitation and control. So Buhari is learning and adjusting, and it is for this and other reasons that I would give him a big 6 |
Interesting questions on Nairaland. Would you cure your girl-friend that falls sick if you are a doctor? Would you repair your girl-friend`s car if you are a mechanic? Would you do her hair if you have a salon? We are all in the mood for rhetorical questions today, I guess. |
99100:Your frustration is understandable, but have you taken time to find out whether the same happens in other parts of the country. My point is, you would find that some areas in the South-South and South-West also suffer the same fate. Even in the North, some people would still be paying 120 as we speak. So the discrepancy may not necessarily be planned by the government |
TheFreeOne:Those of us that let them loot should also undergo the same treatment. Lunatics never govern sane people; if the politicians are lunatics it means the people they govern are the same |
GoldenJAT:No, it`s shame on us. We also need to remind ourselves that there are journalists that cover the Parliament. |
I guess OP wanted to provoke a heated response by posting something like this, right? High time you began to understand that you may be doing more damage to the unity of Nigeria than you thought. There is a huge difference between facts and tribalism. Tribalism is a cancer that often kills the tribalist. |
BBC should tell us whether British economy is getting better right now. |
bobolizim:Don`t do the wrong thing just because your husband is doing it. Your marriage has the problem 90% of all marriages have. Should your retaliatory infidelity leads to the end of your marriage, you will regret the day you took that decision |
So Abati thinks Nigerian musicians give Nigeria a bad name. What about journalists that collect brown envelop? |
Should Nigeria be the country with this type of mad gun culture, it would have been covered daily in America, but Nigerians don`t care. Anyway, black Jesus crying for the shame of his country after almost a decade in office should show those in Nigeria the truth, that America is not God`s own country but Guns` own country |
Greenbullet:Not any more than Babangida. |
ceometromedia:The President is not going to be able to defeat boko haram physically, no-one can defeat those that are ready to die. It is for this reason that all of us must not neglect the poor like our generals did for decades, thereby turning Nigerians into hopeless desperadoes. The people we call terrorists have been killing Americans since the 80s and America has not been able to defeat them. The same applies to those expecting Buhari to produce the Chbog girls. If we don`t play politics with the disappearance, all of us know that these girls vanished on Jonathan`s watch. In an ideal world, he should be tried for crime against Nigeria. A President that went to bed to sleep after the disappearance of over 200 Nigerians deserve to die, but we don`t live in an accountable world. So to be holding Buhari responsible for Goodluck calamity would be unfair. |

Don`t worry, our honourable law-makers; enjoy it while it last. We all know majority of you are armed robbers in disguise |
chukzyblingz:One in a million times he reacted well to what was happening to Nigeria and Nigerians. I lost count of how many times Nigerians were killed with fun from India to South Africa and he would do as if nothing was going on. But then wasn`t he the President that famously asked Obama to come and sort out Nigeria. I don`t like criticizing former heads of state, but we shouldn`t try to re-write history either The demonization and reckless killings of Nigerians around the world are possible not because Nigerians are worse than any other people but because the world knows that Nigeria has no leaders. I mentioned elsewhere that the most important thing Goodluck Jonathan did was to leave office gracefully. No more, no less. |
chukzyblingz:Goodluck Jonathan as an action man? Please pull another one because 2016 is too new for this |
It seems no-one with true idea of how modern government should work has governed Nigeria recently-and that includes the current government. Shocking!!! |
Nice OP does not restrict us to one name. As far as the public domain is concerned, it is the people that record a first that always matter, this is the reason why I`m choosing 3 Nigerians as my public personality of 2015 Nigeria has been conducting general elections since 1950s. yet there has never been a time when an incumbent President has not made sure to rig election in order to continue in office. As far as the presidential system we are practising now is concerned if election rigging were to be Olympic sport, Obasanjo would have numerous gold medals hanging on his neck. So for Goodluck Jonathan to concede defeat and leave office gracefully makes him the most important Nigerian in 2015 for me Of course directly linked to him is Attahiru Jega. When you talk of democracy, you must conduct elections that remove the incumbent before democracy can begin to mean something. If all our Electoral Commissioners can defy those that are in power and go by the rules and what the Constitution prescribes, Nigeria shall be great soon. Jega would forever be remembered positively when democracy is discussed in Nigeria. The fact is that when you are a vice-president in Nigeria, you are like a spare tyre that may never be remembered until things go horribly wrong. One of my political moments was when vice-President Osinbajo walked out of a meeting leaving Buhari and the loose canon that disrespected him behind. There are many people that claim to know the problem of the black race, but most of them are merely deceiving themselves. Anyone that wants to help the black race can start by trying to find the genes that are responsible for human reaction. One of the most fundamental shot-comings of the black man is his inability to react to what is going on around him. Should anyone find the genes responsible for how we react to our environment, it would be confirmed that the ones that the black man have are totally defective. The black race has been operating in the same world with the same people for over 400 years, yet we don`t know how to handle that world-totally incapable of responding to our environment At a Federal Executive Meeting, President Buhari must make sure that a modicum of order prevails. The idea that an over-zealous state governor would be rude to the vice-President is an indictment on the President`s ability to lead. So when the vice walked out, he was telling the President what the President was doing wrong as well as defending his own integrity and the integrity of the office of vice-President. Perfect reaction. In paying tribute to these three individuals, I`m also mindful of the fact that the most important Nigerians are those that engage in random acts of kindness that go unnoticed. The best acts of any individual is the good done when no one is watching; when no television cameras are rolling and when no applause is at stake, but through what these 3 individuals do I have been personally inspired and impressed HAPPY NEW YEAR |
A Nigerian President, granting interview to a foreign radio station in a language most of the citizens don`t understand; then using that opporuinity to call his predecessor criminal is both irresponsible and cowardly |
IPOB123london:Very briefly, the West wouldn`t have been able to produce that technology without the forests of Congo |
fleep:Normally, I don`t do follow-ups due to time factor. My point to you has nothing to do with scape-goating or buck-passing. Just to draw your attention to the realities of the people you claim to care about. Trust me that I do not subscribe to the theory that anyone or country can keep you down if you get your priorities right, but you can`t get your priorities right as a nation until the right people lead Well, you know that every statistic show that the Asians are smarter than the Whites, but the Asians do not have the most powerful countries in the world today. so that tells you what your IQ-improvement project in Africa would deliver Lastly, you are the most intelligent when you can listen and take on board views that challenge your well-established positions not when you can`t Thanks |
? Come on, she is your wife, suffering a serious psychological damage as we speak because of this.
