Road signs are important road management tools. They are placed on road and street sides to help us with directions, to help maintain safe driving conditions, that we don’t walk or drive into potentially dangerous situation, etc. However, some rather awkward road signs have been spotted. Some of them are all out hilarious. Some are simply silly. Then there are some that completely leaves motorists and pedestrians very confused. Anyway, we pick some bizarre road signs. See them below. Mitsubishi has just announced another recall affecting 2011 - 2016 Outlander Sports. The problem is caused by water leaks between the bonnet and windshield which could damage the wipers, affecting visibility which may lead to an accident. Owners of the 160,000 affected vehicles are expected to start taking their cars back to the dealership to have the issue fixed in April. Recalls by Mitsubishi have become one too many. Just a few weeks ago, they announced the recall of 140,000 Lancers, Outlanders, and Outlander Sports due to drive belts that may detach. Another 170,000 Outlanders and Outlander Sports were recalled due to problems with their parking brakes. Some Lancers were also recalled due to sunroofs that may detach. https://autojosh.com/160000-mitsubishi-outlander-sports-recalled/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Ishilove Marpol Semid4lyfe Obinoscopy Seun

If you’ve been boasting that you’ll never buy a Nissan, this Navara will make you have a rethink. The company has hinted it to be the rival of the new Ford Ranger Raptor which we revealed to you earlier as seen HERE.. https://autojosh.com/2019-ford-ranger-raptor-introduced-210hp-turbodiesel/ The Nissan Navara is built on the same platform as the Mercedes-Benz X Class and will be introduced with a 2.3 litre four-cylinder diesel engine. However, a bigger V6 engine will be introduced eventually. “If you would had asked me this question yesterday, I would have said this is not in our priority list. But if you are asking this question today, then I am saying this is an opportunity we would like to study”, Gupta said. “If we need to upgrade the tough and smart Navara to the sports grade, we can do it very easily. But the most important thing is which powertrain to adopt.” This Nissan Navara Vs the usual Toyota Hilux we see on Nigerian roads. Which will you take home to your garage? I was listening to this programme on radio. The OAPs – some popular comedians – requested listeners to phone in, and admit which of the road traffic authorities they would prefer to have a brush with – if they were caught contravening any of the traffic laws. The options thrown up included the FRSC, VIO, Nigeria police, LASTMA, the army, etc. A deluge of phone calls trailed the question. Opinions were freely aired. At the end of it all, it turned out that the VIO was the least preferred by the callers. The reason – chiefly – was that VIOs are hard to compromise by traffic law offenders. However, the Nigeria Police Force stole the show. Almost 100% of the callers – without hesitation – admitted that if they ran afoul of any traffic law – they would prefer to be arrested by the police. Now, you’re itching to find out why they preferred the police – right? Well, your guess is as good as mine. It goes without saying – the Nigeria police officers have the sublime ability to turn a blind eye to any crime committed after an exchange of a paltry sum of money. Sometimes, the amount could be as low as N20! This – according to most of the callers – cannot be easily achieved with VIO, “Road Safety” officials or LASTMA. It was quite an interesting, humorous and sincere interaction. However, what particularly arrested my interest – and of course, gave me a cause for concern – was how these set of Nigerians brazenly admitted a support for corrupt practice on a live radio programme! Even more worrisome was that the callers actually gave their real names and locations! It is worrisome not because these callers would be arrested for airing their perverse views, but it shows how low our moral values have degenerated. At a point, the OAP had to ask one of the callers if this wasn’t encouraging corruption. But trust some Nigerians, they have this incredible ability to invent defenses for our criminal tendencies. Now, this got me thinking; have, we, Nigerians, become so corrupt and crime-prone without us realizing it? Perhaps, I should ask you – who would you prefer to be arrested by – FRSC, LASTMA,VIO, Police? https://autojosh.com/traffic-law-violation-prefer-arrested-frsc-lastmavio-police/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Ishilove Marpol Semid4lyfe Obinoscopy Seun

A safety campaign by Toyota is currently ongoing. The campaign involves the recall of over 22, 000 Toyota and Lexus vehicles. The vehicles include Toyota Camry, Lexus LC, RC F and GS F. The recall is targeted at vehicles from the 2015 to 2018 batch. They include 11,800 units of the 2018 Camry and about 9,900 examples of the 2015-2018 Lexus RC F, 2016-2018 GS F, and 500 units of the 2018 LC. They are being recalled because of technical errors in their assembly. For instance, according to the manufacturer, there are concerns that the fuel pipes and hoses might not have been properly connected under the hood. In extreme scenarios, the fuel could leak and, in the presence of an ignition source, lead to a fire. Owners are expected to start taking their cars to dealerships where the problem will be fixed from March. https://autojosh.com/toyota-lexus-cars-recalled/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Ishilove Marpol Semid4lyfe Obinoscopy Seun

“Molues” were the kings of Lagos roads. These typically rickety motorized contraptions are built from a Mercedes or Bedford lorry-head. When in motion –they sometimes give an impression that their tyres and the steering wheel are not in unity. Sometimes, patronizing Molues is a necessary inconvenience. The only edge these uniquely designed mammy-wagons commanded over other modes of transportation was its affordability. For a pittance, a passenger could be transported to a distant location within Lagos. Riding in Molues is always an adventure. As soon as one is inside, drama is never in short supply. The ability to embark and to disembark from a Molue is a special art form. The doors are not necessarily the only point of entrance. The windows come in handy too. A ride in a Molue offers not a few side attractions. For instance, it offers a substantial dose of aggravations, entertainment, commercial activities; pocket-picking opportunities, sexual harassments, etc. The passengers in a Molue is often an odd mismatched assortment of people. The typical ratio is “49 seating and 99 standing”. Some of the passengers can easily pass for escapees from a prison or a psychiatric hospital. Then there is the combative driver and his conductors. They are the kings here. The Molue is their kingdom. Common courtesy, respect for others and decorum is totally alien to them. Moreover, to be a Molue driver or conductors, besides driving skills, other credentials required include a husky voice and body odour. The conductors also enjoy rubbing their sweaty bodies against the bodies of the multitude of standing passengers whenever they wriggle around to collect the fares. In Molues, it is almost customary for a journey to begin with a prayer or religious session. One of the passengers usually conducts this. When done, the same passenger, or another, would later proceed to advertise some pharmaceutical or herbal concoction. These products are typically sold with a claim to potency for all manner of sicknesses and diseases - from the common cold to Cancer and HIV! Bizarrely, too, some of the products boast of a NAFDAC endorsement. Indeed, there is never a dull moment in this theatre of the absurd. Today, this legend of the Lagos roads gradually fades into extinction. However, we cannot help but admit the entertainment riding in Molues brought to the lives of commuters in Lagos. Nevertheless, the iconic Molue is one experience that we will all love to miss. Or will you miss the legendary Lagos Molues? https://autojosh.com/dear-molues-will-happy-miss/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Ishilove Marpol Semid4lyfe Obinoscopy Seun

Driving in Lagos traffic is akin to being in a battlefield. Lagos traffic is no place for pleasantries. One cannot afford to play the “Mr. or Ms. Nice”. Otherwise – “express go leave you”. Every other motorist is perceived as an enemy; an enemy that contends with you for any available traffic spaces ahead of you. Lagos traffic bottlenecks makes motorists deliberately avoid making eye contacts with co- motorists. This way, they do not give co-motorists any opportunity to ask them for traffic favours. Flashing your pointers to indicate that you intend switching lanes is always an exercise in futility. No one is generous or willing to let go of the space ahead of him or her. In Lagos traffic, you realize that road signs indicating “One-Way Traffic” is just there to decorate the roads. Also, in Lagos traffic, you are exempted from obeying traffic rules if you fall into any of the following categories: the police, army, government convoy, empty bullion vehicles, “danfos” with an official of the police, army, Man’O’War, as passenger, etc. Then, there is the notorious Lagos traffic hawkers. Their business is to interest you in all imaginable commodities. Everything is available for purchase in Lagos traffic. From the essential to the outrightly ridiculous. Lagos traffic makes you realize that you have some habits that you never knew you had. For instance, hollering a swear word, a curse or some expletives you never realized you knew at an offending co-motorist. Sanity and patience rare commodities in this battlefield. In Lagos traffic, it is all man for himself and God for all. https://autojosh.com/battle-field-called-lagos-traffic-2/

Some of the number plates you see on some cars are fake and not original. The reason for this is because some were unlucky to register their cars in the wrong hands. This is very common with the Lagos and Abuja plate numbers. A research carried out revealed that at least 4 out of every 10 cars you see on the road with Lagos and Abuja plate numbers are fake. We are here to make sure you are using the authentic plate number. To determine the authenticity of your vehicle plate number, you have to follow these few steps below. It is very simple and will not take time to do. All you need is a smart phone and access to the internet. 1. In your browser, go to www.nvisng.org/numberplateverification.aspx 2. Enter your plate number in the provided space (with no hyphen in between) 3. Click on the “verify” button. After clicking on “verify”, the information about your car will appear. For security reasons, only the name of your car will be displayed on the webpage. In other words, FRSC does not want the public to see the full details of the registration, you will only see the name of your car and the date of registration. Note: For anyone planning to visit the police to obtain a tinted glass permit – it is important you verify the authenticity of your car number plate first. If the police finds out first, it might become a different story altogether. Also, note that this verification is only applicable to the number plates with this formats ABC123AB (New plate number) not AB123 ABC (old plate number). Please, help and share this post so it can get to the individual who might need it. https://autojosh.com/steps-verify-car-plate-number-original-fake/ |
The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) announced that it has witnessed an increase in its monthly revenue by 68 per cent. This increase is credited to the introduction of an automated system of operation at the car park of Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMIA), Lagos. The General Manager, Corporate Communications, FAAN, made this announcement to reporters in Lagos on Tuesday. According to her, since the exercise began at the car park on January 8, the automated system of operation at the car park had successfully plugged many previously existing revenue loopholes. Also credited to this new automation regime is the reduction in the rowdiness and vehicular traffic experienced at the car parks. The chaotic traffic situation was due to the manual collection of tolls at the car park. The FAAN GM also announced that there would be a performance review of the exercise by the end of this quarter. This she said was necessary in order to assess the the new regime, and to make modifications where necessary in order to achieve a more efficient service delivery. The automation of the services at the car park is part of the plan by the FAAN authority to overhaul the entire system in order to restore orderliness and reduce airport users’ complaints. https://autojosh.com/faan-records-98-increase-revenue-automation-mmia-car-park/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Ishilove Marpol Semid4lyfe Obinoscopy Seun

The Lagos Marathon may have come and gone, but it did not end without leaving a trail of some sad events. For instance, robbers took advantage of the marathon to unleash violence on some innocent citizens. Here is one story, as was reported by the relative of a victim. At the traffic hold-up at the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, my Cousin, Toju Uwatse, was attacked by robbers. The robbers took advantage of the heavy traffic jam caused by the Lagos marathon. He, together with a friend, who was in the vehicle with him, were stabbed several times and their vehicle smashed. Apparently, the robbers observed that they had just arrived into the country via the Murtala International Airport. This was made more evident as the vehicle was carrying several suitcases. My cousin tried to get the attention of a vehicle with diplomatic registration plates so the police officers and security operatives will come to his aid but to no avail. He had to fight for his dear life defending his face and chest while being punched and stabbed on his arms. It was a 17-minute battle. The robbers made away with valuables such as laptops, phones jewelries and other expensive items. There was no way for my cousin to escape, as the traffic was at a standstill for several hours. It was a traumatic experience, Several other vehicles were also robbed. Simply, the criminals had a field day. Mr. Toju is currently receiving treatment in the hospital. https://autojosh.com/robbers-took-advantage-lagos-marathon-rob-stranded-motorists/ Watch the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NU8QqX_Hfn4

The “Heaven’s Gate”. The sight is simply jaw dropping. The Heaven’s Gate is one of China’s most popular tourist attractions. It is built on the Tianmen Mountain. The Tianmen Mountain is 1518.6 meter high. The Heaven’s Gate is seated atop this Mountain. It is built on a seventeen-century-old cave. A stairway, consisting of 999 steps of it leads to it. Note that, the St Helena’s notorious Jacob’s Ladder has 'only' 699. Much of steps rises at 45 degrees. Due to its height, it is always covered by mist. This makes it difficult to tell where it begins and where it ends. To get to the Heaven’s Gate, the adventure begins with a ride in the world’s longest monorail Skyram. The ride spans 7.5 kilometres from the city Centre. It is followed by a scary bus ride up the 11.3km Tianmen Mountain Road (referred to as the “Dragon Road”). It also has 99 hairpin bends. And this is where they convinced Ho-Pin Tung - a car race driver - to drive the new Range Rover Sport PHEV to. During the ride, the Rover made a dizzying 99 turns and 999 daunting steps. And did he succeed to reach the peak known as the “Heaven’s Gate”? Yes, he did. Indeed, cars are meant to drive on roads. Some are built to drive on treacherous ones. None, however, are meant to climb, yes climb, stairs, especially deadly steep stairs. And Range as just proved to the world with the new Range Rover Sport PHEV can do both. https://autojosh.com/range-rover-sport-becomes-first-vehicle-climb-heavens-gate/

Would you be willing to dole out a whooping N340m for this vintage motorbike? Mind you, for that amount, the opportunity cost would be owning two fully-detached duplexes in Lekki. Well, someone recently paid $929,000 ( approximately N340m) for this classic bike at an auction in Las Vegas. The motorbike in question – a Vincent Black Lightening brand – is from a batch produced in 1951. It is one out of 30 that was made. Perhaps, part of the reasons why “the Vincent” is such a collector’s delight is the rich history behind this model. The Vincent Black Lightening was designed based on another motorbike brand – the legendary “Black Shadow”. The Black Shadow was reputed as the world’s first super-bike. The Shadow became very popular after it outran the fastest car at the time – a Jaguar XJ120. At 122 mph, it thus became the fastest thing on wheels. However, the Black Lightning was a technical improvement on the Black shadow. it was built with a more powerful engine (up from 55 hp to 70). But is the Vincent Black Lightening the most expensive motorbike ever made? Well, it has the highest price ever paid for a motorcycle at an auction. However, some would argue that the Harley-Davidson FLH that Peter Fonda rode in Easy Rider and which was auctioned in October 2014 for $836, 337 is the most expensive. It is said that the $836, 337 paid for that Harley-Davidson is equivalent to $1.18million at today’s rate. https://autojosh.com/pay-n340m-motorcycle/

While some vehicle manufacturers still grapple with the idea of producing vehicles with one or no screens on their dashboards, Italian-American auto-maker, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), has filed an interesting patent application for a dashboard with three screens. Though its not clear what model of vehicle or vehicles FCA plans to deploy this new technology on, but there are speculations that it might likely feature in a Jeep vehicle. When deplored, this technology would give the passenger a display to engage with. https://autojosh.com/three-screen-dashboards/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Ishilove Marpol Semid4lyfe Obinoscopy Seun

Apart from the fact that flying is the safest means of transportation , there are some "secrets" most people don't know . Flying is something that still terrifies a lot of people .Most likely because they can't just imagine what "sorcery" is enabling the plain fly , or they are afraid they would plunge to their deaths at any time. Lets dive right in . 1.The Shape Of The Windows Those nicely curved windows you see are not just there for beauty, they are built that way to balance pressure .A typical square or rectangular window cannot hold such pressure created at high speeds because of the sharp corners (the weakest points). That is why the edges of an airplane windows are curved so it evenly spreads pressure across the entire area of the window. 2.Flying On Half Empty Tank Most people think airplanes fill up their tanks to the brim before taking off, this is not always the case. Lets break it down. Airplanes are very heavy , when you include the weight of all the people and their bags, that is extra weight , hence the fuel consumption would increase . So what most airlines do is fill up the exact amount they would need to travel to their destination , hence reducing the weight . Logically, that would reduce the fuel consumption. 3.Engine Failure When one of the planes engine fails , all hope is not lost , it can still fly safely on the other engine for some time .What if the two engines fail ?, don't worry you are still safe . Planes have 1/10 lift to drag ratio, this means for every 10 km it travels forward it would loose 1km in height .If we do the calculation, this also means if you are about 6km up in the air , the plane can safely travel another 60km before it lands in a nearby airport .In reality, normal plane cruising height is about 10km in the air , so that gives you approx. 100km of safe flying when the engine fails . 4.Ash Trays In The Toilet Everyone is warned and common sense tells you its dangerous to smoke on a plane, but planes still have ash trays anyway . This is so because, not everybody would stick to not smoking , out of stubbornness or just being tired of life .So they are placed there because its better for it to be in the ash tray than being in the waste bin. In summary no matter how much they try to prevent people from smoking , some people would still do it anyway , so its better to be safe than sorry . 5.Lightning Strikes Planes are built to withstand lighting strikes , so don't worry you are safe .The fuel tank is also built with extra reinforcement to protect it . 6.Incomplete Seat Numbers /Rows Most airplanes don't have row 13 and row 17, number 13 and 17 (in some countries) is considered an unlucky number. So they jump from number 12 to 14 , because of superstitious people , who think their village people are flying beside the plane .
